    I would use it in hot summer to cool down water temperature especially during the day. More evaporation would occur which is good for a freshwater aquarium. However, it cannot replace a filter powerhead or air pump

    Brother airpump is all time best only you need to buy according to your tank and more than this set this on proper place....because of air pump you got surface agitation thanks...your video are best and your channel i only keep my opinion and your new friend and subscriber here keep it up 😇👍

    I still use an air pump for my sponge filter. With a 4 inch air stone disk it moves water, but the one benefit of a wave maker is that fish like swimming against the current to some degree. Even tiny fish like having just a bit of resistance. That's why I plan on getting one also. Been looking for days what is the most reliable one. Don't want to be spending $10 every month or every other month. That's gonna be $60-$120 a year. Thinking about getting a water pump but those aren't as effective due to the water coming out of a 1 inch hole.

      @@everythingaquarium thanks. That has good reviews on amazon too. Yesterday I ordered a kedsum water pump. It's the blue one. I liked it because speeds can be adjusted. Got the weakest one 400gph for now. It's going in a 10 gallon for guppies and platy fish. If it's not strong enough I'll go one step up to the 660gph. Don't want the strongest one because it might be too loud.

    • @everythingaquarium
      @everythingaquarium  Год назад

      It's a marineland maxijet 900. There is technically no adjustment the only way to turn it "down" is to convert it to a power head using the included impeller. The mode I show is the wavemaker mode or "circulation" mode which moves alot more water!

    I just dropped one in my 55 with red belly piranha and tiger barbs I’m running a wet dry trickle filter with an over flow the only thing in my tank is the overflow the return and the power head I keep good ph ammonia and DO readings I work in water treatment to it’s pretty easy to take a sample into work and test for all 3 the tank is less cluttered with the wet dry filter the only reason I run a power head is to keep my solids in suspension and get rid of dead spots

  • @wabalaka1565
    @wabalaka1565 2 года назад +7

    Air pump run at around 4w for a double outlet 4L/min output. Powerhead like your run at 20w-25w. On a show tank yes, in multiple tank the running cost start to add up really quick.

    Do you think it's too powerful for a 29 gal? And your setup seems pretty quiet, would you say it doesn't make much noise? My tank is in my bedroom so I like to keep it quiet lol

    • @everythingaquarium
      @everythingaquarium  3 года назад

      This model specifically yes too powerful but, they have other models in size that would work just fine! Relatively quiet but not silent, they are pretty cheap so you kind of get what you pay for with it. If your looking for dead silent check out some more top tier wavemakers they usually are very nice.

    Okay, thanks. Will the wave maker stress out my fishes? I have a 24 gallon tank.My fishes isn’t swimming around as much. Since I installed the wave maker.I run my wave maker 24/7 I only turn it off when Im feeding them.

    • @everythingaquarium
      @everythingaquarium  3 года назад +2

      Well it all depends, you should have a relatively small wavemaker for that size tank and the fish should be suitable for faster flow, some fish do not like fast flow. Do some research on your fish's preference of flow and depending on the wavemaker turn it down or maybe find a smaller one.

    • @liltop3539

    Great vid dude, I’ve got similar set up however a glass lid (aquaone nano 80 bow front) will this reduce oxygen? If so do you recommend an air stone as an addition?

    • @everythingaquarium
      @everythingaquarium  3 года назад +2

      Thanks! Actually if the circulation pump is pointed at the surface it will increase surface agitation causing more oxygen exchange therfore gassing off co2 and introducing more oxygen into the water column. So you should have plenty enough oxygen from just a circulation pump!

    • @scottcousins4464
      @scottcousins4464 3 года назад

    So i got my spray bars running along the back spraying towards the front and upwards, like a typical 45degree setup, would that create a weird flow if i put in a wave maker too?
    OR perhaps remove the spray bars and have a duckbill pushing the same direction, im confused lol

    Where to position the wave maker in accord to the HOB filter? Ive heard opposite side of the tank from where the filter is; then I was told the same side as the filter. Opposite end from the filter seems the most sensible. Any advice would be appreciated. (Looking for accurate placement of wave maker in a 30gal with using a HOB filter … filter is on the right side of tank. As of now, only have one wave maker ).

    • @PlayBoiAllen07
      @PlayBoiAllen07 6 месяцев назад

      Not sure If anyone has replied but the wave maker and filter should be on the same side so that your tank can set up a proper circulation and all the floating debris flow into ur filters as the wave maker is sucking in water

    • @kaisoisla
      @kaisoisla 3 месяца назад

      You are correct. Typically wave makers go on the opposite side of the tank, that way debris is pushed towards the filter intake. I usually turn mine off before feeding.

  • @marekmkm744
    @marekmkm744 Год назад

    any power filter can do it if you properly adjust the outlet. no extra wave maker needed. does not metter if it is internal filter or external. If you can adjust somehow the outflow direction and speed , you will get the same result. I've been doing this since my first power filter. Also, not every fish likes that strong current, so too much is not too good.

    Those fish would not run out of air and die with a $10 air pump tbh you don’t need an air pump or that power head as you have a hang on back filter that moves the surface of the water.

    Air pump is better. Not only are you breaking the surface tension when the bubbles reach the top and pop but you're also breaking surface tension where the bubbles are made. There is nothing better than an air stone. If you want the best of both worlds get an Expertmatic filter/wave maker/air stone. It does it all.

    • @westernartifact4163

      The problem is they're very loud, run hot and have too many moving parts to last long when run 24hr per day. They also don't perform superior to this.
      This is quiet, and the mechanics have less friction which means it's more likely to last for years.

      Your right they are quiet and may last longer. I've never had one fail though but no matter how you look at it bubbles aerate better. You can also get internal pumps like the xpertmatic in tank filter that makes bubbles filters and moves a ton of water.
