    This has become my latest obsession converting 1/4 to 3/8 torc. Nice one wish there were more uploads like this. Especially for those weird oddballs you occasionally find for really cheap on Ebay and what not.

    Liked the video. I need small 3/8" drive like that. I have the hex bit ratchet and it has saved my ass many times. Picked it up off the promo counter on the Snap On truck a few years back.

    Hello sir fine post. I've gone the other way with my ratchets purchases, I bought the one I think I use the most is a THLF72 it's 1/4 drive flex handle comfort grip, I like the longer handle, also have a 3/8 FLF80A I like that one, a FHL80 again a long handle another favorite is a 1/2 SL80A a long one as well that's my favorite also. I do have a stubby 3/8 but never used it

    Enjoyed this. Maybe this is a weird perspective, and certainly obvious to many, but this is far better than using a 1/4" F to 3/8" M adapter because with this you would neither risk breaking the original square connection and the ratchet gearing is proportionally strong to support anything you put in torque on the ratchet. I've watched a lot of people break a 1/4" ratchet with an adapter that probably shouldn't be on the market!

    Does this conversion include the dual 80 technology where they have smaller teeth and smoother while using it?
    I was just curious if I have a snap on ratchet 3/8” swivel head I purchased about 10-12 years ago it doesn’t have the new teeth can you just purchase a kit and put it into existing older ratchet? Anyone know? Thx!!!

  • @sethc758

    I bought that ratchet they sell with the 3/8 head. Do you know if they have one that will work will work with the thllf72? Their extra long 1/4" flexhead. Bc I noticed on the one I bought it has the cover screws through the face plate and the thllf72 has them through the back. I want to make it a 3/8 so bad.

      You can’t because the screws are on the top of the ratchet head.

    Nice video but I would buy a stubby 3/8 ratchet. Nepros has a stubby 3/8 that's 90 tooth a really small head on it. Part number NBRC390S.

    Can you use the flex head 1/4 soft grip and turn it into a 3/8 head

    • @TheSnapOnToolReview
      @TheSnapOnToolReview  5 лет назад

      The extra long one is the TLLF72 and you can’t convert that one.

    • @YungJosh50
      @YungJosh50 5 лет назад

      Yes, flex-head variants of Snap-on Dual 80 technology ratchets can just as easily be converted (from 1/4" to 3/8") as their fixed head counterparts. The extra long flex-head versions (with flat-tip fasteners ran in from the rear), specifically THLLF72 and TLLF72, require a ratchet head swap to a standard TF72 style head for the conversion. Check the description for additional information. Glad to help.

    So you made an FC72 with the wrong markings on it... kinda sweet if you have a spare ratchet laying around, but if you want that ratchet without messing around and ordering parts, just buy the FC72 or FCF72.

    So the head of a 1/4 and 3/8 is the same size? Thats just stupid, the 1/4 should be smaller in size for tight spaces. What you just did is got a 3/8 Ratchet and cut Some of the handle nothing more, whats the benefit?

    • @TheSnapOnToolReview
      @TheSnapOnToolReview  5 лет назад +1

      The 1/4” head is way smaller than the 3/8”. The gear is designed smaller to fit into the 1/4” head.

    • @Mark-vn7et
      @Mark-vn7et 5 лет назад

      Oh like that, i thought it was just the inside parts of a 3/8 ratchet. So now you can use a small ratchet but with bigger size sockets then there are available with 1/4

  • @chiefin3615
    @chiefin3615 5 лет назад

    Whats even the point of this? Seems like it's just spending a bunch of extra money to have a ratchet to show to people and say "oh look how cool this ratchet i have is".

    • @TheSnapOnToolReview
      @TheSnapOnToolReview  5 лет назад +1

      Have you ever been in a situation where the 3/8” head is too bulky? This is for that situation. Plus Most 1/4” socket sets end at 15mm, add a super shallow socket to this and you can get into any spot you want.

    • @chiefin3615
      @chiefin3615 5 лет назад

      @@TheSnapOnToolReview That does make a lot of sense now, I didn't think about the bulkiness of the head. When I think about it now I have run into a lot of situations like that where I don't have a 16mm 1/4 and my 3/8 ratchet with shallow 16 is too bulky
