I like this dealer. Down to earth and seems real honest man. Hope he does well
You should make a video comparing the Matco conversion ratchet to the Snap on conversion ratchet?
I have the 6’’ and 12’’ 1/4 with the 3/8 head .. use them all the time . Very handy
I got the same ratchet and it’s still going strong after 3year ain’t have no problem 😉
“Them pliers will make a stupid man smart”😂
My matco guy came by today and I showed him this video. Now hopefully I’ll have me a ratchet next week!
It’s Friday the best day of the week because Michel has more tools that excite me. Have a good weekend Clay
Just asked my Matco dealer to order me the parts and going to make the same green ones you made ! 👍🏼
This video just cost me $132.65. . . . I'm an Electrician and I have never seen a set of slip joint cable cutters before until your preacher friend yanked those down out of the ceiling . . . I jumped out of my seat when I saw those in this video. Immediately after seeing this video, I looked them up on MATCO's website (part# PWCDP9) and found out those are made by Knipex. Unfortunately, these are exclusive to MATCO and Knipex doesn't sell those anywhere else. (they don't even show these on the Knipex website) I do not have a MATCO dealer in my area. So I just ordered them from MATCO's website.
Kingsport Tool Review i love Knipex line . I got the double cable cutters!
I got a new Matco guy and I'm gona get him on this ratchet!!!
Mr. Clay I spend all my money based off of your ideas and tools...not saying that's a bad thing
It is amazing !
@@KoonTrucking Another one that I really love is the 1/4 indexing ratchet, AIR6. That and my compact 3/8 flex are never far from me while I'm in the shop.
Yup, ordered the ¼" ratchet and ⅜" drive from Matco unfortunately don't have a distributor in my region but I made it work. Of course watched some conversation videos got to converting my ratchet. Now ¼" ratchet ⅜" drive rides in my left cargo pocket and big brother ⅜" ratchet 40th Ann Black Satin rides in my tool cart. Love the locking system on these, then the on the Snap-On. Love Snap-On but must redesign locking System on the flex head ratchets. 🧰👨🔧
Dang it Clay. Now I have to have one !!!!!
Please give us a review on the Bluetooth Beanie! I live in Minnesota and this would be pretty awesome at work this winter!
#koontrucking Thank you, I did purchase the the ¼" drive ratchet and the ⅜" drive repair kit and made the conversation which was fairly easy. I love my new Matco ¼" ratchet w the ⅜" drive anvil Red comfort grip handle... 👨🔧🧰🚘
Here's my oil change story.
While at tech school I worked at Walmart doing oil changes. Was in the pit and car came in that had the filter on top of the engine, so one of the guys up top switched it out for me. Top guy filled the vehicle with oil and turned it on to make sure no leaks, all was good. Later in the day the manager came in yelling at all of us. Turns out the guy on top cross threaded the filter and it out leaked when on a load. Owner immediately took the car on the interstate and made it about 5 miles before the engine blew. Walmart bought a new engine and I got in trouble.
Learned two things that day, never trust anyone else if you are signing off on the work. And rev the engine after oil pressure comes up to make sure it holds. Later that day I was thinking about what happened I noticed a trail of oil leaving the bay right to where the car was parked. I immediately started yelling at the guy to did the filter and everyone else for not noticing the oil trail.
How bout a video of your favorites, go to rachets, favorite sockets, and such. Also what you don’t like and what you like etc?
I’d love to have one of them Bluetooth pink beanies
RUBBERS! HOLY CRAP! bill's color too. he should be excited! :)
That is ingenius, with size and function!
Good video y'all have a great day and stay safe 👍
Thanks Clay for another awesome video. I think Tool Hoarder swapped his Matco 1/4” head to 3/8” drive a while back. Thanks Again.
Let's take precher man to Joe's truck next month. Joe's need some blessing for that Ford 1 more illusive sensor that dealer promises him . We all need some blessing every so often.
I meant next Monday.
Just made that same ratchet Thursday Matco 1/4 is the best
You were, sho nuff, giddy about those green impact sleeves, Mr. Clay. I reckon the only time you were more giddy than that was on your wedding day.
Have so many wretches didn't think would buy another well merry xmass found a got to have yall come up with best tools....
My flex head 3/8 Matco ratchet that I bought off of Dow is my favorite. I would love to buy a 1/4 with a 3/8 head on it. I could see how that would come in handy.
Good video clay I’m have to get me a matco ratchet and convert it !!! Glad you got your rubbers lol have a great weekend
I just ordered the parts to convert my 1/4” to 3/8” I’m excited
That’s awesome ! You will love it.
Do you have the part numbers for the conversion kit
Is the 1/4" ratchet they show in the video with the comfort grip the same as their Matco 1/4" ratchet with the chrome grip, part number AFR68LF?
Bfr5tk is the kit number
Thank you great video
When he said he seen someone drive a Land Rover with no oil I just about spitted out my food cause I've seen the same thing 20yrs ago at the dealer and they took 15w40 oil back then. That old Buick all aluminum 3.9's and 4.2l. That's funny. The engine was warm when he got back lol. He put the 7qts of oil in and it ran fine afterwards. Your talking about luck. We were yanking and rebuilding those engines just to fix the oil leaks all the time so they were always under the proper operating level on the road and off road.
Gotta order those protective covers for my new MT2779 and MCL2038HIW(if it's out) impacts. They're both impressive and with that new brushless 1/2" impact coming out Matco will have some stout impacts. Waiting to see if Snap On can put out a new impact in 3/8" brushless. My MG and CT761 are my fav 3/8's and they get it done for their size but if they stop making them I'll be disappointed. They said they can't fix my MG31 and it looks just like the MG325! Yup down right unhappy. I was surprised when they stop making the 1/2" MG in favor of the PT850. They took a step down in my opinion. You either love or hate the company and most of my career I've loved them but it's getting less and less. That's all I'll say. Their hand tools will last forever but everything else will be obsolete sooner then you think but the same goes for all tool makers I guess.
I like your taste in green tools... I wish they made green Snap-On Options back when I bought most of my stuff.
I have an orange Matco 1/4 Ratchet and i'm trying to find a Green one to trade with
A late friend of my dad's drove his car out without putting in a new oil filter.Drove it out with no oil filter on.Oil did come out and did catch in time, didn't drive it that far.Got it in and put in an oil filter.I have that 1/4 flex head ratchet, like it and need it warrantied.Locked up on me,my dealer had one route taken away.I liked him,he had great service and treated me good.Never questioned me on a broken or worn out tool, tool replaced or fixed on the spot.
I wish Matco Michael was our dealer in Kentucky! Great guy!
I like this channel but I wish they did more stuff for the weekend garage worrier that does not have access to a tool truck all the time but I do feel like they have great content
I wish our local Matco dealer was cool. Before I went to work at my current employment a tech at our other shop across town bought a Snap-On scanner instead of a Matco one and the Matco dealer threw a huge fit and now refuses to put us on his route. Again Before I was even there. I tried reaching out to him letting him know I'd like to spend money on his truck but to no avail. I know I don't have to tell y'all about bad experiences with tool truck vendors and I get that it is probably pretty stressful when you have three other competitors in a small town I just don't get the giving up on good money over childish crap.
My story is opposite. Our matco guy priced vehicle at our dealership and others. He was honest and went for the best deal and our SM and GM pitched a fit and banned him from coming to our place... people and their bs... oh and they only found out where he bought it because he brought it in to us to do service on it lol
Clay, can you get the part number on the Bluetooth beanie in pick and black. That would make cool Christmas gifts.
mtcbtbeanie is the black and mtcbtbeaniep is the pink.
Thanks
Those pliers be good for cutting cigars
Funny I was looking into doing that to the matco 12" long flex head. Was sure it would work from the info I found. Called matco corporate and the guy said the he didn't think it would. We can't seem to keep a matco dealer around in my neck of the world and the matco rep could not locate one in my area with out the ZIP code of the shop he gos to. I had tried lots of ZIP codes in my area on there dealer finder with no luck. I gave up on the matco ratchet because no matco dealer around no service for when it brakes. Ended up converting the Snap-on 12" 1/4 drive flex head ratchet to 3/8 which you have to change out the hole head assembly because the 3/8 kit for the 1/4 drive body dose not fit into the 72 tooth flex head with the screws from the back of the head.
Take a 3/8 & make it a 1/4 like that binnie with the light on it and splice connection
I’m doing one
Could you fit a 1/2" head onto a 3/8" ratchet?
I need to get me one in a Snappy Comfort grip. What was the part number for the Snappy kit you had Hamilton order?
Possible to order one of those from your dealer pre assembled with that handle and a longer one possibily?
👍🏼
Great video, what is the tooth count on the new slim 3/8 drive?
I know it is super fine and smooth as silk
I own 6 snap on ratchets , and 2 matcos . My favorite ratchet is Matco 1/4 drive 9” orange hand ratchet PN# AFR8TMA. I use It for anything unless I need to swap to 1/2. It’s really tough and prefect slim profile . I wonder if the kit will work in this old frame ? I bought it in 2010 probably . If I can find an identical one, I’ll get it and the kit so I’ll have it in 3/8
I’m not sure would just have to check w Matco
You definitely have the best tool dealers down there in your neck of the woods clay.. btw, gotta love that 3/8 ratchet....awesome video as usual fellas. Have a great Matco weekend...👍👍👍
Do they have a re- brand side cutting pliers that seats next to Michael’s hands, on his left side?
They are not side cutters but percision panel clip pliers part number is pcp920 and yes you can get rebranded ones.
Is there any sense in getting into the tool truck business in the New Orleans area? also what’s the typical interest rate on purchases on credit
I have a AFR6LFTGA. Will this convert to a 3/8ths?
Clay does Matco make a conversion to put the 1/2 in head on the 3/8 ratchet?
Not that I know of
Is that the 6" ratchet or 9" ratchet or just a part number on it would be nice.
AFR68LFG
I was looking at purchasing the Matco AFR68LF which I believe is the same ratchet as the one in this video without the comfort grip. Can you ask Matco Michael if the kit he used, BFR5TK in your ratchet would fit the AFR68LF? Unfortunately there aren't any Matco dealers within 300 miles of me. Well at least not according to their website's dealer locator.
Oooo!!! A weather pack kit!! You have no idea how long I've been looking for that. You have a plug that's burned or broken,, or just plain wore out, you try to just get that plug and they tell you that they have to get the whole wire harness for that plug, or go to a salvage yard to get it. Now your stuck hard wire it.....
It’s a really nice kit
Can you see if they can put a 1/2" drive in a 3/8 head?
I can ask but I bet it won’t fit due to the size
Isn't this ratchet conversion basically the same as Snap On's Compact flex head ratchets? Kinda like the FCF72?
This is a locking flex head and also comfort grip. Plus Matco head is thinner
What's the part number for the cutters at 12:46? Been looking for a good pair of those. Also gotta get my Matco guy on to that ratchet conversion and get me one of those too.
Pwcdp9
What's the part number for the 1/4 ratchet?
I need one of these in my life! Any idea why there are no red handle comfort grip ratchets on the Matco website? I thought Michael said they were out for sale?
Yes he has the red handle on his truck
The only red one will be BFR128BLFR
Wish I knew the local Matco guy. I'd like to have the beenie, the converted ratchet and that connector set. I'd be in trouble if the Matco showed up at my door.
Get in touch with Matco via the website and ask them who you dealer is they will hook you up. Even if you don’t have a shop ask him if you can go meet him on his route
Thanks Clay.
What is the exact PN for that ratchet? My dealer has apparently never done that conversion and doesn’t know what im talking about. I want the same ratchet in green! Please Koon!
So are you saying you can get a 1/4 body locking flex head with a 3/8ths drive?
Ya
How is this ratchet holding up? Would you recommend this conversion?
Yes it is awesome but you have to remember it is only good for torque that you would use on a regular 1/4” ratchet and not a 3/8” since the body is 1/4”. You can’t use it like a regular 3/8 or it won’t last. It’s not designed too because of the small flex joint. Just good for tight spots.
Clay, is that the 6" or 9" 1/4 drive flex ratchet?
6”
Thanks, that thing looks sweet
Looking to do this conversion but I am unable to find the BFR5TK conversion kit anywhere. Called Matco and they say they don't carry t his kit anymore.... Help!
for the price of matco tools, clothing should be provided for free as the advertising will be payment enough
Wall's head is actually 1" & 3/4" wide judging by my vernier calipers measurements with my phone screen in landscape. LoL😂 🤣 🤣
How is it compared to a snap on stubby flex head 3/8?
Matco has a locking flex head of course but Matco head seems thinner and Matco ratchets just feel different than Snap On. So that’s just a personal preference on which one you like better.
@@KoonTrucking To be honest I did this with the same ratchet as I didn't like the feel of the bfr68lf, it just felt to bulky as it replaced the bfr58ft but added a lock to it and made it wider in that area.
I seen the part number for the conversion kit. But what’s the part number on the ratchet? I’m curious if you went with the 6” or 9”
It’s in the comments where i posted it
He went with the 6. Afr68lfg, the 9 would be afr98lfg.
Clay
What is the ratchet part number you purchased. I know it's a 1/4" locking fires head with comfort grip.
I can’t remember off the top of my head I put it in the comments. Either in this video or the video before this when I first asked Michael about it.
@@KoonTrucking I believe it's the one before. Thank you sir
Did you get bill a pink binnie?
Bill was off. He’s a closet pinker, guess he just don’t want people to know he wears pink, he always blames it on his “wife stealing his socks” 🙄 haha
1st, now for the content!
You will love this ratchet ! This is one bad bitch right here !
@@KoonTrucking I think I'm gonna get me 1 to try. I need to meet preacher man, I need to tell him about lying SOB and get his thoughts! Lol
Hahaha
@@KoonTrucking I thought that might be Wally's buddy Kenny Wayne the way he was talking about those cutters
How did old dirty oil get into a new filter?
When it was ran without any oil in it whatever was left inside the head must have went through the oil pump and into the filter ?
I can’t find the rebuild part on the Matco Site. Is there any other way I can purchase it? I don’t have a dealer any where near me?
I’m sure if you contact Matco they will hook you up with it.
They don't have it on their website can only get it if you call or talk to ur local matco dealer
Splice kit = Fixing Rodents eating new Truck wiring ...
What’s the warranty on the Matco 1/2 impact and battery?
Brushless has a 2 year warranty on them
Koon Trucking thank you sir👍🏼
He said he put a motor in it then later in his story the other dude had to put the motor in for free. The story changes, the plot thickens.
He probably meant the shop put the motor in it and he also worked on it but the ding dong that didn’t put the oil in it didn’t get paid for the job
@@KoonTrucking I'm just giving you all a hard time
You like your new Matco conversion more than your SnapOn?
I love locking flex heads
@@KoonTrucking They "ARE" the "Apple" :) :)
Well you’re a terrible influence on my wallet. Gonna have to get one now, never thought I’d hear you say anything other than snap on was your ultimate ratchet!
Oil changes gone bad.. When I was 14 or 15 years old I was changing the oil in a 77-79 F-250 I forgot the drain plug. I didn't go total dumb ass with it only the first 2 quarts. The owner was my brothers boss at the time so when I said we need a couple more quarts of oil he's like how much does it hold? The Preacher seems like a very understanding man even he knows you need another ratchet! You need figure out if there's anymore ratchet swaps that can be done.
C'mon man. Loan the kid your Snappy ring pliers
Do you prefer matco tools over snap on or depends?
Just depends on your dealer. All tools wear out and break over time. It all boils down to if the dealer will warranty it and take care off you.
@@KoonTrucking I got a great dealer. I seen that matco has alot stronger impacts than snap on
No Matco dealer anywhere near me. I am going to order the repair kit myself. Does anyone know if there is a how to video on replacing the inside components? I believe I can "handle" it if I saw a tear down and or rebuild of a MATCO ratchet. I could always take pictures while I disassemble my ratchet too.
Yes we have shown our dealer rebuild them before in previous Matco videos
@@KoonTrucking FANTASTIC News! I should have known. Good Lord the more I watch your videos the more I realize I've missed a bunch too!
Clay, what is the part number for the small ratchet and also the number for the rebuild kit to make it 3/8?
I left it in the comments in the video i think it was Bacon Kutter ?
The part number for the rebuild kit is in the video
@@KoonTrucking yes you did
Bfr5tk is the rebuild kit. Waiting for customer service at Matco to get ahold of me to see if its available to order over the phone.
Found the part number for the ratchet, AFR68LFG
Thanks Clay and Bacon Cutter 😁
Hey Clay @ 6:51, is that snap ring fully set in?
What's up guy's!?!?!?
Ive got one and it skips , my impact from matco ( the half inch smaller one) has this power delivery issue where like a micro second after u hit the trigger then i goes to full power. Needless to say no more matco for me
I haven’t had any issues with my custom built ratchet or my regular ratchet, my stubby 1/2” or the full size 1/2” impact hasn’t missed a beat. Talk to your dealer he will warranty it out if it isn’t working right
Matco does sell that kit anymore
Clay pick me up one of those hats (black) and I’ll take care of you $$$
I love this video as that’s exactly what I’m looking for a wrenching aspect here at the firehouse I work at. Is it possible next time you see MATCO Michael next Friday to see what the MATCO guy that services 46234 zip code or 46112 please.
I have a snappy guy but this makes me want to get that damn plier set too.
My pocketbook is starting to hate Koon Trucking tool videos, but my toolbox loves them!! Lol
Keep it up Clay!!!
You can go online to Matco’s website and email or call them to find your dealer
Goes Matco warranty tools on line please respond???
I think you meant “Does Matco warranty tools online” yes they do. Just call them and see how they want to handle it ? Either send in the broken tool or if it is a ratchet they may just send in the kit to repair it ?
@@KoonTrucking ok thanks
You only need to swap the anvil and cover, all the other parts are the same.
Duralast made a fixed head one for like 20 dollars but the fuckers discontinued it
I did an oil change and didnt put the oil back in. But i thought i did. I put the oil gun in the engine, pulled the trigger, it locked, and before i had even done that i set the machine for the amount of oil needed. Car left and came back and after the owner and the other techs kept trying to crank it, it locked up. It was a newer mustang and fucker doesnt tell you “NO OIL”. So why was there no oil? Someone did an oil change and didnt swap the machine back to my bay, oil change bay. They had to do an oil change or something and didnt think about it and granted i should have but i never thought i would need to but thats not a real excuse i know. So they freed the engine and drove and eventually it came back knocking. In retrospec the fuckers that drove it might be have sabotaged it bc they didnt like me anyway bc i wasnt gonna be a shop bitch for no one, i helped two guys out a whole lot but thats bc they helped me whenever i had an issue and bought me lunch when i fucked up and burnt mine. But anyway, the mustang got a new engine and the tech that did the job got paid and i was supposed to have bi weekly payments to pay off the engine itself but i quit before they did anything bc i was barely making 500 every two weeks working over 50 hours a week. I couldnt do it anymore and went to Rocky Ridge. 350+$ everyweek is way better. Moral of the story, i tried and failed and will never let it happen again and i greatly appreciate that they kept their trust in me, and i would have stayed if it wasnt for the horrible pay and the fact i knew i wasnt gonna get any better paying jobs even when i’ve done larger jobs on the dirt in my own yard.
Matco ratchets are trash after 8 warrenty replacements in. Less then a year he traded the shitty matco branded gear wrench for a snap on
It hurts to hear you call maco better then snap-on:... Snap-On is GOD
The locking flex head has become my favorite so far..... it’s smooth and the lock doesn’t get in the way and it is thinner. It is what it is..... I own like 40 snap on ratchets, but it is what it is.
I’d like to do this conversion but I can’t find the part number listed on Matco website and I don’t have a tool truck dealer around my area, does anyone know how I can get ahold of these parts?
