@Anomalia Bohemian He should be ashamed for the reasons this genius (Hitchens) explained - laughing about cutting the tip of a baby's dick off? And clearly the Rabbi had no idea he was going to get slapped down like that - and he absolutely was. Yes, it was wise of him to remain silent - as he knew he'd be absolutely crushed and had no way to defend himself. See once you give up on all these fairy tales you can truly become enlightened. I'll hope you become so one day too.

But I embrace this work willingly and welcome the chance to challenge anyone who demands that faith must be respected.
There is no way Hannity can deal effectively with the likes of a Christopher Hitchens. Hannity's conservative takes are prepackaged ideas he's absorbed from other sources , while Hitchens has digested his sources and created clear & understandable points of view which he can express logically and without rancor. Ayo I don’t mean to force anything on anyone, but we have various types of evidence for biblical events, if anyone is interested (read on) hell was never meant for us, my fellow youtube user. it was for the devil and his squad, and God gave us the Way out of there since we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. God knew we were wack, but He decided He was still come down and help us, despite our unfaithfulness. most relationships (like friendships, romantic relationships) aren't like this. Very few, but not a whole lot. religion (Christianity) is just a relationship with God along with loving others (see james 1:27) also, we have various types of evidence that backs up the Bible. Here's one example: Scientists have discovered that the earth "skipped" a day. The Bible explains how that happened. In the book of Joshua, Joshua asked the sun to stop so he and the Israelites could defeat their enemies. Then in 2 Kings, King Hezekiah learned he was dying, and pleaded to God to not let him die. God sent a prophet to king hezekiah who said hezekiah would live. Hezekiah wanted a sign, and that would be for the sun to defy the law of inertia and go back 10 degrees. NASA confirmed it and did the math (look it up for more info). We also found Noah’s Ark hanging out in turkey, along with anchor stones marked with crosses signifying that it’s a revered place, along with altars and many other things. Look it up, it’s good stuff The Holy Spirit exists. I was a slave to s3xual sin for 7-ish d@mn years. Finally at 16, God freed me. Also, look up John Gabbana's (boonk gang) testimony. Dude did a lot of wacky stuff. He's changed now. also, the soul exists. someone i know (i won't say who- privacy reasons) saw their soul leaving their body. like pulling off a band-aid, except it doesn't hurt. I was suicidal for 9-ish months, but then I read John 3:16, and poof- the big sad went away in one night. There are also non-Christian sources who have confirmed the existence and divinity of Jesus, some of which were hostile towards Christianity, such as: Thallus (52 AD), who said Jesus lived, was crucified, and confirmed the darkness and earthquake that followed Christ’s crucifixion; Tacitus (56-120 AD), who called the followers of Christ Christians, confirmed that Jesus was crucified under Pontus Pilate’s command Talmud (400-700 AD), confirmed that the disciples were martyred for their faith, and confirmed Jesus was executed the day before the Passover, and said Jesus had “magical” powers Pliny the Younger (61-113 AD), who said that the Christians thought Jesus was/is God in the Flesh (God the Son) Phlegon (80-140 AD), who said Jesus had the ability to predict the future, and confirmed that Jesus was crucified during Caesar’s reign, confirmed Jesus rose from the dead, and confirmed He showed His wounds to confirm He was crucified. Celcus (175 AD), who said Jesus was born of a virgin, said His father is a carpenter, and confirmed Jesus had miraculous powers (See cold-case Christianity for more details) Here’s the physical evidence of Jesus and His Resurrection: 1) No persecution would have started if He hadn’t come back (the disciples thought Jesus would never resurrect) 2) The Roman soldiers would have paid with their lives if they failed at their jobs 3) there was a 2-4 ton rock that 11-12 guys would have to move (they didn’t have any help. Everyone said “crucify Him”) major L to those opposed to Jesus 4) there was a Roman seal which was a metal pin that sealed the tomb stone 5) Stealing the Jesus’s body isn’t something the disciples would do (besides Judas. Although he hung himself after feeling remorse for betraying Jesus). 6) the disciples wouldn’t die for what they knew would be a lie. (The lie being Jesus never made the ultimate comeback) faith and reason, people hit me up to learn more about how science proves the Bible or just about God in general.
@Rick-sr5oj scientists at the time had to say they were Catholic, or else they would be tortured and killed: the Catholic Church itself was very much opposed to the scientific method because it undermined its tyrannical dogma. Learn some history - you're embarrassing yourself.

@@MsJavaWolf when you come to a debate with a question that has an obvious answer, that has been answered over and over again, and that offers nothing to the discussion, it is indeed a stupid question.
@@RamseyRimkeit I don't really agree with that, what would the obvious answer be in this case? He asked about meaning and strictly speaking that is not the same as truth. Hitchens did not address meaning or truth, he rather defended the constitution, which is important but doesn't answer the question. I dislike it when people mention the utility of religion, for me it's about truth, if there is no god there is no god. And I dislike that argument even more because some speakers are not really that convinced in the existence of god, when they talk about the benefits of a belief in god rather than god himself all I hear is "yes I dont really believe in it, but thge dirty peasants should believe in it so we have a functioning society" I don't know who the person asking the question was. Maybe he himself suffered a great loss and his belief in god was the only thing that kept him going. Maybe he was one of those people who use ther idea of god to feel superior to the 95%. In the first case Hitchens should have shown more compassion, in the second case he could have used a different argument, not as flashy, but I think more powerful.

WakingCobain lol please it was a slick comeback only atheist will enjoy. It's hilariously oversimplistic to think evil only comes from religion. Maybe conception of good and evil were formed by religion but awful acts are done by non religious people throughout all of history. Lool at even recent events with Stalin
Charles Harding And nobody ever said that only religious people commit evil acts. The difference is that religious evil is based on literally nothing and thus even more foolish. Stalin was a monster, but at least he didnt pretend to be righteous in his evil deeds. He was just a bad person. If you commit genocide for the ressources of a country you are monster. If you commit genocide on a people in the name of a delusion and for no gain you are a stupid monster. Hitchens is right, religion at its core is evil. Cases of good things religion has done are always outweight by the bad. If religion didnt exist, evil wouldnt go away, but it would be starkly reduced and become easier to reason with.
Evil comes from religion is a nonsensical statement, it comes from the hearts of human beings. Christianity commands its adherents to love your neighbor as you love yourself and also to love your enemies. CHRIST never promoted the hurting of anyone, the churchmen who have done wrong have done so of their own accord not because it was a Christian mandate. No matter what Hitch said, the Atheistic regimes of Pol Pot, Stalin, Mao and Kim Sung to name a few have destroyed more lives than all the crusades combined.
The Hannity Hitchslaps might be my favorite all time. The sigh Hannity lets out when Hitchens says, "You took up all the time for my answer with your long rather unlettered question," is absolutely classic.

In 'Hitch', we survive a remarkably courageous person.
One of the main players who first had the courage to challenge religion? Christopher Hitchens was a brilliant man, but make no mistake. The only reason he was able to speak out against religion was because people before him spoke out and granted him that platform. Galileo and Copernicus defied the church when it was immensely powerful, and as a result, were punished severely. Hitchens lived in a time when criticizing religion was uncommon, but acceptable and safe nonetheless.

Ayo I don’t mean to force anything on anyone, but we have various types of evidence for biblical events, if anyone is interested (read on)
hell was never meant for us, my fellow youtube user. it was for the devil and his squad, and God gave us the Way out of there since we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
God knew we were wack, but He decided He was still come down and help us, despite our unfaithfulness. most relationships (like friendships, romantic relationships) aren't like this. Very few, but not a whole lot.
religion (Christianity) is just a relationship with God along with loving others (see james 1:27)
also, we have various types of evidence that backs up the Bible.
Look it up, it’s good stuff
The Holy Spirit exists.
There are also non-Christian sources who have confirmed the existence and divinity of Jesus, some of which were hostile towards Christianity, such as:
Thallus (52 AD), who said Jesus lived, was crucified, and confirmed the darkness and earthquake that followed Christ’s crucifixion;
Tacitus (56-120 AD), who called the followers of Christ Christians, confirmed that Jesus was crucified under Pontus Pilate’s command
Talmud (400-700 AD), confirmed that the disciples were martyred for their faith, and confirmed Jesus was executed the day before the Passover, and said Jesus had “magical” powers
Pliny the Younger (61-113 AD), who said that the Christians thought Jesus was/is God in the Flesh (God the Son)
Phlegon (80-140 AD), who said Jesus had the ability to predict the future, and confirmed that Jesus was crucified during Caesar’s reign, confirmed Jesus rose from the dead, and confirmed He showed His wounds to confirm He was crucified.
Celcus (175 AD), who said Jesus was born of a virgin, said His father is a carpenter, and confirmed Jesus had miraculous powers
(See cold-case Christianity for more details)
Here’s the physical evidence of Jesus and His Resurrection:
1) No persecution would have started if He hadn’t come back (the disciples thought Jesus would never resurrect)
2) The Roman soldiers would have paid with their lives if they failed at their jobs
3) there was a 2-4 ton rock that 11-12 guys would have to move (they didn’t have any help. Everyone said “crucify Him”) major L to those opposed to Jesus
4) there was a Roman seal which was a metal pin that sealed the tomb stone
5) Stealing the Jesus’s body isn’t something the disciples would do (besides Judas. Although he hung himself after feeling remorse for betraying Jesus).
6) the disciples wouldn’t die for what they knew would be a lie. (The lie being Jesus never made the ultimate comeback)
faith and reason, people

Hitchens calling out circumcision as genital mutilation shows just how far ahead he was. People performing this barbaric act simply for aesthetic reasons or religious reasons is insane.
Except it's a fact that STI and STD rates are way lower in people who are circumcised.
@@DarthObscurity True, but people without testicles are also 100% less likely to get testicular cancer and pulling out all your teeth with ensure you'll never get another cavity.
The overall medical consensus is with the upsides and downsides of both, there's no clear 'best' option.... there are benefits and drawbacks to both.... but you're cherry picking.
@@DarthObscurity And yet, despite cutting the genitals of boys, every medical organization that has a stance on it still states that condoms and abstinence are the only REAL ways to prevent the spread of STI's and STD's, matter of fact. In fact, if asked about it, the doctors that represent those organizations often don't even mention cutting genitals as an option. I'll state that I suffered it as an infant in the United States and to this day, I still have hatred for the act, and I don't think I'll ever find a way to get that hate to subside, despite many attempts to do so.

One of the best spur of the moment comebacks I have ever had the pleasure of listening to...
WakingCobain lol please it was a slick comeback only atheist will enjoy. It's hilariously oversimplistic to think evil only comes from religion. Maybe conception of good and evil were formed by religion but awful acts are done by non religious people throughout all of history. Lool at even recent events with Stalin
FTR, it's *Christopher, and never, ever "Chris". He'd have slapped you...
Charles Harding
And nobody ever said that only religious people commit evil acts.
When he accused him of never raking the time to read a single article arguing against his beliefs. The saddest part is just how meaningless their faith is to them until they get to use it to put somebody else down. Horrendous!

The only reason he was able to speak out against religion was because people before him spoke out and granted him that platform. Let me ask you a question. Is there such a thing as fear of the unknown?
@@jeffforsythe9514 How Lovecraftian!!
"Where does evil come from...? - Religion!"
Stalin didn't kill 20 million people in the name of Atheism. He did it because he was evil, and could.
Hitler also had millions killed, and he was a catholic.
Millions have been killed in Africa because they were of the wrong religion. Etc.
Anything else you need clarifying.

Watching Hannity debate Hitch is like watching a mouse wrestling a lion.
Hannity is nothing more than a whiney child. He pouts and cries and stamps his little feet in lieu of argument.
That beatdown on the Catholic Church at the end defies description. If it had been an MMA fight, the ref would have leaped in to protect his victim.

Sean watson what if christopher hitchens would get possessed that would be too much right.

And still I find myself returning to hear his words when I'm stressed out or angry at this world. Unfortunately more frequently now days. And I can feel the smile growing on my face the blood pounding in my head lessens. And the sun shines just a little brighter.
Hitchens used alcohol. Why does someone become an alcoholic? Common belief is that most of time because of a loss. Loss of confidence, a job, a child, a wife and perhaps faith, who knows? I do not debate because I know the truth. It is sort of like debating if a tree exists for me, a tree is irrefutable and likewise the Lord.

@@DefenestrateYourself Nice try. The two books were simply trying to show us that being good is it's own reward. The first book was very strict because our minds were not very sophisticated then and fear was a very good way to keep our emotions from getting out of hand. And it made us think. When our minds became more sophisticated, Jesus came with a much kinder, gentler Way. And now the final chapter.......................Falun Dafa(The Great Way).
