This season was when I was like “Man this show is just as great as Breaking Bad”. That courtroom scene when Chuck goes ballistic was the highlight of the show for me. Michael McKean’s acting is unreal
One of my favorite scenes in this season that nobody ever seems to talk about is when Jimmy visits the woman at the insurance agency. One of Odenkirk's more emotional scenes, which turns out to be a nefarious ploy to inform the insurance company of Chuck's mental health issues. Not only a great scene, but really the straw that broke the camel's back right before Chuck's ultimate demise.
Arguably my 3rd best season of BCS. This is the season where it starts to getting intense, with the ongoing intense feud between Chuck and Jimmy getting more tense, the reintroduction of Gus, the truth behind how Hector became disabled, and the most jaw dropping if not shocking season finale! This is where the show starts to reach the Breaking Bad level! 10/10
My favorite episode of this season was the first one where he broke down his entire car to find the tracker. I love the way Vince shoots those type of scenes taking something apart.
It's kinda strange the this is when Gilligan left the writers room, early in the 3rd season. Yet, this is when it starts to feel more like the original show. For me, BCS has had perfect pacing through out the series with each season picking it up. I love how it took it's time and I find it very re-watchable. Maybe more so than BB for me, but I can easily see everyone disagreeing with that. Didn't think that was gonna happen because I really didn't want a show about Saul. But then they aired the pilot and was instantly hooked.
Great video Cody. Loving the BCS content. This is the season that changes everything going forward. The way its written is brilliant. Cause it's feels like once a certain someone is gone the show changes. Chuck was the moral compass in Jimmy's life and when he goes the moral compass for the show goes basically. The Breaking bad infested this show from then on. Saul was free to do whatever from then on. If that was intentional then it's brilliant.
Great review Cody. Season 3 was Incredible. Chicanery Is In my top 3 episodes of the series alongside Bagman and Bad Choice Road and It's crazy to me that Michael McKean didn't get an Emmy nomination for that episode.
This season was a masterpiece. Watching Chuck lose it in court was one of the best moments. Up there with Face off and Ozymandias I’d rank the seasons not including 6 because it isn’t finish: 1. Season 5 2. Season 3 3. Season 2 4. Season 4 5. Season 1
The Chuck-tearing-the-house-montage where he tries to find the last vestige of electricity. Shipping out and dismantling the electrics. Feeling the walls for electricity with his illness. Tearing the wall. Looking at the and eventually destroying the electricity meter, kicking the gas lantern so it falls was intense. It had gotten to the point he was so psychosomatic, he may have been feeling the electricity generating from his body, going from Matrix knowledge and you can tell he just wanted the pain to stop. It was the sum up of a sane man slowly and then quickly unravelling.
You hit it on the head. I almost teared up at the yoga scene and the fire at the end really hit me hard. This was on par with Breaking Bad at its best moments. Everything just worked here.
S3 was the season that grabbed me the most & said this show is fantastic on another level! The writing is incredible & dialogue & acting between Jimmy & Chuck is perfection. Love it
If Hector hadn't had the stroke he'd have gotten himself killed trying to overthrow Eladio. The Salamancas might be psychos but they were smart enough to realise Gus wasn't gonna let Hector killing Max go but Eladio and Bolsa were blinded by greed.
I actually thought the main reason jimmy was manipulating the elderly people at sand piper was because he knew if they all waited long enough for a bigger settlement that a lot of them would end up passing away before they got their money, and that him getting his money was a secondary reason for doing what he did. At least that was how I interpreted it
The pill swap episode had the intensity of a finale. I was having chest pain’s myself. And that’s where this show gets it right, with a heavy focus on the details and the meticulous execution. Miss Nacho already. Great review!
8:06 What he did to Irene is one of Jimmy's shittier acts. Especially the stuff he buys her to make it look like she thinks she's better than her friends.
Have really been enjoying your reviews. They make me wish I had done a re-watch prior to the final season. One point about the unbelievability of the Kim/Jimmy relationship. We know we're dealing with excellent writers that plan ahead. I think there's a chance Kim is going to betray him. She always has an emotional distance from Jimmy. Remember in Episode 3 of this season when she revealed that he had a choice to be loyal to the cartel or be a rat? She then said "it's his choice." That's a very dismissive comment, not something you'd say to someone you really care about.
I appreciate your BCS reviews. Please include spoiler warnings or edit out the spoilers pertaining to future seasons in relation to the season you are currently reviewing. Thanks.
season 3 of breaking bad in my opinion is the weakest season, but.. season 1 and 2 are essential watching plus the things season 3 adds to the rest of the franchise is justified. Just seemed like the season of 'talking'. There was a lot to be said.

Yeah in season 4 it’s revealed that was the biggest reason Chuck killed himself

Me too. The editing style is awesome.

Just finished the entire series last night and ran to YT today to watch your reviews :) excited I can finally watch and not skip past quickly LOL
Chicanery is one of the best episodes of TV I've ever seen. Brilliant season of television.

I really enjoy your reviews and you've shown me movies I haven't even heard of. Cody your a badass!!!!

Not only did Mikes family not get his money but they never could’ve found out what happened to him. Walt was such a bastard.

Thanks for reviewing BCS! My favorite show on TV right now with Ozark

I appreciate the optimism but he was definitely rushing it along to get his payout.
been looking forward to this review. thanks cody
My favourite episode of the series is Chicanery.
A perfect bottle episode.
that one was amazing
personally mine was Lantern with each of the plots having a turning point.
now we get to see a tonal shift for the next season
I agree Cody, this is the season which for me tied up to the BB universe and upped the stakes.. Just about to watch season 6 episode 2.
Chuck's plan showed he wasn't that different from Jimmy despite seeing himself as a good man.
Yeah I thought so too
The pill swap episode had the intensity of a finale. I was having chest pain’s myself. And that’s where this show gets it right, with a heavy focus on the details and the meticulous execution. Miss
Nacho already. Great review!
I wasnt expecting a spoiler in the comments of a video about season 3
@@HeyyHeyyHeyy08 , I mean, it is a season three “review”
@@brandih9802 yea, "Season 3". Nothing happened in that season to "miss" nacho. From your comment it implies that something will

This show is great, I wish there were more tv shows like this one and of course Breaking Bad.
I’m really hoping they release a nice Better Call Saul box set on blu ray after S6
"That's your problem Jimmy
With you the end always justify the means and then you are forever shocked when it all blows up in your face"
Chuck.
