    the werner ziegler storyline hit me so hard, that’s when i realized nobody could write a show like the breaking bad writers, making a straight up construction project plot line heartfelt and entertaining as hell was impressive

    I love how the season ends “It’s all good man” cut to black. I got goosebumps after seeing that. Might be my favorite ending to a BCS season yet. The full transformation to Saul Goodman.

      That episode has one of my favorite BB Universe moments when Jimmy seems like he's breaking down on the stand, and it looks like he may just finally be feeling some grief over the loss of his brother, only for it to completely and utterly be bullshit just to spin the bars opinion.
      So tragic yet so perfect.

      That moment was great love it when he said "l could see the matrix baby and dodge bullets" but you know the saul Goodman we see in breaking bad is a total sociopath who just cares about himself and making money, and we are not there yet and it's the final season, something tells me that the writers might be running out of time.

    Hehe, passage of time seems to be a problem with Vince Gilligan. My only big issue with Breaking Bad is that it’s hard to believe all of seasons 1-4 happen in under a year. Would’ve been much more believable if in season 5 Walt is celebrating his 52nd or 53rd birthday.

    There was a time jump in the episode Something Stupid. The montage in the beginning of the episode takes place over a period of like 8 months. A lot of people don't notice that.

    This is the season that really starts to trickle in a little breaking bad at a time. It's almost like a build up. From season 4 to where we are now it feels like the breaking bad has slowly krept up on us and we're full on over that threshold now. Great video Cody.

    The biggest difference, in my opinion, between better call Saul and breaking bad is the in your face violence that is abundant in BB but all but completely absent from BCS.. im not saying one is better than the other, but I do think BB gets the wrap of being a more intense show just solely because of the brutality of it.. BCS replaces that brutality with more humor, and more raw emotion and inner conflict.. both shows r masterpieces in my opinion, each in their own way

    The episode S4E7 - Something Stupid just does an 8 or 9 month time skip, you don’t really see a gradual change of time. With Jimmy & Kim separating and the giant progress being made in building the lab, and Werner being friends with Mike and actually confiding in him with wanting to go see his wife, you can see some changes.
    But I will agree that it still doesn’t feel like A WHOLE LOT has changed, they still pretty much feel like the same people with their characters only moving a tiny bit in the time skip

  • @moritzburger7252

    I love season four it might also be my favorite season, but I am not quite happy with one plot decision. Maybe one can convince me that everything has to be as it is:
    Before Werner sneaks out he asks Mike if he can go see his wife for some days and I cant help but feeling like Mike should have seen it coming that Werner would not just accept no as an answer. I think he either should have been prepared for a flight attempt or maybe even allow him to go. In the end Lalo never would have known that Fring is building something if he hadnt found out that they were searching for Werner.

    • @patrickthomas8890
      @patrickthomas8890 2 года назад

      I thought Werner actually sneaking out because he was homesick was ridiculous and writers room nonsense. Such a contrived way to come up with a conflict.

    • @moritzburger7252
      @moritzburger7252 2 года назад +2

      @@patrickthomas8890 I actually bought that. We get to know Werner as a very sensitive person (he almost throws up on the drive to the construction site, he cares a lot about his workers and of course he loves his wife to the moon and misses her like hell). But just like us, Michael should know that and be aware that simply telling him to "finish the job" will not stop him from wanting to see his wife.

    Wow what Gus went through to make that lab was pure hell. Death, blood, sweat & tears just for Jesse & Walt to set it on fire. Right before Mike died he was right and said we had a good thing going with Fring but you and your ego! If you would of just known your place we’d all be good right now. Season 4 really makes me appreciate Gus much more and how far he will go to run a tight ship. Honestly I could have went without season 1. Season 1 and 2 are kind of one in the same season 3 finally gives you a breaking bad feeling.

  • @David-xc4we

    Season 4 is a very good season. I just felt some storylines dragged the season a little bit too much, like the storyline where mike had those germans working. As much as I hate Chuck, the show just wasn't the same anymore. After Season 3 ended, we waited a long year wait for the show to come back and it still did not disappoint. It was great to finally see Jimmy McGill to see transition into Saul Goodman even though I do like Jimmy a dash better. And let's not forget, the introduction to Lalo Salamanca. Tuco may be crazy, but Lalo is a bigger terror than his cousins combined. The final minutes sure SHOCKED US BIG TIME. 9.5/10

    12 months felt like they have t passed because Jimmy never really moved on himself from chuck. He blamed Howard, he suppressed his emotions and guilt in his daily life, he grew apart from Kim, as she did with him. Time didn’t feel like it passed, because nothing for Jimmy really happened, which is his worst nightmare because all he wants is to move on from chuck emotionally

    The fact that Kim isn't mentioned in Breaking Bad doesn't mean anything one way or the other. Breaking Bad was Walter Whites story, not Saul Goodmans. We didn't hear about Gomeys wife either. Or Ed the Disappearer, etc, etc

    • @JamesCasatelli
      @JamesCasatelli 2 года назад

      @@Cazz8203 No, it actually doesn't. Again, Breaking Bad was Walter Whites story, not anyone else's. We only saw enough of Saul in that show to forward Walt's story. And it's likely Kim didn't exist as a character when they wrote Saul for the first time. We can't say one way or the other if he is "more or less" Saul than Jimmy in BB, especially in regards to Kim.
      Also, Jimmy has always been Saul. I'm not sure why everyone is saying he is going through some sort of transformation. He is having some sort of crisis at the moment due to his foray into the desert, and he does have guilt over the wire transfer guy, but he still took Lalo's money. He's never tried to hide the fact that he is Saul.

    I thought the Gene scene in episode 1 was INCREDIBLE, but the season was all downhill from there. Surprised I didn’t strain an ocular muscle from eye rolling so hard when it was revealed that the super lab construction was going to be a season long arc. Werner escaping to take a break and talk to his wife was so contrived. At this point in the series, some of the writers gimmicks became so apparent and annoying. Instead of coming up with interesting stories, they just mess with the timeline and jump ahead to keep you guessing as to what’s happening (like the letter writing campaign). It’s really just a trick to distract from the fact that there just is not a super compelling plot unfolding, and how putting characters in danger (like Huell) when we already know where they end up years later just doesn’t create any tension.

    To me there’s always been something a little off about this season. It’s a very transitional season. We lost Chuck who is in my opinion the greatest character/storyline that’s came out of Better Call Saul. And we also see Jimmy/Saul not be a lawyer for the first time ever in both shows apart from short flashbacks. I think my ranking would probably be like 3, 2, 1, 5, 6, 4 No season is bad, not even close but 4 is definitely the weakest overall.

    • @patrickthomas8890
      @patrickthomas8890 2 года назад

      I thought season 3 had some weak moments…like how it came back after a cliffhanger with loads of anticipation just to spend 90% of the episode showing Mike pull a car apart looking for a tracking device, but it was still good overall and ended with such a bang.
      Season 4 had some GREAT moments, but was weak overall…the trying to tie into the BB timeline was boring to me. I never watched BB and wondered or cared how the lab was built, so an entire season addressing that was disappointing for me.
      I also don’t get how Gus instantly knew Nacho tried to kill Hector. That was cartoon level supervillain stuff. His monologue to Hector in the hospital was redundant character building and cheesy as hell. So cheesy I felt constipated after watching it haha. I think BCS has far too much Gus, which has been ruining his mystique. The performance has become kind of silly too. “You….are…………….MINE!” or “Lalo Salamanca……………LIVES!” Ugh. Feels like a soap opera bad guy.

      @sondosoft4603 2 года назад +2

      @@jamescarrotcsl8 Didn’t think anyone cared about my opinion lol. But yeah it definitely has. I’d probably put it level or slightly higher than 5. I really didnt enjoy the Howard scheme but I don’t think we were supposed to so it’s kind of bittersweet. I understand why they did it but as a viewer I really didn’t have a good time watching it. Conversely though, I really enjoyed what happened in 607, really shows the moral decline and a true consequence to an action. And we need to see those Saul-creating moments. It’s an odd thing, we knew the show would be a tragedy but it can be hard to watch with it being this tragic. And also, I mean we’re ranking masterpieces here so take everything with a grain of salt. I love them all. I’m sure 6 will be much higher once it’s come to a close. But I really enjoyed the “BetterCallSaul-ness” of Better Call Saul. And naturally as Jimmy morphs into Saul we’re going to lose that. As Odenkirk has stated many times, Saul is a much less interesting character then Jimmy because he’s a facade. And I think all of that naturally impacts the viewer’s experience too. Hence why I rank the early seasons so high.

    • @sondosoft4603
      @sondosoft4603 2 года назад

      @@patrickthomas8890 Season 3 was where things came together and they established a clear tone for the show. That’s why I put it as the best. 1&2 were a bit meandering, hence why so many viewers dropped off. Yeah 4 will always be at the bottom for me. I loved the completion of the Werner storyline for what it does to show the decline of Mike’s morality. And I love the introduction of Lalo. But apart from that there’s not much I really care for. I disagree on the Gus and Nacho thing though. He didn’t know, he had a suspicion and then Victor followed Nacho to confirm it. It wouldn’t be wild to say Gus knew about the issues with Nacho’s dad and Hector as well. Gus has a lot of eyes in a lot of places. Gus has always been a bit Hollywood. But we’re also seeing a different Gus, I don’t think that can be discounted. I take your criticisms but I think they’re a bit harsh. I enjoy it, I think it enhances the Gus we already know. Even if I don’t love love S4, I do think they needed to expound upon Gus at some point if they wanted to keep him in BCS. The Lalo Salamanca lives line was definitely funny though.
