Same. I usually don't feel gratitude whenever a show ends. Appreciation yes but gratitude? Hell no. That changed with Better Call Saul, it really felt like the ending and bookend of something very special. I think I also felt thankful because Gilligan and Odenkirk were respectful to us as fans treating the characters right. Specially on times were beloved shows, movies and characters are being resurrected left and right just for the sake of money, clout and cheap fan service. Better Call Saul made Breaking Bad even more special while being it's own thing and it really feels like a gift to be thankful for.

Jimmy wanted to get caught. He saw the signs, took note and ignored them. The second he decided to roll the cancer patient, it became clear... Jimmy had to prove to himself that this is a fair and just world, where bad people are punished. It is why many become lawyers in the first place. Jimmy had to show the system how deeply flawed it was. He illustrated that his sentence could be whittled down to a meager 7 years, then as if to give the justice system the finger for not going at him hard enough, he tanked the deal and took it on the chin for a sentence he felt was more commensurate with the severity of his crimes. He lost his freedom but gained his dignity and a certain reputation in the yard. He now knows who he is and is at peace with it.

    Yup, brilliant writing IMO.
The writers managed to create a cult following so strong that even when they wanted to DESTROY Jimmy/Saul/Gene,
they did it in such a way that they, the writers,
don't cause friction or disdain from their follower audience towards them.
    It's GENIUS:
How to do it without alienating the audience?
They can't destroy him directly, so......they make him destroy himself!
That there is just a stroke of creative genius.
Not only destroy him in the present, but also in the past. They try all sorts of time-machine tricks to even go as far as to destroy him in our eyes in the past.
Even if it means Gene breaking character completely.
Even if it means Saul senselessly throwing a meager 7 year sentence out of the window & get what is practically a life sentence just to see Kim.
They just can't do it themselves so to speak; so they get Saul to do it to himself.

I just thought of the perfect viewing order of the BB/BCS universe! What if one were to watch BCS through 609 (“Fun and Games”), watch the entirety of BB and El Camino, and then finish with the final four episodes of BCS? The tension of BCS gets maintained (as you don't yet know the fates of the characters), and BB doesn't get spoiled by the final four episodes. You also don't have to worry about the pace of BCS slowing to a crawl near the end because you jump straight into BB. Instead, El Camino serves as a transitional installment that bridges the gap between the slam-bang finale of BB and the more pensive and reflective sensibility of BCS's conclusion. That's just my two cents though. Let me know what you think!

    • @jpeg204

I loved this episode, in my opinion it absolutely stuck the landing. I loved the whole time machine theme Mike was gonna go back to night his son was killed then decided to go back to when he first took a bribe as he told his son to take bribe. I also loved that Walt’s regret was the company and not all the awful things that he had done. A great incite into his character.

I think the point of the Walt and Jesse cameo in the Breaking Bad episode was to show us the moment Saul was kidnapped and put in front of an open grave, since that's such an important moment in the finale, instead of hoping people remember it from Breaking Bad.

I can see the parrallel stories between Walter and Saul, how they were both screwed over either by Grey Matter, which would have put Walter into fame and notoriety regarding his discovery that could have made him millions and be part of that snobbish elite society of people who he would be mingling with. Jimmy wanted to be part of that same society, being partners in his brother's law firm. They both were kicked to the curb, but ended up making millions in their own failed schemes of being sort of villans that wanted respect which they couldn't get legitimately through a normal existence. Their regrets and wishing they could both go back in time and change their circumstances made for a well written dialog in this scene in the basement.

Only episode that I think was not really needed was Nippy. But that was needed for palette cleansing and getting distance for the past three massively anxious episodes that closed the Better Call Saul timeline. Also we needed time to kind of forget Jimmy/Saul of BCS timeline and get into the headspace of Gene to really get and understand the epilogue.
Overall this season was perfection, the final was perfect, and that solidifies the series as perfect. There were some average episodes, some things I thought were too out there (like scamming Mesa Verde in support of the old guy, which has many issues for me), but overall it's perfect show.

I don't think Kim is necessarily practicing law again. She said her new Mexico Bar card doesn't have an expiration date, and that's how she was able to go see him. So she conned her way in there. She might just be volunteering at that law office to help people again, but that doesn't for sure mean she's going to be a,lawyer again

Sometimes small things in life keeps you going. Depression is a horrible thing, and you look for small things to brighten your day a little, for me it's tv shows. Especially shows that is amazing and hits home, and this show from the start gave me something to look forward to. When it was over and the cast said thank you, I broke down and cried. The ending was right.

Traditionally a lot of shows would have made an episode with him on the run the whole time but instead they decided to have him get caught early and show Saul Goodman when he was in his element behind bars. You really got to see all aspects of his character and the way Bob Odenkirk switched back and forth between the personas was just phenomenal and he should win an Emmy.

To me it was a perfect finale and even more !! Despite not following this show since 2015 (unfortunately) it was an incredible journey watching this series, revisiting this amazing universe and characters!! At least I followed episodes week by week of season 5 and now 6 !!! I still don’t know which is my fav breaking bad or better call saul but I LITERALLY DO LOVE BOTH EQUALLY !!!!!! I’m so freaking happy and satisfied with it, i still didn’t get used with the black and white stuff especially of these last couple of episodes but that’s ok !! I need to rewatch the other seasons but my 1st impression is S6 was already my fav BCS season since the middle lol but it’s just amazing watching this whole universe, BB, BCS and El camino !! I’m really curious to see a gta type of game of breaking bad pitched by Vince Gillian !! Great video!! I’m gonna sleep very happy now lol I’M GONNA MISS THESE CHARACTERS !!!

You were the first one who talked about Walter and Jimmy's relationship here on youtube. There's a very important scene, when Walter talks about his regrets and how he felt betrayed by Elliott and Gretchen...Jimmy said he could do something for Walter, but Walter says Jimmy would be the last person he would look for. That comment offended Jimmy. Walter makes a bad judgment about Jimmy, even though he is a much worse person than Jimmy. It's ironic, in Breaking Bad Jimmy always treats Skyler well, but she's always rude to him.
Jimmy always treated other people well whether in Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul Era, but those same people, sometimes worse people than they were, always treated him badly. That's why in my opinion, Jimmy Redemption wasn't guilty of his crimes or his relationship with his brother. His redemption was for Kim, the only person who really liked and respected Jimmy.
