Yes, one day before the first day of Better Call Saul when he delivers the newspaper that he says it here, that first interaction was really the start of saul
Yep this is as close as he can get to time travel. Going back to the moment to take Chuck's advice to change his path. Also probably his biggest regret not to have heart to heart talks with Chuck.
If Jimmy has talked shop with Chuck like Chuck wanted, he could have gotten legal advice and guidance from "the most brilliant guy he ever met". And Chuck would have seen that he takes it seriously and changed his opinion about Jimmy.

Not sure if you caught it but the book he brought Chuck was "The Time Machine" which probably means that it was that conversation that Jimmy would go back and change, his last chance to make things right with his brother.
it was technically for both of them. Chuck had one last chance as well, but they were both too proud and too stubborn to reach out. Chuck knew Jimmy stole the ice, Jimmy knew Chuck was going to be condescending to him about his clients. And they both knew what the other was thinking, because it's the same conversation they always have. They could have had an actual, real, conversation about each other and repair their relationship, but they didn't.

@@joemalachiwsy7304 The exit sign made it feel like Chuck was watching Jimmy redeem himself. I also didn’t realize how much I missed Chuck until he showed up in this episode.
The third flashback with Chuck was definitely Jimmy's biggest regret. Maybe if he'd taken that one opportunity to connect with Chuck, things may be different.
Regarding Walt's regret. He talks about grey matter, but when he says "my regrets", it focuses on the watch Jessie gave him. Implying his actual biggest regret is everything that went down with Jessie, even if he wouldn't admit it.
@@manaulhoque6507 it also imo related to a scene in BB where mike called walt a "ticking time bomb" (it showed this watch ticking very loudly at the episode end) and everything he built up basically prolapsed and affected everyone he loved.
18:45 I think the watch wasn't a reference to Gray Matter, it's the watch that Jesse gave Walt for his birthday, showing that he regrets the way he treated Jesse over the course of Breaking Bad
So incredible that Peter and the writers know they don't have to explain these things to their audience. That's part of the reason Vince and Peter have been so good. They've said numerous times they're allergic to exposition.
A neat detail that I appreciate is that when Saul asked Walt what he regrets, he glanced at the watch Jesse gave him for his birthday. As toxic as their partnership was, he truly did care for Jesse like a son
I don’t think it was that he cared for him like a son. I think Walt looking at his watch is him WISHING he did and regretting that he didn’t. Walt habitually used, mistreated, and lied to Jesse when he was following his lead. He did have many of moments where he appreciated and looked out for Jesse, but for the most part, he ruined his life. I’m sure in the moment of looking at his watch, Walt wanted to go back and undo the damage he had caused.
I recognized her right away as soon as she turned around in that room she was in when Jimmy passed her and I gasped. I would have never expected her to make an appearance and I loved that she did. Also I am fine with never seeing Skyler White since she took her deal and is living her life away from the spotlight. I’m sure she hates going to courts and hates lawyers.
Saul doing the pistols at the end made me choke up. This show is woven together so well and even tiny scenes like that hold so much emotional weight and meaning. Especially all the time machine references tying back to the first episode of this season when they're emptying his mansion and you see it by his bedside.
This was a perfect series finale. I absolutely loved the time machine scenes that were woven throughout the episode. In the end, he was actually able to create his time machine by confessing in court and going back to Jimmy McGill. He brought so much closure to so many different people. I love how the time machine also relates to the series jumping between Jimmy, Saul, and Gene. Just a masterful episode of television and a perfect conclusion to this universe. The flame of the lighter and embers of the cigarette being the only things in color at the end absolutely destroyed me. Kim making the finger guns with her hands at her side was the final nail in the coffin for my soul. Such a bittersweet yet beautiful ending.
The time machine scenes only jumped between Jimmy and Saul. But really only Jimmy. He was technically Saul during the scenes with Mike and Walt, and was Jimmy during the scene with Chuck. But he was acting and behaving as Jimmy in all of them. The Gene perosna wasn't involved at all there.
Peter Gould hasn't closed the door completely on future spinoffs. He has hinted at a possibility of a Kim Wexler spinoff as he believes there is more story to tell for her. But for the foreseeable future he said he and Vince need a break from the BB universe.
@@The_WIll_OF_D99 They've basically said at this moment they're done. They recognize there are more stories they could tell, but right now they are not interested in doing so. But they also said that they wouldn't be surprised if one day they do get that itch to come back. Basically they're being very honest and realistic and saying "look we don't intend to do another, but we also know we could change our minds". I think they even joked that they'd probably want to come back to it if their next projects fail.
28:44 what? No. He changed his mind at the plane when he realized that Kim came clean with an actual risk of losing everything. (well, it really started when he was trying to get the ice cream with Howard Hamlin's story and realized Kim already did) The whole point of going to that court was coming clean. He maybe changed his mind again about confessing about Chuck but not about confessing everything about his involvement with Walter White. If he wasn't going to do that, then what was he gonna do then? He didn't have anything more to say really to reduce his sentence or hurt Kim.
👏🏼👏🏼DAMN these callbacks. His fate was etched in stone from the very beginning. If anyone remembers Sauls introduction BB S2/EP8. When he, Walt & Jeese are in the desert. Only 3 people in that scene, each having a different fate. Saul says "the way I see it somebody's going to prison the only question is who"
No he didnt change his mind after coming to court?! He had nothing about Kim to give to the Govt that she didn't already tell them. He literally said "I fed them BS, because i wanter her to come and hear this" He decided early on what he was about to do.
The flashback with Chuck was the day before the first episode. In the first episode Chuck points out that Saul brought the Financial Times. This flashback was Saul’s time machine moment. His last opportunity to heal things with Chuck and before the scam with skateboarders that kicked over the first domino in the BB/BCS universe.
Fran told Gene in the phone call that Bill is a public defender now Edit: Chuck had the "Time Machine" by HG Wells book. He regrets walking out of that conversation and not forming a bond with his brother other than familial obligations. Also Kim is still open to a civil suit
Saul tells Walt not to leave, to turn himself in. He points out that Walt doesn’t have a lot of time left, that he’d be infamous in jail, “the John Dillinger of the Metropolitan Detention Center.” The prisoner transport scene in the Finale reminded me of that. A beautiful callback :)
Excellent reaction. I think the conversation with Chuck was his moment of regret and I point to the emphasis of the book, The Time Machine, as the writers underscoring that point.
During the flashback sequence Chuck is reading "The Time Machine" by H. G. Wells. And that's why Jimmy mentions a "time machine" when he is actually talking about regrets. Not connecting with his brother in that moment is his one true regret. But he can't admit it, so without even realizing it, Jimmy uses the time machine hypothetical to hint at his regrets. Genius writing.
He made up the stuff on the plane to get Kim to the court. The courtroom was his time machine. He confessed his regrets, and it was all for Kim. She was the only one who could reveal Jimmy McGill. Beautiful ending…it was perfection.
Unfortunately she's the only one who sees Jimmy McGill. Everyone still sees Saul but he doesn't care about anyone else only her... and that's why this ending is so beautiful!!!
So he pulled off something even Walt, one of the most brilliant scientists, deems impossible. A truly magical moment. Makes me remember the Interstellar quote: "Love is the one thing we're capable of perceiving that transcends dimensions of time and space".
They weren’t regrets, he was simply demonstrating to Kim, the US legal fraternity and to the public that he could whenever he chose to, negotiate a highly resourced team of Federal Prosecutors down to the most generous sentencing anyone had seen up until that point. Further to this, he wanted it to be known to Kim and the general public that he was the criminal mastermind of the entire HISENBURG operation and not some high school chemistry teacher and his junkie partner, it was his “Walter White” moment of pride showing through.
No saul planned that from the beginning. HE CLEARLY SAID “ADX WAS HELL” because he knew he was gonna screw himself over in the court and theyll end up sending him there (and thats where all his previous clients are hence the good prison life hes living). Fucking love saul
2:44 Gene getting caught in a trash bin, there was an opening I think it was season 6 ep 1 where the Saul Goodman cutout was also in a trash bin in the same way.
No, he didn’t change his mind in the courtroom. He was wearing the suit to make him look as unlikable to the judge as possible. That way when he speaks about his past crimes Saul goodman, the judge believes he hasn’t changed as he’s still dressed for the job. Also he changed his mind on the plane when he found out kim was being sued, and he lied to the government about her so that Kim would be in the same room when he confessed. - he also is regarded as a king in the prison, everyone in there admires him - Kim was also doing the finger guns when her hands were by her side as she’s leaving the prison - plus this show is really better than breaking bad in every single way, let’s just be honest here. From character development, story telling, writing, design, production, cinematography, and so on
I feel like Breaking Bad was great, but this was their masterpiece. This show allowed them to experiment in ways that Breaking Bad would not have let them. I remember someone complaining about how much dialogue was in the show.. The show wasn't for everyone, but for people that enjoy dialogue, great acting and cinematography this show was a master class.
Looking back this is kinda a fitting posthumous justice against Walter. For all his ego and flexing he wasn’t the criminal mastermind he fancied himself to be, just a lucky sob… and now that’s been laid bare in front of a good deal of the people he’d affected. Deflates the Heisenberg legacy somewhat.
I love all the little callbacks in this episode, especially when Jimmy & Kim are leaning against the wall at the end sharing a cigarette like in season 1, it even has the same angled shadow on them. If they decide to release a box set of this series I'm deffs gonna cop that.
Did they miss the part in the Chuck flashback with Chuck's book that says "Time Machine"? Chuck was his biggest regret. Reminder: what did Jimmy want to talk to Chuck about the last time he saw him? His regrets and remorse. He's been running away from his guilt and regrets and feelings about Chuck ever since Howard mentioned the insurance thing. In a way, he's been fulfilling Chuck's final wish for him. He didn't actually stop caring about Chuck. He just put up walls. I only ask this because after the flashback they still seemed to think his regret was Kim. I'm sure he regrets certain things he did with respect to Kim, but his biggest and most important regret is Chuck. During the court scene he says: "I could've tried harder. I should've tried harder." Also, remember in season 4 when he wants to be a lawyer again after his 1 year of suspension, and he fails his first attempt. Why? Because he was seen as insincere. Why? It was clear when the bar people asked him what inspired him to go into law and he made zero mention of Chuck, but Kim told the audience anyway: he didn't mention Chuck. He's always been evading and running when it comes to Chuck, and he wishes that night he'd sat down with his only brother in the world and had that conversation he blew off. He wished he tried harder. He didn't want it to end the way it did. Everything that happened with Chuck is what set him down the path of Saul Goodman. His reason for getting clean and trying to not cut corners was always Chuck, so as their relationship got worse and worse, so too did he.
Also, Jimmy didn't absolve Kim of anything. Nothing he said or did affected her chances of prosecution or a civil suit. He never said "I did all the stuff to Howard Hamlin and forced Kim into it".
Sometimes I wonder if you actually watch the show and appreciate the complexity of the characters in both better call saul and breaking bad. You often see the characters as just black and white. Saul clearly came up with admitting to everything on the plane or possibly even earlier, he literally says it in the courtroom scene.
His time machine moment evolved with time. First he wanted money (as told to Mike). When he got money, he wanted physical wellness (as told to Walt). By the time he was finally made accountable for his actions, all he wanted was to make things right with the only person left in his life who he cared for. And he did that. What a journey. What a character arc. What a finale.
Thank you for reacting to this series, I can’t believe this journey has finally come to an end. Just sublime in every way. Your reaction videos have made this journey even better, I have loved hearing your individual observations and perspectives on the story and production. Thank you!!
Suraj idk who you heard but that's not what either Gilligan or Gould said. They said they want to move on for now but both basically said they wouldn't rule out returning at some point. I personally hope they don't though, leave it at two pretty much perfect shows
I love that Rana is talking about hating Saul so much and not falling for his tricks again... WHILE she's falling for one of his tricks again. Classic.
We met him as Saul, but loved him as Jimmy. The only way we could still love him and 6+ years of him is if he took it as Jimmy standing up and paid the price. Any other outcome we would not still love Jimmy. It's kind of 'obvious' but it was the only way because we believed in him, and still believe that Jimmy is a good person.
I just realized what he regretted while I was watching again now with you guys: Chuck. He asked in his two lowest moments (well, the moments after he was done being in peril) about time travel. He thought back to that random encounter that we saw in this episode. He remembered the book " The Time Machine". He wishes he had listened to Chuck at least sometimes, but more than that, he regrets pushing Chuck to suicide. Oakley said, "That thing with your brother, that wasn't even a crime." Jimmy's answer? "Yes it was"
I think what made Saul(Jimmy) decide to come clean is when he found out about Kim's confessional while negotiating with the DA. He then talked to his Attorney, Bill Oakley, on the plane about it and said what he did to make sure Kim was present at the hearing when he confessed.
This show was so good in making complex characters with complex relationships, and going through complex developments. To the point that everyone is genuinely happy to see Chuck, a character we all used to hate, come back for the finale.
I can't express enough how happy i was to saw Chuck and Jimmy's interaction for the last time. They showed us that Chuck really tried to persuade Jimmy to reconsider his choice of career. He knew Jimmy didn't actually want to be a lawyer tried to talk Jimmy out of it but always ended up nowhere with Jimmy avoiding the topic. I would like to think the things he did to stop Jimmy were partly motivated by care, it was desperate ways since talking didn't work to prevent Jimmy from becoming a con-man with law degree. Unfortunately the result was far from what's expected.
"Hi Jimmy" the viewer is Kim. She loved Jimmy liked we did, we believed in him, she knew the best in him and him being that person that we all loved again was the best but bitter sweet ending we needed. We ALL know he deserves it, but we still love him and he took the high road eventually.
im glad jesse was the only one to get away…he is the only one who wanted to actually get out and regretted everything he did and hated all the stuff he was forced to do…Walt was a terrible person from start to finish. Saul never changed. he is proud of what he did and the money he made.
Peter Gould was pretty clear Saul didn't do anything to "save" Kim from criminal prosecution or more importantly from a civil suit from Cheryl. Remember in season 2 episode 5 when Jimmy tries to help Kim escape doc review she says "you don't save me I save me". Kim has never needed "saving" she's made her own decisions and is willing to face the full consequences (in fact Kim is the one who constantly saves Jimmy). To have Jimmy come in and absolve her of culpability is a bad arc for her character. Kim will probably have to work the rest of her life paying off Cheryl but she's unburdened herself enough to be able to make a positive impact for people at the free law office. When just a short while ago she wouldn't even take responsibility for choosing an ice cream flavor at an office birthday party.
Kim's arc was done the moment she confessed to the widow. She had emotionally freed herself and was ambivalent to any consequences thereafter. Saul having any positive affect on her legal issues would be inconsequential to her arc.
Many of my friends who watched the season were deeply moved like me. This season didn't have the same ups and downs or gun blazing as previous seasons and breaking bad, but it ended with the heaviest emotions and the most accurate views on the world, life, and values. That's what the cast wanted to show the world.
I think in the scene with Walt, Jimmy really was going to open up about his regrets, but Walt kept talking down to him and Jimmy decided against sharing anything really personal, so he pulled the slip and fall story instead.
I can't believe no one on the couch noticed the moment Jimmy heard Kim's name and he was working his plea down, that's when he knew he had to fess up and save her. After all these episodes and series, you still did not understand the man...
There were a ton of confessions in season 6...Nacho confesses to Hector that he was the one who put him in the wheelchair, Gus confessed to Lalo that he planned to kill every Salamanca family member in the cartel, Kim confessed to the court and Howard's wife about how she and Saul screwed over Howard and how it lead to his murder, and Jimmy confessed to his role in what happened with Heisenberg's meth empire and his role in Chuck's suicide.
He regretted not having the talk with Chuck which we saw in the flashback. You'd have known that if you didn't talk over the scene where he picks up the HG Wells The Time Machine book.
I mean he said under oath in court that he lied and that she didn’t have any involvement in Howard’s murder but idk if that’s enough considering she gave her own written affidavit to the DA and Howard’s wife. Idk if 1 has more credence than the other I was thinking maybe Jimmy’s would because it was actually a statement he made after he took the oath in court
@@jeremyroberts8822 maybe she wasn't involved in Howard's murder but in her affidavit she clearly said she tried to defame howard.. that's enough for a defamation case..
Had a blast watching this with you guys all the way from your Breaking Bad reactions to these week-to-week Better Call Saul ones. I think it's beautiful that Jimmy spent the entire show utterly failing to do any meaningful introspection on his life until he let it all out and faced all his biggest regrets head on when it mattered the most. He took shortcuts his entire life. And while Chuck said it was never too late to change, he also said several times that he didn't think Jimmy was capable of it. Well now he finally did, and he finally seems at peace.
I've seen other TV reviewers say that Jimmy helped Kim somehow with her legal situation, but I don't see it. He told a bunch of lies just to get her into the room, then immediately recanted them. I'm no lawyer, but I don't think that changes her situation at all. If there is a prosecutable crime, multiple people can be convicted of it. Howard's widow may still want to punish her (and would get more money going after her than Jimmy). I don't think he was trying to take the fall for her, and I don't think she'd want that anyway. She wanted to be held accountable. I don't know if Howard's widow will sue, or will be successful at the attempt, but I think the possibility still hangs in the air. I also saw this ultimate act as another instance of Jimmy taking his cues on how to live his life from people he respects. First it was Chuck, who inspired him to become a lawyer. After that fell apart, he looked to Kim. In S2 Ep1, once she was finished with their little scheme with the guy in the bar, she went back to being a lawyer, so he did too. Much later, he took her lead on the Hamlin thing. And now he sees she confessed, so he decides to do so as well. He lies, as he said, just to get her in the courtroom, because she's the only judge that matters to him. He makes his first confession, then looks back to her for approval, but she appears to be unmoved, skeptical. Is this another slipping Jimmy con, she may be thinking, like when he got his law license reinstated? So he stands back up and makes another confession, more heartfelt this time, including his true feelings about Chuck. He looks back again for her approval, and this time, she shows the barest hint of satisfaction and acceptance. And so his conscience is clean.
I don't know why people keep saying he got Kim off the hook. The only stuff he got her off the hook for was the stuff he made up to get her in the court room. She's still on the hook for everything she said in her own confession.
Oh my God you guys gave me goosebumps when you said even though this is the final episode of the Breaking bad Universe let it live in cinematic history with a beautiful kiss at the end 😥 💘
Suraj, Jimmy was never even trying to get less than seven years by leveraging the story about Howard / "throwing Kim under the bus". You completely ran off the rails with that theory. His final request was literally just to get ice cream every week, LOL. He definitely changed his mind on the plane, telling the marshall that he "had more to trade" was simply a way to get Kim in the courtroom. Also, what he did at the end wasn't to exonerate Kim. It doesn't exonerate her. He's just showing her that he has atoned for his sins, a final attempt to make good with her. And for that he literally gave his freedom. Thus the completion of the redemption of Jimmy McGill.
Think Saul recognized that every time he conned his way out of a situation, he puts himself into a deeper pit and somebody innocent had to pay the price for it. Think this was his way of throwing in the towel, accepting where his road was leading him.
What a journey! Loved your reactions! One quick point: the statute of limitations for wrongful death lawsuit in NM is 3 years. Cheryl Hamlin can’t sue Kim for Howard’s death since 6 years have passed. Probably why she can’t find a lawyer.
Jimmy was already in prison of his own mind as gene. He was trapped wanting to go back to the sual days when his life was colourful. But now in prison, he's more free, he's respected and seem to have friends, he has a simple life and can now be set free from his guilt.
He decided for sure on the plane to protect Kim. Kim was the one thing he cared about more than money and he was able to use his words as a time machine to protect her. It's so funny how reactors say the exact opposite of what happens next with this show.
you guys completely missed that Chuck was reading HG wells' the time machine. Meaning that the time machine thing jimmy was asking everyone actually came from his brother. all this time what happened to chuck has been eating away at him, its a shame you guys miss these things.

This series really was peak fiction on every level. Writing, acting, camera work, were all incredible week after week.
True that. Gonna miss watching this masterpiece every Monday
For real. It was genuinely a pleasure to watch each episode, the performances, and the writing. I know it’s bad to say, but I don’t think I’ll ever enjoy any other tv show as much this one. It was truly on a level of its own.
What are your favorite shots? Mine is Mike after he shot Zeigler. The cinematography in these shows was truly next level.
@@hidoradaikaiju4205 The shot in episode 6x11 where Gene is lying in the grave. Also the shots of the exit sign from Chicanery and the finale.
But also the watch related to time travel
@@manaulhoque6507 it also imo related to a scene in BB where mike called walt a "ticking time bomb" (it showed this watch ticking very loudly at the episode end) and everything he built up basically prolapsed and affected everyone he loved.
@@bobob9969Nah.
Do you mean that he regrets ever teaming up with Jesse in the first place or everything Jesse went through because of him?

that scene was cringe
So cringy! My face burned!
Jimmy already knew what he was going to do in the courtroom. He made that decision on the plane.
Jimmy to Kim: “You are a smartest person I’ve ever met but you are too stupid to see, I made up my mind 10 hours ago.”
Exactly all the other stuff was just to prove he was the best.
18:45 I think the watch wasn't a reference to Gray Matter, it's the watch that Jesse gave Walt for his birthday, showing that he regrets the way he treated Jesse over the course of Breaking Bad
Spot on.
So incredible that Peter and the writers know they don't have to explain these things to their audience. That's part of the reason Vince and Peter have been so good. They've said numerous times they're allergic to exposition.
Yup, Jesse is one of the few People Walt gave a shit about, but he was too proud to admit it even in the scene with Saul
@@CatCubed Well same for Jimmy with Chuck.
I knew about Walt
I should've guessed Chuck
Marie wouldn't have been in my first million guesses
Marie's appearance took me completely by surprise. I didn't even make the connection it was her initially as Marie was completely off my radar.
Betsy Brandt is really a wonderful actress. The way she described Hank I felt like he was actually in the room.
@@israymervalentin-arias6313 Had the scene been in color & we saw her decked out in her signature purple, I would've known instantly!
@@cluster_f1575 But it is more likely that she was dressed in black.
The cops pull him out of a dumpster. Foreshadowing: 6x01: The cardboard cutout of Saul is shoved into a dumpster.
I love this, I was the inmate who fist bump Saul “I got you, Saul” 🤜🤛
Damnn Thats awesome. Must be nice to be an extra on a series finale of such a good show.
@@MrCrackheadst thank you so much and it was actually a Co-Star role (speaking line(s). Extras were the guys way in the background.
How'd you get the part if you don't mind?
Peter Gould hasn't closed the door completely on future spinoffs. He has hinted at a possibility of a Kim Wexler spinoff as he believes there is more story to tell for her. But for the foreseeable future he said he and Vince need a break from the BB universe.
I heard it was actually done
@@The_WIll_OF_D99 They've basically said at this moment they're done. They recognize there are more stories they could tell, but right now they are not interested in doing so. But they also said that they wouldn't be surprised if one day they do get that itch to come back. Basically they're being very honest and realistic and saying "look we don't intend to do another, but we also know we could change our minds". I think they even joked that they'd probably want to come back to it if their next projects fail.
28:44 what? No. He changed his mind at the plane when he realized that Kim came clean with an actual risk of losing everything. (well, it really started when he was trying to get the ice cream with Howard Hamlin's story and realized Kim already did)
The whole point of going to that court was coming clean. He maybe changed his mind again about confessing about Chuck but not about confessing everything about his involvement with Walter White. If he wasn't going to do that, then what was he gonna do then? He didn't have anything more to say really to reduce his sentence or hurt Kim.
they are so dumb
👏🏼👏🏼DAMN these callbacks. His fate was etched in stone from the very beginning. If anyone remembers Sauls introduction BB S2/EP8. When he, Walt & Jeese are in the desert. Only 3 people in that scene, each having a different fate. Saul says "the way I see it somebody's going to prison the only question is who"
No he didnt change his mind after coming to court?! He had nothing about Kim to give to the Govt that she didn't already tell them. He literally said "I fed them BS, because i wanter her to come and hear this" He decided early on what he was about to do.
Agreed! Surij seemed to be overthinking that part, I never for once thought that Jimmy even had a thought that he would throw Kim under the bus
They're dumb
Yeah, and if Kim would have hide something about Howard murder then her confession wouldn't make sense.
That's it, I'm Slipping into an existential crisis. There will never be a show as good as this.
Vince and Peter could always Jimmy in another masterpiece
Would you say you’re
Slippin jimmy
The flashback with Chuck was the day before the first episode. In the first episode Chuck points out that Saul brought the Financial Times. This flashback was Saul’s time machine moment. His last opportunity to heal things with Chuck and before the scam with skateboarders that kicked over the first domino in the BB/BCS universe.
Fran told Gene in the phone call that Bill is a public defender now
Edit: Chuck had the "Time Machine" by HG Wells book. He regrets walking out of that conversation and not forming a bond with his brother other than familial obligations. Also Kim is still open to a civil suit
He chose 86 years of Jimmy Mcgill than 7 years of Saul Goodman.
One of my favourite parts of this episode was Walt looking at the watch Jesse gave him when thinking about his regrets
He made up the stuff on the plane to get Kim to the court. The courtroom was his time machine. He confessed his regrets, and it was all for Kim. She was the only one who could reveal Jimmy McGill. Beautiful ending…it was perfection.
Exactly
Not only for that but to give her a chance to escape prosecution. It was a final grift.
These guys are the definition of taking everything at face value
sorry Socrates
No, he didn’t change his mind in the courtroom. He was wearing the suit to make him look as unlikable to the judge as possible. That way when he speaks about his past crimes Saul goodman, the judge believes he hasn’t changed as he’s still dressed for the job. Also he changed his mind on the plane when he found out kim was being sued, and he lied to the government about her so that Kim would be in the same room when he confessed.
- he also is regarded as a king in the prison, everyone in there admires him
- Kim was also doing the finger guns when her hands were by her side as she’s leaving the prison
- plus this show is really better than breaking bad in every single way, let’s just be honest here.
Thank you!!
Jimmy had definitely planned out the courtroom confession way before actually going to court. It was one final big con.
Suraj idk who you heard but that's not what either Gilligan or Gould said. They said they want to move on for now but both basically said they wouldn't rule out returning at some point. I personally hope they don't though, leave it at two pretty much perfect shows
Yesss man been waiting for this all day, a reaction to probaly the best finale ever made, what a way to wrap up the show, the actual ‘perfect’ ending
I love that Rana is talking about hating Saul so much and not falling for his tricks again... WHILE she's falling for one of his tricks again. Classic.
The glance at the watch showed Walt also regretted what he did to Jesse in Ozymandias
i don't think it was when mike got "addicted," I think that day was just his personal bad choice road moment
Hearing what Kim did is what made him change his mind, he started putting the plan in motion on the plane to make sure she was there to witness it
Honestly this is my favorite show of all time
We met him as Saul, but loved him as Jimmy. The only way we could still love him and 6+ years of him is if he took it as Jimmy standing up and paid the price. Any other outcome we would not still love Jimmy. It's kind of 'obvious' but it was the only way because we believed in him, and still believe that Jimmy is a good person.
And that’s a classic redemption arc for you.
I think Jimmy genuinely cared for the elderly I don’t think he was scamming them I thought him helping the elderly was him at his most pure.
Bruh did you forget what ge did to Irene. That was an entirely selfish move, he just wanted that money faster
@@Billyregin and then he instantly regretted it and completely destroyed his elder law career in order to fix it
Well he didn't want to right that wrong by himself. Kim & Chuck kinda guilts him into doing the right thing.
@@Billyregin Yes. But before Irene he was genuinely helping them
I just realized what he regretted while I was watching again now with you guys: Chuck.
"Yes it was"
perfect finale for a perfect show
I think what made Saul(Jimmy) decide to come clean is when he found out about Kim's confessional while negotiating with the DA. He then talked to his Attorney, Bill Oakley, on the plane about it and said what he did to make sure Kim was present at the hearing when he confessed.
This show was so good in making complex characters with complex relationships, and going through complex developments. To the point that everyone is genuinely happy to see Chuck, a character we all used to hate, come back for the finale.
it was so surprising because I always hated him but I literally cried seeing him again
Thanks guys for your reactions work, it was a blessing watching you react to this awesome show
"Hi Jimmy" the viewer is Kim. She loved Jimmy liked we did, we believed in him, she knew the best in him and him being that person that we all loved again was the best but bitter sweet ending we needed. We ALL know he deserves it, but we still love him and he took the high road eventually.
Love how you said it. Yeah, Kim represents us. Even in the final shot of the show was from Kim’s perspective looking Jimmy fading away.
The judge I believe was Rosa from Orange Is The New Black.
im glad jesse was the only one to get away…he is the only one who wanted to actually get out and regretted everything he did and hated all the stuff he was forced to do…Walt was a terrible person from start to finish. Saul never changed. he is proud of what he did and the money he made.
Nacho?
He changed his mind when he learned that Kim confessed
Many of my friends who watched the season were deeply moved like me. This season didn't have the same ups and downs or gun blazing as previous seasons and breaking bad, but it ended with the heaviest emotions and the most accurate views on the world, life, and values. That's what the cast wanted to show the world.
I think in the scene with Walt, Jimmy really was going to open up about his regrets, but Walt kept talking down to him and Jimmy decided against sharing anything really personal, so he pulled the slip and fall story instead.
I hate this feeling of emptiness after a series we like so much!! Gonna miss u guys!
one thing - he didnt save kim. his crimes had nothing to do with her case...
The chuck moment was the one where he would time travel back to!
Kim can still be sued, Jimmy can’t affect that possibility.
He regretted not having the talk with Chuck which we saw in the flashback. You'd have known that if you didn't talk over the scene where he picks up the HG Wells The Time Machine book.
I dont think he got kim off. He was just showing her he's changed. Nothing he confessed to could get her out of that civil suit.
He did an extra 79 years to gain Kim's respect back
It's subtle, but the episode heavily implies that Jimmy's greatesty regret is Chuck.
What made this show such a hit, was this love affair between kim & Jimmy. the show departed with their love intact.
Oh I didn’t realize that
love you guys! very entertaining group...nice insights too. Im a fan.
Oh my God you guys gave me goosebumps when you said even though this is the final episode of the Breaking bad Universe let it live in cinematic history with a beautiful kiss at the end 😥 💘
After watching this episode I realised how fucking good Bryan Cranston was as Walt
Jimmy came up with the plan on the flight, he didn't change his mind 3 minutes before showtime lmao

That dude literally has eyes on the back of his head.

I'm truly going to miss this show...
When Marie turned around to look,
I had the same reaction. 🤣
32:44 I was not expecting that statement I'm dying 😂😂
What a journey! Loved your reactions!
One quick point: the statute of limitations for wrongful death lawsuit in NM is 3 years. Cheryl Hamlin can’t sue Kim for Howard’s death since 6 years have passed. Probably why she can’t find a lawyer.
I watched the finale 8 days late and loved it. Love your review. Re: Saul doing anything for $$ "Let that be a lesson to all of us" - NO LIE!
Jimmy was already in prison of his own mind as gene. He was trapped wanting to go back to the sual days when his life was colourful. But now in prison, he's more free, he's respected and seem to have friends, he has a simple life and can now be set free from his guilt.
Everyone praised Mr Vince but they forgot my man Paul, he was one of the masterminds behind the show as well
He decided for sure on the plane to protect Kim. Kim was the one thing he cared about more than money and he was able to use his words as a time machine to protect her. It's so funny how reactors say the exact opposite of what happens next with this show.
On the bright side, Jesse is the one who truly got away.
One of my favorite spin off series of all time! Sad to see it go but really enjoyed it.
The fact that D.E.A is both the main villain of the franchise but also the only ways out of a life of crime Death,Escape,Arrested
you guys completely missed that Chuck was reading HG wells' the time machine. Meaning that the time machine thing jimmy was asking everyone actually came from his brother. all this time what happened to chuck has been eating away at him, its a shame you guys miss these things.
