The magic of Rhea Seehorn's performance isn't in the big, showy, "actor" moments so much as the understated, natural, silently powerful approach she takes to playing Kim. It doesn't feel like a performance, it feels like watching a real person. She's just masterful at the wordless acting and subtle micro-expressions that elevate the character and material beyond what's in the script. It's time the Emmys recognize that sort of performance rather than just reduce an actor's work to the loudest, flashiest moments. It's one thing to deliver a big, emotional monologue, but it's something else entirely to disappear into a role as completely as she does.

Kim's cry, for me, was more than real. Flashed back to March 9, 1983, when I'd pulled my car to an intersection and put it in park, and broke down. Right there. Nearly collapsed, realizing that day would have been my younger brother's 21st birthday, had he not committed suicide three years earlier. Couldn't hear all the horns honking, was white-knuckling the steering wheel, don't remember what I saw, if anything -- just sat there, totally breaking down for the first time since his death.
When I watched her in that episode, my entire being was transformed. I had been there, done that -- EXACTLY THAT. Well done, Rhea.

Rhea hits the nail on the head. The show is a revenger’s tragedy. Saul/Jimmy/Gene , Kim, even Gus, Lalo, Nacho, Hector… they are driven by revenge. As Nacho’s father says, “that’s not justice, that’s revenge.” All of these characters seek revenge for perceived wrongs, however vague, and destroy themselves pursuing it.

@@eileenumana Yes. And we had some foreshadowing when this one pure character pleaded with his son, Nacho, to turn himself in to the police. But Nacho never did. It turns out Jimmy was the one in the end... the only one of all the MANY players in this whole tragedy of the BB/BCS saga... to actually speak the truth and "purify" himself in an actual court of law. It's the exact opposite of what he had been doing for so many years of his life. It is poetic. If not for Kim, he never would have done it. He fell on the sword for her. But he discovered that it brought him a great deal of peace that he never would have had otherwise.

The finale was actually amazing - the best writing of any finale I know. It literally turned the series into a love story. As it begins to appear that Jimmy doesn’t even care about Kim and it looks like he is cold bloodedly going to betray her, you start forming the opinion that he is a true sociopath and you actually, as the audience, feel betrayed and start to hate Jimmy. I lost all my warm feelings about the character and then when it turns out that he sacrifices himself for her, the emotions you feel are sadness and joy and relief. Truly amazing writing and acting. That scene is brilliant! That scene must be in the first page of a book called Introduction to acting. What an actress she is!!!!!

Hah .. I also wept .. and I'm a man born in 1962 who does not cry.
Honestly if I had read even a correct guess at the ending I would have already processed it .. to come up with an unexpected ending that does not seem contrived is such a testament to the quality of writing. The tears weirdly came as Saul handed over the cigarette.

Her scene on the tram is one of the best I have seen on TV all year. That alone is Emmy worthy. Seeing her do that in a long, uncut scene was amazing.
