I've made June Tailor QAYG placemats and they turn out so cute. This is a great project.

Another idea to finish off the binding would be to use a decorative stitch😊

Using a walking foot sometimes help with these bulky items.
For sure! I thought maybe I'd need to switch to a walking foot... but it worked out fine without one! ❤️
However, depending on your machine, a walking foot may be the best choice.

You could! But lining up that top edge would be tricky...
