The idea of this spec was to be able to tank heal and pvp in one spec and it works perfectly for that. The armor talent doesn't scale with dire bear form so it only ends up being an extra 250ish armor since you wear leather.
MrJamedawg if your main focus is to tank you'd want to go deep feral, that swipe talent is better at that point. I tanked 5 man's with this spec and raid healed Mc and bwl without needing to respec.
ok answer me this. I'm trying to spec right now. I am going NS feral... k. but I cannot decide to go heart of the wild or natural shifter... with natural shifter I can shift hop sooooo many more times than if I don't spec that. I know hotw gives the plus intellect... but doesn't give you like 10 more shifts before your mana bar is empty. with nat shifter I can legit shift from bear or cat like 15-20times before I'm oom.. with out only like 9-10 and with it I can travel form when I have absolutely no mana. I dunno just the conundrum I'm in. would like advice
Hotw is so too good to pass up man, you can try both though, I love hotw, the main thing you want to do is not try to spec hotw/ns spec unless you have decent int/stam gear. Without it you will be oom a lot.
Thanks! . I would love a more "in depth guide" . Or Just to throw ideas back and forth. Attempting to tank sunken Temple now 🤙. Made my way up to lvl 52 tanking all instances I have been to. So much fun 😁 Keep It grizzly
I don't think there is more to know. Vanilla was simpler but harder. Dps will learn real fast that you can't open with Pyroblast! Main thing was that it was much slower and relied on careful peeling of mobs; this is Heart of the Wild spec and it was proven as a utility raid spec. The other spec that is worth looking at is a 31+ point Feral with 5 points Restoration in Improved Mark of the Wild. This gives a raid 2 buffs so you can just dance during a fight and still be a benefit to the team.
With Blizzard doing fresh new classic servers I was thinking I would play druid as It's the one class I really haven't played. The more I think about my wow experience I usually didn't care if we had the BEST tank or the BEST healer, we were usually just waiting to get ANY tank or healer. This makes the "heart of the wild" spec very appealing to me.
I gotta question my man, would you say that tanking as a druid is easier on alliance because devotion and kings? I feel like that would make a huge difference.
If you want to try out druid tanking I would go a pure tank spec, something like db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#0x0V0oZxxgscMdtV But as stated before me, warr tank is the way to go, druids are not best at anything but good at everything. If u are pulling los(line of sight, I would start of with a wrath into a moonfire on some of the range mobs or at 2 different once, then instantly move around the corner and renew and swap to bear, regrowth if u got time, remember as tauren u can stomp. Remember to maul on omen proc, gl hf
Hi there, I‘m looking for a WoW Vanilla feral druid DPS/Tank hybrid build for leveling on a PvP server. Back in the old days of WoW I often found myself struggling with how to skill while leveling. On the one hand, obviously, the cat form helps a lot, but it was always kinda hard for me to find a group for five man dungeons as a wannabe rogue/DD. On the other hand, usually bears don't have that much trouble finding a group, because tanks are always in high demand. But the flip side of such builds are the solo leveling part which gets more time consuming by means of the missing DPS. Do you have any advice for this dilemma? Thanks!
Cat and bear builds are honestly pretty much the same. Last time i was on a pserver this is what i ran classicdb.ch/?talent#0zLVhoZxTMsf0dtV0o Just grap a bunch of str/stam gear and you should be cool.
You said that warriors are better tanks in most scenarios. Why is that and in what way? Survivability or threat? And by how much? If like to roll druid tank and would like to know by how much I'm disadvantaged and in what way?
Mostly because warriors have more damage mitigation, shields, cooldowns. Also the tanking gear available for druids just isn't as nice. I had no problem keeping threat as a druid when i was playing on nost. Even what he said here about not being able to tank large groups i personally had no problem with just taking a moment to establish threat before the dps starts then spamming maul and swipe while smacking tab. If that's not enough then mark targets. I can't quantify how much more damage druids take in raids but in dungeons it basically boils down to the fact that you often can't get away with an underleveled or severely undergeared healer on some packs/bosses, unless they're good at their role of course.
Hey man! Awesome vids, now I am 100% sure, that I will start leveling druid. I have a question, how did you get cool skins on your bear / cat form? Is it some addon or what?
Thick hide doesn't double dip with the bearform armor increase. It's a flat increase on just your armor alone, not increased by the bear form %, so it comes out to around 1.8% damage reduction, definitely not worth 5 talent points for me.
If you're undergeared I definitely suggest taking thick hide, I'm sitting on 11k armor in bear form with my gear so I opted out of it for more pvp focus talents since I hate respeccing for pvp. Farming gold on nostalrius has always been a challenge with the population like it is and poor pvp noob professions like eng/mining.
good try on the talents but they are way off. you had some good tips though. you rarely want to come out of bear form. if you do, you get wrekt and hope is lost. just keep in bear form..
The talents are perfect hotw talents actually. Its the spec every single druid played in vanilla that raided due to the massive mana pool. This is the spec every resto druid uses to raid. I know it seems pretty weird but its thw truth. Ive used this spec to tank every dungeon and off tank in MC and bwl. Dont knock the spec til youve tried it chief.
@@powerfulnoun2608 Ya, I have and the main problem is your points into resto instead of balance. Personally I wouldn't put any into Blood Frenzy since you tank in bear form not cat form. Improved Stun is a waste of points as well. The biggest problem is all those points into resto, especially "reflection" and "improved rejuvenation". If you're just doing dungeons I can see why it could be nice to have an oh shit button with "Natures Swiftness" in combination with a "Healing Touch". The minute you come out of bear form you take massive damage, if you do hit an oh shit button to save your healer or yourself, you're going to want to go right back into bear, not cast anything else or a rejuv. There is no scenario in a raid to ever be healing yourself. Improved MOTW is imperative unless you have another druid that can buff you with the improved version (probably not). After Improved MOTW, Furor is ok, but if I chose, I would skip that and put one point into enrage since all you need is 5 rage to charge. That way, you can spend the rest of your points into balance to get, "Natural Weapons", "Improved Thorns", and possibly even "Omen of Clarity". Or instead go into Feral Aggression if you want to reduce the damage to yourself.
@@terraint3697 You've never played vanilla at all and you didn't even watch the video. In the video I talk about the spec used is a one size fits all spec. Useful for pvp, farming healing OR tanking. You can do all these things at once without spending 50g on a respec. This was THE healing spec for raiding druids aside from all things due to the massive mana pool which was all that mattered. You can keep arrogantly thinking you're correct with your knowledge of the 6 point talent trees from live and play whatever spec you want when classic comes out but you'll be out performed at every turn by smarter players who don't have an over sized ego.
Totally viable, I just prefer warstomp. Shadowmeld has it's advantages but you have to be out of combat to use it making it nearly useless for pvp for druids in my opinion. Not to mention the health passive for tauren is extra good if you decide to tank.
Nelfs have more dodge while taurens have more health. For raiding I don't think there's a huge difference, but for pvp the warstomp and extra health is pretty good.
Naw in reality NE's are the only viable option if you want to go feral dps, they get pally blessings and scale incredible with kings. Where as Tauren's get screwed as they get no benefit from shaman's Windfury, thus they will get left behind in dps vs other melle.
Hey man, great video. I did intentionally everything correct while tanking. If you got some mages and you mass pull around corner it is great to step back when frosted and then war stomp. To your Talents: I would rather go for this de.classic.wowhead.com/talent-calc/druid/-505030130302215-15502310031
I dont think that guide was very useful. You did not have thorns active, you included a clip where you wipe your grp and you dont even max the only talent point which gives you extra threat.
Thorns doesn't cause threat on nosatlrius, I included the wipe clip because that's how vanilla is, you wipe a lot if you don't understand that you probably started in cata and you don't need max points in the threat talent at all to tank 5 mans with my gear, thanks for checking out my video.
I didn't mark anything because I filmed this right when the server came back up and no ones macros were working, so we were just going with it, it's impossible to hold agro on all the mobs when you pull more than 4-5, that's just how it is in vanilla.
Nah man, I always appreciate other peoples opinions and all forms of criticism. Don't ever be afraid to talk about things you see in my videos that you think are strange or I should be doing differently.
actually you can tank every boss in vanilla as a bear if you get the proper gear. Nef is the only real issue, but if you are alliance then you are fine.
I wanted to get into bear end game content so I started leveling one and like it more and more, great video man thanks.

people in classic always use totally different specc (balance as 2nd tree) also leader of the pack
Isn't demo roar the same as demo shout with regards to aoe threat generation? As long as the party is focusing your skull'd target, it should be fine.
sup man , hit lvl 60 on elysium and am going tank ( remember me ? :) is thick hide important ?
