2:00 The exact rule, if anyone is curious, is this: starting at 6 levels below you, quests give 10% less XP per level they are below you, down to a minimum of 10%. So if you are lvl 40, you get 100% of the quest's XP from quests that are 35+, 90% from 34, 80% from 33, and so forth until you reach the minimum 10% from lvl 26 quests and below. This means that a quest isn't necessarily "safe" just because it's still green/not gray yet.
Awww, I was hoping you had made the run to Darnassus. One of the most nostalgic things from vanilla for me is running from Stormwind to Ironforge to Darnassus. I had no idea the deeprun tram existed so I just started running. I have no idea how many times I died, but I remember there was a bit of I think it was Burning Steppes where the only progress I made was the distance ahead I could revive from my corpse. And the damn orcs in the mountains when running from Dun Morogh to Wetlands. Getting on that ship was such a good feeling after having spent hours just trying to get there. I really miss those times with a huge world to explore together with everyone and people didn't google the easiest way to do something before even trying.
Same here! This time around in Classic though - I discovered you can skip the Westfall run in a few different, interesting ways; Starting at Menethil - you can swim south to the steppes of Dun Morogh, until you're technically in the zone in a little lagoon, where you drown yourself and revive at Kharanos. Starting in Dun Morogh - There's a spot between Gnomeregan and Ironforge where you can climb up the mountains, and eventually throw yourself off of said mountains into Wetlands. You -can- land in the water, but it's difficult, either way; you'll die to Murlocs and revive just outside Menethil.

Always thought about doing this, but seeing the sheer amount of work you had to put in... A strategy I considered was doing kill quests where the mobs are grey, so you get no actual XP from the mob but get at least a bit of XP from the quest turn-in. Not sure how much farther you could get with this method and I guess you would have to adjust Rule 1. Another consideration is the fact that you do not gain mob XP while dead, but you do get quest credits if an alt kills them. Again this would be another violation of Rule 1 and 2, but a possible amendment in order to get further.
its actually pretty simple to go to Darnassus from the human starting zone. The good thing is you get the most important flight paths on the way. Here is how: Go to SW take subway to IF and get FP. Then heart back and run to Westfall FP. Then run southwest to the lighthouse. As level 1 you might die 1 or 2 times on the way there. Then swim to Booty Bay and get FP ( you can die at the raptors south of the horde base and resurrect at the ghost outside Booty Bay. Take ship to Ratchet and get FP. Run south to Dustwallow Marshes. You might die 1 or 2 times on the way there. As soon as you enter the zone die and respawn at the ghost in Theramore. Get FP. Take ship to Menethil and get FP. Then take other Ship to Auberdine and get FP. Take the last ship to Darnassus and get FP. Now you have all Ports and all Major cities Flightpoints and you are in the Nightelf zone. Believe me this is way more effective than the Wetlands run.
Can go through westfall and swim north straight to menethil harbour. Doesnt get you all the flight paths but it does get you to your destination a bit quicker
@@mucxlx of course, depends if you want or need them right away. I know when i played back then, i would grab IF and SW with the tram then swim up to MH and the flight path connected to IF so i could easily travel between those. The rest id pick up when i needed or was higher level

It's a great idea from a druid perspective. It is much easier to destroy than it is to create. So many quests in this game involve mindless killing of creatures, and they replenish automatically. It has no basis in reality and is only reinforcing the lack of thought for one's future. There are so many real life parallels of humans decimating natural resources like the buffalo in the pursuit of quick profit. Shame on Blizzard for not adding more quests that involve simple tasks like planting trees. Instead you are expected to kill dozens of centaurs for their ears (the drop rate is crazy).
Do the lunar festival quests to talk to the elders not give xp, or were they added after 1.12? I thought maybe you didn't do them because they were repeatable next year, but you did the fire festival ones...
this is awesome! i wonder what it would be like to do this in modern WoW? i imagine you'd probably run into a similar problem, but i wonder how much further you'd be able to get given how quest design has evolved a bit more over the years. it's really too bad there's not more profession quests; i always leveled my professions while leveling when i played. even if it wasn't the most efficient use of my time, i liked the feeling of hand-crafting my own armor to supplement what was given via quests.
This feat was accomplished over a decade ago. The very first person to do it was recognized by blizzard and they created Pacifist title for him. He leveled 1-60 without killing a single mob. Just crafting and gathering.
Good video. The only thing that troubles is that killing with a borrowed knife defeats the pacefist aspect. But guess it would be impossible without it. Big thumps up for the dedication 🫡
This is such a cool idea. I've thought it'd be fun to do stuff like roll a character who's a vegetarian/animal rights advocate (no fishing/meat/hunting/animal kill quests etc.), which I guess might be a druid wearing cloth refusing to kill a rabid murderous bear but having no problem laying waste to a human encampment.😂Or have a toon that has some type of phobia like heights and can't go up any more than 2 flights of stairs, or a fear of water and won't go near the lakes/rivers/ocean. Just random rp things to switch things up and have more unique gameplay.
A very interesting challenge... Though I wonder, why I dont see you doing any mining or flower-picking. There is that Pandaren player, who did a similar challenge: reaching max lvl by never picking a faction and never leaving his starting zone. So yeah, doing these quests certainly gives you a certain amount of XP but I still wonder, why no gathering? 12:50 --- Okay, nvm :D
Rather than mention the gathering thing like others do, seeing as how that is a catacylsm feature, I wonder how high you can get with WotLK. As surely there must be more quests to do and they also somewhat smoothed out the leveling the leveling curve toward the end of TBC.
I blurted out the moment I saw this "he's only going to make it to like 27" Not a bad prediction. Furthermore, I do think you get experience from gathering. Why not mine / herb ?
Me, after reading the title: 'Oh, so he's just going to mine and herb his way there and the video will be about explaining which areas are safest to farm and have lowest mob density and stuff like that.' Me, three seconds later after remembering that gathering didn't provide exp in Vanilla: '....wait a minute...'
I thought you could turn in Rogues, Mages and other low lvl decks for DMF endlessly. Not much xp, but a sure gain. Also, no chance you get the first aid quest? What about other yearly events? Orphan's Week has a lot of exploring and buying that doesn't require killing.
Cool concept and video, but might need clearer guidelines. One of your quests involved poisoning a dude which doesn't feel very pacifist to me :D

Rather than mention the gathering thing like others do, seeing as how that is a catacylsm feature, I wonder how high you can get with WotLK. As surely there must be more quests to do and they also somewhat smoothed out the leveling the leveling curve toward the end of TBC.
Every single quest is murder for hire.
dont you have to be in a grp to take a mage portal? did the mage lvl to 60 following rule 1? if not you break rule 2 pretty early on
I love this! And the sheer dedication is very impressive.
Incredible! That must`ve taken ages. Respect!!
3:06 you just won my like for this vide😂😂😂
How did you get a map that drops from murlocs if you can’t kill murlocs?
I blurted out the moment I saw this "he's only going to make it to like 27" Not a bad prediction.
Furthermore, I do think you get experience from gathering. Why not mine / herb ?
You dont get exp from gathering ressouces 😅 that would have been an easy run around tho hehe
You get xp in retail, not in classic.
Me, after reading the title: 'Oh, so he's just going to mine and herb his way there and the video will be about explaining which areas are safest to farm and have lowest mob density and stuff like that.'
Me, three seconds later after remembering that gathering didn't provide exp in Vanilla: '....wait a minute...'
I thought you could turn in Rogues, Mages and other low lvl decks for DMF endlessly. Not much xp, but a sure gain. Also, no chance you get the first aid quest? What about other yearly events? Orphan's Week has a lot of exploring and buying that doesn't require killing.
