@@simionmatei9715 Vol'jin would have been someone closer to "ready" than Garrosh. But it's not entirely the fault of Thrall, either. Vol'jin and Cairne didn't do their Go'el-given job of helping Garrosh be a good warchief, and instead, jump to nearly leaving the faction and actually getting killed respectively.

It was Thrall who helped him build up his confidence. So yeah, Garrosh would never have become the threat he ended up being, if it hadn't been for Thrall.
@@Nyrufa the problem is not in Thrall helping Garrosh. the problem is in Thrall making Garrosh into the leader of Horde, a position that needs diplomacy and decision-making about a lot of stuff, while Garrosh is just a warrior. he's a fantastic leader for an army, but not for a country

I feel like so much of Warcraft can just be described as basically warhammer lore, but not as interesting.

Well Blizzard _was_ going to make a Warhammer RTS, but Gee Dubz decided to be _rude_ and pull out of the deal at the last moment, so they had to choose between scrapping a mostly finished game or slapping together their own art assets at the last minute and ship.
So if Warcraft lore feels meandering, slapdash, and uncomfortably like a a shoddy knockoff of Warhammer that nobody really knows what to do with, well… that’s because it is.
Goblins are not quite my favorite race, but I simply love how they "solve" every problem with, well, explosions

14:55 actually they terraformed Aszhara into the horde logo because Garrosh asked them to show the Alliance somehow that Kalimdor belongs to the Horde.
Considering that this was during MOP, I wouldn't be surprised if this was actually true.

He's the most Goblin's Gob that ever existed. That's why I want him leading the Horde goblins. Why would we want an ethical kind leader? Goblins are capitalistic sociopaths. It's not the goblin way!
Gotta say, the Worgen and Gobiln starting zones are some of the best of the game. Wonderful story telling, great quests, amazing atmosphere, beautiful zones and you just all around make a perfect connection to the race you've chosen.
That being said, as an alliance main and even my horde spark deep down, both really want to bonk Gallywix on the head. Little shit.

When I first played the worgen area, there was a severe graphical bug that made everything hurt my eyes with contrast and sound like it all happened under pouring rain with thick fog. I didn't realize it was a bug and loved how much more depressing/atmospheric it made the entire thing
I couldn't look at it with as much favor any later playthrough. I wish I could reproduce the bug

Okay you cannot just ignore the the fact that Gallywix has a whole SCP style vault for any artifact he deems too dangerous for anyone to have and there is a canonical alternate timeline where Gallywix 1v1s Garrosh to stop him from getting in there.

You remember Gremlins 2 when a Gremlin got injected with a smart serum? That is basically where the Warcraft writers took the idea for Goblins in WoW. They are smart serum gremlin dudes

Despite what Platinum said, the reason was to show their loyalty since Gallywix wasn't exactly trustworthy.
Love the video Plat, but you left out my favorite part of the Nessa/Gallywix plotline. It's true that every year Gallywix sends her a lovely present (a gorgeous, intricately painted portrait of himself basking in his riches) but you can't forget that Nessa reciprocates that love... by sending him back a bomb.
True she's never managed to kill him, but it's the thought that counts!

The easy answer is bad writing and the preceding terrible set up.
@@SurfingSwallow Since you mentioned Sassy, I would have dropped the whole "goblin player character is next in line to be trade prince" bit and made that whole story about Sassy vs Gallywix. Treat the player character more like a regular goblin that gets caught in the middle of a faction war (heh) and comes out a hero at the end of it.
Depending on how you characterize Sassy after that, you might get someone who seems easygoing but still gets results. Not to mention you can then write her to sort of connect with Sylvannas as they would be only two female leaders within the Horde at that point in time.
As a goblin PC I was so aggravated when Galliwyx ended up not only still breathing, but left in charge of the goblin faction. I'm still not clear how that changed at the end of BFA, but I really grew to like the new leader that (I guess?) took his place.
there is a mini dialogue in the horde embassy thrall talk to gazzlowe and tell him gallywix went rogue and asked if he could be the goblin leader
Gazlowe's been an important goblin since Warcraft III, similar to how everyone's wanted Vol'jin to be warchief since Cataclysm.

Ah yes, Gallywix, also known as Robert's Kotick self-insert.
I think the main thing with the second half of the goblin starting area is that "clearly more important things are going on, but the goblins don't give a damn." Pygmies gaining intelligence through kajamite, Thrall wanting to team up against the cataclysm, but trying to survive an alliance assault first, killing the living god on the islands, causing this lush tropical "paradise" to explode and burn (which is peak goblin). They don't care, and thus, your goblin character also doesn't care.

All I can say is that the goblins we know from Warcraft 3 are bold, brave and badass: the airship crew, that robotic machine that can cut 75 wood points in one turn, those crazy suicidal explosives specialists, the Hero guy that can construct a mini-factory of battle robots and perform a spaming missile attack... Pure awesomeness!
The most important and interesting goblin to me, is Marin Noggenfogger, Champion of the Uncrowned and Ruler of Gadgetzan nowadays.
He is one of the smartest goblins without shenanigans and managed to survive every expansion since vanilla, improving his backstory to the better. 💪🏻
The production quality to view count ratio is absolutely ab-fucking-surd. This stuff is awesome and I'm stunned it's not better seen. Incredible.
Fun fact: Many consider the goblins to be the ones that truly defeated Archemonde in Warcraft3

A while ago I went over wow races and realized they fit into 4 categories very nicely. Former Robots, Trolls+, made by the wild gods, and aliens.
Then I remembered goblins.
if I remember correctly, the goblins were created by Deathwing before the war of the ancients (in the book they were an "unknown" race serving him in his lair)
The most astounding thing still is that Darin DePaul voices Gallywix. The same guy who voices Reinhardt and Blackhand... Emperor Valkorion in SWTOR... and so many more.. that guy is just amazing.
The story to start playing as a goblin was one of the funniest things I did in wow, and even though I read every quest I still can't recall how the explosives turned into a town or why there were laser sharks at all.
I remember that the laser sharks were used to murder the big shark because they wanted to eat it. But I do not understand how the explosives turning into a town was supposed to work. I THINK it was in a compressed box of some sorts, and the explosives... idk opened it? lol
Gobbos are the best. They boom, they zoom, they live near Sargeras's Tomb.

I still wanna know why Thrall was on a random alliance ship in the middle of the ocean.
Because he was travelling somewhere (probably Maelstrom) when the Alliance commited a straight was crime, attacked him, and captured him, then tried to kill the goblins to hide it.

I love playing as a Goblin! They are such a fun race and their racials to me are interesting. I especially love their heritage armor set and the questline to get it. Another fun race I love playing as is the Pandaren and I cannot wait until they get their heritage armor
The story of the goblins kind of remind of the Italian mafia. They have huge businesses and are always strategizing for new business ideas but they also love and crave power.
The part where the goblin said: Say hello to my little friend.
And the tiny one replied: I'm the little friend, say hello.
That's hilarious.
All in all, goblins are quite entertaining. But I got to know Gallywix when he offered his staff to Sylvanas.

Goblins are my favorite race too. I just love their insanity, the artstyle of their assets and the story’s they provide. The starting zone experience is incredibly fun and good storytelling (except the end when you defeat Gallywix). Also, the music fits so perfect…

you should do Starcraft lore, especially with how much effort & detail you put into your videos. It would be insane to see what that would look like with how much lore Starcraft has to offer.
8:00 Now that I think about it this actually makes perfect sense. Contact with azerite as we see in BFA fills the holder with delusions of grandeur and the belief that they can do anything they want. *Gallywix couldn't feel any difference.*
Fact: most goblins have cool hairline just like one other person has.
You can really see how much you enjoy making these videos, and they're brilliant - all of the machinima parts are so well done, the use of WoW sounds and audio, the writing and narration is hilarious. I wish I could watch one of these every week. But taking your time to make them is preferable!
For real, the thing that I was the most hyped about Cataclysm was that we would get to play the gobelins. I rolled a rogue (naturally) and it has been my main since 2014.

Which begs the question of why all that investment and time in building clunky, extremely complex, (likely) expensive mech suits with likely thousands of sensitive, moving parts when some random dudes with massive, muscular arms can slice through them like paper with oversized, enchanted butter knifes!

They're so incredibly avaricious that they are constantly innovating in an attempt to make bank and sate their lust for gold with invention and entrepreneurialism.
