it just to show. even if you cant save everyone, you should not just stop trying. there is a story about a marine who trying to save his wife who been kidnapped and a lot of innocent people die in cross fire. you like that a lot do you?? as long as mc is some kind of movie hero, play by famous actor you just swallow everything up.
No one is ever gonna read this comment 4 years later, but dangit, I wanna say it. The reason Sazh recgnizes lightning as a Soldier is because of her Pauldron. Even if the military doesn't seem to 'do' uniforms aside from standard enemies, there are multiple military characters who wear that pauldron in the game.
Which is a stupid way to identify a soldier. It's easy to miss. There's a reason why soldiers wear full, easily identifiable uniforms. Imagine if the US Army required their soldiers to wear nothing but a belt buckle that had the American flag on it while at liberty. That's the same level of identification on display here.
Yup, make it even harder when you don’t understand English like me back then, I mean Jesus Christ even now that I understand English I still don’t know wtf is going on in this game story
"If I were a betting man, ..." Sazh, we literally find you on Serendipity, a Neverland casino of sorts, in the next game. I'm actually impressed if this was intended foreshadowing.
this is why I like you, Dartigan. You actually played through this insane game and made this video for us. AND its in several parts. This subscribe was SO worth.
Dartigan Speaking from the other camp, as a big fan of FF13 (who is TOTALLY aware of it's many flaws), I really appreciate you doing this video too! Sometimes the people who laugh the hardest at parodies are fans :)
Dartigan Yeah, I love this game, but holy plot hole batman. Don't even attempt XIII-2. That game is so plot holey it left about the time Noel shows up.
Matthias Farron Final Fantasy XIII-2 should have that meme of the guy saying "Aliens," and it should just say "Paradox." It's their explanation for EVERYTHING.
The Mighty Chespin Ive beaten the game but not completely mastered it 100% yet. I go back about once every 6 months to play half a day then get bored and drop it again ill prolly have it finished by year 2030 or so!
"No one will die" -shows everyone dying- "I hope everyone made it out okay" -shows everyone not making it out okay- xD I can't this is one of my favorite videos of yours tbh
+Mani Davis true, this game is mostly linear...the map is not really important however...it is true there is some hidden content that can be discovered by looking properly the map
Zero The Bloodedge It`s a guilty pleasure of mine admittedly. Does it have issues? Plenty. Would I consider it as a FF game? Hell no! but for some odd reason, I liked it.
ru55ianR3AP3R For all the things it did wrong, at least it let me choose the battles intead of a overly high encounter rate that don't let you make 2 steps without entering battle. But XIII-2 at least fixed the issues with the Team Leader BS of the first.
I don't understand why people bitchs about the combat system of XIII. I mean, since it is not a turn-based RPG anymore, you must have certain commands already set to repeat itself as quickly as possible.
+safnhuo He really IS insane and this was his work? I thought I was my fault for having trouble understanding the lore and the thought process of these characters. Guess it turns out I was right to question.
+jettythesunfish You're the enemy of cocoon... What a twist. Now you will need the power of love and the help of your childhood friend, who's also a bareknuckle boxer, to destroy it. Because this is a JRPG. You're the hero. This is your story...
Just one thing At 8:43 Snow was talking about what Hope’s mom said, being vague with her pronouns and all, and thinking “well, if I get ALL of them home, then one of them must be the ‘him’ she was talking about.”
Before the start of the game Lightning was in the Guardian Corps. Basically they handled out of control civilian threats and animal attacks which were fairly common. Sazh is the real head scratchers since Sazh was a train conductor before the game started.
There is something weird with this game, I know its shit, my friends know its shit, I've tried playing it multiple times. But there remains some inexplicable attraction and allure to it. Even now I'm staring at the steam page like...do I wanna do it? Do I wanna give it another whirl. I think I need to but WHYYYYY
+Fangs of Yima The game's story I think is beautiful and overall hooking because it's about the melodrama concerning the characters. That's why I loved it.
It's probably because the game looks really good. Without knowing anything about it the game looks really cool. It's inspiring to see all the cool character designs and the art direction of the world. The game is a chore and the story is stupid but it sure is pretty to look at.
luisdaNotSam I hated trying to replay this game! I hate Barthandelus form 2. You know what's really wrong with this game? That every enemy you face can kill you! I hate that!
***** Right! Despite they increased the damage cap, I felt like enemies had way too much health and your characters never had enough. But the biggest sin is that if the character that you are controlling dies, it's game over. WTF there's two more people, why can't I control them now, like every other FF?
Every time I hear Vanille's voice, my brain screams, "Shut up! Shut up! Oh my god, *SHUT UP!!*" Seriously, her Teletubby-like grunts are SUPER grating.
this was the only game i have ever stopped playing midtrough and did not finish the gameplay is really not my cup of tea and it really annoyed me that the female characters are either super mature, strong and kinda bitchy or super annoying, childlike and weak
hunter James Love the story, hate the game, if it would simply be one long movie i would like it way more. Having to actually play through it is torture for me.
8:40 Snow is talking about Hope here. Since she was playing the pronoun game he doesn’t know who “he” is, so he’s just saving everyone and that way hopefully one of them is the “him” she was talking about.
Snow's weapon is actually the armband woven into the coat on his left bicep. It's a piece of Guardian Corps equipment that he got from... somewhere? But it says in the in-game wikipedia that it amplifies the wearer's natural physical capabilities and defenses. Which is supposed to be the reason why Snow can charge in headfirst and just punch things all the time. Also why he can fall from the same height as Nora without dying, other than main character syndrome. Fun facts
Dartigan Ah you must be the idiot who thinks this is a bad game. Especially since you clearly do not undestand "show, don't tell". Seriously, 3/4ths of these so called "sins" aren't even such. Rather just overly nitpicking that is blatant ignoring further plot points or just ignoring the visuals in general.
EnvyMizuhashi Is the game really that bad, cuz I really want to get into Final Fantasy, and I don’t have retro consoles, plus I don’t want to wait for the VII remake since it still doesn’t have a release date: Actually could someone tell me a good current FF game to start with
I recommend FF6, 7 or 9, all 3 of those are available on steam and don't require the most intense PC to run, plus they are the best in main franchise imo. Otherwise, 15 is quite good as wwell after the recent changes while Zodiac Age is a decent one to get into as well.
I don't know either... I know l'Cie and fal'Cie and Cieth (which is "Shigai" or something in Japanese), but still can't understand the "Cie" part of either. Tried reading the in-game wikipedia just to see whether or not Dartigan is right... The 13 days were described there per day (somewhat short, though), but some things are just too boring to read through.
Beautiful job, mate. Fuck this game. Fuck this game in particular. This game finally pulled the wool from my eyes. Up until I got this game I was a Final Fantasy fanboy. No more. This game took all the shits I had left to give. I literally threw this game against the wall after I finished it.
Mike Wichmann I think Paine from FFX-2 could be a strong character too. I really like FFX, but in X-2, the only thing good is the battle system and Via Infinito.
I love this game, and I can defend at least a third of these sins, but since this is both a Sins video AND a sins video of Final Fantasy XIII, I'm pretty sure no one on this thread would care, so I won't list it. But, I will however debunk the "They survive this" sins by saying that, if they suddenly get a boost in magic AND and extra ATB slot, wouldn't stand to reason that l'Cie would also have a durability boost, otherwise what would be the point of the fal'Cie branding people (not to mention one of them is a Sentinel)? Also, Lightning's Grav-con unit probably wasn't broken, but had a charge time (and she uses again in Chapter 12).
Robert Jay defend it all u want, have to admit its flawed in so many ways, if u played previous games in series u would easily see the flaws, this first FF game if i rated it gave it 6/10 very disappointing, story made no sense, characters I liked some of them, Lightening and Hope were worse characters. Most linear game out all of them maps very short, all u doing going down corridors mostly. Paradigms system was good at first, got annoying longer u played especially when u start grinding later, when you head to grand pulse. Battles took WAY TO LONG, 20 minutes is way to long to beat up mob for exp, battles was never for front for FF game it was exploring, story and characters. Worse aspect of the game is u can't get everything in your first play through for me that's terrible flaw, i like it i know I "beat" the game getting all secrets, hunts, finish crystalis grid, put SE sad Fuck you tells u have beat game first then u can do extras, yah no, even Dragon Quest gave u extra dungeon as option beating the game, FF13 it forces not get everything.
what about before Snows a L'cie? Why the is Nora(i can't believe there was no sin for Hope's mom and the group having the same name) killed by the fall but not Snow?
Robert Jay Let's say you're right about the "They survive this" sins. 1) Explain how Hope survived a high speed crash into a room with no discernable exit point BEFORE he was made into l'Cie? 2) Explain how Snow survives a fall that kills a woman falling from the same height. Assuming you know how gravity works, that shouldn't happen not at least without some injury, with Snow and the other guy didn't have. 3) Explain why the Machine-Gods don't tell their l'Cie what their focus is, ESPECIALLY given the fact that at the end-game a Machine-God SPEAKS TO THEM IN THEIR LANGUAGE EASILY. You say you can defend a 3rd of those sins? Brother, you can't even defend 1 of them. You wanna like the game, hey, that's cool. It's a free world. But don't deny the shit flaws of this game, of which there are legion. These are just facts.
kyotheman69 It's flawed yes, but as an FNC fan, I find it annoying how many people hate XIII like it's a Bhunivelze-damn religion. Also, XII plays itself too, except XIII does it better, and X (though not as apparent) was linear as well until near the "fake final" area. ***** Snow and Gadeau are built sturdier than Nora (Also, he's didn't get to that point in the game to know that the group shares the same name as Hope's mom). Also, if Lightning's Grav-con unit (Sanctum tech) has the ability to prevent "Wall Rush" damage, then it stands to reason that Snow's coat (also Sanctum tech) would have some sort of anti-shock function built in. Gangerworld 1) This is really stretching it and I'm not going to deny it. But Vanille is noticeably protective of Hope AND she's already a l'Cie. It could stand to reason that Vanille survived as a l'Cie. Also, she's a base-role Medic. She probably used curative magic while Hope wasn't paying attention, which would explain why he survived as well. They never actively stated that someone would notice if they've been healed, and Hope was focused on not dying, so it's possible that he would not have noticed. 2) See my response to Helel 3) Anima is a Gran Pulse Fal'Cie and 500 years after the War of Transgression, I'd doubt that a Gran Pulse Fal'Cie would care whether or not Cocoon would fall out of the sky. You could argue that the Cocoon Fal'Cie Kujata did the same thing to Dajh, but considering that Dajh's focus was to locate the Pulse l'Cie, it's plausible that Kujata did this on purpose to stall the humans so that Barthandelus and the other Fal'Cie had time to put their plan into action. Also, as to the potential question as to why Kujata would bother branding somebody in the first place, it would appear strange to the humans that Kujata did nothing in response to being attacked by Pulse l'Cie. Also, I'm not denying the "shit flaws". If I was, I'd say I could defend all of them, but I can't, because (like you said) It's flawed.
Gangerworld Also, about Snow and Gadeau not having any visible damage, I attribute that to both laziness and typical of the FF series. The only Final Fantasy games I've played were physical damage is visible were Crisis Core and Type-0.
Nah I liked it ok... just that it was also my second least favorite FF game (my least fav being FF 12, blech). The gameplay wasn't too bad though, and it looked good. Just that the characters don't become even remotely likable until halfway through the game in my opinion.
Ok fun fact most of guardian core handle environmental threats like animal attacks. Which explains Lightning fighting skill. The pauldron she wears on her arm is actually a device used to identify someone as a soldier. What doesn’t make sense is Sazh being a capable fighter considering he was a train conductor before the game started.
Finally a gaming sin channel who dislikes FFXIII as much as me. It was the first FF game I played and so bad it almost turned me off from the entire franchise (until I heard other earlier FF games weren't complete crap). The writing and story were so atrocious, it was hard for me not to call out how stupid some of the things they did/said were while playing it. Normally I don't like how nitpicky gaming sin channels get, but your video and description for this game were really accurate. PS The joke at 4:47 was hilarious! I usually like the roles Baker chooses to voice, but Snow was easily the exception. He was so annoying, I really wanted to strangle him by the end of the game. Again ALL OF THIS IS JUST MY OPINION so don't get pissy if you don't agree.
No, I agree with you - wholeheartedly. As a former FF fanboy, I never seen a character cast so atrocious in a FF game before - they are mostly rehashes of bad Shonen heroes and other FF archetypes. I mean, their motivations and choices to advance the plot alone make you acknowledge how bad the plot is. It's as if this game is aimed at sheltered people who never read good stories before. What truly scares me is this game's fanbase. Tip: Stay away from titles that involve Motomu Toriyama.
Glad this didn't sway you from the series, because the series isn't bad, despite some of the games it produces. I happened to like this one, but not nearly as much as I enjoyed 7. I am also a huge fan of 8 and I know that's not one of the more popular ones.
I'm thinking of picking up FF XV when it comes out, I've never played a FF game before but I love the way the new game looks and how open world it is and how it changed from being an rts (my opinion) would I be able to understand the game jumping in like this and if not how can I learn about this lore?
+Colin Kirkpatrick It's been a month, so you may have already gotten this answer, but go for it. Even though the games are numbered, they don't share lore or characters or universes between them unless they're direct sequels (X/X-2, XIII/XIII-2/XIII-3). There are sub-groups of games that do (supposedly) share a common mythos, and XV is apparently going to be a part of the "Fabula Nova Crystallis" mythos, which contains all the XIII games and Type-0. However, it's probably not going to have anything relating to those, other than _maybe_ some plot functions like Fal'Cie/l'Cie, but I haven't heard any mention of either. So really, any Final Fantasy game is a fine starting point, because it's not a single universe.
Unpopular opinion time! I actually liked the game. Sure, it had a lot of flaws, but I still enjoyed the experience I had with the game and the characters. Some of you may call people like Sazh and Hope wimps, but do you honestly think you would've reacted much differently in their shoes? No, you'd still be without direction at first. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that while you can sin this game for its notable flaws and plot holes, it's not the "overrated piece of absolute shit ever to come out of Square's ass" that some people tout it to be.
For sin 72 @ 8:10. I believe She uses it again towards the end when they come back to Cocoon. Also sin 77 at 8:41 I think that line is in reference to who Nora’s last words to him. She wanted Snow to keep Hope safe, but Snow didn’t know who she was talking about at this time.
yeah think that's the point I kinda like it when snow uses his head it's still a brick head but fuck he commits like clearing that crowd with a machine gun
Sin number 77 is Snow referring to Hope's mother telling Snow to protect her son. Snow doesn't know who Hope is, so he figures he needs to protect everyone.
This game just tried way too hard to shove the lore at you right at the top. I've seen it said before that other FF games ease you in slow. FF7 starts with a guy blowing up a reactor because the power plant is evil. Simple enough premise. They ease you into the identity crisis and Jenova/Sephiroth storyline. 7-10 is where I played and I still much prefer them. I agree that XIII had good graphics and the gameplay was somewhat decent but jesus christ I could not get through this game. I felt bad for it since I'm a huge FF fan, but it's good to see that I'm not the only one who found it cringe-worthy. I'm amazed that Dartigan was able to play through it from start to finish. I would not be able to find the intrigue level high enough to continue. There are so many better games out there. Playing FF means you have to grind and commit and...I gotta give props for that commitment. And Dartigan did the whole trilogy as I can see from my sidebar. Seriously man. Kudos. I couldn't get through the first and I just pretty much am watching these sin videos to get an idea of what happens.
Final Fantasy 13 may have played the game for you. But you got to give it one thing. After a while, the game will just hand you your ass if you don't actually learn to play it. The difficulty in this game was some of the highest for an RPG i've played. The bosses got insane, to the point where a single mistake would wipe you.
One: Your video quality and actually accurate in depth analysis of super long games is impressive. Two: You are one of the only Cinema Sins clone/spin-off channels to actually give credit to Cinema Sins Style. I tip my hat to you good sir.
FF15 didn't use latin - they pulled random words out their butts. Lucis... they'd believe it pronounced Loo Shus... yeah right. Not even Shis which would still be wrong but Shus with an emphasized UH sounds. This by the company who had an broken English speaker fail at pronouncing Tidus make it Teedus which makes no sense either. Square just needs to stop pretending Engrish isn't a thing and get someone who can pronounce properly to dictate cannon.
3:19 To make people remember FFVII, of course! 18:34 Why is the chains for Snow's necklaces stationary but the things on it are completely the other way?
fal'Cie don't tell l'Cie because humans are disposable tools to them, albeit being granted the magical upgrades that could end up immediately rebelling against their focus and the fal'Cie. Its more useful overall to just set them on their way and get them invested in their Focus, especially as their brands burn and they get urged on by the fear of turning cieth.
I can't disagree with most of the sins, despite liking this game, safe for a few... 1. The game is played for you if you choose the Auto-Battle option..which I will just assume everybody did ? Shame. 2. Vanille is 19 not 14. Surprising, I know. The only sin here would be that she acts too childish for her age. Most Japanese games aesthethics are like that, just in case I will get the "but she doesn't look like it!" counter. 3. The blond guy in NORA is not a "middle schooler". He's 17 and his name is Maqui for everybody that cares. :3 4. The blue haired guy is called Yuj. And yes, he is old enough to drink. (22 years old). I wonder by now if this is actually "irony" directed to all JRPGS. 5. Serah is 18 8D (yes, I know he didn't actually call her a minor, yet take this for trivia. ) 6. Why would Snow think that their Focus is to protect Cocoon? He said it himself. He wanted to believe that because Serah asked them to. No wonder nobody believes him though for the same reasons that the sin mentions. Yet Snow wanted to believe that regardless. 7. It's funny how he related the "purge poll" with Nazi Germany. Anyway, the people are brainwashed into believing that everybody that comes in contact with a fal'cie is a "danger". They're mostly controlled using their "fear of the unknown". And that's a great part of the FF13 storyline overall. But I do understand the "sin". 8. They would expect them to be dead? I don't know...maybe? Even so, they could have just went down to check if there were any dead bodies in the area and figure out whether they were dead or not. That still counts as "tracking". After all, people are counted as "disappeared" unless there are corpses to prove otherwise. For the rest...I agree. Pretty sweet nitpicking. XD
NekosMadness The first topic you mention just reflects how idiotic the "game plays for you" excuse is. I mean, sure, hate the game all you want, game is made of empty corridors, story is nonsensical, cast is annoying, yes I get it, valid reasons, but if someone goes with the "the game plays for you" BS is because they are the ones who want to use the Auto-Battle option. Heck, when I played for the first time, I didn't even use it much, until the part Lightning and Hope face that mecha bulbasaur thing. Then they go "why should I use the Techniques button, if the Auto Battle does everything for me?". Well, why are you so friggin' lazy?
BLJayEme Well it starts you off by using the auto battle so you get used to it. Also later when you have 5 atb slots it is annoying to go and pick out five spells in a few seconds before the gauge fills up so you don't waste anytime. Also you can't waste anytime in a battle because the game penalizes you for wasting even a couple seconds. And on top of that why would you hand pick the moves you want to use every time when you could do auto battle and get the same ones? When you are grinding for hours I don't want to have to focus that much on the most boring and annoying part of an RPG!
Genesiscrimsonheart There is no reason for you to "get used to it". If you want to challenge yourself, the option is there. If you don't want to, there's the auto-battle, it's just the "very easy" way out. Most people just didn't want to challenge themselves and "got used" to use the auto-battle though. And no. Sometimes it doesn't choose the best option. Mostly when it comes to the stat altering classes like sentinel, synergist, saboteur and medic. The auto-battle would just choose skills of those classes in base of some already pre-estabilished paramaters which can work or cannot. When I did use the auto-battle option I found myself having to shift through the skills a lot with these classes because it was not what I needed. And no. I had no issues not using the auto-battle. Once you get used to not using it, you will have more than enough time to choose what you want to do. Also there is *no way* to finish the game 100% without the proper strategy and therefore without choosing spells manually. No wonder you grinded for hours either. But,again, if you simply find those parts annoying then the auto-battle option is there for you..The auto-battle is simply there as an "auxiliary", not for you to play the whole game spamming it. Everybody should be happy instead they treat the option of *not* auto-battling as invisible and that's annoying.
Genesiscrimsonheart Even if it's there to get used to it, it doesn't eliminate the option to use the Techniques button, so there's still no excuse. The time penalties are only relevant if you're going for the trophies/achievements because the reward system is completely pointless in the game. And not always the Auto Battle does the same thing I'm planning to do. For example, and this one happened the most to me, when I wanted my character to use Cure on just one character, if there was another character who had their health just a little down, the Auto Battle would use the Cura spell (which completely sucks after some time). Same thing with status ailments, ex. I want to cast Veil, or Vigilance, but if the character I'm using has the ability to inflict the enemy's elemental weakness to a weapon, Auto Battle will favor that. Or I want to use just Poison, but the Auto Battle uses everything else. And you mentioned something that was interesting: Auto Battle in grinding, which is justifiable. But what about mandatory fights, and Boss Battles? Is it justifiable just sticking with Auto Battle?
8:55 Vanille rubbing up against Hope all the time is even creepier when you realize he's 14 and she's literally hundreds of years old. Yeah, sure she was in stasis for most of that time, but still.
Good Lord. I can't believe you're tackling this. This is easily the worst game I've ever forced myself to complete. And honestly, because of that, this is my new favorite from. I am so hyped for Part 2. Bless you, Dartigan.
The game is superbly linear until tens of hours later, party is constantly separated, auto-battle system, tons of character melodrama, overly drawn out segments of fighting through corridors. The game isn't terrible but people dislike the game because previous Final Fantasy games did these things better even FFX had towns/villages to roam around throughout the mostly linear journey to stretch your legs.
***** I can only speak from my experiences with FFX. Adding a few explorable towns/villages to the game (early on) could introduce more story elements and immersion building. More dialogue opportunities could take place between party members and speaking to various NPCs can help me understand the world better. Also, it can break the monotony of simply holding the forward button while walking down a straight path only to find yourself in the next random battle in hopes of getting to the next story cutscene as quickly as possible.
I agree with all you say, but it is worth mentioning that older Final Fantasy Games had similiar Problems. In Final Fantasy IX for example, the group is often seperated. But at least FF9 had only one flaw and not many like FF13. But the strange thing is, that I can't say that I hate Final Fantasy XIII. Probably because it was the first Main-series Game that I owned for myself. (sorry for my terrible English... I think)
AnimeFreakGame I didn't notice anything incorrectly worded by you so no need for an apology. I pretty much agree with you. I don't hate FF13, I actually want to play and enjoy it and I did the first time through. It's just a shame that there are a couple of glaring issues with it or I would seriously consider a second playthrough.
"a bird known for running on the ground, not flying". As entertaining as the videos are, this is a +1 sin for this video. Chocobos can fly. And have shown to do so. Very often. In FFIX, IV, etc. this plays a significant role.
It does not matter at all. The point was to sin for something that Chocobos don't do, not to sin for something that "specific Chocobos are not seen to do in certain games", especially not when FF always is flexible about this. Hell, they always write Chocobos the way they want. Even the adult ones fly a bit in the XIII series. So this is just defending an artificial reason to sin something that is not even close to being one.
Yakusoku no Ji Yellow chocobos do not fly. The chocobo is yellow. Chocobos who can fly are special cases, none of which are yellow (the ones in FFX glide short distances, but calling that flight would be more generous than giving away all your money) all of which are rare, and most of which are rarely seen by humans - to say it happens "often" ranges anywhere between ignorant and outright lying. Therefore, generalizing that chocobos do not fly is entirely reasonable. Learn to Final Fantasy, and while you're at it, learn to English.
Easily could've sinned Gadot, Lebreau, and Maqui recyclingdesigns for Wakka, Lulu, and literally every blonde male protagonist in the series? Auto Battle should be at least 50 sins. Vanille's constant orgasmic squeaks should be 130 sins.
Thankfully, Vanille is bearable in Japanese voiceover. That squeaks were also the reason I banned her (except for when I really need to spam Death when nothing else seems to work) from the battle group. And also the reason I deleted it the second I finished the game (somewhat of a speedrun)
3:41 Addressing your arguments- 1. A chocobo is a fantasy creature whose physiology does not necessarily correspond to avians in the real world. 2. See point 1. 3. See point 1.
millardsglory The game is linear, there is no doubt about it. Playing the game on automated commands is optional. I rarely used the auto-battle option, if ever. I like my manual inputs :D.
I always love that every FF game kicks off with a setting and backstory that was clearly cooked up by a weab in one minute after a massive bong rip or a line of coke
I saw both GCN gaming sins and yours as well. I like both however you earned my sub cause yours are more relate to actual game experience rather than constant nitpicking bout the obvious. Sure GCN is humorous but what is humor without some knowledge we didn't see or realized to balance it out.
I love this game, a lot, played the hell out of it even after I finished it. I know all its flaws, and though I agree with most of the things you say here about the sci fi stuff and all, I think the game is lovely. But I`m going to subscribe because this was funny as f u c k.
I'm only ten minutes into this video and the cringe factor is off the charts.....and for fuck's sake, who in the hell finds these character designs appealing?
The feeling of finally exiting Caccoon and seeing the world below was amazing. Like when you exit Midgar and realise theres actually a whole world to explore instead of just dank slums. But that was probably the only moment I actually gave a fuck about this game. Multiple sins for what they did to Shiva. Poor Shiva.
This video is curing the "Dead Inside" status this game inflicted upon me. It's like closure to this horrible experience. It's the first game I ever completed where I felt no urge to put the disk back in once it came out of the console. Also yes a video game sins channel, a great find.
Loved how you removed a sin every time Lightning punches Snow. I love it everytime that happens too..
She only does it twice. -_-
Wrong, she does it 3 times
Well...easy to forget when you don't play much anymore. Takes the fun out of the game when you can't stand the main character.
I LOLd so hard at 16:53.
Although for the shear number of people Snow sends to space by punching them, kinda makes up for his character a little.
i love when they mention saving people and you show the scene of everyone dieing
it just to show. even if you cant save everyone, you should not just stop trying. there is a story about a marine who trying to save his wife who been kidnapped and a lot of innocent people die in cross fire. you like that a lot do you?? as long as mc is some kind of movie hero, play by famous actor you just swallow everything up.
Im getting off the internet
This joke went so far past you, it hit the twin towers.
No one understands jokes nowadays
"Real heroes don't need plans!" ...-_-...sure bud.

Big brain
I didn't notice
Galaxy brain
Huh. Good to know
Which is a stupid way to identify a soldier. It's easy to miss. There's a reason why soldiers wear full, easily identifiable uniforms.
Imagine if the US Army required their soldiers to wear nothing but a belt buckle that had the American flag on it while at liberty. That's the same level of identification on display here.
and all of this in the first hour of the game...
Yup, make it even harder when you don’t understand English like me back then, I mean Jesus Christ even now that I understand English I still don’t know wtf is going on in this game story
@@pepsi4798
Its not that hard
"If I were a betting man, ..."
Sazh, we literally find you on Serendipity, a Neverland casino of sorts, in the next game. I'm actually impressed if this was intended foreshadowing.
this is why I like you, Dartigan. You actually played through this insane game and made this video for us. AND its in several parts. This subscribe was SO worth.
The Mighty Chespin Thanks Chespin. I won't lie, this one nearly made me give up. Glad you and the other fans seem to be enjoying it.
"I'm not a L'Cie."
"Good, I hate their brand of hard drives. I've had two of them fail."
If you get this joke, I will respect you.
Funny enough, both nouns share the exact same French origin.
"No one will die" -shows everyone dying- "I hope everyone made it out okay" -shows everyone not making it out okay- xD I can't this is one of my favorite videos of yours tbh
I agree!! I honestly come back to all three of these videos about every six months when I need a good laugh, because HOLEY SHT is this EWW hilarious!!
I'm going to be honest, although the game is terrible, I can't deny that the game looks fantastic even 5 years after its release
+Soriddo Suneku hallway games tend to look good. I mean just look at CoD. Does the game allow for player input? Barely but at least it looks nice.
+Soriddo Suneku It is a Square Enix game after all. If they can do anything right it's make a pretty game.
filipinowhiteboy literally everything you do in CoD requires player input
557deadpool
ehh...well, maybe a little more input than final fantasy XIII does but still, it's a hallway game through and through
Well... I enjoyed it for what it was
Not everything has to use same formula
Like death strsnding... Being different and stuff
'why is there a map in this game like you can get lost?'
without map you 100% gonna miss the missable monsters and treasure. and there are a lot missable contents.
To give you the illusion that you can go to other places
+Mani Davis true, this game is mostly linear...the map is not really important however...it is true there is some hidden content that can be discovered by looking properly the map
The Corporate final fantasy 10 did it too but it was better in that game because you can go back to places.
Mani Davis
True you are right on that one.
I enjoyed FFXIII, but i can't deny that this game have HUGE flaws.
But XIII-2 at least fixed the issues with the Team Leader BS of the first.
ru55ianR3AP3R How can you NOT consider it a ff game? Da fuck?
I don't understand why people bitchs about the combat system of XIII. I mean, since it is not a turn-based RPG anymore, you must have certain commands already set to repeat itself as quickly as possible.
masterxlr Lost Odyssey is the REAL FF 13.
I forget. Who are the enemies of Cocoon again?
+safnhuo He really IS insane and this was his work? I thought I was my fault for having trouble understanding the lore and the thought process of these characters. Guess it turns out I was right to question.
+jettythesunfish You're the enemy of cocoon... What a twist. Now you will need the power of love and the help of your childhood friend, who's also a bareknuckle boxer, to destroy it. Because this is a JRPG. You're the hero. This is your story...
+jettythesunfish The script.
+safnhuo What's the insane guy's name so I can search that up?
+jettythesunfish WE ARE!
Just one thing
At 8:43 Snow was talking about what Hope’s mom said, being vague with her pronouns and all, and thinking “well, if I get ALL of them home, then one of them must be the ‘him’ she was talking about.”
"Why are any of you besides Vanille... wow, that's a weird thing to say... competent fighters?"
I just realized that myself lmao.
Before the start of the game Lightning was in the Guardian Corps. Basically they handled out of control civilian threats and animal attacks which were fairly common. Sazh is the real head scratchers since Sazh was a train conductor before the game started.
@@MykeThaOrphan0209 Train robberies and hijackings must be an absolute scourge for Sazh to be as big of a badass as he is.
Dartigan, you are officially a braver man than all of us combined for taking on this task. I applaud you for that.
+Fangs of Yima Same here here , maybe it's the art direction .
There is always something attractive about passionately crafted stupidity.
DO ITTTTT OMG ITZ AWESOME
I want to say I'm confused cuz I didn't play the game but I don't think playing would help by much.
Soji Adeleke Trust me it would just be faster to wit til next week
***** and less boring. I played this game and kind of, not really, enjoyed it. But dam it is repetitive as hell.
luisdaNotSam I hated trying to replay this game! I hate Barthandelus form 2. You know what's really wrong with this game? That every enemy you face can kill you! I hate that!
***** Yet getting your plane shot down, doesn't leave a scratch? Damn, that sounds stupid.
Shut up! Oh my god, *SHUT UP!!*"
Seriously, her Teletubby-like grunts are SUPER grating.
Vanille And Fang are Australians, but their accent are comically exaggerated like Steve Irvine
i love this game even with its flaws i enjoyed play it all
+zorohibiki So do I~
same here~
We are four now~
zorohibiki you're a dumbass
557deadpool hey, don't insult him just like that!!
'"I guess this guy didn't have any kids that needed character develpoment" I died.
I've played Final Fantasy XIII and till this day I still wonder how Hope managed to fit that boomerang into his pocket.
Xiamaiya Henson you ever play the legend of Zelda 😂😂😂
Xiamaiya Henson maybe he learned it from link lol
I guess the creators wanted to emphasize that Hope doesn’t fight or can’t fight but forgot to show that he has a weapon and chooses not to use it
this was the only game i have ever stopped playing midtrough and did not finish
the gameplay is really not my cup of tea
and it really annoyed me that the female characters are either super mature, strong and kinda bitchy or super annoying, childlike and weak
Roxyhun There is no way in hell I would have finished this game if I wasn't making a video on it. Easily the worst FF of all of them.
Are you counting Lightning Returns? Because that game is borderline torture.
Dartigan CAN YOU DO A VIDEO ABOUT GAMING SINS IN DYING LIGHT??? PLEASE RESPOND!!
Maybe. I've considered it so I might bring it up for a vote at some point.
Dartigan huh?
you didn't sin the game for sounding like porn?
Am I the only who liked final fantasy 13
hunter James i liked it too.
hunter James I like it, too.
I liked it as well
hunter James Love the story, hate the game, if it would simply be one long movie i would like it way more.
Having to actually play through it is torture for me.
hunter James fucking loved it
I lold at the sin removal of Lightning punching Snow in the face
Both times.
8:40 Snow is talking about Hope here. Since she was playing the pronoun game he doesn’t know who “he” is, so he’s just saving everyone and that way hopefully one of them is the “him” she was talking about.
FF13's sins video was long over due since its release. You're the hero RUclips needed.
Can't wait for part 2 ;)
Yes you can and will
***** Have you checked your pockets?
Crimson-Tone You can stop waiting now...
Fun facts
You are a brave man for this, Dartigan. It takes no ordinary man to tackle this eldritch abomination of a game. Godspeed.
EnvyMizuhashi Easily the worst game I've forced myself through for these videos.
Dartigan
Ah you must be the idiot who thinks this is a bad game. Especially since you clearly do not undestand "show, don't tell". Seriously, 3/4ths of these so called "sins" aren't even such. Rather just overly nitpicking that is blatant ignoring further plot points or just ignoring the visuals in general.
Gackt4awesome The people who don’t understand ‘show don’t tell’ are the writers of this game.
EnvyMizuhashi Is the game really that bad, cuz I really want to get into Final Fantasy, and I don’t have retro consoles, plus I don’t want to wait for the VII remake since it still doesn’t have a release date:
Actually could someone tell me a good current FF game to start with
I recommend FF6, 7 or 9, all 3 of those are available on steam and don't require the most intense PC to run, plus they are the best in main franchise imo.
Otherwise, 15 is quite good as wwell after the recent changes while Zodiac Age is a decent one to get into as well.
i loved this game but i gotta admit i cant deny ur argument XD
D'Man I perfectly agree with you, played and liked through the game, but damn these are so funny yet so true
D'Man This is the gaming equivalent of "I don't like sand."
D'Man I can it's simple. Lightning is hot seems like reason enough for any normal person to play. But not all of us are normal.
so does "playing cause its a final fantasy game" count
Latios Maybe
The game is playing itself, Jon!
GOD HAS COME TO REAP THE SINNERS
Max Payne Hey Michael... Try going right.
Max Payne I was there...
Re-watching this has become my yearly tradition.
06:46 Square be like : ever heard of friendly fire ? Just saying
When I first play ff xiii, I was like:
"What the F*CK is a 'Cie'???"
Khoa Nguyễn Probably because you didn't read the datalog/pay attention to dialogues.
I don't know either... I know l'Cie and fal'Cie and Cieth (which is "Shigai" or something in Japanese), but still can't understand the "Cie" part of either.
Tried reading the in-game wikipedia just to see whether or not Dartigan is right... The 13 days were described there per day (somewhat short, though), but some things are just too boring to read through.
this is still one of my all time favorite youtube videos
Beautiful job, mate. Fuck this game. Fuck this game in particular.
This game finally pulled the wool from my eyes. Up until I got this game I was a Final Fantasy fanboy. No more. This game took all the shits I had left to give. I literally threw this game against the wall after I finished it.
Gangerworld We can always remember the good times. Like FF 9. Now that is how you do a fucking Final Fantasy game.
I remember when I was a kid my mom took away my ps3 because Vanille kept making sex sounds for everything she did.
2:13 Noting this for RABtoon.
Haha young Dartigan was a menace. Hilarious video
Snow is like... the worst character ever made in a game.
every char in ff13 was bad written except lightning. it is a shame that she has to be in the worst ff game since ever. wasted character.
Mike Wichmann I think Paine from FFX-2 could be a strong character too. I really like FFX, but in X-2, the only thing good is the battle system and Via Infinito.
He reminds me way too much of Shinjiro from Persona 3.
Robert Jay defend it all u want, have to admit its flawed in so many ways, if u played previous games in series u would easily see the flaws, this first FF game if i rated it gave it 6/10 very disappointing,
story made no sense, characters I liked some of them, Lightening and Hope were worse characters.
Robert Jay
Let's say you're right about the "They survive this" sins.
Gangerworld
1) This is really stretching it and I'm not going to deny it.
2) See my response to Helel
3) Anima is a Gran Pulse Fal'Cie and 500 years after the War of Transgression, I'd doubt that a Gran Pulse Fal'Cie would care whether or not Cocoon would fall out of the sky.
The only Final Fantasy games I've played were physical damage is visible were Crisis Core and Type-0.
was I the only one who actually liked ff13
No, I liked it.
Nah I liked it ok... just that it was also my second least favorite FF game (my least fav being FF 12, blech). The gameplay wasn't too bad though, and it looked good. Just that the characters don't become even remotely likable until halfway through the game in my opinion.
I loved the game. Not so much for 13-2 and LR but 13 I loved.
Nope, I liked it as well.
Best. Game. Ever.
Because Lightning.
NOW I see why everyone told me not to even look at this game
9:32
Um, did you just gloss over the fact that Hope just pulled that boomerang out of his ass?
I feel like the creators wanted to emphasize that Hope can’t fight or is bad at it but forgot to actually show that he has a weapon.
Either that or he found that boomerang on the pulse vestige and the designers forgot to show it
Ok fun fact most of guardian core handle environmental threats like animal attacks. Which explains Lightning fighting skill. The pauldron she wears on her arm is actually a device used to identify someone as a soldier. What doesn’t make sense is Sazh being a capable fighter considering he was a train conductor before the game started.
guess he was a hobbyist gunslinger went to the range every saturday to practice?
Er....Okay?
I love how you take a sin off every time Lightning punches Snow. It's freaking amazing. Best part of the game 11/10
out of no respect for this game, this was not enough sins lol
Scratch this whole comment, didn't see "part 1" in title XD
gamernomad3 The game has so much shit,
that it needs more videos to sin it all
+gamernomad3 His sins are about as valid as most of cinemasins.
+Helldemon Kerins Which means they are valid.
Ya, when he adds a sin for the game not explaining something then adds a sin when the game does explain it, completely valid...
Helldemon Kerins Shit writing is still shit writing. Even when you explain it.
Some of these reminded me of Spoony's review of this game, but it's understandable because almost all are easily noticed
Keep making these videos, they really give me a good and needed laugh.
Nooooooo I love this game ._.
***** Ok i can understand you had fun with this game, but you can't call it a good game
+BiggBossChanel He didn't say it was a good game.
+lostinYourReality then u are part of a minority lol
Pulse is hell on earth 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 DEAD lmao holy shit this is so funny
Final Fantasy 13 may have played the game for you. But you got to give it one thing. After a while, the game will just hand you your ass if you don't actually learn to play it. The difficulty in this game was some of the highest for an RPG i've played. The bosses got insane, to the point where a single mistake would wipe you.
yeah true
+Ch1l1C0nCarnag3 This is part of why it received so much unfounded hate
+Solomon Overboard True
One: Your video quality and actually accurate in depth analysis of super long games is impressive. Two: You are one of the only Cinema Sins clone/spin-off channels to actually give credit to Cinema Sins Style. I tip my hat to you good sir.
i don't know why I died so hard at 16:00 "vanille throwing up gang signs"
4:56 ff13: at least translate it into Latin
ff15: too much latin
Lmao I wonder if they watched this video and did that.
@@iggy9790 its actually pronounced Loo-fis the C next to the I makes an f sound. For example: No one gives Ciuck you damn grammer Nazi.
3:19 To make people remember FFVII, of course!
18:34 Why is the chains for Snow's necklaces stationary but the things on it are completely the other way?
That girl who acts like she's 5 years old, whatever her name is, is awful. She alone makes me not want to play this game.
Great video.
?
+Neon Murray The pink haired girl.
+Big Fat Man Vanille
I love it when you remove sins for everytime Lightning punches Snow.😂
"Real heroes don't need plans!"
"Yes they do. Especially when they look like you four."
Brilliant xD!
Holy fucking shit.
This game looks like the child made from the union of shitty shonen manga and The Hunger Games
Geek Furioso de la Literatura That's not far off from the truth.
Geek Furioso de la Literatura looks like? Do you mean written like?
Shout "Freeze" immediately open fire? Sounds like US cops! minus a ding
I'm sorry but this shit is hilarious. And personally, would have removed 5 sins for Lightning punching Snow
How ever I don't exactly agree with the poking fun at Vanille
fal'Cie don't tell l'Cie because humans are disposable tools to them, albeit being granted the magical upgrades that could end up immediately rebelling against their focus and the fal'Cie. Its more useful overall to just set them on their way and get them invested in their Focus, especially as their brands burn and they get urged on by the fear of turning cieth.
7:25 I died from hysteria and my cat now thinks I'm mad xD
-3 months later and I still can't stop laughing x'D
No matter what, I'm still in love with this game.. yes, I played almost every main final fantasy title :)
4. The blue haired guy is called Yuj. And yes, he is old enough to drink. (22 years old). I wonder by now if this is actually "irony" directed to all JRPGS.
5. Serah is 18 8D (yes, I know he didn't actually call her a minor, yet take this for trivia. )
BLJayEme 100% agreed. The option to challenge yourself is there. People just choose to not use it because it's "bothersome".
Genesiscrimsonheart
Even if it's there to get used to it, it doesn't eliminate the option to use the Techniques button, so there's still no excuse.
You know a game is bad when you need two 20 minute parts to go over the sins of a game....
"Hehe. You just watched your mom die." I dieded.
I don't get why the game is hated, it isn't bad.
***** Oh...so what would had happened if FF13 had non linear exploration?
I think)
AnimeFreakGame
I didn't notice anything incorrectly worded by you so no need for an apology.
In most games only purple chocobos can fly. 4 ,5 and 9 might be the only ones where yellow ones fly.
it does not matter which chocobos can fly. the fact is, chocobos can fly.
Yakusoku no Ji It does matter seeing as sazh has a yellow chocobo chick and most of the time yellow chocobos dont fly.
The whole, "if you don't know who you have to save, you just save them all" line is about Hope's mom charging Snow with saving 'him'.
13:23 Bruh I just died laughing.
FF7 remake is squares big moment to win fans back, I would rather see 1-9 remakes than more crap like 13.
True
True!
I don't care what anyone says this is still one of my favorite games XD
At least I found one nice comment!! I've been looking for this!
wondering if everyone else had Fang, Lightning and Hope as there main party?
+Kei5ive Yes actually, in that order.
+JameboHayabusa vanille for lightning but only for boss fights
main party was snow,lightning,vanille
Kei5ive I'm playing the game now those are my 3 mains....I'm to the point of pulse thank god it stops making me switch chars
Fang, Lightning and Vanille was mine
I had Lightning, Snow and Hope
That mass massacre at the hanging edge always gets me XD
"Vanille throwing gang signs", one sentence I never expected to hear
Easily could've sinned Gadot, Lebreau, and Maqui recyclingdesigns for Wakka, Lulu, and literally every blonde male protagonist in the series?
Auto Battle should be at least 50 sins.
Vanille's constant orgasmic squeaks should be 130 sins.
I agree on the last part. Her voice is very obnoxious.
Worst part? Her voice actor actually voices Sydney in Payday 2.
Thankfully, Vanille is bearable in Japanese voiceover. That squeaks were also the reason I banned her (except for when I really need to spam Death when nothing else seems to work) from the battle group. And also the reason I deleted it the second I finished the game (somewhat of a speedrun)
GLORIOUS!!!
Still love this game with the flaws it has 😁
I died at "why is there a map in this game like you can get lost? The entire game is one long- loooong hallways..."
3:41 Addressing your arguments- 1. A chocobo is a fantasy creature whose physiology does not necessarily correspond to avians in the real world. 2. See point 1. 3. See point 1.
Final Fantasy XIII is over hated in my opinion. The story is shit but the gameplay is pretty good.
***** I like the story. Pretty much one of those "us vs. everybody" kind of stories.
***** I'm the opposite. The story is pretty intriguing , but the gameplay felt like a chore.
UsonoHoushi Yeah, maxing out characters and their weapon(s) can take a bit of time.
***** Seriously, You enjoyed an automated Linear game?
The only thing 13 had was a story and animation. :x
millardsglory The game is linear, there is no doubt about it. Playing the game on automated commands is optional. I rarely used the auto-battle option, if ever. I like my manual inputs :D.
I always love that every FF game kicks off with a setting and backstory that was clearly cooked up by a weab in one minute after a massive bong rip or a line of coke
You obviously watched Spoony's video on FFXIII or you have the same train (no pun intended) of thought :) good video, though.
+Nick I know right? That's what I was thinking. They're saying the same things.
+༼ つ◕ω◕ ༽つ WOW well Spoony basically hit every reason why this game sucks
Or he just plagiarized his material.
I saw both GCN gaming sins and yours as well. I like both however you earned my sub cause yours are more relate to actual game experience rather than constant nitpicking bout the obvious. Sure GCN is humorous but what is humor without some knowledge we didn't see or realized to balance it out.
What about how Hope’s mom somehow knows how to operate a rocket launcher because “moms are tough”.
I love this game, a lot, played the hell out of it even after I finished it. I know all its flaws, and though I agree with most of the things you say here about the sci fi stuff and all, I think the game is lovely. But I`m going to subscribe because this was funny as f u c k.
It's literally the worst AAA video game I've ever played.
Oh boy, a game called Death Stranding was recently released...
Sounds to me like you havent played many AAA games.
@@RRRRRRRRR33 Death Stranding is 10X better then this game and its not trying to pull a trilogy of bullshit out of its ass
I'm only ten minutes into this video and the cringe factor is off the charts.....and for fuck's sake, who in the hell finds these character designs appealing?
cleomagoolando
Or their motivations? Or personality? Or anything in this game for that matter?
"in your giant-ass tetsuya nomura pockets."
I'M DED
The feeling of finally exiting Caccoon and seeing the world below was amazing. Like when you exit Midgar and realise theres actually a whole world to explore instead of just dank slums. But that was probably the only moment I actually gave a fuck about this game. Multiple sins for what they did to Shiva. Poor Shiva.
This video is curing the "Dead Inside" status this game inflicted upon me. It's like closure to this horrible experience. It's the first game I ever completed where I felt no urge to put the disk back in once it came out of the console.
Also yes a video game sins channel, a great find.
