    ---------------------------------
Final Fantasy 8 Remastered is an updated version of the PlayStation classic. Today, we prepare for our adventure by farming for some very powerful magics and abilities available from the beginning of the game. None of these tips require the use of the enhanced features or cheats that are included in the Remastered edition of the game.
    1. I strongly advise completing the Fire Cavern before starting this farming (this ensures Ifrit receives the AP benefits).
    2. Use the Queen of Cards in Balamb to establish the 'All' Trade Rule for the Balamb region.
    3. Learn the GF abilities, Card Mod, T Mag RF, I Mag RF, & F Mag RF.
    4. Start battling card players around Balamb Garden.
    5. Profit!
Don't forget you can use the link below to find my full and complete walkthrough to Final Fantasy VIII which has strategies such as these and more to help you throughout the entire adventure!

To limit the amount of exp gain for your characters, try using the Card ability on the Fastitocalon. This prevents the earning of exp while allowing the AP for your GF's to build up.
I am not certain that Carding the enemies gives the same AP as simple killing them, more research will have to be done.

My wife has been playing the remastered version since it came out. It looks like if you let the the timer for the fire cavern run out during the name screen, you DO NOT get any points. I guess it was a glitch they decided to correct when they updated the system for the remaster. Also, she noticed that if you use the card ability you can keep your levels low as you gain exp for every monster you kill. However, if you card the monsters, you can still gain the AP for your GFs but not gain exp/level up which, as we've all gradually learned over time, is better than simply leveling up because it also keeps the monsters you fight weak. So that's another reason aside from the mod feature. The biggest con to this is for when people are looking for specific items dropped by certain monsters as their drop rates varies (ex Adamantoise at level 30+ can drop more of Adamantine, which you need for Lionheart, rather than a lower level one).

I highly recommend farming the Triface card once you've obtained Siren. One of them will refine into a Curse Spike, and with Siren's Status Magic refinement, turns into 10 Pains (A status effect that causes blind, silence and poison simultaneously). Use Siren's Status Attack Junction, and one of your characters can cause all three status ailments with every attack! :-)

On my last playthrough I finished the game averaging level 15 amongst my main three, with stats like level 70+ characters in most RPGs. The one that I have done is the spider tank X-ATMO92. You lose points for the Conduct and Spirit scores, but the AP you can get is incredible. I know a few ways to take it down to 0 HP multiple times within the 30 minute limit, but my favorite is to cast double on everyone, then 2x thundara. Keep it going till 100 on each char and junction to Str. Blitz cards 1-1 refine into Dynamo Stones which give 20 Thundagas with T-Mar Ref. Give whoever has Ifrit Str +20-40-60% and 100 Thundagas on Elem Atk. That character will normal hit X-ATM for 5.5-6k one shotting him assuming your around lv20ish. Makes farming him MUCH faster without having to sit through limit break animations.

During the exam in Dollet, keep Squall and Zell KOed. Use only Seifer and junction all 3 Guardian Forces to him, level him up so he can draw 4 -ra spells when he's around level 30s. Make sure that all party members (including Quistis, who isn't currently in the party, and Seifer himself, whose stocked spells will be inherited by Selphie later) get all ra spells by having Seifer draw them from G-Soldiers then give it to each party member before stocking the spellls himself. Then keep leveling him up until he's around level 60s so he can draw -ga spells, as well as Dispel from Elite Soldiers and Bio from Anacondaur. Again, make sure each of the 4 characters have these spells before you proceed to the Communication Tower where Seifer will leave you permanently.
Also, make sure the GFs learn the prioritized abilities: the refine abilities, the J abilities, stat% abilities, etc; learn every GF abilities before bothering to learn GFHP and SumMag abilities (I very rarely, if ever, use summons; so these abilities aren't really important to me).

Later, I farm there for cards to get the Jumbo Cactuar boss card. It will really help during early card games. A a hit or two to anything in the grasslands and the character with card should be able to turn them without raising your level.)

Something to note. You have a higher chance of a limit break once your current HP is less than a quarter of your max HP. If you junction curaga to your HP and then unjunction (or something along those lines), you will permanently be in that supposedly danger zone, except you're not really, as the enemies will do damage as per your actual level. So even in your unhealthy state, bosses will still need 10 hits to take you down, while you get limit breaks every round. With Zell in your party, you can take any boss down in a single round.
Also, once you have enc none, you need not fight any non-boss for the rest of the game. Top up your meltdowns with your many TT cards, and you are effectively capable of taking on Omega Weapon before you go to Timber for your first mission.

  • @EveryoneNeedsASmile
    @EveryoneNeedsASmile 5 лет назад +14

You mention keeping levels low, but potentially missed the best way to do that. Still play cards and get tons of them ready, but don't go to the beach for fasticalons. Instead, go to the dollet mission. Give Seifer all the GFs, then kill off Squall and Zell. You can then proceed to level up Seifer and the GFs as much as you want (learning all the best skills and eventually drawing higher level magic).
By letting Seifer do all the fighting, none of the main party members will gain exp. You'll still be just as overpowered before Elvoret, but even better off long term.

    • @Ariastyr

    • @EveryoneNeedsASmile
      @EveryoneNeedsASmile 5 лет назад +5

@@Ariastyr There is actually a battle with two Anacondaurs that gives 8 ap and around 800 exp, and it's all pretty easy since Seifer can constantly use his limit break (since the rest of the party are dead). It shouldn't take longer than the fasticalons on the beach anyway.

If you want to maintain a low level run but get overpowered, kill Squall and Zell during the Dollet mission and grind Seifer only to a high level. The three GFs will max out abilities and levels, you can draw high level magic from enemies, who will also drop better items for creating weapons. You'll now easily defeat the giant robot 8 times with level 100 Quezacotl for more AP. Then when you're back to Garden, get Diablos easily and grind his abilities by fighting T-Rexaurs at Garden and defeating them using Card. Having Ifrit and T-Rexaur cards will easily allow you get all the rare cards in Balamb. Then get a bunch of the available cards to convert to items and magic.

All you need to get overpowered early on in Final Fantasy VIII:
    15 Armadodo Cards
    15 Abyss Worm Cards
    30 Gayla Cards
    30 Tri-Face Cards
100 copies each of Firaga, Blizzaga, Thundaga, and Curaga -- Which you can draw from random Dollet encounters on high levels.
The above grant you 300 Quakes, Tornadoes, Meltdowns, and Pains, which, alongside Curaga, are the absolute best early-game spells to Junction to each character's HP, Strength, Vitality, Magic, and Spirit respectively. The Firaga, Blizzaga, and Thundaga cards are for Elemental Attack Junctioning.
All you need to do is solo grind Seiffer to level 100, and draw the "Aga spells from the Dollet random encounters. That's it.
    Also worth getting:
    11 Gesper Cards > 300 Demi's + Degenerator
    15 Cockatrice Cards > 300 Breaks
    15 Elastoid Cards > 300 Berserk's
    15 Forbidden Cards > 300 Confuse's
    10 Ochu Cards > 300 Blind's
    300 Sleeps
You pretty much want access to both Demi and Break in order to avoid gaining experience points as much as possible. The other status's are more or less for defensive purposes.
Also, after you acquire Ifrit, all you really need to get started on Triple Triad are Mini-Mog and a couple decent Lv. 3 cards, and then Quistis, Marbloro, Elastoid, and Biggs and Wedge. Then you can grind for the above cards from the girl at the library tables for all of the above cards as well as a complete set of every card from level's 1-5 minus PuPu.

I think i spent 50 hours getting 100 of every card possible, and filled out my card collection by more then 50%. FYI: - IF YOU HAVE 100 MONSTER CARDS, YOUR CARD COMMAND WILL FAIL, WHEN TRYING TO CARD THAT PARTICULAR MONSTER! I learned this the hard way, so remember to periodically Card Mod those cards and keep them under 100, otherwise your Card Command will fail during battle! with the ALL rule and card mod you can really rack up some real stacks of cards. One thing I'm not sure of with the new remaster but happens on the original disks and the first remaster is that the rules will change after so many hands with the All rule, one by pass I found is to keep a count of how many times you played the same guy and when you are one to two hands from the switch if you hit another card player the All switch count will reset to one and last a few hands again. Another thing is try to farm for the Jumbo Cactuar card before going to farm cards, it really helps in the first stages of card farming before you can hunt for better cards (pre cc members quest) and you can get it as soon as you have Card (also going for this gets other cards, magics and other useful things that you miss just farming the beach plus it breaks up the monotony) and is easy to do before you go for the final test, but can even wait till you get back and have 3 guys in your party.

Farming Mesmerize cards for Card modding will yield 20 Regens per item with Life Mag RF which busts your HP when junctioned into the endgame too

I look forward to more of this. I did not junction well in my original game 20 years ago and it was a huge pain defeating Omega!

Similar. I played FF8 like a traditional RPG and just leveled up. My final stats were fairly low and Omega remained undefeated in my original play through.

A suggestion for more powerful cards. You could draw a bunch of sleeps and use those to farm t rexaur cards. They have decent starter stats

good guide for starting off, i didnt have any trouble on my first run until i got to Ultimecia and she one shotted me with grievers death move =( my whole team was wiped and this might help me get there with better junctions on another low level game (do NOT overlevel or this really will be instant death when before she transforms the third time!) will use this to have a better shot at survivng that dang move and possibly sweeping her next time, i did not use these hints on my first run other than staying as low level as possible

I Always challenge the train driver just next to the Queen of cards, to spread the change or all rule in all Balamb area.

You could even go a step further and get the lionheart wep for squall in disc 1. You can get it right after the brothers side quest.
