I planned on taking the lid off and just making a filter out of a 5 gallon bucket. How is that fx 6 filter working? If you make a 5 gallon filter bucket and build up good bacteria you shouldn’t have to change the water out much.

Does the outside walls on your freezer get hot to touch from running? Mine does 🤷‍♂️

Sean Moore it does. More in the summer than the cooler months. If you have a temperature controller set the degree differential of when it comes on and goes off to a smaller variance. Say if you have it coming on at 55 degrees then set the the upper temperature to 57 degrees so that when it warms to 57 it will turn back on and only have to cool it two degrees before shutting off. That may help unless you already have it set like that lol. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any more questions

Really cool man. I just bought a deep freezer to turn into a bait tank too. What made you use that brand of silicone? Did it work good on the white plastic interior? That’s what my freezer is too. I’ve been looking at ASI or aqueon brand? Do you think those will work good?

Yeah that brand I used worked well I didnt pick a particular brand I just wanted it to be fish safe. So I would think any brand of aquarium silicone would work. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any more questions .

Does your lid have a light on it? Mine does I don’t what I should do about it. I have decided if I’m going to leave the lid off or on. I originally was going to take it off but then I saw how you drilled air holes in yours.

The fx 6 filter is working great. I left the lid on mine so the trout would not jump out you could take it off depending on what type of bait you plan on keeping. Mine does have a light but it doesn't stay on because the inkbird temperature control only supplies the freezer with power when its cooling not all the time like if you had it plugged straight into the wall. What type of bait and fishing do you do.
