Having that issue was curious how that worked out for you I may have to do the same
Working great no issues. Thanks for watching Let me know if you have any questions
What size pvc pipe is that
4 inch pvc Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any other questions
thank you.. just was I was looking for
Your welcome glad it will help ya out if you have any questions just let me know
Cool idea, one thing that catches my eye that seems like could be an issue, is the setup becoming a "collection post/catch all", for hydrilla, milfoil, etc... Being you posted this video 2 years ago now, I'm curious to know if you'd design it the same way today, after having used it for 2 years, applying the old adage of, "if I knew then, what I know now"? I fish North and East Texas lakes, the majority having quite a bit of grass, and I'm about to be mounting this transducer on my trolling motor, and was curious if you'd change anything in your design if you were to do it all over again?
Wouldn't change a thing. It's been performing perfectly. We fish for striped bass so we don't run into any weed or things collecting on it. We pull planer boards and the boat doesn't get into the shallows just the boards. We are in north east tennessee and we don't have alot of grasses where we fish mostly soil and rock bottoms. Let me know if you use it and if you have any questions about the build thanks for watching and tight lines.
How wide do you cut the pipe that fits against the trolling motor😊
The gap I cut was 2 3/8 inches be sure to sand down the edges so it sits flush with the motor housing. Might vary a little depending on what motor you have . Let me know if you have any other questions and thanks for watching
Awesome video and I have the PowerDrive v2.. ur design is gonna save me prob 300 bucks.. GREAT IDEAL
@scottrummel9477 glad it's gonna help you out. When I ran into this problem it made me mad that they didn't make something to adapt there product to all motors so when I came up with this I wanted to help out the people that had they same problem. Thanks again and tight lines
Incredbile, fixes my exact issue. Thank you!!
Your welcome glad it worked for you and thanks for watching
Can’t you just cut the skeg off? Or do you actually need the skeg. I have the same issue.
I thought about doing that but you would have to cut it flush with the motor housing and I didn't want to chance that when they cast the skeg that ther would be a small hollow spot where he skeg and the housing meets. I didn't want to void the warranty or have a point that if I had to patch it that it would be a problem spot for a leak. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any other questions
Guess Im going the PVC route!!!
@shayeoana probably the better option
Amazing video this helped me out a lot. Just wondering what transducer cover/mount did you use? Or did you use one at all
Here is the link to Amazon for the mount. I used to attach the transducer to the pipe spacer Humminbird 740182-1 AD MTM HW MSI... www.amazon.com/dp/B07L3K13ZC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share Make sure you check the number of screws on the bottom of your transducer, mine had eight but some models have less. Didn't use a cover or anything we striper fish so we don't get into any weeds or trees. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any more questions. Tight lines
Can I come hug your neck for this? Solved my problem.
Glad this helped you out. Thanks for watching and tight lines
I have to get back closer to the ocean 🌊
What size penn reel was that
That is a penn spinfisher V 8500 live liner. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any other questions
Great idea! A couple of thoughts. If you can find it in the right size, there is black ABS pipe. Also, the wiring up the front might grab weeds or moss.
Thanks for watching they do make the black pipe but I already had the pvc and the flex seal. I don't have any weed issues but we fish for striped bass so aren't in the real shallow water. Thanks again for watching and tight lines.
Where did you get that black transducer mount? Mine didn’t come with it . Mine has a silver one
Humminbird 740182-1 AD MTM HW MSI Trolling Motor Adapter Bracket a.co/d/1yAbBfV Here is the link to Amazon Mine had 8 screws so make sure which one you need cause I think they make a 6 screw one. The number of screws is how the transducer mounts to the bracket. Thanks for watching and let me knowbif you have any more questions.

@@subasurfcastersdid you use the black flex seal spray can?
Yes the black spray flex seal
Does it affect the picture?

This is the exact problem I am running into. Thank you for this, very innovative and will drastically change my set up for this up coming boat season. Has any problems came about or is there anything that you would change? Thanks again.

@@loganmapes2307 let me know if you have any questions during your build. Thanks for watching
@@subasurfcasters How did you manage the transducer cable running up the shaft of the motor to avoid pinching/damaging it
@@loganmapes2307 mine doesn't attach to the motor shaft. I have a new minnkota powerdrive and the shaft of the motor slides in the motor housing until it hits a stop bracket you adjust for the motor depth. I have it attached up by the head of the motor above where it slides with a zip tie
Know the spot! Going there and following the signs of your setup video. Any advice for bait and when to go high tide vs low tide?
We use fresh cut mullet. Go at low tide to check out the beach and the sand bars cause it's always changing. We fish all day but 3 hours before low and high seem to be good but you never know sometimes we catch them all day. Thanks for watching. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Didn't know there were stripers in Wilbur. We have caught some nice trout there.
Striper aren’t below wilbur
Great job! Enjoy y’all’s videos

Why would you take the tag out of the shark you moron's !
With That type of tag in order to get the rolled up paper inside of it out with all the info on it you have to push the tag line like a plunger to push the paper out and when you do that it breaks the water tight seal of the tag. That's why we removed it.
@@subasurfcasters you're not supposed to cut or take of any tags on any wild animals!

@@subasurfcasters thank you 🙏
Thank you I just ran into this problem with my garmin this helped out a lot I went ahead and made the same thing but I did a little bit different I drilled four holes in the PVC pipe to allow my transducer only to be on the PVC pipe to keep it from expanding when I secured the PVC to the trolling motor
Glad it helped you out and thanks for watching
Well done think outside of the box👍👍
Thanks
Can you let us know how it worked? Have the exact same situation -
It works great don't even know it's there. The transducer reads perfect. I was skeptical about cutting off the skeg. Since it would have to be cut flush with the motor housing. The housing and skeg are kind of like a die cast metal piece and didn't want there to be a empty cavity there where it would be cut and the motor leak so I came up with this mount. Hope it helps you out. If you have any more questions just let me know and thanks for watching.
@@subasurfcasters have you had a problem with the pvc slipping around the motor when you tighten it down? Father in law was using it Saturday and it was working well until it didn’t- repaired it and it was ok again until he hit my dock backing out and broke it off…. Going to try adding a transducer shield saver
@@travisconley4636 No problems with it slipping. The slot that you cut in the bottom for the skeg to fit in keeps that from happening. Hate to here that he broke it on the dock.
