4:38 Another thing i noticed, but I couldn't stop thinking how the whole scene is framed in a way that almost reminds me of a pregnant woman diving birth. Idk if its intentional but is GENIOUS
Also, as some other people have said, Falin always had a sensibility to ghosts and spirits, ever since she was a child (I think that's even more clear considering Laios doesn't freak out, it's a thing only his sister can do and she has done it before, just another day for him) It's why she tries/is able to resolve battles with them in a more peaceful way, hell, even at that moment, another cleric might've still detected the ghost of the child but would try to exorcise them instead of just asking to stay I think she understands that the ghosts don't want to haunt people, they just want to rest

1:57 HEY THAT’S ME!!! :D I honestly thought they would leave this season right when Falin gets taken and separated from the group and all fall into a hole. But I guess they either don’t have the green light for a next season yet or it was to give the viewer a moment to collect themselves before jumping in the next big problem. And it’s sad they cut those bits of world building, those are some of the best parts of this manga!
Its like everyone is dancing around the issue of "What could the next few episode POSSIBLY be about other then them merry making their way back home?!" Lol

I’ve known about dungeon meshi for a bit before the show was announced but never had a chance to read it. But with the show , the interment being what it is , and this series I feel the need to track down the manga volumes and own them personally and not just read them online. Good job and I can’t wait for more
I am so utterly baffled at the fact that this channel is roughly a year and a half old when this editing is PHENOMENAL. ON TOP OF THE BREAKDOWNS. You good sir, have another subscriber :}
Great video! One thing though, the image you’re bringing up at 2:40 (and earlier in the intro) is not the actual manga panel. That is a fanmade redraw of the panel that has been commonly confused for the real thing. If you compare Marcille’s face in the panel in the video to the actual manga’s panel, you will see the difference. I don’t think using the redraw detracts from the point you were making, but I felt compelled to let you know.
4:17 the effects department didn't give this keyframe justice, just like how How to Train your Dragon animator seemed to be in a big petty relationship with CG

Absolutely love this channel I haven’t found someone who breaks down animation frame by frame and it’s incredibly fascinating thank you I hope you continue to make videos :3
I’ve said this everywhere but I really felt like that they significantly reduced how blood soaked and uncharacteristically unhygienic marcille appeared to be in the the resurrection scene, especially with the very important shot cut and the blood rendering being toned down. just in general i didn’t super love how blood is rendered here, the 10% red overlay felt pretty odd comparing to a solid red cross hatch render they did for laios sometimes. however it’s still such a good episode!! loved that now anime onlys can understand how insane marcille is now. ^_^ what good friends!
A bit of a nitpick, but the frame of Marcille letting down her hair isn't an actual panel. It's a redraw by some artist on twitter. I dont remember their name, sadly
The animation team was amazing, they created so many beautiful scenes with just a few panels. Can’t wait to see how the winged lion is animated and the finale.
Something that i liked about the resurrection scene is that the hole they dug into the dragon looks kind of vaginal. To me it really drives home the aspect of rebirth thats happening, making it look both more and less natural
5:38 I also really like how marcille's face shape echoing the shape of her face during the undine fight in ep 8 shows her under extreme strain in both scenarios, with that perhaps incidental consistency we have the impression that's Just How She Looks while giving immense effort under immense pressure. it's neat!
I'm gonna be honest..... I used to read the manga when it was available on those scanlation sites. This was one of the last chapters I was able to read before they took the site down. But man.... when the hair comes down... ya'll know she means business.
Removal of the taking hair down shot is honestly the worst adaptation decision in the show so far. The resurrection itself was super good! But spending a fews seconds on a shot of bedraggled Marcille with bloody hands letting down her hair would have made the thing sing a little more.
THEY WERE ROOMMATES. Who sleep in the same bed, take baths together, wrestle naked, and write erotic poetry to one another. You know. Like Roommates do.
Another detail that deserves mentioning is the extreme close-up of Falin biting into dragon meat like a beast, and how it contrasts to everyone's memory of her being a sweet, angelic, girly-girl.
I just think it's too bad they kinda "beautified" Marcille during the leadup to the resurrection and bath scene. In the manga her eye bags and exhaustion are obvious, the mental toll the events have taken reflected in her face, but in the anime she doesn't have that same worn-out look to her.
It was the scene where Marcille was doing the ritual when I realized that hair does play an important part in magic in this universe. I know they said it, but it truly showed me why.
Man i love Falin and Marcille, theyre such Close Friends™! It echoes such a casual closeness between these two Gal Pals™ that theyre so comfortable with each other to even bathe together! One might even say that theyd be great Roommates™!
I like how they enjoy the moment with Falin right after that, tossing away the fact that they had just revived her with bones and other things coming from dungeon creatures. Absolutely relateable UvU And funny, too 😆
Someone pointed out to me about the cut shot of Marcille letting her hair down that she's also putting blood from her hands into her hair. Most of her magic requires her hair to be lean and tidy, because the people who wrote the magic were clean and tidy, writing for clean and tidy people. This magic was written by people coated in blood, so it's only right that Marcille coats her hair in that same blood as she's working the ancient magic. Also: The braided updo reminds me a lot of her mother's hair. And given that Marcille has taken to wearing a choker like her mother in adulthood, it wouldn't surprise me if she put it up like that in part as a kind of... idk. Emotional support hairstyle? Maturity boost? And her letting her hair down is stepping away from how her mother looks, and more into how she herself is, and then a step beyond. (Marcille's hair is always worn long but it's never been _loose_ before.) Finally: The unplacable dread is the feeling of "They did the thing they set out to do. In episode 12. Of this 24 episode season. How. How is this going to go horribly wrong. What are they going to do with the other _half_ of the season???"
Ngl, this might be me overanalyzing but in the sub, Farlyn said she doesn't remember what she did so that might be how she doesn't remember the time she died. She has a large amount of mana, tries to give some to Marcille and did that spell and she probably wouldn't have that mana if she had been just reborn/revived, the sword reacted to her and her left eye when she woke up being the same eye that was damaged from the dragon. The way Marcille and Liaos ignore the mana thing, sword reacting to her and how she straight up says she don't remember makes me think how they kinda just tired from their long journey trying to get here, enough to make mistakes like this that seem small but kinda make sense when they are connected to the dragon.
I also agree it's such a shame they left out the scene of Marcille letting her hair down. It also seemed like an important detail, because earlier on, it was such a big deal that Senshi clean his beard in order for the water walking spell to take properly, and yet here Marcille is, running gore-soaked hands through her own hair. She dirties her own hair as she prepares to cast a dirty spell, a stain that may not wash out.
Well dangit, I'm a fool.

Thank you for your weekly Dungeon Meshi videos! You're the first youtuber analyzing anime frame by frame that I've seen, and I can't help but appreciate your work. Keep up the good work!!!
Was expecting a typical memey anituber review of this episode, but you really surprised me with all your detailed technical observations and meticulous editing explaining the manga parallels, animation and even sound! Amazing work.

Another thing i noticed, but I couldn't stop thinking how the whole scene is framed in a way that almost reminds me of a pregnant woman diving birth. Idk if its intentional but is GENIOUS
yes very true
Also, as some other people have said, Falin always had a sensibility to ghosts and spirits, ever since she was a child (I think that's even more clear considering Laios doesn't freak out, it's a thing only his sister can do and she has done it before, just another day for him)
It's why she tries/is able to resolve battles with them in a more peaceful way, hell, even at that moment, another cleric might've still detected the ghost of the child but would try to exorcise them instead of just asking to stay
I think she understands that the ghosts don't want to haunt people, they just want to rest
04:50 to those who didn’t worked in an animation industry that castle is made by Layout department artist for perspective BG that animators will follow and clean up artist to correct it’s shapes for the final cut checked by directors. Bg rough sketch doesn’t always represent the final image it’s meant as the reference on the actual Instance Model from the model sheets clients and producers provide so Clean up artist won’t go off model.
1:57 HEY THAT’S ME!!! :D
I honestly thought they would leave this season right when Falin gets taken and separated from the group and all fall into a hole.
But I guess they either don’t have the green light for a next season yet or it was to give the viewer a moment to collect themselves before jumping in the next big problem.
And it’s sad they cut those bits of world building, those are some of the best parts of this manga!
WAIT FALIN'S GONNA GET SEPERATED AGAIN BRUH T-T ??
Always looking forward to your analysis videos! This was a great episode
2:46 is actually a panel redrawn by a fanartist. you can see their signature next to marcilles legs :)
My bad! Added a pinned comment to clarify.
these breakdowns are so fun! i love the comparisons to the manga!!
Its like everyone is dancing around the issue of "What could the next few episode POSSIBLY be about other then them merry making their way back home?!" Lol
I love these videos, I look forward to them every week
ah!! im so happy you’re getting the recognition you deserve! i love all your breakdowns :)
This is the most straight friendship in anime, I’ll never understand. There has been 0 romantic inclinations between these two…
The moment I saw the resurrection scene I immediately think "I bet Swamp Jawn has a lot to say about this on Monday." and I was right! Your breakdowns are great as always.
i love the way you pick out different animator's styles and it's really making me appreciate seeing the moments in the anime where everybody looks a little different as being connected with someone specific being at the helm and it's their vision of the story. thanks for sharing these insights that make the act of consuming this delicious meal all the tastier and more nutritious
I love your breakdowns!

I’ve known about dungeon meshi for a bit before the show was announced but never had a chance to read it. But with the show , the interment being what it is , and this series I feel the need to track down the manga volumes and own them personally and not just read them online. Good job and I can’t wait for more
The lil fisticuffs made me think kensuke has cute pet plot armor and would stick around
I am so utterly baffled at the fact that this channel is roughly a year and a half old when this editing is PHENOMENAL. ON TOP OF THE BREAKDOWNS. You good sir, have another subscriber :}
Swamp Jawn most based youtuber of all time
Great video! I don’t think using the redraw detracts from the point you were making, but I felt compelled to let you know.
ah thank you, i felt like i was going crazy!! i knew something didn't look right about that one!
Oh boy! I can't wait until they get out of the dungeon in the next episode!
Whenever Chilchuk speaks in the English dub, my brain says "get in the robot, Shinji"
The dragon tail part makes sense even with with no context.
Its a dragon, clad in armores scales, ofc it'd sell well.
4:17 the effects department didn't give this keyframe justice, just like how How to Train your Dragon animator seemed to be in a big petty relationship with CG
Holy shit their roomates
😂
they're
"They just sleep in the same bed, half naked, and drift off to sleep every night while gazing into each others eyes and blushing...
Like bros!😤"
"Oh my God they were roomates"
@@LoveHammerMan I mean, who doesn't? I bet they also have piles of erotic letters they write to each other complimenting their various parts. I send that to all my best bros as a way to boost their confidence.
thank you for these videos!!! i recently finished reading the manga and i enjoy seeing the differences between it and the anime, it feeds my brainrot over this series lol
Absolutely love this channel I haven’t found someone who breaks down animation frame by frame and it’s incredibly fascinating thank you I hope you continue to make videos :3
Your backing music choices are incredible.
Lmao I enjoyed the video, especially your voice and the armadillo. Subbed
Ho-oly this breakdown went viral haha
Thanks for the breakdowns, I hope to finish them tomorrow ^^
Just discovered this series. Could have sworn it felt like a series with at least 20k views
A bit of a nitpick, but the frame of Marcille letting down her hair isn't an actual panel. It's a redraw by some artist on twitter. I dont remember their name, sadly
I actually think that is very relevant and not so much of a nitpick...
My bad, I didn't realize in my haste to finish editing! Added a pinned comment to clarify. Thanks to you and everyone who pointed this out.
The animation team was amazing, they created so many beautiful scenes with just a few panels. Can’t wait to see how the winged lion is animated and the finale.
the fact that you can break down the animators from their style is nuts. fascinating video
"keep your feet and hands in the video at all times"
*My adhd ass* "I wont, but not from whatever you are implying"
Something that i liked about the resurrection scene is that the hole they dug into the dragon looks kind of vaginal. To me it really drives home the aspect of rebirth thats happening, making it look both more and less natural
And they were roommates…
5:38 I also really like how marcille's face shape echoing the shape of her face during the undine fight in ep 8 shows her under extreme strain in both scenarios, with that perhaps incidental consistency we have the impression that's Just How She Looks while giving immense effort under immense pressure. it's neat!
the best part of the week ❤️
I really like this story of frieren and his party before they defeat the demon king and before the beyond journeys end
I love your videos so much!

Waiter! Waiter! More yuri please!

Nah

THEY WERE ROOMMATES. Who sleep in the same bed, take baths together, wrestle naked, and write erotic poetry to one another. You know. Like Roommates do.
Another detail that deserves mentioning is the extreme close-up of Falin biting into dragon meat like a beast, and how it contrasts to everyone's memory of her being a sweet, angelic, girly-girl.
Marcille hair has it own power!
banger as always
They don’t need an ingredient list bc we’ve all seen FMAB
I’m a little disappointed that we didn’t see any dragon meat move towards the skeleton and liquify before joining with the body.
I love dungeon meshi so much I'm really excited of what's to come
Nobody's gonna mention the massive foreshadowing that is Kensuke running away from Falin?
😉
How long until we get Senshi trying to explain the birds and the bees to Chillchuck
Spoiler alert!
chilchuck is married and has kids

Man i love Falin and Marcille, theyre such Close Friends™! It echoes such a casual closeness between these two Gal Pals™ that theyre so comfortable with each other to even bathe together! One might even say that theyd be great Roommates™!
D w a r f T a i n t
I like how they enjoy the moment with Falin right after that, tossing away the fact that they had just revived her with bones and other things coming from dungeon creatures. Absolutely relateable UvU
And funny, too 😆
Someone pointed out to me about the cut shot of Marcille letting her hair down that she's also putting blood from her hands into her hair.
(Marcille's hair is always worn long but it's never been _loose_ before.)
Finally: The unplacable dread is the feeling of "They did the thing they set out to do. In episode 12. Of this 24 episode season. How. How is this going to go horribly wrong. What are they going to do with the other _half_ of the season???"
It bothers me how nothing was talked about when it came to laios hugging falin like that shit struck me hard
2:25 changing your hairstyle. Every episode is a nice touch.
Now I get why it is called Delicious in Dungeon 👀👀
9:47 I love Kensuke so much. My boi was READY to throw hands!
My hands and feets were in the video, but my head stuck out!
Good friends code for more than friends and you know

Oh man, just you wait for the last few episodes of s2
@@zanthe_ I know 🐰🐰☠️
I also agree it's such a shame they left out the scene of Marcille letting her hair down.
