The difficulty in the tone-discussion boils down to it being difficult to sell to a friend as a concept of humor+worldbuilding+friend dynamics+drama+horror. Something like Frieren is easy, it's slowburn emotional drama. Dungeon Meshi is so much more, and that is what makes it, well, so MUCH more than shows like Frieren. As each element of it begins being developed more and more they work together better and better until you reach a perfect balance of humor+drama+horror and all the other amazing ingredients of this hot pot.
For me with the Sensi flashback episodes one thing that got me was how real senshi's expressions and actions were when they go to eat the griffin. Its that level of horror of "once I finally eat this I might know the truth" that made that episode so tense for me cuz you can understand (maybe not to his extent) that level of horrible fascination. The possibility of answering that question is right there, but once you have the answer, any part of you that can hope for the answer you'd prefer is gone. I loved that whole section
season two is officially in production! i heard the author would only let the series be adapted if the studio agreed to adapt the entire thing, so netflix jail was never an option.
Finally, someone who mentions Dungeon Meshi's fantastic character writing. The worldbuilding and ecosystem are great no doubt about that, but what I appreciate about Dungeon Meshi is how a seemingly one-note characters are unveiled to have so much more depth than people realize, done so with meticulous subtle writing.
One thing I like about Laos and his sister is that you can see that they both have the same weirdness, it's just that people don't notice it as much with her. Which is legitimately something that happens in real life with people on the autism spectrum.
hmm. Dungeon meshi grabbed me when marcille hit that mushroom with her staff. It's rare to see physical comedy done well in anime like this. Only the best ones care to do it.
Ah sorry would you believe this was the best of three reads? I made a lot of mix ups. I think the point gets across but there’s a fair bit of mispronunciation and misspeaking I’m doing better each time, it’s a process
If you like bg, dnd, Diablo and such you'll love dungeon meshi… I disagree with the pacing at least for s1 it's fast but not in a bad way it's like adhad heaven imo it progresses at the right speed without losing context or depth
8:08 Irrelevant to here, but apparently dwarf feet are shaped differently than tall-men's! Like you hit them with a frying pan - shorter and steeper. I never noticed that before.
The show is pretty amazing, but the growing fandom around placing mental illnesses or ASD because of certain habits or character traits just makes me feel sad. As with anything in terms of how characters are presented or represented, the author's word is law if they are not being coerced. Keep in mind Netflix and Crunchyroll uses westerners for localization efforts so it may be possible they are flavoring the anime with political seasoning that the "localizers" prefer rather than what the author of the manga imagined.

This is a great way to describe it and I 100% agree!

Hope this gets fully adapted and not Netflix jail, it deserves it. Apothocary was the GOAT last year but Dungeon rocked too
There's a Season 2
@@MartyKranesnot yet but it does have a trailer

@@sophiescott143 sorry, I couldn’t resist.
Really liked this video. Nice work leaning into the cooking metaphor. The final line brought it all together well

I like the idea of multiple crews working the megadungeon.
i like this 20 minutes format better, well done man
Thanks! I appreciate that. My I prefer em longer, feel I can get my point across better, it’s just a lot to do editing and balancing with my day job
Seshi is the ultimate "LET HIM COOK" guy
ITS MAR CELL
It’s mar sil
It's Mar sil
Senshi flashback killed me!
It's a slow cook but like a stew it is deeply satisfying
Dwarf, not elf. 6:42
6:29 "elf"
Bruh.
The fan service here is P E R F E C T
Laios=ly-os, not Laos
Marcille=mar-seel, not mar-see-ley
