Even if you don't ship Falin and Marcille, I genuinely think you weren't paying attention if you actually thought Falin ever returned Shuro's feelings. It's a bit more obvious in the manga, but her thinking about possibly marrying him was because she has a very strong aversion to disappointing people, and she was worried that rejecting him would mean they couldn't be friends anymore. Shuro's crush on Falin is 100% one-sided, a big thing that shows this is simply the scene where Falin eats with the party for the first time, and we are shown that Falin and Laios are more similar than they are different, and all of the things Shuro hates about Laios are also equally true about Falin, which is why I strongly believe that Shuro never actually had a full conversation with Falin before he decided that she was the one he wanted to marry, and also he never took the time to understand Laios, because all of the things he loves about Falin are also equally true about Laios.
Trust me, I definitely think Shuro’s love for Falin is unrequited-I probably should’ve made it clearer in the video… But also yes if I were to ship Falin with anyone, it would easily be Marcille, though in general I think Falin might want to spend all day with animals rather than relationships but I mean that in a silly way if that makes sense. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
You know. I noticed that Marcille and Falin like each other. Especially Marcille when she talk about her when they go to rescue her. She always blushing and smilling. Falin also was blushing when Marcille hug her. About Shuro I don't think she would fit in their relation. Mostly, because of their culture, how they treated Izutsumi, and the fact that Shuro is harsh to others and he didn't care about the party when he go to rescue her and hates eating monsters where Falin love it. Also the fact to decided to leave Laios party and he decided to go with his party to be a hero. It's was just horrible thing to do.
@@WilczycaCzarownica now i don't think shuro is horrible, they both have different culture and upbringing, and neither have the capacity to connect with the other, they're simply not made for each other
I think it's really interesting to compare izutsumi and falin because they are often on opposite sides in their character traits. Falin has always been this kind of driven person who doesnt hold grudges, but she's infatilized because of it. So she learns to stand up for herself more, while Izutsumi learns to be softer because her guard was up all the time. But that doesn't mean Falin is any less kind after her transformation. While we will see more exemples in season 2, even as a murderous dragon Falin is still a kind and caring person. It's more that she breaks free from other people's expectations of her with the dragon's soul, which is really touching. Also I agree with you, Laios is an incredible sibling, and so os Falin. They care about each other deeply and they're learning to be more idenpendant from each other in this story despite being each other's comfort zone for a long time. And to do that, they must also let go of the guilt they feel for not being able to help or save the other all the time. I really love their character arcs.
I also think Falin becoming a chimera and being once again isolated is an analogy to the neurodivergent experience in life. You just feel constantly judged and lowkey a monster because people actively avoid or feel unease around you. That said i loved your analys so much especially how you talk about these characters with so much respect like they are real people

To paraphrase someone else: Most of Izutsumi's quirks can be better explained by her being a teenager than by being a cat. :D Some notes on an otherwise great video: - the weird things getting added comment was likely about her body hair. When the party makes dumplings, Izutsumi's are hairy. While animal hair is a valid hygiene concern, you hit the observation that it shows her being not accepted. - Not a spoiler because it probably won't get explained: All of the ninja/shinobi have code names which are flower themed. The only hint we get is that Inutade stumbles over her name since her real name is Tade. It's likely to protect their identities in the field, but it's also another thing Izutsumi had no control over. And lastly, I don't think Marcille cries because she was curious about Falin. I think it's clear they spent a lot of time together at mage school and they got used to each other. Rather I believe Marcille didn't realize how lonely Falin was. Afterall, whenever she saw Falin, Falin had a friend nearby - Marcille herself. But she would probably assume that Falin had other friends when she wasn't around, not realizing that she was her best friend easing the loneliness.
Thanks for the info-really!! I never made the connection about Izutsumi’s fur getting in the food, or the fact that the shinobi were flower themed (although I probably should’ve since I was reading something that had asebi in it). Awesome video! Another thing i think should be added is that in both the show and manga it is VERY heavily implied that both Touden siblings are autistic. I think that really adds to the feelings of isolation Falin and Laios would experience growing up. I appreciate Falin and Laios having such a strong sibling bond. Too many shows, anime or not, portray weird or strained relationships as the norm. But you said it perfectly, Laios understands her suffering the best. It makes sense that their bond is such an important part of the show.
Oh! Thank you for NOT putting this out when everyone else was doing it. Cus now the algorithm can send me a nugget of goodness to help tide me over til season 2.
Izatsumi is like any other cat I've met: fiercely independent, horrible roommate, kind of a jerk, but very deadly. Yup, that's just a cat. But this one speaks your language. Honestly, the way the other characters act around her is what I would do with any cat! Respect boundaries, provide goodies, compromising, watching out for the claws, knowing the sweet spot to their hearts. Falin must have known about this, which makes her monsterous form all the more tragic!
I wouldn't exactly call izutsumi kind, per se, but she is... softening? To me its her whole thing of doing things she doesnt like in order to get things she does like. She clearly didnt want to comfort marcille, but perhaps she felt like she ought to maybe? Well that sounds very sad when i put it that way... She seems to trust that putting her effort into maintaining these relationships will be good for her? Which is sweet in a way. This is definitely no hate to izutsumi, in case it comes across that way. She is one of my favourites in a cast FULL of incredible characters ^_^ These two characters are very interesting to compare, but as a manga reader i dont trust myself to go into it without spoilers lol ^_^ i cant wait for you to see season 2
I like that perspective, but also I guess I’m a really optimistic guy who sees the best in everyone even if it might not be there lol, but yeah I get what you mean-and I’m glad to see a fellow Izutsumi fan I can’t wait to watch season 2 too, but thank you for watching and commenting!!
The self serving nature of cats comes through for sure, but she also feels safe enough to extend empathy. And that is a terrifying thing to do if you’re used to only dismissal and aloofness. She sees someone else hurting and wants to stop that hurt for them. That’s so huge. Even if it does include her consciously weighing her actions against self serving interests. Just that she’s trying is big.
There's a plot twist in the epilogue that not only changes everything you thought you knew about the cat, but also just completely makes sense why she's like that. Also her entire arc about wanting freedom ended up really reminding me of myself, especially the end of it.
Love the video! the outro signature frightened me as a first time visitor to this account, as someone who also has S. S. initials you may want to change it to look less like lightning bolts or stay away from ss without any punctuation in general as it can look like a dog whistle, peace and prosperity to you.
1:35 This isnt technically a spoiler since its not directly revealed in the manga so it wont be mentioned in the anime either, but its confirmed through an omake/extra chapter by the author, but just in case you dont want to know then beware of a spoiler ahead That being said, her being so 'cat-like' is very justified, as its revealed that shes actually a *cat possessed by a human child's soul*, rather than the other way around like even she herself thinks (she believes shes a human possesed by a beast/cat soul), in other words, shes more like a cat who became part-human rather than a human who became part-cat, its a detail that makes alot of sense for her character and when you rewatch the series, the human soul possessing her becomes supressed when she enters the golden kingdom for example
I like the analysis, I love these 2 characters and the anime as a whole, I always found (most) characters are either likable, interesting or relatable (sometimes both or all)
I can relate to all of the characters, in the party, in Delicious in Dungeon. Growing up with very little friends does make you feel like an outsider, especially when people don't try to tolerate you when you be who you are.
Dude i would 100% reccomend the manga ... the ending had me talking about it for weeks and the artstyle is just so fun (the itzutsumi drawings are always hilarious) but yeah.. im thinking of rereading soon its so good
I love your analysis! Thanks for sharing your thoughts I’m also waiting for the second season or waiting for the manga to be translated, as I don’t like to read online. But it’s hard to get these videos spoiler free
Suffering doesn't exactly bring about kindness, it presents the character with a chance to relate to other people or reject them. If they relate they may become kind. I only say this because in the anime community its popular to think like your title.
Fun fact: itzutsumi was awaiting her day view senses the beginning. In the one shot itzutsumi personality was kinda like marcille soo I can see why she closes to marcille
Great video and nice analyses of both Falin and Izutsumi, however I just wanna add clearer context for the jp dub of the show for the Izutsumi and Senshi scene: Because I was curious about the translation differences between the Japanese and the English dub which this video used, I just rewatched the scene in jp. It is Izutsumi who speaks to Senshi, but she also doesn't comfort him in the original jp dub. She says "それって。。。” which basically translates as "Then...", or "That means..." So not necessarily comforting him, the English dub did take some liberty it seems. Just wanted to clear that up for you and in case someone else also watched the jp dub like me is confused.
I'm so sorry to inform you: The one consoling Senshi first, IS MARCILLE, NOT IZUTSUMI. In the og japanese dialogue, the voice we hear, is Marcille's, not hers. [ Edit: a reply pointed out it was izutsumi, so i was wrong in my assumption, thanks!! I'm always happy to be corrected! Yet, my next point still stands(bc of the difference in dialogue), which is… ] She's not that close to the party yet. A better example of her opening up would be the train scene at the end chapter, when Marcille cries, and she choses not to back away, but hug her back.
You're mistaken. Because I was curious about the translation differences between the Japanese and the English dub which this video used, I just rewatched the scene in jp. It is Izutsumi who speaks to Senshi, but she also doesn't comfort him in the original jp dub. She says "それって。。。” which basically translates as "Then...", or "That means..."
@@brooke6492 if that's true, it only means she wasn't being as close to him as the video pointed out. I will edit my comment but that part will remain unchanged lmao
....You kanna.... underestimate every other charactor who care falin too much at this..;; make every move as laious's good turm while it actually is not. (Plz remember marcil. And stop changing story with your taste. While reviewing.) You know he is the one left the house while make her alone. Not the otherway around. He is good brother i know. And he feel guilty bc he is the one left. (That's why he is good brother.) but that dosent mean she only have him. And it is not him being a good brother by left her alone.. And in reality. In Actual reality. He only have her. He dosent have anyone around at that point. He hate his family, dosent fit in military, got scamed among ppl while working. when he has chance to say hello and see you next time to falin face to face. she cant leave him alone. She give up her magic school and join him on adventure. Its more likely she being caring sister for him. Or being adventure lover like they always dose. She is genurally thoughtful caring person when its come to her family and friends. (I think laious has same energe. With his kanna weird funny mood in it.) they are genually accept each other the best. Being werido among world. They are good sibling. But somhow you keep make it sound like... She only have him and him being good brother.. Plz give up on that.
Suffering does not give Izutsumi a reason to be cruel to everyone, like I hate Izutsumi so much and when I mean hate I mean hate with a passion. I can proudly say that I hate Izutsumi more than Shou tucker from FMAB with zero remorse, say what you want about the guy but at least he wasn't in the story much and got his karma in the end but Izutsumi on the other hand... Let me list 10 reasons why I hate this stupid cat girl so much, 10: Shes uglier then a stray ally cat. 9: Shes a total b*tch. 8: She makes Shou Tucker and Yushiro look like decent human beings. 7: Excuse her all you want but She has no reason to be so mean to everyone when all they they do is try to be nice to her even after how awful shes been 6: Her *jokes* are Insufferable!!! like it's the same thing over and over again, someone breathes and she claws their face and shows no remorse. These *jokes* are not only unfunny there just really mean. 5: The story tries SO hard to make it seem justified for Izutsumi to be cruel which just sucks so hard because it feels like a slap to the face. 4: The party didn't even let her join the party Izutsumi forces them to let her join and blackmails them by saying she'll kill Marcle if they don't. 3: She does nothing but be mean and rude to everyone in Laios party and doesn't get any type of karma and is just overall a really bad person. 2: Unlike other anime characters I hate such as Shou Tucker= FMAB, Yushiro= Demon Slayer, and George= SXF who both are awful to have on screen but aren't in the series much due to the plot not having them in the story much, Izutsumi on the other hand Oh no shes not just a one off character who we never see again oh no no no no, she officially becomes one of the main characters who sticks in the story until the end from what I've seen from spoilers meaning we have to deal with Izutsumis B.S for the entire rest of the story which is why I had to drop the anime because I just cant deal with it. And the number 1: reason why I hate Izutsumi is the more I think about it, the more I think of how hateable, cruel, mean spirited Izutsumi is the more I realize how POINTLESS SHE IS IN THE STORY!!!!!! like let me tell you what Izutsumi actelly does not only in the party but also in the plot as a whole aside from being a b*tch. After she forceally joins the party she discovers that she needs to eat monsters to survive which is a problem because Izutsumi is a picky eater, Ring any bells? Well when they get to the frozen floor and have to fight a monster Izutsumi just does some lame tricks then beats it. After being done with the battle and its time to eat the monster Izutsumi whines and complains because she doesn't want to eat monsters, now does that remind you of anyone? Wait just a minute, THAT'S MARCILES JOB!!!!!! why do we need Izutsumi to complain about eating monsters when we already have Marcile in the role to be the stick in the mud in the party!?!? Is it because Izutsumi has cat ears and a tale and the author thought it would be funny if Izutsumi would do things that Marcile isn't mean enough to do?!?! and if you say "Well shes strong and can fight big monsters" well let me remind you We HAVE MARCILE AND LAIOS TO DO THAT! Laios with his sword and Stragth and Marcile with her magic, so anything Izutsumi does can already be done better by the characters who actually matter to the plot!
I hate to say this but…. I think this character is reflecting some things that make you hate YOURSELF or things that have been used against you to make you feel shame. And her choices and overall personality rub you the wrong way because of some internalized biases. I am no armchair psychologist so please don’t take this to heart, just something I’ve noticed in myself that I find others also experience. Izutsumi doesn’t fit feminine role models, and is selfish as a cat in human form. It’s a lot to handle because it pushes against every social interaction norm and rule. And that might be something to think on.
@@OctopusOwl well It’s not fully the case but I appreciate you trying to understand me from what I’ve said and the reason I hate Izutsumi is because overall she’s just not a good person.
I hate Izutsumi so much like she’s one of the worst anime characters of all time and I just wish she was never Added to the story because she is completely pointless and cruel.

Didn't expect much from the video but it greatly exceeded my expectations
I wouldn't exactly call izutsumi kind, per se, but she is... softening? To me its her whole thing of doing things she doesnt like in order to get things she does like. She clearly didnt want to comfort marcille, but perhaps she felt like she ought to maybe? Well that sounds very sad when i put it that way... She seems to trust that putting her effort into maintaining these relationships will be good for her? Which is sweet in a way.
This is definitely no hate to izutsumi, in case it comes across that way. She is one of my favourites in a cast FULL of incredible characters ^_^
These two characters are very interesting to compare, but as a manga reader i dont trust myself to go into it without spoilers lol ^_^ i cant wait for you to see season 2
I like that perspective, but also I guess I’m a really optimistic guy who sees the best in everyone even if it might not be there lol, but yeah I get what you mean-and I’m glad to see a fellow Izutsumi fan
I can’t wait to watch season 2 too, but thank you for watching and commenting!!
She's a cat through and through
The self serving nature of cats comes through for sure, but she also feels safe enough to extend empathy.
S. initials you may want to change it to look less like lightning bolts or stay away from ss without any punctuation in general as it can look like a dog whistle, peace and prosperity to you.
definitely read the manga if you have the time/motivation to! the story is so amazing, I really can't wait to see it all animated
I LOVE THIS SO ,UCH THANK YOU FOR FEEDING MY DUNGEON MESHI ADDICTION
OF COURSE!!! THANK YOU FOR WATCHING!!
This was a really cool video! I like the way you analized all the details
This Dungeon Meshi fan found you 😁
YAAAY

This isnt technically a spoiler since its not directly revealed in the manga so it wont be mentioned in the anime either, but its confirmed through an omake/extra chapter by the author, but just in case you dont want to know then beware of a spoiler ahead
That being said, her being so 'cat-like' is very justified, as its revealed that shes actually a *cat possessed by a human child's soul*, rather than the other way around like even she herself thinks (she believes shes a human possesed by a beast/cat soul), in other words, shes more like a cat who became part-human rather than a human who became part-cat, its a detail that makes alot of sense for her character and when you rewatch the series, the human soul possessing her becomes supressed when she enters the golden kingdom for example
"Would the strategy of eating all of her lower half even work?"
Idk, but I'd be more than happy to try
I like the analysis, I love these 2 characters and the anime as a whole, I always found (most) characters are either likable, interesting or relatable (sometimes both or all)
This is such a cute vid.
Thank you!
I can relate to all of the characters, in the party, in Delicious in Dungeon. Growing up with very little friends does make you feel like an outsider, especially when people don't try to tolerate you when you be who you are.
Izutsumi video dropped, I'm so happy
incredible video, please continue to make more! ❤❤
When the ending gets animated, you will absolutely love it cause theres more falin and izutsumi stuff hehe
It's the first time I hear english dub and Izuzumi sounds awesome!
Yess I love her voice so much it makes me so happy. Her English voice actress did amazing
dangon mashi (silli voice)
Finnaly hart
Dude i would 100% reccomend the manga ... the ending had me talking about it for weeks and the artstyle is just so fun (the itzutsumi drawings are always hilarious) but yeah.. im thinking of rereading soon its so good
I love your analysis! Thanks for sharing your thoughts
I’m also waiting for the second season or waiting for the manga to be translated, as I don’t like to read online. But it’s hard to get these videos spoiler free
Amazing video!
1:30 he got invited to the diddy party
Izutsumi is my favorite character
Suffering doesn't exactly bring about kindness, it presents the character with a chance to relate to other people or reject them. If they relate they may become kind. I only say this because in the anime community its popular to think like your title.
Fun fact: itzutsumi was awaiting her day view senses the beginning. In the one shot itzutsumi personality was kinda like marcille soo I can see why she closes to marcille
Beautiful video brother! God bless ya and Jesus loves ya!
I heard that Falin and Laios are 2 of the 3 autistic characters in the show and that she went under the radar because she was a girl.
Nice
I'm so sorry to inform you:
The one consoling Senshi first, IS MARCILLE, NOT IZUTSUMI.
In the og japanese dialogue, the voice we hear, is Marcille's, not hers.
[ Edit: a reply pointed out it was izutsumi, so i was wrong in my assumption, thanks!! I'm always happy to be corrected!
Yet, my next point still stands(bc of the difference in dialogue), which is… ]
She's not that close to the party yet.
I will edit my comment but that part will remain unchanged lmao
goat posted
WATCH THE SHOW IT’S SO GOOD
Laura Stahl is such a good pick for izutsumi
Spoiler alert, Izutsumi is more of a girl cat than a cat girl. She's a cat that turned into a girl. Not a girl with cat features
I love her. I adore her. But also every time I see her, I can't unthink the 'AT LEAST LET ME SEE HOW MANY NIPPLES SHE HAS' scene...
WHEN IS THE NEW EPISODE 😡
Hello serpent sir I am new sub and fan of your channel. Could you do again vids for the spider -verse?
Pick up the manga
The manga is so good and only makes me MORE excited for the anime.
Brown Karen Martinez Mary Thompson Betty
bro just come out and say you're a furry we don't judge no more
Rodriguez Anthony Taylor Mary Perez Karen
Falin = lesbian. Marcille = lesbian
....You kanna.... underestimate every other charactor who care falin too much at this..;; make every move as laious's good turm while it actually is not.
(Plz remember marcil. And stop changing story with your taste. While reviewing.)
You know he is the one left the house while make her alone. Not the otherway around. He is good brother i know. And he feel guilty bc he is the one left. (That's why he is good brother.)
but that dosent mean she only have him.
With his kanna weird funny mood in it.)
they are genually accept each other the best. Being werido among world. They are good sibling. But somhow you keep make it sound like... She only have him and him being good brother.. Plz give up on that.
Please just make another spider verse video
First
Suffering does not give Izutsumi a reason to be cruel to everyone, like I hate Izutsumi so much and when I mean hate I mean hate with a passion.
Cool Video :)
