To address some of your complaints if shirou used rule breaker on artoria alter he would have died on the spot after saving Sakura because if you remember after he used rho aias he had 2 projections left. One to save Sakura and the last one to destroy the grail which he was about to do but illya saved him Shirou couldn't project excalibur because he never saw it in unlimited blade works and projecting Avalon 1 doesn't make him invincible he can very much die it just heals him 2 why would he project it if he already has it inside him. Shirou copied archer because one that's one of the few weapons he did see early on and he has a natural affinity towards him because archer is Shirou

I think the reason so many want other to avoid the 2006 version is less about the animation and more about how it change plot near the end The animation and art argument is more so from other newer fan Many old fan want people to experience thing as faithful as possible but that is just impossible without playing the visual novel but it is not for everyone

Fate needs a more dedicated adaptation to actually shine tbh. A lot of visual novel readers gets so disappointed because of how much context is skipped when adapted. FGO was so epic tho. Also, based taste brother a lot of ppl sh*t on Fate saying it was basic and mid and I respect that not everyone likes it

The real reason people dislike the 2006 anime is because it's supposed to be an adaptation of the fate route, but it mixes in stuff from the other two routes, even though they're not designed to work like that. Resulting in a messy & dated adaptation. I mean, you're not even supposed to meet Assassin or Caster's Master in the fate route because they both got killed by Gilgamesh off-screen. Unlimited blade works is the route that explores them & Caster. You can understand why fans of the visual novel want a new adaptation for the fate route to complete the series, but Nasu, the writer has wanted to remake the the fate route before it gets a new anime (still waiting lol) Still, glad you're getting into it, but I can't help but feel like you're not getting why fate/staynight is structured this way. The fate/staynight visual novel is made up of 3 routes. The Fate route, the Unlimited Blade Works route, & the Heaven's Feel route. You are forced to read in this order to unlock the next route. First two routes are adapted into animes while the last one is a trilogy. The main theme of Fate/StayNight is "conquering oneself." There are three story lines in Fate, each has a different theme, with different heroines to help explore them (if you're still wondering why Saber is less focused on after the Fate route). The first one is "oneself as an ideal." The second one is "struggling with oneself as an ideal." The third one is "the friction with real and ideal." Each one explores different aspects of Shirou to give us a full picture & understanding of his personality, and describes his growth. The first storyline (Fate) shows his slanted mind (selfish dreamer), the next storyline (UBW) shows his resolve (selfless dreamer), and the last storyline (Heaven's Feel) gives another resolution for him as a human (selfless realist). It's not about which version is better as they are different stories that build on eachother. They're necessary in understanding Shirou. I'd recommend reading the visual novel & if not, check out "The Core of Shirou Emiya" on RUclips. It really helps put it all into perspective & helps give a new appreciation for each route. It does cover Oath Under Snow which is kind of like an unofficial fourth route beforehand, but I'll leave all of that up to you. I just hope you can get as much enjoyment as possible out of the Fate series. It's a great time 👍🏾

Just wanna say great vid you detailed this stuff well but I didn’t even realize this was a topic for discussion. Them being in love or at the very least “having feelings for each other” is 100% intentional and integral to the story and is canon to the story. Amy Pascal one of the producers of both movies not to mention a woman who has hands in pretty much all motion picture Spider-Man content has said that this movie was in part a love story between Gwen and Miles. So ya know there it is. If the people in charge of the people making the movie say this is going to happen then it’s gonna happen lol there ain’t no changing that. Plus I think what goes over peoples heads a lot is that yeah Gwen and Miles are older in this movie but they’re both still kids Gwen is like 16 and a half and Miles is 15 those are the ages were saying “we’re friends” can literally mean two people are friends or they’re deeply in love teenagers are wonderfully bad at communicating their feelings in a clear and concise matter because most often it’s their first experience with these kinds of deep emotions and they’re trying to figure it all out. And I think the clock tower scene beautifully shows that Gwen and Miles are two kids each with a disgusting amount of responsibility upon their shoulders who amidst all their problems and struggles are also trying to navigate their affection for each other. I could go into deeper detail but the key points of proof are 1. The Producers said so. 2. Gwen literally risked the multiverse to see Miles she warped right to him not to his dimension right to him. 3. They spent 3 days together and it’s been a year and a half since either of them have seen each other and the first thing they do is try to impress each other and talk about their familial relationship and then their relationship with each other. I mean if that isn’t the writers saying pretty blatantly “we’re setting up a romance” then I dunno man maybe creative writing is dead

The only way I can see Gwen and Miles not get together is if his father dies. This might cause a strong enough rift that Miles may not patch up his relationship with Gwen until it is too late.

I love that people get so into these movies that they talk about the character's behavior as if these were real events that happened. Like no disrespect on that, that's awesome that a movie can engross someone so much. I would just advise people to be mindful that the characters are on rails though. Their intent is pre-planned, and their thoughts are not naturally occuring, simply because they were written. Qwen cannot be a permanently "bad person" in these movies anyway, because at the end of the day that's not the intention by the writers. Her actions do not make her a villian automatically just because Miles got hurt in the crossfire, and to hate her as if her actions are unforgivable no matter what is super weird to me. Like are people claiming that the writing didn't hit right and she comes off as bad accidentally, or on a human level are people just mad she made the decisions they wrote her to make in the movie? If it's the last part I kinda get it. If y'all hate complicated betrayals from a love interest, don't read the Maze Runner books... That plotline really fucked me up, and I fundamentally hated it because it felt like the character who does the betrayal was written into a box to achieve that plotline. Even if someone disagreed with that and could argue it's done amazingly in those books.. I still don't like what was done because reading it gave me terrible anxiety that I couldn't desl with and I had to give up trying. So if it's that, you do have my understanding fully, although it's infinitely easier to cope with Qwens behavior here than in the Maze Runner books.. Also learning that good people just make bad choices sometimes is apart of life, and you'd lose a lot of great people if you didn't give them room to make those human mistakes.

Not totally convinced nothing went down between Gwen and Hobbie. Maybe they’re platonic, maybe they’re having a fling, maybe it’s more. The brother/sister relationship is ideal when you’re in a band with the opposite sex, but relationships tend to happen. Michelle Branch married her base player, Selena Quintania married her guitar player, Shiela E married her saxophone player, and don’t even get me started with Grace Slick! There is a blink and you’ll miss it line where Hobbie says to Gwen she left her toothbrush at his place. Maybe they were doing an overnight rehearsal, but maybe they weren’t. I totally believe she loves Miles, but seeking companionship before you’re ready to move on or even certain you need to move on happens all the time.

I honestly, don't like them as a couple. Gwen betrayed him, and I don't think she has any respect for him. Especially when they first meet in the 2nd movie. She gets all in his space, and ruins his things. No boundaries.

Gwen is not a traitor, because she was taught wrong about the Canon Events by Miguel. As it showed Miles showed Gwen that anything is possible. You don't have to follow the rules of the story; you make your OWN story based on your rules. Spider-Man doesn't choose who to save. only the the ones he can save. Sure Gwen did hurt Miles, but only because of what Miguel told her.
