I watched the first episode, tried to wait for the next, then went 'screw it!' And binged to the most recent chapters. Seriously, this is a series that DOES NOT QUIT.
I’m absolutely loving DanDaDan so far. Momo and Okaruns relationship feels like a breath of fresh air because it feels like both characters have a genuine crush for each other, the animation is amazing, and I love the intro. Both Momo and Okarun are my favs Also Grany Seiko is a baddie
I need more ppl talking about the scene right after they defeat the sumo alien. The scene where they were holding each other, in most anime they would have made a dumb fan service joke and when they didnt i IMMEDIATELY knew Dandadan would be PEAK.
I saw him with his face in her chest and was like "He just tore himself apart for your sake, you just took a pummeling for him. You love each other. You're past making that cringe joke." Then they didn't and I smiled.
I LOVE when momo and okarun are holding/shielding each other (like during the end of the flatwoods monster fight). Like its so sweet and there's pure love between them ❤
I have found it so satisfying to see the girl in the relationship be just as physically protective over the guy. I have seen it a bit more in recent years, but it feels extremely rare as girls are the ones who are "supposed" to be protected even if they are physical/abusive and easy to anger in normal situations. Momo and Okarun are great
It really is I just watched the most recent episode and I’m shocked at how good it still is. This is easily one of the best anime I’ve watched in a long while. Honestly I feel like it’s gonna end up being a modern anime masterpiece of they keep up the same quality
You nailed with with the analysis of Okarun's departure at the end of episode 4 but his goodbye implied a more definite finality. "Sayonara" isn't a casual goodbye, it's used when you don't expect (or don't want) to see someone again. It's pretty uncommon in actual usage and can be quite hurtful so Okarun using it speaks volumes about his sense of how others see him. He automatically assumes she'll want nothing to do with him now that there's nothing tying them together. It's a lot of weight for a single word and I adore how Momo immediately sees through his awkward ass and says what he couldn't. Their quiet rumination over it is actually one of the reasons I still watch subs. Dubs have gotten pretty good but there are still a lot of cases where English just can't capture nuances. The scene is good in the dub, don't get me wrong, but it's hard to interpret "goodbye", which has drifted from that kind of finality into a fairly casual word for us, with the same severity as "sayonara". It feels more awkward than melancholy in the dub.
Yes I love how much detail they put in this show, and it’s all thanks to my elementary knowledge of Japanese that I figured that bit out. And yeah I agree that for some shows, the Japanese dub will automatically be better because the original jokes and lines, with the subtext in them, are written in Japanese. There are some things English dubs cannot do at the same level as Japanese and this is one of them. But thanks for watching!
Okarun and Momo have the most Organic Friendship i can think of. The best part about it is that They more than likely still would have become friends even if Aliens and Ghosts didn't exist. Before they got attacked, they were having a genuine conversation about their personal lives. Okarun sad she was easy to talk too, and they already had each other's phone numbers.
Agreed. In a context where the supernatural did not actually exist and neither had been attacked by said beings than night, I do think they would have had a friendship going. One that perhaps would have taken more time to become as strong in Canon, due to the trauma-bonding being absent, but it would still have been there nonetheless.
7:35 Momo isn't unserious, her granny just mentioned the name Ken which she has a massive crush on (Ken Takamura, that is) hence she is like like fawning over him and loosing focus on the current task :)
What's funny about these two, I had a similar situation with someone in high school. Randomly starting hanging out with me, when I was chillin in a teacher's classroom during my breaks and we would just yap about nerdy shit. I was the super reserved type and hung out on my own, if I wasn't with my bff. Guy was very super sweet with me, and we both ended up having feelings for each other at the end of our school year. Sadly, nothing ever happened... since I was too chicken to tell him, but found out after he had feelings for me as well ^^'
Absolutely read the manga. It's a rollercoaster, and I mean that in every sense of the word. It goes everywhere (And I mean EVERYWHERE) and takes you for this unhinged adventure where just about anything can and does happen, but at its core are these genuine and charming characters that you grow to really care about in very short order because while they're obviously exaggerated, they feel like people you probably know or are (or were) at least acquaintances with in high school. Which is really the only thing that bothers me with how much EVERYONE is in their underwear, but given this is Japan, highschoolers and underwear are unfortunately permanently interconnected.
The first episode was already great, really loved episodes 2 and 3 aswell, but episode 4 topped all previous episodes, only to be topped again by episode 5 and *again* by episode 6 ! Dan Da Dan is absolutely *peak* !
3:40 "I don't know if there's any romance along the line" The first episode's called "That's how Love Starts, Ya Know!" lol. But don't worry its arguably the best part of the thing
Honestly you’re right lol I had just finished the Fate series and in that, even the most obvious relationships don’t work out because of outside forces
Watch the anime and read the manga The love that the cast has for one another, in spite of their constant and hilarious bickering, makes them stupidly endearing. They're worth watching/reading even *before* they get thrown into the most grand-scale out-of-pocket crisis situations imaginable. DanDaDan's dang hilarity would be so much less interesting if the characters and emotional beats weren't so grounded and compelling
I don’t know if anyone told you this, but the author of Dan Da Dan was one of the 4 assistants of Fujimoto, the author of Chainsaw man and I thunked he worked on it. The other assistants went on and created Spy x Family, Hell’s Paradise, and another manga I heard was good but can’t remember.
@@trolltime2128I did also heard that Fujimoto sometime considered his assistants to be just as talented and even more talented than him at times, and that he considered working with them as a sort of skill exchange between the lot of them as pros in their domain rather than just the typical mentor/student type of dynamic you get in these settings. So it ain’t really a downplay, Fujimoto just happened to get to work in a room full of geniuses lmao
Btw dandadan has 24 episodes divided in two cours, so we'll have 12 now and then 12 at the begging of next year. So I recommend you wait until the anime is out to read the manga. The anime is doing god's work and giving the manga one of the best adaptations in years. Enjoy this crazy kinda fucked up romance
The English dub is FANTASTIC AJ Beckles is doing an amazing job as Ken Takakura. First time he transformed in episode 2 I thought it was a different voice actor! The rest of the cast is great too but AJ is the star of the show! The dub is just perfect to me so it's the only way I'm Watching Dandadan. Also the rap song Otonke by creepy nuts in the opening is amazing, there's an English version of it by Tundra on RUclips it's AMAZING. It keeps 99% of the Japanese lyrics meaning and it's on beat so definitely check it out!!!!
I ended up fineshing the manga after ep 3 XD its wild and awesome, it feels so real. spoilers its dame funny and mash of all the major anime genres and the funniest Akira reference XD. Godzilla vs Buddha mech fight. just hilarious. Jumanji reference singing magical girl reference, just too good. Can wait for more torbo grannys. the outro of the anime really sums up her true nature, finding lost souls and helping them.
It's very clear that they care deeply for each other and that they're very protective of one another. They're crazy about each other, they just don't realize it yet. I think we can add Momo-chan to the list of gyaru who are nice to otaku's. Kitagawa Maria, Nagatoro, Moeko, Galko and so on.
If you love dandadan, I CANNOT recommend more Gachiakuta. It’s like Dandadans younger sibling but equally as peak. The anime isn’t out yet tho, it’s coming in 2025
I binged the whole manga for this and it gets SOOOOOO much better
I can’t wait
It's taking everything in my being to not binge the manga before this season is over
@@DazedAndConfuzingI intended to wait for anime but then picked up the manga 3 days before premiere, still damn excited for the anime, no regrets
@@DazedAndConfuzing Keep strong, I have caught up to the manga and now I am sad that I have no more dandadan to consume T-T

@ u not wrong I been reading it and it really only gets better. I especially can’t wait for one part in particular to get animated

The only small solace is that clothing damage isn't suspiciously gender specific.
The best thing the author's editor made the him read a lot of shojo manga to get the romance part right and it worked.

Momo’s Japanese Va alone is better than all the other actors in English.
And the other Japanese voices are just as iconic big names in the industry.
