Thank you for the update, Mike! I live in Georgia, about 30 minutes from where the new plant will be built. This will create great job opportunities for local Georgians.
As a business I can see how using a loan to build is wiser than spending every dollar you have to make it happen. It's best to keep money in reserve for unknown complications especially seeing how rivian isn't profitable yet. It's very smart business.
No. What Rivian offers is similar to basic Autopilot in a Tesla. It doesn’t even have the features of enhanced autopilot which has automatic lane changes and navigate on autopilot. FSD is a whole level above basic and enhanced autopilot. Now that the end to end model is being used on highway there is no comparable feature on any other car. Just used it on a 2 hour drive home and it’s really like a human is driving, practicing the same highway etiquette that I would with smooth as butter lane transitions. I’ve owned FSD for a year and I’m constantly impressed by it.
Rivian is working with the Energy Department to close the loan before the Trump administration takes over. In order for Rivian to get the loan in general is it conditional.
But Vivek and Elon have stated they are looking into this loan. Self-serving jerk. Tesla used those loan years ago, but Musk will use his orange buddy to push other companies out of the EV field.
Something is off here. All this money to build a factory to produce only 400K vehicles annually. Also it will take too long to get this factory up and running. You keep saying about Tesla getting a government loan but it was 465 million not this 6.6 billion. Our tax money is going to the trash Rivian will never pay it back.
What concerns me is if Trump will be able to squash the deal. From what I have read it sounds like he is going to do whatever he can to slow EV growth here.
I don’t get the impression that Trump is doing everything he can to slow EV growth, he’s just doing everything he can to keep gas power as an option. Besides, with Elon Musk being one of Trump’s biggest supporters, if Trump were to squash the growth of EVs it would go against everything Musk has worked to achieve.
Tesla got a loan before they made the m3 and mY. And elon is getting nervous because his company never had to compete with a better company than his. He also knows that his products are not what people make them out to be the cybertruck proves this.
I don’t think this is any different than when Tesla got the loan. It would be more of an FU to Rivian if Elon tried to stop it from happening. Let them prove that they deserve to be here just like Tesla was able to prove it
@ you understand that back in 2015 he open-sourced most of his EV patents, if he was scared of competition he would’ve never done that. The Dems would’ve eventually forced him to open-source his patents but that would be government overreach.
wow so rivian got a 5 billion dollar life line...4oo miles per charge and they might have a chance .300 miles is not that great whene facing battery degridation
Well, my Launch Edition R1T with 40,000 miles, about 1/3 of those towing, many more with heavy loads in the bed, and lots of rapid charging, including repeated drains to 0% and DC charges to 100% (on towing road trips in charger-sparse parts of the country,) is still at the same usable capacity as when it was 6 months/5000 miles old, so I’m not worrying about degradation.

That’s awesome that you’ll get to see it all first hand!
The R3 looks sick. Can’t wait for that one.
It was so cool in person!
I saw a Rivian Fedex truck last week 🙌🏽
Are you sure about that? I just did a search, and it said that FedEx uses GM EV’s…
@ my mistake, it’s made by BrightDrop Zevo. They look so similar to the amazon rivian trucks 😅
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching!
Mike, stellar job…as usual.
Thanks!
Thank you! 😊
Thanks for making these videos!
Of course! Thank you for watching!
Great Video. In a recent interview RJ noted that the VW funds gave them enough to build factory in Georgia. I am confused as to why the loan then?
They’ll take all the funding they can get!
@@MikeKantorskiTechat this stage for sure

@Drizzie95 yes, it’s basically providing them some wiggle room
Cool stuff
Definitely 👍
Does Rivian have FSD like Tesla?

@@diamond_h0usThank you. Does Rivian have a roadmap toward full self-driving?
Yes, they do plan to keep improving it towards fsd
@@MikeKantorskiTechthank you. When?
@alexkwitko1577 it will be a slow rollout
It's a loan not a grant 🤷♂️
Yes, I may have slipped saying grant once 😳
great video but can we get something high then 720p sorry
No worries, honestly wasn’t sure if people cared or not. I’ll make sure to up the resolution from here on out
Is the loan something the new administration could cancel?

It is good that it is a loan and not a grant.
@jlaw1901 agreed, and it’s not just guaranteed.

Say goodbye to all American made vehicles then. I really hope someone tells him that will put us back into a prehistoric agr

I have a Rivian R1S 2025, and I love it…but that $6.6B government loan is definitely a big F.U. directed to Tesla and Elon Musk!!!

@AnonymousFreakYT love hearing this!
I won't call it secured when Elon and his cronies are going to try to cancel the loan
If his true goal is to continue progressing us towards cleaner energy he won’t. Let’s hope that still is something on his mind…
@MikeKantorskiTech Vivek already said that they are going to review that loan to find ways to gut it.
I can only imagine the frustration RJ and the rest of Rivian are going thru.
@@MikeKantorskiTech yep I like Rivian as a company.
I guess being the richest guy on the planet isn’t enough?
Don’t Ford’s and Rivian’s charge on Tesla’s network giving Tesla extra revenue?
