Fantastic! God bless you. Lol from an Orthodox Christian living just about beyond the end of the earth 🌍 🌎🌏🌴🐊
I was raised Protestant and my experience there drove me to a spiritual starvation. I will not call it a spiritual death as that would imply a complete separation from god. So much has changed since I found orthodoxy. In line with what St Nicholas Casabilas say I have found "god is as essential to me as my own heart" I am on my way to becoming a catechumen and even spent this last weekend working for the nuns of a local monastery. The majesty that I felt being in their chapel has been unparalleled in my life. Thank you Father, as always for your guidance.
Being raised Lutheran, I really must say that you have helped to convince me that it is a sinking ship, their lies are finally crumbling.. All these "divisions" of Christianity..
Thank you, Father Mikhail.
Not just for Protestants but for Traditional Catholics like myself. Currently a Catechumen in the Orthodox church.
I almost went Lutheran when I decided it was time to go back, start taking my faith seriously, on the sole strength of his book: On the 👃 and their Lies ❤
Lutherans aren’t the same as Charismatics though. Charismaticism isn’t Protestant.
@@brianrich7828 It's just as much Protestant as Lutheranism and Anglicanism are. Sure, you could say one is better than the other, but they all fall under Protestantism. There are thousands of Protestant denominations and sects
@@ThomasG_Nikolaj no,no they don’t. And no there isn’t. Protestantism began in the 15th century. These little cults started in the 1900’s,for instance Charismaticism which Kenneth Copeland is a part of. It’s at least ignorant to lump anything sort of based on Christianity as Protestant. Just like we can’t lump Protestants in with Catholics. They aren’t the same, not even close in many aspects of doctrine and practice. The Historical Protestants disagree on peripheral issues and not the fundamentals of Protestant theology and Christology. They often break bread together and allow each others pastors to teach in their churches. So,again, they are not Protestant. And at worst, this isn’t based on ignorance but dishonesty.
Former Protestant here and I just want to thank you, Father Mikhail, for this video. You make many great points, bring up many of the things that led me away from the Evangelical upbringing that I had and Praise God, I found Orthodoxy. Or, rather, Orthodoxy found me a few years ago. Great video! God Bless you and your family!
As someone who’s begun to attend Orthodox services in NA, how do I bear good witness to my parents and siblings who are in another country ? 😢 They are from a non denominational Protestant church with Methodist leanings (their church is a conservative flock who have done most of what they have done out of piety, despite the sheer missteps.)
The Orthodox church has been the most Christ centered church I've ever been in. There is no question of this. I had never encountered Christ prior to joining the Orthodox church. The Divine Liturgy is Christianity in its purest form. The words change you from inside out.
I had to leave other churches, including the RC church because they were so man centered. They barely acknowledge God and Christ is reduced to the role of social worker/therapist whilst followers are encouraged to navel gaze and accept their sin.
Go to an Orthodox Liturgy and your life will be changed forever ☦️🙏🏻❤️
Beautiful video. ❤️
I'm a former pentecostal protestant, now eventually on my way to orthodoxy☦️
My desire I may get baptized in orthodox church❤
Father, I am from Bulgaria and born Orthodox.
I started doing research and learning more about the faith. I couldn't believe there were "Christian Zionists" claiming "God is Zionist". I almost fell out of my chair yesterday.
We do not have a lot of protestant sects here, but seeing these blasphemies... I do not have any words for it. And it always comes from Evangelicals/Protestants.
Take good care. Many apear here in Serbia as well. But they dont claim they belong to any church couse they know they cant get us easy, but their teaching is very protestant and can lead astray us Orthodox beliving them they are real Christians, excpetualy as many of us born in Orthodoxy unfortuatly dont learn much about our faith.
Greetings from a neighbour 😁
I could never fully understand why American Christians support the Zionist state of Israel, Jews who will spit on Christians...
Ah, it is ridiculous stuff.. Greetings brothers in Europe, from northeast America here. 😁✋ ☦️💜☦️

I read somewhere about a lady who was an expert in ancient languages and heard people speaking in tongues saying horrid things about God and Christ. Those people had no idea what they were saying
Demonic messages..
I heard a similar story of a seminarian from Laos who once attended a Pentecostal service out of curiosity only to hear the preacher blaspheming in perfect Laotian.

Like how? I mean those in Africa might not even have access to other religious services but you guys how?
Father Bless thank you it's a hard but nessacery word for so many wishing you and Matushka all the best on your new assignment.
Former Pentecostal and now starting catechumen. I kept hearing "God is Holy" and went to an Orthodox church and never looked back.
That’s been the experience for me too as a Protestant back when I was way younger. I saw them speaking some type of gibberish and a concert followed up with a talk about the Bible. That sums up Protestantism
in my humble request, please stop strawmanning Protestantism.
Today, in the first week of 2024, I announced to my former Presbyterian minister that I'm leaving for good. I told him it wasn't personal, for weeks I was talking to an Orthodox Father online, and I was enrolled in Orthodox catechism. I also said that I still consider him a friend.
I expected a negative reaction, but it was worse than I imagined: I was shunned by the pastor and the community, as if I meant nothing for them despite all time I've been there. They had the audacity to say Orthodox are not real Christians, that I was doomed. That I was never "one of them".
I'm happy this happened, otherwise I would never realize I was a lost sheep in a den of vipers. I considered them siblings, but this fraternity could only last as long as I was obedient to their errors.
Now I'm free and can wait to travel to participate in the Divine Liturgy. Christ be praised!
Please, pray for all the catechumens and those who long for the Orthodox Truth but have no parish nearby!
God bless you
I'm about ready to tell my Lutheran pastor the same thing. Wonder how he will take it.
@@xnihilo1044 Lutherans are usually more tolerant. He will probably be receptive but warn you about a couple of things. Listen to him in respect.
I grew up in a protestant church my whole life. Some were charismatic, others not so much. But I never would have believed that the idea that Jesus was "just a man", but it's starting to show up more and more. As you said, its the natural end for a belief that removes itself from church tradition, the writings of the saints and early church fathers. Many of these heresies aren't even new and have already been refuted, but protestants (and I should know) have no idea of church history prior to, at best, the 1500s and, at worst, the day their church started renting out the building that used to be a state farm insurance office.
Charismatic is not Protestant. Charismatic wasn’t a thing until 1909 and after the Azusa street farce. Protestants have condemned them thoroughly as a cult just as Jehovahs witnesses.
Best example I have heard of authentic "speaking in tongues" was a story about St Paisios. A young man came to see him who only spoke Spanish. St Paisios spoke Greek. Observers nearby say that they held a full conversation. One speaking Spanish, the other speaking Greek. Yet they both were perfectly able to understand the other.
Many years ago I attended a Protestant church just to see what it was like and all I saw was a circus which was overflowing with more clowns than Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey could ever have.
I attended a Pentecostal church for 3 years after attending an Orthodox church I realized what a freak show it is. I'm now a Catechumen.
😂😂😂
You went to a Charismatic Pentecostal church. Which aren’t Protestant. Good job. Might as well have went to a Jehovahs Witness temple.
I was raised in that world. Circus is a good description.
Why don't you try a traditionalist Lutheran or Anglican church?
One more comment. I remember getting in trouble of sorts in Sunday School for not being able to speak in tongues with the other two new kids. Even at 11 years old it felt extremely off to me and didn't seem like something that was good. I told my mom I didn't want to go back there anymore. I'm glad she was able to listen to me and not feel she knew better. It wasn't long after that we stopped attending that church.
I had much the same experince. Converting to Orthodoxy and reading Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy confirmed what I had always felt in my spirit. The modern practice of glossolalia masquerading as a "gift of tongues" is a dangerous prelest. I dont deny that there are many well intentoned people who are involved with the practice, but if you study its origins it is clearly not something the Church has or should practice. What the Apostles recieved on Pentecost is not the same as what is being practiced today in these denominations. May God have mercy on us, and on our separated bretheren.
I live in Orthodox country and i saw once that screamin and falling on floor thing on yt(horor). Here that also happens sometimes, but we call it "demon posesed person". 😂

thank you Father, this was spot on, cheers from Serbia and love to all of sisters and brothers, blessed be all on this day of Saint Paraskeva of the Balkans!
God has taken me through many churches, and I keep thinking I am finally at the right church. I am currently at a Missouri Synod Lutheran church, but now I am starting the journey at an Antiochian church in my town. Thank you for this video.
Protestantism is sinking sand. Orthodoxy is the rock
I'm in thee early stages of converting from being a protestant to Orthodox. This video is timely beyond measure, and has only made me more excited for my journey into Orthodoxy and being apart of the True Church! God bless you Father and thank you!
Me too. I'm a catechumen now.
I'm fairly new to Christianity but I've definitely felt something missing in Protestantism - exactly like you said the sermon is more of a self-help seminar than anything edifying. It just feels kind of cobbled together and very adhoc.
I'm slowly becoming familiar with Orthodoxy and it seems like the true choice to me. Even when I was atheistic I knew that Jesus wasn't being metaphorical about the bread and the wine and I was a bit surprised to find out that protestants deny that. In fact by the time they finish with all of their denials they leave me wondering why they need the god they're imagining at all.
So I'll be looking into attending one of the orthodox churches in my area to at least get a sense of traditional Christianity. We have Greek, Russian, Ethiopian, Antiochian (more than one) and a few others. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks for the videos, they're very helpful and informative. God bless.
Ethiopian Tewahedo are not in communion with us. May God bless you! ☦
Ethiopian is not in communion with Eastern Orthodoxy. But I would suggest Antiochian because most if not all of the liturgy should be in English. The Greek one also likely has a great deal of English in it mixed with Greek. You should contact the priest at each, and the Russian one if you want to, and just speak with them about what to expect regarding the language and anything else. But don’t think too much about it; just go! God bless 🙏
@@PaulWashington.. so Peter and Paul were both acting in opposition to Christ's will? Or Jesus didn't mean what he said about founding His church? That's a hard sell for me. As I said - if we're just going to deny things plainly stated by the Lord why bother with Him at all?
You were listening to Charismatics which aren’t Protestant. People need to know what things are before confusing them.
@@brianrich7828 No offense at all, but Charismatics are Protestant. Surely some spout more heresies than others, but they are of the same sola scriptura, post reformation camp as all other protestants.
This aligns with most of what I've felt uneasy about with Protestantism as I've come to be more familiar with Orthodoxy (admittedly, I've yet to attend an Orthodox church service). The rest that I didn't know which you have touched upon gave new light and has only strengthened my faith in the Orthodox Christian faith. Thank you Father Mikhail, God bless. ☦
Utterly fantastic video! Thank you Father. Holy Orthodoxy is such a magnificent gift from God.

I had a very similar experience. It actually put me off of the Bible for a long time. Orthodoxy helped to reignite my love for the scriptures
@@living_orthodox really what’s missing, I’m one of those evil protestants that you talk about, I read the Bible daily, I give God glory and thanks all the time for everything, I try to live the life Jesus wants me to live, do I follow and obey God or a church with flawed sinful people always bickering with each other. You would think there would be more love between Christians but it’s just judgement and hate, it’s ok if you and your congregation hate us, God will judge us all one day and if He decides He doesn’t know me just because I wasn’t Orthodox or Catholic then so be it, He will forever be my Lord and Savior, God bless you
@@bullzeye40 we don’t hate you. You’re simply wrong about what it means to be a Christian. What’s missing? Learn Church history and see that the ancient Church never disappeared and never needed a reformation. Such talk denies the promise of the Lord in Matthew 16. Don’t assume I hate you or think you’re evil. Your doctrines are heretical. You’re not evil. Be wary of levelling such judgements. The Lord in the gospels and St Paul in the epistles warm against false teachings and teachers. Protestantism is by false. For the record we believe the Catholics are in error too. Your sect came from them as do all Protestants.

I grew up Mormon, but left about two years ago. I attended two different Pentecostal churches last year and always felt slightly uncomfortable. Especially with the "speaking in tongues" and "being overpowered by the spirit" gigs; it was all very distracting. Not to mention the prosperity gospel being preached, the Bible always being taught at surface-level, I always left wanting more.
I attended my first divine liturgy almost two weeks ago and it was a night and day difference. I didn't want it to end. I'm so haopy to have found Orthodoxy
Hello! Thank you for your video and sharing your perspective! I am a practicing Presbyterian Christian, and you certainly make some valid points. There are many protestants that wholeheartedly disavow the heresy of the prosperity gospel and the crazy denominations like pentecostals. John MaCarthur is someone who also gets a lot wrong (I think he is blinded by his hatred of Catholicism personally) and falls into Nestorian heresy at worst, misunderstanding at best. Within the western churches there has been to great of a scientific application on the spiritual that comes from the 18th century enlightenment. I think your perspectives are valid and I am interested to hear more. What I would suggest is try to separate the critique of the prosperity gospel and speaking in tongues and all that into one topic, and then tackle some of the more serious scholarship and arguments for protestants in separate videos. Again I really respect the Orthodox faith, especially as a bulwark of the christian world against Islamic incursions and I want to learn more about the theology. Thanks!
Thanks for the feed back! That’s a great idea! Given the prevalence of the prosperity gospels and the charismatic movement. Plus the widespread damage it’s had on the west. Thanks again! :)
The sensual spectacle showmanship of modern protestantism really gets its root in the sensual morality plays of papal protestantism.

Obviously, Protestantism is man-centered but the way you put it here made something click for me.
I’ve been to many non-denom Protestant churches in my life and now attend an Orthodox church, and the thing that clicked from this video is the dramatic difference in images used. In many large, protestant churches, the hallways will have large photos of the worship band, or the head pastor and etc. while in orthodox churches, the only images you really see are icons of saints and Christ.
Obviously, nobody is venerating the photos in protestant churches, but it’s still unsettling to take into consideration the unconscious theology at work. My prot. friends would look in horror at people venerating icons while their “church” is filled with images of the head pastor and the worship band.
Also, it’s almost impossible to avoid pride and vanity, while being a worship leader in a protestant church. I don’t care how humble or pious someone is that is a spiritually dangerous role to play.
If there are any typos in this comment, I apologize. I’m using talk to text.

Being cradle orthodox we are raised to understand that there is only ONE church, everything else is a sect and they could be very dangerous. When I moved to the US and saw that people just go around picking and choosing places to worship, I was shocked. By the Glory of God im back inmy homeland Russia. However, when I listen to the stories of what battle people have to go through to even learn that Orthodoxy exists and then to find a parish, to learn so much, to dig sooo deep for the truth I admire them so much!!! Us here we never had to do much of that work, and that is not always a good thing. Our terrible atheist communist past, however, did an amaing trick. Peope saw what it has done to us after 100 years, and now by the Glory of God people are going back straight to Orthodox church, which was almost destroyed, with only a few faithful (mostly women) stayed, but they saved everything for us, future christians! Glory to God! Have a fruitful Christmas lent! May those who seekIng SALVATION AND HOLY KINGDOM OF GOD not experiences, happiness and joy of this temporary life find your videos helpful!

Lovely word. It’s interesting. The younger generation seems ok with a mere ‘cyberdoxy’ as opposed to an actual Life in the Church and understanding that Orthodoxy is lived and not viewed solely.
Gospodi pomiluj ☦️
I would argue that’s false. Until the internet and the use of it to share the faith, there were many who didn’t know about it. Orthodoxy was obscure, or there were outright language barriers. There is no such thing as “cyberdoxy” this is a term that sounds like it was made either by those who don’t understand the need to reach out to younger people in a way they’d understand and see, without compromise. But no one I know and myself included, encourages a solely “online” experience of the faith. It’s meant to encourage people to go to Church and there is plenty of evidence that it does. The lukewarm approach of hiding behind the walls of a parish, or clergy who promote heretics yet denounce Orthodox Christians trying to share authentic faith is in fact contrary to the Gospel.
What’s funny is many who say this will publicly level judgements and accusations against priests and one must ask why? We defend heretics and attack one’s own brothers in the Church? I would argue the older generation’s members who struggles with this are in fact the ones who could be charge with “cyberdoxy” as they have no problems levelling their pietism and judgments online but are shockingly quiet when confronted in person.
@@living_orthodox oh, father, please understand, I agree and was in no way accusing you of fostering this sort of outlook or experience.
It is a niche thing I’ve encountered a few times and the misguided people that form these communities seem to lash out with a lot of vitriol at fellow Orthodox.
I apologize that the term is glib. I’m saddened that I’ve seen people online judging other priests or calling them scam artists for preaching here or conducting a mission. It’s a type of thinking and behavior that shocks me
I’m sorry if that came off the way that it.
I think the above content is great and I hope that more people regardless of belief, find the wisdom in it and ultimately their way to the Church.

I'm protestant while exploring orthodoxy... I will say that truly Christ-following, daily-praying protestants don't claim these prosperity gospel preachers. They are often called out and called false teachers and heretics.
However, I am tired of rock concerts with "me centered" lyrics. I personally reject all teachings and music to come from Hillsong, Elevation, Bethel, and the like. But I can't find any churches within a 20 mile radius that doesn't sing songs from these "churches"
I am very happy to see you here and that you’re searching. When you can, find a liturgy to attend in your language. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
As a Roman Catholic until my dying breath I must applaud you for calling out the heresies and inconsistencies of protestantism. Although there are Orthodox Christians who will say definitively that protestantism is almost the same as Catholicism and it's Western theology, I believe many brothers and sisters in the East will say that protestantism is a complete Distortion of what Christ instituted and what the early church fathers willed in the governing structure of the Church to be

Born orthodox, but away from God most of my adult life and when I decided to reconcile with God I went to a penticostal church for few months, 2-3 times a week and they scared me off when ALL of them started "speaking in tongues"...it felt demonic and nobody would understand what they were saying. Plus some would behave very weird, like crazy people. They also would start their service with 30 minutes concert and I was shocked to see playing instruments on a stage. No different than any other concert, apart from using the name Jesus in their lyrics. Their services were only man centred and the only time they would cite from scripture would be for tithing/asking money from people. I completely stopped going to penticostals when I found an Orthodox church which felt like being heaven!!! Glory to GOD!

"Without the fullness of the grace of God through the sacraments to assist and comfort them [protestants], how do they actualize-make real-the redemptive victory of Christ on a personal and individual basis? What they really hunger for is deep spiritual transformation, but what is available to them is often reduced to a mere emotional response to Christ, which can be rather shallow and unfulfilling, or a pumped-up gospel of positive thinking and prosperity, which does not reflect the reality of daily life or the truth of our human condition."

Thank you father, for another great talk! You and your family are always in my prayers.
Little question, what is the name/who is signing the chant at the end of the video? I hear it everything but I can't find it😅
Maybe this one? I'm not 100% sure, but...

Thank you Father - I am learning about Orthodoxy. Please pray for my journey. May God bless you 🙏🙏🙏
May God bless and help you!
@@living_orthodox Thank you Father 🙏
As a former Protestant who is an inquirer and gonna be catechised in the future. The Orthodox Church is preaching the truth as it was from the Holy Apostles. They stand against sin and pride and true communion with Christ .
I attended a local protestant church of God where I overheard a lady saying to another she took a foreign language class so she could babble during church services, at her own will
Amen! ❤️☦️
7:-7:30 same here so disgusting!!! i want to go to an Eastern Orthodox Church and i will never and have never once said in my life i want to go to a "church"
Protestantism, as well as Jehovah's witnesses, etc., look to me like going back to the Old Testament and neglecting the New Testament. It's as if the Jews got involved.
Very much so.
I was a protestant evangelical Christian for about five years. It was the worst decision l ever made. I ended up anxious depressed and my self worth completely destroyed. I was never perfect enough for their God. I left Christianity completely. I wonder if l had converted to Orthodox my experience would be different...
@@PqV72MT4 I honestly know what you mean. The problem is that all of sudden you’re expect to have this absolute moral perfection. You’re expected to be a saint and there’s no process of becoming better, being made better with time and healing.
Father I want to listen to your advice about finally attending a Liturgy but there are around 20 Eastern Orthodox Churches here in Sacramento, California USA and I don't even know where to start. Could you please give me some advice or better yet hop on google maps and look at them and see what you think may be best? This one caught my eye immediately and its near my old neighborhood, Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Serbian Orthodox Church. Thank you and God Bless.
The Serbian Church is an excellent option. My lay-advice would be to seek out a Parish that conducts services in English so you aren't left wondering what is being said/prayed/sung. My wife and I live in central Oklahoma and out of necessity we drive 45 miles to the closest Parish, which is an Antiochian parish, but the services are conducted in English, which greatly helps in our understanding. So regardless of jurisdiction (again, just my inexperienced layman view) find a parish that seems to be thriving and whose services/instruction/prayers/hymns, etc., are conducted in English for your edification. It won't hurt to attend several until you find one that seems to be the "right one" for you. Even then, some things will of necessity be said in Greek or Serbian, etc., as it were. For example, at Pascha, you will hear the phrase "Christ is Risen" in multiple languages potentially, along with English. Also, don't be surprised or put off if when attending the people are not overtly friendly and accepting right away. There is a mindset (phronema) quite different from the Protestant churches we have attended in the past who seek to "love bomb" you into attendance. Many (not all) Orthodox parishes tend to leave you to yourself so you can absorb what is happening without undue influence, not to mention there is just a lot typically going on and new faces can get "overlooked." They may wait for you to approach them, as it were. Whatever the case, do not let it put you off as if they were unwelcoming. That is not the point. It is more to allow you space to breath and meditate on what you have experienced, often for the very first time, which can be a bit overwhelming and even emotional or any other number of reactions depending on your own background and worldview.
@@EC66OK I think that was the kind of answer I was looking for. Thank you.
Orthodox Christians will be around to welcome our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on His return! ✝️. God bless all His Creation ✝️. 🌴🐊🇵🇬
I was raised a Pentecostal. I'm happy to say that it has instilled within me a deep faith and I truly trust and believe in God, I also believe I am nothing without my Lord Jesus Christ. However, I have grown to realize that their is something lacking in my denomination. Upon studying about church history, reading about the early church fathers and what they believed. As well as reading my Bible and verses like 2 Thessalonians 2:15, John 6:53, John 20:23, Revelation 8:4, really began to have made me question if what we follow and believe is really what the apostles and early church followed and believed. This Sunday I will be going to my local Orthodox parish (a Russian Orthodox Church) instead of going to my pentecostal church. I have been praying and asking the Holy Spirit for guidance this entire week. Please pray for me.
May God guide and help you! Be sure to talk to the priest after and ask him questions.
