Absolutely love my S24 Ultra and that's after using the S23 Ultra for 11 months. What a beast of a phone. Well done Samsung
Feel doesn't matter because everyone uses a case. Flat display feels better. S23 had software issues at launch as well. The natural color looks more.. natural, looking at my s23 now it looks way too rich. Camera feels fine, you can reduce or remove AI processing on photos. Goodlock Navstar allows for s23 hidden gestures. The reduced glare and improved processor alone are worth the upgrade.
Don't speak for everyone because I know plenty of people including myself that don't use cases or if we do it's because we are heading into places that we think may need it.

Well, vivid doesn't work, RCS is finally working now but didn't on launch, 10x and higher is terrible, S Pen issues with wireless charger, forced UI changes, I even gave examples of it in the video proving they existed because my previous videos whenever I find an issue, everyone just says I'm being paid by Apple to talk bad about it lol. I literally get stuff from Samsung to make videos. I'm not going to sugar coat the truth. Right now this phone isn't great, maybe in time after some software updates fixes a lot of it, but at this current time, this phone is kind of a flop compared to the S23 Ultra.

What about graininess on the display? when you reduce the brightness by 10% do you get any greyness and grain on blacks on the display?
I haven't had any problems with that the new screen is super nice.

The battery joke had me dying 😂…
1) screen protector doesn't go edge to edge horizontally because it is a film protector and the screen has 2.5D curves to it. it isn't completely obvious, but a curve is definitely there. the screen protector DOES do about 80% of the anti-reflectiveness that you have on the gorilla glass armor of the naked display, and this is actually unique in the market as far as i can tell. i saw some that claimed to block reflections, but they don't come close to what samsung is selling here.
i totally get it though, the gap is frustrating... the only solution if you want to run with a SP on the phone but retain the anti-reflectivness is to run with this film SP on the phone and use a case that has enough lip to close the gap. eventually i think some companies will start releasing tempered glass with gorilla glass armor, or at least a similar finish to block reflections, but for now this is the best we have. personally i just can't run without anything protecting this phone... i'm not worried about breaking the front glass, but i am worried about micro scratches.
2) the phone didn't turn on for anyone before plugging in the cable, it wasn't just you, but this is not a bug... this is the phone shipping in a low power state, which gets reset as soon as you plug the phone in.
3) i think i can help you a bit here... the gesture stuff. if you download good lock from the samsung store, and navstar from within good lock, you can choose "enable extra gesture setting". you can then go under settings -> display -> navigation bar -> more options, and now you will have the option to use the bottom gestures. you also can then choose to turn OFF the "gesture hint". also, under "keyboard list and default", you may need to disable "show button to hide keyboard", but it looks like you already found this. i believe this will provide you with the combination of gesture settings you are looking for.
Sounds like you got a really bugy phone.
Mine has failed once on sending text, but it only did that when switching between Samsung Messenger & Google Messenges,
I'll have to reboot, but nothing pops up.
No S-Pen issues or anything. It's just a beast of a phone.
I don't use all that AI crap.
I did go in & remove that Nav bar & I'm noticing the same.
My brain isn't texting correctly because the keyboard is up a little higher. Other than that, no issues.
I did run a TPU EVG Protector on my S22 Ultra every 3-4 months.
It saved that display from Micro scratches. My carrier gave me $800 for it, so I just pay $20 a month for this S24 Ultra.
I hate the new flat screen, it looks cheap. Camera a downgrade. I don't know what they were thinking, it's supposed to be the best phone in the world..
No issue with RCS on my unit. Wireless charging doesn't cause any issue either.
I cancelled my preorder because of dull display 🤢 but if they fix and not hardware issue will consider again.

All the S pens should be the SAME. I placed my Note 20 Ultra S pen in my new S24 Ultra and it worked just fine!

I was considering upgrading to the 24 ultra. The more I see, The less I like.
I switched to iPhone for the 15 pro max because I liked the camera a lot and my s20 ultra was getting long in the tooth. But I still keep it around just for super slow mo shots to record things like my golf swing. It’s so useful and 240fps just doesn’t quite keep up enough so I really wish any modern phones had 480+ fps capability still. I’m starting to feel like I should have just gotten a s23 last year instead of waiting.

Great content. Samsung said they are not fixing the vivid colors. They said it's because of the screen. It sounds like you might have a bad unit. I bet when the s25 ultra comes out, they'll put back the choice to hide the swipe gesture. That's why I'm holding onto my s23 ultra
Just FYI, they did fix the swipe gesture but now is not default on the phone, you need good lock and the feature is there now.
Where did you read that at? I haven’t any official thing from Samsung except that they acknowledge the Vivid mode for the display doesn’t work.

It's a first world problem for sure, but it's honestly the difference of just switching to a different phone. I just didn't expect the learning curve going from the same brand and series of phone to have it because of that stupid gesture hint thing. I've fixed it now, video showing how goes up on the 10th. But it's just kind of stupid that it's possible to remove it, but they went out of their way to remove the option when it's very much still possible to remove it through ADB.
Bruh. S24 ultra might be handsdown the best piece of tech comparable to the era, that ive ever laid my hands on. First phone i am rocking with no case. Its a work of art and the absolute epidemy of what a slab phone can look like and do. And i switch phones at LEAST once a year for the last 10 years.

And I'm not hating, I only make reviews to show random issues that no one talks about cause every other review is a paid one so they praise every device as if it's the greatest thing ever made. Someone's gotta tell it like it is.
Since recording this, RCS has been fixed though, so, at least the issues are making progress to being fixed pretty damn quick.

One point I did not understand in the video tho: 14:30 Why does the circel to search work better in a big city?
I meant the other AI features like translation in texts or calls and stuff where you might be meeting up with people from different countries or speak different languages. So the only useful feature I may have used was circle to search as all of the others really serve no purpose for living in such a small town, but it's way too accurate for me and kinda freaks me out so I want it off until I'm ready for that haha.
I really like S24 ultra currently have a flip 4 im paying on. I've owned a black S21 ultra before kind of miss it. It will probably be time to upgrade when the new Flip and Fold release

I switched from s22u and the s24u to me feels like it grips way better. I couldnt use the 22 without a case with how slippery it was.
Great review! i hold up to my 23 Ultra for a while because it is still a great phone and 📷 camera. There is not too much improvement with 24 ultra cameras and iA. i dont care for it, only a flat screen i like better, but my ultra 23 still has great battery life 2 days, no problem ultra 24 camera i don't see much improvement compared to 23 Ultra ! AI, I don't care about it! Only the flat screen I like better in 24 ultra, but that's not much improvement to spend 900 $ to get 24 ultra ..will wait maybe for 25 ultra 😂!
So I've had the phone for almost 3 weeks coming from the s22+ , so far no issues great battery and I just think you went in not wanting to like the phone. But I feel good about my purchase and with a good discount and free stuff.

Every one of my reviews only focuses on issues because every other review out there only talks about all the great new features. We all know the new features so I mention what no one else does like actual usability and small quarks that I notice switching between phones.
Dentist every 1.5 mths? That's a lot isn't it? Usually 2x a yr.
I was getting a fake tooth fixed so there were a lot of adjustments and I gotta go every month to month and a half during the healing process to make sure it's all going right. If you watch the earlier videos from this year, I'm literally missing my entire front tooth cause I didn't have the fake one back in yet lol
It's worth every penny. Wait for the updates, and the seven years of updates will help keep the value. The S23 Ultra value will be garbage next year.
I really like this take. Please make more detailed reviews of the product for "pro" android users...every review ive watched on this phone is read from the samsung website. None "pro" users of these devices dont even see these issues you highlighted, but for me they really matter! The "AI" thing is a scam, so many reviews get lost in the AI features but most people will use it once! I know 8 people with pixel 8 pros and they also never use the AI things!

I've the s23 ultra. You need to hold this phone to know you are holding greatness! I had the s23 ultra for about 7 months before this, and that phone was good.

God dammit! LMAO. I literally JUST responded to another comment about how people always say Apple is paying me to rag on Samsung in my videos. I literally get free stuff from Samsung. You know what Apple gives me, stress. Doing my Apple Certification was the most degrading experiences of my life. Doing my S+ Certification for Samsung was one of the best experiences of my life. I love Samsung, my entire house is Samsung everything. Every TV, Microwave, Dishwasher, Fridge, Stove, storage in my desktop and server, my watch, multiple phones, they give me so much random crap for free like water bottles, cups, pens, note books, headphones, chargers, wireless chargers, etc.
Samsung is my biggest supporter of the channel. I have nothing against Samsung, I love Samsung, but someone needs to tell it how it is when there are actual problems that thousands of people on Reddit are all experiencing as well as me.

We shouldn't buy phones and keep them waiting to be fixed. We should buy phones that works perfect at launch. Some phones works flawless at launch and they barely have some optimizations. Security patches and thats all. Before buy s23ultra, i made sure the phone works good . Even i went to a shop and tested by myself for 2 hours. Then i decided to buy. The phone was great from the very beginning. Only some bugs software but nothing actually important. S24u is a failure.
Show me one phone that was perfect out of the box . I can google ANY phone and somebody will be having issues.
You'll always hear more bitching about Samsung , Apple or Google because they are generally the most available worldwide , so any issue gets spread out of control .
Phones are computers now and as such get better over time with updates.

RCS didn't work at launch, vivid colours are still not working, 10x and higher is worse than previous models, countless people online are having faulty phones replaced due to a grain and banding issue in the displays with low brightness. I'm not the only one who experiences these things. Mine doesn't have the grain and banding issue with the display but there's tons of posts on reddit with people all experiencing the same issue and Samsung is exchanging phones that have it because it's an actual issue.
As for the best displays, that would go to Nubia, they have always pushed the bar for the absolute best displays on a phone. 120hz with under screen camera, 144hz, 165hz, the phones even have haptic triggers for gaming and a built in fan for active cooling.
Samsung is just a higher quality company because Nubia's software is godawful by comparison. This new display has countless issues across thousands of users, the only thing that makes it better is that it's finally flat so you don't have the colour shift on the edges anymore, and it's the strongest glass that ever exists.
One thing I didn't mention in this video was the anti-reflective coating on the glass looks identical to the 2013-2015 Retina MacBook Pro's that all had the fault of wearing away after years. I'm hoping with the advances in technology, they did a better job with it, but if it's anything like that old MacBook coating, it's going to start wearing away a lot faster seeing as you actually touch the screen on this regularly lol.

The firmware explanation was to lead into how these issues are likely beta related as a stable public firmware has not been released yet. The idea was to express how there's likely improvements to come but if you wanna look at it in a negative light as if I some how don't know what I'm talking about, then cool, that's all you.
