The game's performance and some visuals leave a lot to be desired but the game is fun and full of charm. I've been waiting for a new DQM so I'm super hyped for its release. But at the end of the day it's a spinoff that probably won't do as well as games like Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D or Dragon Quest XII.
When I was a wee lad I used to play Battle Realms and Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 and would name my Monsters after the heroes there. I cant wait to do the same here!
I'm super excited for this game! DQM Joker on the ds was one of my favorite games, and the sequel was even better! Sadly, it was the last game in the series that we would get for over a decade, since it didn't sell very well compared to Japan's sales. I love the charm of DQ's monster designs and the series recurring theme of letting you fuse final bosses, and other super cool monsters. I can't wait for December 1st!
I've had a blast playing the demo. I know these tend to just be noncanon side story but I've been reading up on DQ4 and I think this might be a legit prequel/ play as Psaros side of events
@@HDHaZmY I enjoyed many aspects of the game such as the pokemon themselves and the music. Oh man, the music was great. But the performance and visuals were just awful, I think pokemon legends arceus looks and runs much better
Just hoping the final game doesn't have the issues that plagued the demo like the performance issues and just barren, cheap feeling environments that gave it a budget game feel. A big example of this being the human arena area being very small and empty, and not letting you go into town at all.

I think it will remain fringe in the West, like with much of the Dragon Quest franchise. The slow loading screens and the laughably bad story will prevent the game from ever seeing mainstream appeal. But, I think this will easily out-perform the Joker entries. Had a blast with the demo, it brought me back to my fond memories of breeding at the Starry Night Shrine in DWM2 many years ago. The synthesis system appears to have been done well, and that was the most important aspect for me.
I'll probably give this a shot. If only to see if it works for me. Most DQ games kind of left me cold after IX, I think. I liked Joker, though, so I hope to find enjoyment here as well. I personally don't think it will succeed, despite at least having seemingly varied locales, which Pokémon SV seriously lacked. My guess is that the performance on the overworld will still be leaving something to be desired. It's the switch, after all. If this game runs terrible on it, then the hardware is seriously needing a refresh soon. Which is next year. Oh well.
I think they should really consider bringing in some of that DQ9 customization for a game like this, like your character's look, gender, clothing. Even Pokemon has been doing that for a while now, it's definitely a fun additional element to those games.
I think key to the dragon quest franchise is the protagonist being separate from the player since its less of a choice driven rpg and more one of experiencing a characters story But yeah thatd be nice
That would take a lot out of it. And make it a lot harder story wise. The Character you play as, is a character from another DQ game, DQ4 to be specific.
So far im at around 70 ish gameplay hours in the demo. Loving the game. Im getting the deluxe version. So many monsters you can create in demo. Leveling up so easy with spell Whack you can kill all 3 demo bosses over n over and level up like crazy. ❤
I just wish they'd get rid of the multi-slot size monsters. It's a neat gimmick but then you're there using one or two monsters instead of four and the game gets stale fast. They started this in Joker and I thought it was a bad move then after playing with some of them. DQM1 and DQM2 are their best releases and they didn't have large monsters. Half the fun of these games is theorycrafting teams and everyone with a four-slot monster is going to have the exact same setup.

The shear number of people who have already logged more hours in the demo than most first party rpgs is all the encouragement I need

I don't care if its look is dated, I like it that way. That's part of its charm😊

After Joker, the Monsters series got an amazing up lol.
If the performance issues are too bad for you, you could always wait for a PC release...

sadly not.. the fps drops on the demo was meh...
