      7 months after the collision I was in, I’m still confused whether I should get surgery on both knees that still cause level 2-5 pain constant with intermittent shooting pain. My meniscus are still attached. The Dr isn’t communicating what and where the repairs would be exactly and if the tears are likely to heal over time without surgery.

      @TrutherThinkTank I'm having similar issues but only one knee. Are you having any physical therapy in the meantime? I'm doing all this without an attorney and thought the medical community would be more authoritative. But it seems even they may need an attorney or us to tell them what to do. It's quite odd. Hi Stephen, this is quite a difficult question to answer as it depends exactly what surgery or treatment you require. Surgeons and hospitals have different pricing structures for self pay patients so it is best to contact the secretary of the consultant who you would like to see. With regards to physiotherapy treatment prices here is a link to some of the treatments we offer and appointment costs.

    I injured my knee in a soccer game 10 weeks ago. I just started walking straight with very minimal limping. My limping is caused from pain when my leg is in full extension while bearing weight on it. I do PT once or twice a week, I also do strength training on my own in the gym. I think I can heal with no surgery and willing to wait a few more months. It's getting better very slowly.

    I am 27. Slightly above avg athlete. I do trail biking, basketball, and bowling. I hyperextened my right knee lifting something may 2022. I tried to avoid surgery for that. In that time i compensated heavily on my left knee and i ended up tearing that meniscus. I heard the pop when that happened. I tried to limit my activity but i continued to bowl here and there (probably made it worse). Started doing PT november of 2022 till may 2023 and didnt see any improvement. I think I waited to long to take action. I had a bucket handle tear in my medial meniscus got the repair in may 2023 and it failed 2 months later.
    This can be a devastating injury from personal experience.

    Hello! Thank you so much for this video! Very informative because I recently got news of a meniscus tear. It says I have oblique posterior horn tear of the medial meniscus. How do I know if It’s in the red or white zone in terms of healing on its own without surgery? The reporter of the MRI also didn’t put the dimensions of the tear that I can see on my report.

    I’m a mental health nurse. I have suffered with back problems for years and had spinal fusion, so rely on my knees as I can’t bend very far. Approx. 3 months ago after kneeling my right knee started to click every step I took and while laying in bed if I moved the knee. The clicking stopped after a couple of weeks and the pain/dull ache began on the inner part of my right knee. I went to urgent care and after a very quick examination said I have bone on bone arthritis. I’m waiting for a physio apt from work but it’s taking a while and I’m worried I’m doing more damage by walking on it. The pain ramped up tonight so not sure if I’ll make it to work tomorrow. Do you think it’s a meniscus tear or something more serious? I’m male, on the heavy side, 62, but my knees have been without issues apart from bursitis in my 20s. Many thanks.

    I have questions. I have meniscus tear verified by MRI.
    What do I do if I aggravate the meniscus and have pain?
    How do I prevent aggravating the meniscus?
    Does the meniscus tear heal or repair if I practice physical therapy for long time like 3 months?
    What actions would aggravate the meniscus?

    • @CompletePhysio
      @CompletePhysio  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, Thank you for your questions. If you have aggravated your knee pain, you should rest it and ice it, and seek advice on taking appropriate pain relief medication. If your symptoms don't start to settle after a few days then I would suggest that you see professional advice from a Physiotherapist, sports doctor or your GP.
      Activities that tend to aggravate the meniscus are things like deep squats, twisting and turning movements and side to side or change of direction activities.
      A torn meniscus can settle an heal in time, with patience and physiotherapy - 3-6 months is a good timeframe, but it depends on a number of factors and every individual is different.
      I hope that helps. You can find further information and advice on our website complete-physio.co.uk/what-is-a-meniscal-tear/

    Nooooo. NHS arnt offering repairs. They almost laugh you out when you present the issue to them. They don’t even consider repairing. I had a five year battle, just getting them to entertain an MRI and they even argued with me when I told them I had insurance. I had just turned 40 and had a specific tear sound / experience and the 25 year old physio did no physical assessment, just told me I was old and she signed me off. I asked and asked many many times if it could be repaired? I was told bluntly it can’t be repaired. So people who have insurance and approach a GP are told no can’t be repaired. Even the two consultants I went to, we’re not interested in repairs. Iv asked about cartilage farming, and stem cell treatment from the hip bone, and nobody is interested in this?
