This surgeon has the best diction I've ever heard.
You mentioned that you have their are different types of pessaries and that you may have to try several before you get the correct one, does this mean that you have to pay for the full cost of the treatment each time?
If the plastic wears out, can it be replaced?
Thank you so much for this video. It is the most comprehensive explanation on all types of meniscus tears. I am 66 and tore mine 5 months ago. MRI confirmed tear without arthritis. Have continued with the exercises but had a relapse in December due to one exercise received from the Physio not being appropriate. Once swelling went down resumed again and it has since been improving week by week. Have a consultation arranged with an orthopedic surgeon and physio at the end of February but hope to avoid any such surgical intervention . Many thanks
Thank you for all your expertise and analysis on such a serious injury that has major mental impacts on each patient. You are helping so many people by producing this content. Just a note, please could you not talk over your guest as I found it difficult to understand some of his answers. Many thanks and I’m looking forward to the next episode!
Guy with sweater interrupts too much. Your questions are good, but let the surgeon finish his answer.
I was misdiagnosed for more than 3 weeks so had to have surgery eventually and am now 6 weeks in the vacoped boot
I looked around and there was no one near enough to have touched me, and while I puzzled about it I was in the act of putting my foot down only to feel as if I was just sinking and sinking
What about when doing it on a single leg becomes too easy? Then what?
Your podcast is helpful, but not everyone can afford physical therapy or pay someone to help them. You just keep going back but you need to hire somebody but not everybody can do that.
Is it possible to get a similar episode but on non-operative treatment of an Achilles rupture ?
Going thru that route currently. Just started week 4.
Yes! We will put that in the planner! We shoot once every month or so
@completephysio i had justgot my diagnosed today 😢to know i teared my ligaments of knee meaning ACL swelling bruised badly and now am strapped by hospital bandage and knee kills with alot pain ordered brace knee i dont want to go underknife for reconstruction for ACL! Any way to make it heal if not then surgery then have no choice
absolutely great inbformation here, thanks, really great video thanks for the tips, so when I finally read the updated version that Mario Volpstein pcame up with, it was the rock hard feeling that suddenly shocked my whole body into a state I forgot was possible, yeah really super charged and ready to go, goolging what he put up
❤
மகிழ்ச்சி வாழ்த்துகள் 💐🔥👏😊
Bottom was tucked and the upper was overlap. Does the middle part overlap or does that get tucked in?
My 10c worth… If you accidentally put weight on your foot at an angle it’s not ready for then you’ve messed it all up right there and will need surgery and start all over again. I know🤪 Just don’t take your boot off if you can at all help it before 8 weeks then afterwards be very very bloody careful. I’ve used Physio tape to prevent going past my current range while out of the cast after 10 weeks. Accidents happen!. Use a shower cast cover to avoid rerupture from accidental positions while showering. Wear the cast in bed avoiding using the night type open brace which isn’t fail proof. Always make sure your boot Velcro straps are locked down before you stand on it. When you start adjusting the adjustable locking screws always make sure they’re locked and in the right place before you stand on it. If you make one mistake you cannot take that back and the outcome will be worse, definitely different, likely surgery.
Hello it’s Kylie here
Not answering the question just narration eg question what you do for surgery You keep talking about netball Should have been cut open the effected part how What you after that How u stitch Ect etc
I had one, but I refused to have it inserted again because it was so painful when the nurse removed it. She said she pulled it out quickly so it wouldn't hurt so much, but I was sore for a few days. She said, "i needed a bit larger one." I thought it would hurt much more to remove if it was larger.
Such a good discussion thank you. I’ve been putting this off for 3 years - so concerned, but my world has gotten toooooo small at this point
operation only fail becouse of greed in the system and coruption the faster it brakes ,they make more money, the tecnology is verry good now surgery should last forever, stop the greed and coruption.
Having picked up a knee injury in the Scottish Highlands this has been a very useful video. I've returned to playing real tennis after six weeks or so and now have a knee brace. It certainly provides support but I also echo your comments about the brace simply reminding you about taking care.
True Medical Massage therapy to decompress soft tissue and also neuromuscular therapy. Hopefully physical therapists take the initiative to learn it. It's included in the orthopedic medicine model in all of Eastern Europe. Much pain comes myofascial can be effectively addressed with Science of Massage Institute therapists
I fell on both knees 3 times in 4 mos, medial meniscus tear and medial aspect of knee is bone on bone, lateral meniscus worn done but still ok. Cortisone injection lasted about 3 pain comes and goes. Stairs are a killer. I also have fibromyalgia/myofascial pain with a lot of trigger points in that knee. Have been trying quad strengthening exercises but they flare up the fibro. Terrible to get old.
Can anyone share updates on their healing journey from a TFCC injury? Specifically: How long did it take to recover? What precautions helped speed up recovery?
How long it take this to heal?
Typically 8-9 months some people recover in 6 months
This just happened to me... like they were saying, I was playing 6-a-side football,,, and it happened at about the 4th game or so upon returning from several years of not playing... I'm having a fair amount of pain in my calf, which makes me wonder if it's more of a calf muscle tear... I'll be going to see the Ortho doc here in a day or two... 43 years old.
Didn’t hear the pop but he is correct
I can not walk like that because the legs are at different heights
🎯 Key points for quick navigation: 00:00 *🏥 Introduction to Shoulder Replacements* - Shoulder replacements are a surgical option primarily for arthritis, involving replacing the ball and socket of the shoulder joint. - Materials used include ceramic, metal, and plastic combinations. - Essential requirement: intact and functional rotator cuff for successful outcomes. 01:09 *🔄 Anatomical Shoulder Replacement* - Involves replacing the shoulder joint with a ball and socket similar to natural anatomy. - Suitable for patients with intact rotator cuffs and standard joint conditions like arthritis. - Aims to restore normal shoulder function and alleviate pain caused by arthritis. 03:05 *🔄 Reverse Shoulder Replacement* - Reverses the ball and socket configuration, beneficial when rotator cuffs are compromised. - Utilizes the deltoid muscle for stabilization and movement instead of the rotator cuff. - Ideal for patients with severe arthritis and significant bone loss. 05:37 *🔍 Considerations and Outcomes* - The choice between anatomical and reverse replacements depends on the condition of the rotator cuff. - Both types aim to reduce pain significantly but may not fully restore pre-arthritic range of motion. - Long-term durability data for shoulder replacements is still evolving, unlike hip and knee replacements. Made with HARPA AI
How many from all you have done got infected? Mine was infected almost a year. I have antibiotic spacer at the moment. Pain feels kike arm was run over by a car. Waiting on reverse replacement to finish up 2 stage surgery. My infection is C Acnes.
Thank You! 🌹
What a fantastic knowledgeable and informative video. Thank you so much. I am 71 and being offered an ankle fusion but after listening to this I think I need a replacement. It will go with my collection of replacements- both knees, left hip and two right shoulder replacements - one which failed and needed revising .
i had TAR 2 years ago. now it has loosened and there is no good solution for this problem. it was very bad decision
Thank you - this was so helpful. The best thing I’ve seen on it. ruptured a week ago. And treating it conservatively via the NHS. Got it into equine within 4 hours. Knew immediately what it was. But wish I’d known about equine straight away. Hopefully all will be well. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
When I was A child I was hit by a car and couldn't walk for a while since then i've had lower back pain my whole adult life which is worse in the morning, could the accident have caused this?
This is the best and most comprehensive explanation I’ve experienced. I’m 71 and damaged my knee nine weeks ago. I had done a gym session earlier in the day, didn’t notice anything untoward but sometime during the night/early hours in bed, I awoke in extreme (10/10) pain. I thing I twisted my knee turning in bed having perhaps weakened it earlier in the gym? A scan, x-Ray and MRI (on NHS) three weeks later showed fraying of the meniscus due to age degeneration. My fault for delaying diagnosis as I thought I knew everything and that it would heal quickly. Anyway, upshot nine weeks later is that the pain has finally dissipated, I’m doing some light work in the gym - bike, rowing (10 mins each at light resistance) resistance machines and just this week some loose weights. I probably didn’t keep off it enough during the first crucial weeks so that has delayed improvement. I have no cartilage in the other knee following sports injury 45 years ago. I’m confident I’ll get back to how I was before the injury. Thank you both so much - I’ve learned a great deal. James
I’d never be able to get off the floor 😂
Hi i been in agony for months...physio sending me for an xray ...and she was talkin about this injection.. i hope i get it...here i am watching middle of night as i cant sleep with shooting pain😢
How much strength is lost with a reverse replacement?
Good question. Didn’t even think of this. 👍
You’re saying only 10-15 yrs? 😬
I'm so annoyed with my physiotherapist. They gave me a crutch that can only be used on my injured side (Moulded hand grip). They offered no advice when I said I can't walk like this "it normal to feel pain" even 6 weeks after fracturing my leg? "Yes, perfectly normal" 😤 Worse of all, they gave me the standard boot that was causing me agony (no air/vacuum boot offered, despite asking for one) ☹️ Now, two days after using the crutch on the opposite side the pain is starting to ease, and I'm able walk more than 10 metres without feeling pain. I'm so disappointed with the NHS (UK) They really let me down, and delayed my recovery by at least a month, and I've not been able to work all this time 😔
I just had my meniscus repaired, I did mine climbing down a ladder etc
Hello, I'm 58, got my achilles tendon ruptured by trying to hold my motorcycle, while it was falling aside. Ultrasonic imaging while moving the foot showed nice closing of the gap in plantar flexion. I got a soft cast with ~20° the next day and a VacoPed 30° on day 4. Now I got two different opinions from different doctors, conservative vs repair. I strongly tend for conservative. Is there a video on the rehab plan from week1 with a VacoPed?
Hello, i acutely ruptured the achilles tendon and the doctor gave me the wrong VacoCast (0° plantar flexion) instead of the correct VacoPed with 30° (ballerina :(
this is a terribly poor visual beneficial video !
Great advice! I'm week 3 after achilles tendon surgery but unlike many others mine was cut open and completely severed by a garden gate. My question is will recovery be different? Also wearing the boot at night i have been getting an extremely painful burning on top of my foot and toes is this something I should be concerned about? I try loosening the straps, but it still happens. Also my injured legs circulation is so bad my leg is purple and blotchy.
Fantastic video, very interesting and informative. Only question I've missed is if there is an age that you are too old to do the procedure. I'm talking about someone who is 85 years old. He was very active in his youth and can still walk without cane or rollator but not too long distances and it is always slightly painful. When it becomes too aggravating he takes a painkiller. This procedure might provide him some additional quality years.
Jarrod I need your help? I’m trying to rehab myself on what I believe a partial rupture. No surgery just heel wedges, don’t smoke don’t drink and I’m 37 years old
I'm scheduled tomorrow to be fitted for this procedure. I have a uterine bladder prolapse. After watching this video, I feel optimistic about my appointment. Thank you❤
Thanks a lot that's very helpful
