"In a row?" is possibly one of the best punchlines to a joke I ever heard in a movie.
I'm a gen X guy who lived in a satellite town near a big city, worked small jobs like that growing up and listened to grunge/metal. When this film came out we were all like, 'oh shit, a whole film which is just like, a day in our lives.' Whatever people think of Smith now or his work, he always remains a hero of indie cinema to me.
Before you watch “Clerks 2” you need to watch the other Kevin Smith movies in order. “Mallrats”, “Chasing Amy”, “Dogma” and “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” are all related with characters that all know each other.
I worked in a crappy little video store when this movie came out. Randal became my hero. He got to do and say everything I always wanted to do and say to the customers.🤣
I highly recommend watching the rest of the "View Askewniverse" movies. And in order. Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks 2, and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. Clerks 3 comes out this month.
The reason that they created the reason that the shutters had to be closed with the gum in the locks is Kevin Smith(Silent Bob) was working in the day time at the convenience store and filming at night there. So you did't know that it was pitch black when they were filming they just kept the shutters down all the time. The outside scenes were shut during the day when it wasn't during his shifts working at the store.
This film is brilliant and the start of a great journey. Wait until you see Dogma.... that's one of the greatest Smith films...
"the customer is always right -in matters of taste-" its not supposed to mean the customer is right about any whim or complaint, its meant to be followed in terms of demand, if you have a product no one wants, the customers have dictated that it should be taken off the market, it doesnt mean that karen can pitch a fit because you refused to take her expired cupons
We all need a little Randall and Jay in our lives
Black and white wasn’t an artistic choice; it was all Kevin Smith could afford.
The brilliant part about Dante and Randall is how deep the characters actually are written
Clerks is almost 30 years old and it remains just as funny and relevant today. This was Kevin Smith's first and arguably his best film. Great reaction guys, thanks for sharing!💯
I loved this... I really hope this is the start of a Kevin Smith journey... Dogma and Mallrats are just national treasures!
I was raised on this joint, as I’m a Millennial with a Gen X parent. It’s kinda wild to me how timeless the basic story ages; just a day in the lives of two young retail workers. If you’ve ever worked in retail service, it’s realer than you think lmao. The scene about stupid customers will never not be hilarious.
This film has a special place fir me as Kevin is only a year younger than me and it was shot less than 20 miles from my house growing up. My brother-in-law moved to an apartment a few blocks away around that time.
The dialogue, the humor, the realness it’s all chefs kiss!! Must watch Clerks 2 now!!
I hope Kevin Smith (Director\Silent Bob) sees this reaction. You guys hit the nail on the head with your reaction at the end. It's such a well made movie considering it had a shoestring budget and was Kevin Smith's first movie. Love the movie, love the reaction
I think your laughter made for excellent commentary. I really enjoyed this reaction. I hope you do more Kevin Smith films. 😁
When this came out, I had just gotten out of the military. I was working two jobs; one in a convenience store, the other in an adult video store. This movie SPOKE to me.
Do all of Kevin Smith's Jersey movies.
