Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back will explain the Monkey. Merry Christmas guys
"just like Winnie the Pooh"
Snoochie boochie noochies
"You will not spank the monkey. The monkey will spank you!"
"Flee Fat-ass. Flee!" - Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back...A MUST watch!
And the girl who died swimming is the same as the one Randal and Dante go to the funeral for in clerks, Kevin smith loves to connect his movies to each other.
Kevin Smith’s first five movies are so good. One of the best things is finding the connections. Like the girl they talk about who died swimming is the same girl whose funeral was in Clerks.
All 3 of the clerks movies are good and worth watching. Especially 2
My youngboy I was working with put me on to Kevin Smith in 2002, he gave me all the VHS tapes, bcuz he got all his movies on DVD & that was my 1st time binging movies !!!
If you have never heard of the short lived Clerk's cartoon, you didn't miss out on much. However, there is a side project of that cartoon that is definitely worth viewing. They animated an extra cartoon showing us what really happened involving Dante & Randall at the funeral culminating in how the casket was knocked over.
@@complex314i I thought they covered that in 'Chasing Amy' ??? Dante or Randall leaned on the casket, knocked it over, & had to haul azz outta there !!!
@@SMOOV_726 they went to the funeral, Randal wanted to go back to the car, Dante tossed him the keys and they fell in the casket. they made a huge scene trying to get them back which resulted in Randal knocking over the casket
I was literally a "Mallrat" in this era. High school kids who don't have places to hangout, but they still wanna be with their gf/bf and their circle of friends makes a mall the perfect place to be. You can sit around, walk around, eat a meal or just snack in mall. In the winter is warm, in the summer it's cool. In the 90's there were arcades in a time when consoles games didn't hold a candle to the graphics and me and I'm sure thousands of people have spent hours gaming in the mall. Luckily I lived about 2 miles away, so, yeah I WAS DEFINITELY A MALLRAT.
Hope this means we'll eventually get a Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back reaction. Great one guys, one of my fav movies. Merry Christmas!
I hope so
And Dogma!
@steffurness only if the can find a used DVD copy. Harvey Weinstein owns it and has it locked down. The only Kevin Smith movie you can't get anywhere.
@@Lensmaster1 No need. The whole thing is here on RUclips.
@@Lensmaster1 I have an unopened DVD copy of dogma and the blue ray of Jay and silent Bob strike back... which the boys are welcomed to borrow, there problem solved
Jay and Silent Bob are hands down one of the BEST fictional duos. Like Batman and Robin
Bluntman & Chronic
Fick- shun-all characterz...... am I getting through to you yet?
More like Bluntman and Chronic
Jay and Silent Bob are my favorite of all movie duos.
But they're not that fictional. Those guys really are like that!
You guys had a blast with this one. Chasing Amy is more personal, but it still has crazy laugh moments like this in the first act.
Chasing Amy is great
The "tracing" argument is CLASSIC !!!
BLACK RAGE!!!!
The 3D art work were called MAGIC EYE back those days. They used to have a new one in every Sunday local News Paper in the comics section. Good times. 😁
I couldn't see the images for a long time. It was great when it finally locked in for me.
@@angelagraves865 I've only been able to see the inverse 3D image (i.e., the background appears closest to me.) Never could get that to flip for me.
Loved the Stan Lee cameo in this movie! It's awesome!
And then watch Captain Marvel. Smith had tears of joy seeing it.
I actually met him once, got a picture and autograph from him!
He actually isn't that bad of an actor.
I used to spend a dumb amount of time at my local mall. They were the modern day representation of town squares. A place of true face to face commerce. Now I click a button on a screen and a box shows up at my door. RIP Malls. 😢 🙃
Did you guys know the guy who played Gil was the main character in clerks 😁
you mean main actor. Dante and Gil are cousins. Others Hicks cousins are Jim Hicks seen in Chasing Amy and Grant Hicks the reporter in Dogma.
@@DCFCfanatic 32:05
I hope they see this. Theres no way they could have put that together
Did you guys know that boys have a penis and girls have a vagina? Someone’s dad is a gynaecologist. So they know.
Oh, now you're gonna get it. They're coming for you, and they're going to give you a stern talking-to.
Stan Lee's dream was to be an actor. That's why he was so happy to be in this and in all the Marvel cameos. He even wanted to play Oden in the MCU...but Anthony Hopkins stole the role haha. And while filming his scenes in this movie his managers were telling Kevin Smith to be careful with him cause "Hes an old man and could go any time." Then he lived to be 95 haha
im glad you're watching the theatrical version.
The Movies in order are
Clerks
Mallrats
Chasing Amy
Dogma
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
Clerks 2
Jay and Silent Bob Reboot
Clerks 3
🍕 One of Stan's cameos was reading the script for Mallrats. RIP Stan, love him and all of the Jay and Silent Bob movies.
I know Kevin Smith got some bad rep lately, but his 5 movies between '96 and '01 are an amazing string of movies that I can't get enough of.
what bad rep has he had lately? serious question, ive only ever seen positive stuff about him
I have honestly never heard of Kevin Smith having any bad rep ever
@@Juggernuts I think he gets shit on since the movies he’s made lately aren’t considered as strong as his earlier works!
@@aaronshouting588 This and lately he gets nonstop crap from people who consider having a woman have a significant role in a story to be libcucks.
@Nemesis Prime simping for shitty Disney star wars and raping he man,
You guys are the absolute best!
Thank you for reacting to such an underrated masterpiece!
Merry Christmas!
I always loved how Jay and BobO Ending gets resolved.
🍕 The new editor is doing much better. 🍕 (Merry Xmas, thanks for watching one of my favorites!)
Agreed
Still to this day this is the best Stan Lee cameo
☝️☝️
Congratulations lucky winners I have something for you🎁🎁🎁
Funniest part of Stan Lee’s conversation with Brody is when he claims to have slept with more women than Jagger. Stan Lee was married to his wife Joan for 70 years.
Back in the 90s. When I was a teen. Me & my friends were Mallrats. Oh how I miss those days.
☝️☝️
Congratulations lucky winners I have something for you🎁🎁
Pizza, pizza? Did I just walk into a Little Caesar's?
The new editor was killing it. The Banjo-Kazooie for the Patreons at the end was perfect.
This is one of my favorite movies.
Fun fact: The director's cut found on the recent Mallrats DVD is worth watching as well, since it's almost an entirely different movie. Almost half the movie is completely different, including a major running plot involving a huge comical misunderstanding about a supposed mayoral assassination attempt, that makes the overall structure of the movie drastically different... all of which was cut from the theatrical version of the movie which you watched here, and scenes were entirely reshot to edit around it. The experience between the version that was shot and the final edit are almost night and day, one of the largest changes of a movie i've ever seen and it's honestly quite fascinating.
Got to watch that version - which I didn't know about - since Mallrats is my favorite Kevin Smith movie.
In my mall I had a kb toys right next to a book store that sold comics, directly downstairs from a chik-fil-a that was next to an orange Julius. It was heaven.
🍕
This was the perfect present to end my christmas night!! Thank you so much!!!! God I love this movie!
Merry Christmas to you guys! Was waiting for a Mallrats reaction! This movie is beyond hilarious and super underrated. Jason Lee is the best. His delivery and timing is funny as hell.
hi from Australia 💖classic movie... 🤣I first taped this movie on VHS then got it on DVD🤣
My generation. Love this film.
One of my all time favorite movies, great video
My step daughter was mildly injured on an escalator and didn’t want to tell me because she knew I would reference this movie.
The magic eye 3D images were always easy for me to see for some reason. Really cool how they made them.
☝️☝️
Congratulations lucky winners I have something for you🎁
“FLY FAT ASS, FLY!!!!!”😂
Merry Christmas guys.👍
Merry Christmas, Chris and Curtis! Your reactions are so hilarious thanks to your contagious laughter and sense of humor. Can’t wait to see what next year will bring to your channel!
finally. next should be chasing Amy,dogma and jay and silent bob movie.
Thank god you watched this version too. Way better paced than the extended version.
Going to high school and college in the 90’s we loved Smith’s movies. He wrote some clever and funny dialogue
This editing tho! Good job to whoever edited this.
☝️☝️
Congratulations lucky winners I have something for you🎁🎁🎁
Best Stan Lee cameo, "trust me true believer"
Stan Lee was and always will be a legend. Rest in peace Stan!
Yall crazy as hell for that intro 😂
Thank you :)
☝️☝️
Congratulations lucky winners I have something for you🎁
So you know GIl was played by Brian O'Halloran, but did you realize that his last name is Hicks. They're supposed to be cousins and the gal that died from swimming is the funeral that they go to Clerks. Love the View Askew universe. If you did know, come at me bro! :P
☝️☝️
Congratulations lucky winners I have something for you🎁
“DO IT, DOUG!”
Happy Holidays! ✨ This was good I remember seeing it in the theater when it first came out. Another Kevin Smith classic. FUN FACT: Jeremy London (TS), is also a twin, and his brother is actor Jason London from Dazed and Confused (which you guys should definitely check out).
I swear I thought I remembered one of the Londons offing himself in the 90s. Happy to see not but I don't know why I remember that so strongly.
@@mage1439 no thankfully they're both still with us, and Jeremy's a grandfather believe it or not😲! Many actors from back in the day fell prey to whatever demons they faced, but bravo to the ones who made it out alive, and with their sanity intact.
☝️☝️
Congratulations lucky winners I have something for you🎁🎁
A couple subtle things you may have missed is Julie Dwyer (the girl that died swimming) is the funeral they go to in clerks and Hicks is the last name of Dante from clerks explaining the resemblance.
☝️☝️
Congratulations lucky winners I have something for you
WOOT I LOVE THIS MOVIE
So thankful you did not watch the extended edition. This one is the best.
☝️☝️
Congratulations lucky winners I have something for you🎁🎁
Next up: Chasing Amy . . . . the View Askewniverse is sooooo fullfilling. And Stan Lee LOVES PIZZA while he spoke to his readers in the Bullpen Bulletins.
I was 14 when this movie came out and it was one of my fave comedies for the longest, but it seems like nobody knows about it, ha. So glad to see there's def a following!
This movie is so good lol
My mom watched this reaction with me and I think she just died of laughter🤣🤣🤣🎄🎄🎄your reactions make my day🤘🎬🍻💕
I was a Mallrat in the 80s! We would always spend our Fridays & Saturday nights at the mall hanging out with friends. When I got older I worked in convenience stores and a video store, I had to tell Kevin the first time I met him I was the female version of him lol.
I haven't seen this movie in 20 years and it still makes me giggle like crazy!
Adore the channel, and your humor and can't wait for the next video
Pizza
Kevin Smith is amazing. He was dating Joey Lauren Adams at the time which is how he got to see her undress in the first place. The coat, the grappling gun, the bat helmet are all on exhibit at the Secret Stash
Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
One of my favorite movies ever.
Incidentally, the funeral that Dante and Randall go to in CLERKS (the one where he knocks over the coffin) is the same girl that had the aneurysm in the pool. #ASKEWNIVERSE
I had a whole calendar full of those Magic Eye posters. I could see about half of them. I remember one being a shark.
Kevin Smith's Viewaskewniverse is one of the strangest and funnest universes out there. The girl that is mentioned dying in the pool is the same girl that Dante and Randall went to the funeral for in Clerks. The events of the funeral can be found in a Clerks comic book and it is insane. Dante Hicks is related to Gil Hicks. The actor comes back again as another Hicks cousin in a future movie. Susanne the Orangutan has two stories by Keven Smith. The original story on How J & B fun into her is found within the pages of a comic book. I don't think Kevin Smith knew he was ever going to feature the story in a later movie. But he eventually did. The movie tells the exact same story with minor differences. The next movie in line 'Chasing Amy is a more seriously taken film. Unlike the previous two, it's not out there or crazy. But it does introduce characters that return in later films. J & B are only featured in one scene.
☝️☝️
Congratulations lucky winners I have something for you🎁🎁
How did you guys not realize the utility belt, grappling hook and "where do you get those wonderful toys" line was a reference to Batman 1989??
I love that there's a game show in the middle of the mall.
I used to go to my mall and see Disney shows, Barney, and Tiffany.
Nowadays the only thing to do is go to a Castle Boutique in a strip mall and maybe meet Stormy Daniels.
Jay and silent Bob strikes back. That's the story that explains the orangutan. A must watch!
Yes, I made it to the end! 🍕 Merry Christmas!
omg, I never reached for my phone so fast 😂
I thought my phone went to a certain website.
The guy who played Gill was the main character in Clerks. Now come for me 🤣🤣🤣
👀
Gil was the main character in Clerks.
That was Dante. Same actor different character
@@Akkatlah you havent watched the video huh?
The most absurd part of this movie is Brody not recognizing Stan Lee instantly. 🤣
Oh Oh, the guy who played Gill was the main character in Clerks!!!
I just absolutely love Mallrats, it is so under-rated.
Can't believe you guys didn't know the guy who played that dude was that guy in that movie.
Gil was the guy who played Dante in clerks
I grew up at the Eden Prairie Mall, so many good times! We were the Mallrats just not on the level as Brodie lol. Great reaction! "Breakfast, shmreakfast. Look at the score, for Christ's sake. It's only the second period and I'm up 12 to 2. Breakfasts come and go, Rene, but Hartford, "the Whale," they only beat Vancouver once, maybe twice in a lifetime."
Merry Christmas ❤️
PLEASE keep going down this rabbit hole! Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks II, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and Clerks III. (I think that's all of them)
PIZZA!
Greatest first line in a movie ever.
Man, it made me so happy when I opened YT today and this was the first thing I saw. Love this movie.
Merry Christmas you guys, love your content!! Happy New Year, keep ‘em coming! ❤️
🍕You guys were so hard on Gil...
And he wasn't even supposed to be there today
it was the christmas of 2022 when i learned don’t be a micro pee pee and sub to octokrool. happy holidays bros!
My first and favorite Kevin smith movie.
Y’all watched Clerks right? This is the follow up… also I never saw the sailboat
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is great. You’ll love that one too.
Oh my gosh!!! So glad y'all did this movie. A couple of days ago I showed my wife one of y'all's reactions and she said that y'all remind her of Jay and Silent Bob! I cannot see y'all any other way now! Merry Christmas guys!!!
Oh, You know that guy Gill was in Clerks? Ha ha ha!!!!
This movie was hilarious
The guy who played Gil also plays Dante in the Clerks movies. 😎
Aww how I would love to brag but won't as the Stories I have of knowing "Kevin Smith" before he became something oh man! Great Movie Second Favorite First being "1997 Chasing Amy" which I was and extra in it.
Gil Hicks was one of Dante's relatives, Broadie was one of Randall's cousins and Mallrats was set a few days prior to Clerks.
Merry Christmas 🎄 Chris and Curtis hope everyone is doing great during the holidays much love ❤
There's an extended Directors Cut of this movie that explains more of the history of the characters problems that are mentioned in this movie in greater detail.
The directors cut sucks. Most of the added scenes were boring and pointless
☝️☝️
Congratulations lucky winners I have something for you
The image w/ the hidden 3D sailboat is called an Autostereogram. They were pretty popular in the 90s. Of course I was one of the unfortunate few who could never see anything.
Merry Christmas!
And thanks for a fun reaction to classic :)
In Captain Marvel Stand Lee does a cameo where he is reading he script for this movie
Just wanted to let you all know, it's actually NOT a sailboat in the picture!
I was gonna say same thing. Just some shapes.
RIP Shannen Doherty (1971-2024)
This is a great movie it’s very re watchable. Jason Lee is awesome lol
Yes, Jay and Silent Bob we need more
During Stan Lee's cameo in Captain Marvel, which takes place in the 90's, he's reading the script for Mallrats
Pizza
Its in post production but they are making Twilight of the Mallrats! Some things should be left alone.... Great Reaction.
Merry Christmas guys. Enjoy some pizza and soda.
Also, hopefully you eventually get to Chasing Amy and Dogma. Both also great movies with Jay and Silent Bob.
☝️☝️
Congratulations lucky winners I have something for you🎁🎁🎁
Merry Christmas Chris and Curtis. Kevin Smith is a genius, I hope you finish his filmography. RIP to Stan Lee. He may be gone but his spirit will live on forever. 🙏
☝️☝️
Congratulations lucky winners I have something for you🎁🎁🎁
I grew up going to the mall where this was filmed. The sets looked even cheaper in real life. The mall had a lot of empty space at the time. They have since done a huge renovation and it looks completely different.
