Thanks for this show, it's very useful to look at a game before you decide! I can't call myself a true Metal Gear fan, since I haven't played the best games according to people, 2, 3, 4 and all the portable ones, but I played 1 and 5 and I enjoyed them. I really liked Metal Gear 5 for the gameplay, and I also like the setting, that "Everything for the Boss"-mentality and the salutes and all, love it.
I'll probably buy this, but I'll wait a little while!
To any new viewers watching this video, if you haven’t bought the game I highly recommend you do. This review and the comment do the game absolutely no justice and don’t give it the credit it deserves, it is actually a very good game despite what people may say

This game was surprisingly good, from what I've noticed, a lot of people have only explored the Afghanistan area of the game, and the first map of the game in general, instead of actually exploring more, and completing a lot of the missions, until you get to the better parts of the game, I strongly believe people just hate the game, just because it's not Metal Gear Solid, thought provoking codec calls, spy stuff, and the character's stamina doesn't run out really fast, that only happens when you're in the Dust, since the atmosphere makes it harder to breathe, hence making stamina run out fast, this game is nothing like MGS 5, it actually lets you start from nothing, and gradually build up something of a base, you can craft, upgrade, and even farm food, as well as catch rain water to drink, which is realistic in a survival setting, this game is pretty good, and frankly it doesn't deserve the rep it's gotten from reviewers and gamers alike, because it's pretty fun, and trippy, maybe not strong as far as story goes, but the gameplay, and adventure is certainly there, also if you're just starting out in the game, you will want for the area to be barren, if you want to get supplies, because those monsters are relentless in killing you, once you go into the dust, outside of the safe zone, ya know, the barren wasteland?
This game's pretty interesting, and well worth the price, because it's certainly quite long for a game, I'm currently on the second map in the game, and I like it so far, and the cut scenes are surprisingly good. Set aside the Kojima / Konami drama, and let this game determine if you like it or not, you know how the saying goes, " Don't judge a book by its cover " especially when you're just watching biased reviews from other RUclipsrs who are still in the beginning of the game in their reviews. Lol

+Willz 33 It matters because Metal Gear is a long lasting series, with defined and beloved characters and has a certain playstyle. People rightfully expect certain things of a MGS game, such as Big Boss, stealth, epic bossfights, etc., because those are things that made the series popular in the first place. DoomGuy on the other hand, even tho an iconic symbol, is a generic character with no face or personality. He's there to hold the guns and that's about it. Everyone just cares about shooting things in the face in doom, and that is still what you do in Doom 4 or the reboot. MGS Survive took out the iconic characters and turned the stealth gameplay into a base-building simulator and a zombie survival game. It has nothing to do with the series. It's basically a spin-off, standalone DLC for $40 (+ $10 for each additional character slot).
It's like if CDPR made a new Witcher game, where you don't play as Geralt or any of the established characters and it's not even an RPG, but a zombie survival game. Then slap the Witcher logo on it and call it a day. Would that not matter?

I really love Jake's reviews. I do think though that he could have been more critical here especially on the save slot microtransaction. That is one of the most blatant attempts at pulling extra money out of the buyer who's already paid sixty dollars! It's a basic gaming function for god's sake.

I just want a game that is survival, building stuff, and fighting zombies, would you guys recommend this game?
Yeah, it *does* get better when you get into it a bit. I for one did not mind running around looking for food, because that's just par for the course when it comes to survival game and I knew this well before buying it. And I don't know about you guys, but I actually liked to wander the vast, imposing world clinging on to the hope that I would find something to let me stay alive. Fighting against entropy is what survival is all about and I certainly felt like I was persevering through it. Then when I got to the point where I could stay alive easier because I learned how to make farms and better foods and understood what you can eat, like gerbils and berries, then it felt rewarding. I felt like nothing had been handed to me and isn't that what survival is about? Oh and one more thing, please, ignore the vast majority who keeps claiming that you're just standing behind a fence poking at zombies. That just isn't true. There's actually more CQC moves than in MGS5 and there's multiple weapons classes, classes, and firearms too, with gadgets like molotovs, decoys, and mannable turrets to help you out. Only time I ever needed to defend with a fence was during digs, teleporter activations, or the few base defense missions. Not sure why people keep forgetting that.

It's simple really. It's a bad Metal Gear and the devs know it. If it's always online, it probably won't be cracked. Since it has Metal Gear in the name, fans of the series will want to play it anyway. Because they can't pirate it, they'll have to buy it.

Eventually they said "fuck it" and removed the last unfinished levels and released it. That pissed him off because he's a fucking diva who thinks that it all revolves around him.
So after stewing for a while, he quit or was let go.
Short version,Becuase his methods costed them way more money and he also wanted phatom pain to be the closure of MG franchise...they wanted to milk it even more

I feel like people that have say this are just the people who have either not played the game at all or has played about 15 minutes of it. The only reason this game gets hate is because it is only konami who has made it. Let's actually put our bias aside and just be glad you even have video games, don't be a selfish prick, some people out there don't have the money to get the game nonetheless a consul to play it on. Just enjoy what you got and don't complain. At this point the whole Metal Gear community has become a group of selfish pricks.

I’ve never played any Metal Gear Solid games and never paid attention to the franchise. I bought this game cause I like survival games and everyone says this game sucks but I love this game. So if to true fans this game sucks then I will probably love the actual metal gear solid games
I haven’t played the game myself but from what I’ve seen it looks to be some fun, but the reason why people hate the game isn’t really the gameplay itself. ( which is only part of the reason ) More so the things that came to the games creation.
Also I’d recommend playing the other games in the series 1000%. They’re the most well polished and story driven games you will see in a while, and in my opinion they will stand as the most enjoyable series for a very long time.

We understand people and companies go their separate ways, but not letting him accept an award for the last entry in his series? That was fucked up and they need to be punished for that. Gaming companies are getting too bold these days and we gamers need to take a stand. And that means treating our developers with some damn respect! Hideo Kojima has given us some of the best games in gaming history and needs to be treated as such!

And I can tell you that at least from mgs 1-3 it is 60-70% cutscenes. Have you even played Mgs1-3 by skipping all of the long codec calls and cinematics? Yo won't even bulge 3 hours of gameplay, kid. How is that good game design?
And don't get me started on mgs4. Even kojima admitted that 60% of the game's data is just uncompressed audio. Not to mention that he even admitted to taken a full year just to make that gekko intro. That's just shameful from a developer's perspective.
And you don't need me to tell you the gameplay/cinematics ratio of mgs4, right?
Mgsv was a pile of half assed and uninspiring garbage for what it mas marketed and hyped to be. Repetive and boring missions, lackluster story line(not to mention unfinished), overly dramatic dialogue, terrible AI, bland open world environment, bland mother base environment, boring enemies, bland and generic mother base soldiers, no unique ness at all. Mgsv's chapter 2 is literally a copy and paste of chapter 1 in most it's main missions.

I feel this game would be doing a lot better if Konami has just named it something else and left the only ties between this game and Metal gear being the Fox engine. As is they tried to exploit the Metal gear name and it backfired hard.

I might add that while I was unable to buy any of the in game currency it did reward me some as a daily log in bonus, so perhaps given n o entry in xbox store that perhaps it is a earn via play currency perhaps with a later option to buy it.
So the start of the game for me was ruff, in fact the entire story seamed like a huge tutorial, though the end game is cool, it had some nice plot twists that I enjoyed, and the game play consistently got better.
So at the start I didn't like it but after pushing on further it turned into a pretty fun game that I enjoyed and was glad to have.
Multi player should have been implemented better though

Played all the MGS! Big fan of the series and I must say, I was on the hate train. But looked past that and gave it a chance. Now I’m super addicted and all I think about is playing it!

Yep, that and.... I've played alot of survival games already. I'm not looking for a boring metal gear themed variant of stuff I've played before.
Not sure how I feel about the story mode although it has depth and interesting mechanics, the hunger and thirst features are really annoying but the injury aspects are really cool and they take me back to MGS3 which was a bit nostalgic.

From the very beginning, I thought it looked like a decent game. However, I'm still upset that it's taking place in the Metal Gear Universe. I'm curious as to whether or not there's a clause that states that the Fox Engine can only be used for Metal Gear games, and if that's the case, it's a damn shame because that program is incredible.
Konami used the Fox Engine for some PES titles but now that they're switching over Unreal Engine it seems like Fox Engine is going to be forgotten without a proper mgs3 remake :(

Apparently, they will be releasing more modes and difficulty levels next month, so there's that, I guess? Not too keen on wave defense. I don't mind horde mode where you have to just keep surviving as long as possible, but wave defense bores me.There are enough enemy types in the game to make a waveless survival mode too, so I don't see why they didn't launch with one.

I really appreciated it after learning they wouldn't hold your hand. Following the lights and forcing you to actually remember landmarks was a huge seller for me. I enjoy a survival game set in the Fox Engine.
Especially after about 5-6 hours of play. You understand how the game works at this point.

Why would they buy it? Kojima is done with the series. He doesnt want to make any more of them. MGS died with MGSV and it cant be revived anymore. No matter who you give it to, it wont be the same.
