My theory, is that MGSV is deliberately bloated with filler, so that Hideo had cover to spend time polishing the parts of the game he actually cared about.
He also asked for additional funding 4 times. Instead of making the game he was afforded to make with the initial budget.. Can't feel bad for someone like that. Even more so after Kojima sent Konami goons to take Hayter to lunch to tell him he wasn't coming back for the role... and then made Hayter pay for his own lunch. @@redfoxrpg
@theonewhoplays3819 Yup. David talked about it himself. He was of course much nicer about it toward both the Konami suits and Kojima than I was. But once I heard that from him, all respect for Kojima as a person was lost anyway. So idgaf.
As for mission 45. I am pretty sure this tank™ is able to shoot through walls. I literally wouldn't have beaten this mission if I didn't swallow my gamer pride and started spamming air strikes.
I beat mgs 1, 2 substance, 3 subsistence, and rising but never played 4 and waiting for a possible pc port. Is mgsv worth my money? I think it's on sale
If you were going to only do things Solid Snake can do in MGS1, CQC would cause a failure. CQC wasn't introduced into the series until MGS3, and Solid Snake never even used his CQC training until MGS4 (with a throwaway line that he just never bothered to use it in the previous four games he appeared in, for no particular reason). However, you can do his deadly punch-punch-spin kick combo!
Ah yeah, someone mentioned the CQC thing, probably missed out on some interesting antics that I would’ve had to use in place of CQC, but I know for the future. Who knows, I might redo this challenge for some kind of subscriber milestone years down the line lol
@@redfoxrpg I don't blame you. MGSV is basically built around CQC, it's hard to make it through the game without accidentally punching a Russian soldier in the face. Great video though, I hope you get the subscribers!

Aw thanks! I appreciate the kind words, and my next video, a couple of D&D homebrew videos, have recently started production! Hopefully I can put this talent to use and entertain you
I have a tip for you on Traitor's Caravan. Go to where the truck is stationed before it even moves, once the Skulls cutscene plays, IMMEDIATELY run to the entrance of Nova Braga Airport (where the watch tower is), the Skulls will teleport in front of you and IMMEDIATELY run back to the truck and fulton it (you can fulton stuff in this challenge right?). Once you're done with that just exfiltrate or call a helicopter, yes the Skulls will chase you but you can just juke them.
After watching Mitten Squad for YEARS, this dudes challenge isn’t even a challenge. Paul would have made this challenge a special Hell for himself and still would have completed it.
Fun fact: if you beeline it toward the oil field in the first Africa mission, you glitch the game and it ends up putting you in the refinery after you shut down the machinery to escape. I have no idea why this happens though.
Pretty sure that's only a thing on PC. Never seen it happen on console though...well at least on the Playstations systems. Not sure about Xbox systems.
What a great video, I’m definitely excited to see more, although I’m happy for you to skip a quiet exit for most runthroughs, that level is pain without the parasite suit
The minigun on the helicopter I'm not even going to say that you can't use it because it's a vehicle mounted turret which he did use at the end of Metal Gear Solid 1
Right, I totally forgot about it since it was right at the end after the Liquid fight, but I’m glad it’s there so that I’m at least covered on that one thing lol

True, but she also spends a portion of the fight controlled by Mantis, so between having her as an ally and having her as an additional enemy, I just called it an even split and decided not to do allies on the run, but that’s just my logic on it
A Quiet Exit can be made a fair bit easier by going up to the hill at the back left of the ruins (if facing it from desert side), big ol rock for cover and far enough back that Quiet can take out foot guys while you can still hit tanks EDIT: you did hide there once but moving left and right makes it significantly easier to avoid damage, peeking same side just means that tank is gonna target that peek
If you get the dlc or upgrade to the definitive edition, you could maybe do runs for Eva and the boss just playing as a female soldier. I think thatd be cool
Honestly love the vid, but half the game had to be you running to run from objective to objective which was probably the hardest part of the Challenge and next time you do one of these lower the level of your weapon or something to add extra spice to it
for the oilfield mission, there's actually a glitch to get there faster, if you happen to go right and travel towards it in the open field, about the time you cross a puddle of water, the game will trigger the cutscene in the oilfield and instantly teleport you inside the facility.
although it’s definitely a bit much if you’re not good at the game already, but solid can’t crouch walk(not until mgs4 at least), doesn’t have reflex mode, and doesn’t use cqc techniques(again, until mgs4). i think those mechanical restrictions would add a lot to the challenge and it’s accuracy

I don’t even remember how I use to beat it, but the last time before the challenge, I remembered it being not that bad, so I had my guard lowered for this one… we shall weep together, brother…

Rocket punch (blast) would probably be a better replacement for the Nikita but would violate the rules of the challenge I guess. It would also be possible without fultons but very difficult - the extraction chopper can take soldiers. By the way fuck you for doing a max volume jumpscare that's some basic shit but I still respect the time and effort that went into the video.

The true Metal Gear Solid experience is 'On Site Procurement' for your weapons and items. The first game you only started with a pack of cigs that Snake smuggled in... and that's it. All other weapons and equipment were gotten on the site of Shadow Moses Island. :P I'm saying that in a joking manner partially because I don't know what you can get from just scavenging around in this game.
@@redfoxrpg Don't actually do it if you don't want to. I was just saying that as a joke... partially at least. If the game does have items and weapons you can scavenge then give it a try. If it does not, other than missile launcher, then do not. Honestly, that type of thing is more fun in games like Hitman or Dishonored where the developers actually place a decent few items on the maps you can use in the missions themselves.
I think using the minigun is fine, it's a rail shooter session which MGS1 has at the end of the game as well. Your reasoning is also fine, add both together and it's all good for all I care.

My theory, is that MGSV is deliberately bloated with filler, so that Hideo had cover to spend time polishing the parts of the game he actually cared about.
My heart goes out to Kojima if that’s the case, Konami always crackin the whipe
He also asked for additional funding 4 times. Instead of making the game he was afforded to make with the initial budget.. Can't feel bad for someone like that. Even more so after Kojima sent Konami goons to take Hayter to lunch to tell him he wasn't coming back for the role... and then made Hayter pay for his own lunch. @@redfoxrpg
@@macdaddymario wait, are you actually being serious about that lunch thing?
@theonewhoplays3819 Yup. David talked about it himself. He was of course much nicer about it toward both the Konami suits and Kojima than I was. But once I heard that from him, all respect for Kojima as a person was lost anyway. So idgaf.
@@macdaddymario jeeeeez. You know where i can find that?
Snake kills a child miller: “AMAZING mission complete 👏👏👏👏 that’s why your the best boss”
“THE ONE AND ONLY”😂
So while snake never used a minigun on a helicopter in MGS1, he used a mounted gun on a vehicle in the climax of the game. So close enough
As for mission 45.
I am pretty sure this tank™ is able to shoot through walls.
I literally wouldn't have beaten this mission if I didn't swallow my gamer pride and started spamming air strikes.
FUCK THAT TANK! TOGETHER WE SHALL OBLITERATE IT AND BRING THE SOVIETS TO THEIR KNEES, MY BROTHER! Also, love the trademark lmao
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes mgs 5 more runs baby

I actually thought you were a big RUclipsr before I saw the clicks 😮
That’s actually a major confidence booster, thanks dude!
Oh my god, same
"Youre not the Boss,are ya??"
I didn't find it weird that this video was recommended but when you mentioned Baki I realized that's why and not because if metal gear
Baki is my SHIT, so I guess the algorithm was like “oh, that’s that Baki guy, push his shit to Baki enjoyers”
Paper Cog Liquid: Shield Guy is my favorite installment in the MGS series.
Shield Guy: the Man Who Sold the World
@@redfoxrpg Honestly, I'd want to see a Shield Guy challenge. Sneak with the ballistic shield and a pistol and not get detected.
you do actually have access to a jeep during the end sequence of mgs1
I didn’t end up counting that for using vehicles, but oddly end, that section DOES clear me for using Pequod’s minigun
Mah Man.
How did I only discover this Channel today?
This was hella entertaining.
And for the record, I personally think that chapter one is enough for one Video
It's not as much work and more fun for you so I see it as a win-win (If you want to make another one like this)
Enough rambling, you've earned my sub 🤙
Thanks my dude, really appreciate the kind feedback and I’m glad you liked the video!
Watched up until the ear destroying screeching.
That's the end of looking into this channel.
This is genuinely great, i love the concept, as i had done a challenge similar to this one but stopped at chapter 1, I'd love to see more of this game, the more ridiculous the restrictions the better, and i doubt im the only one. Keep it up.
Some people have suggested some pretty insane stuff, and my Skyrim/Fallout videos have pretty crazy challenges. Thanks for watching, my guy!
Aight time to replay all of MGSV again
MA MAN!
Haha that's exactly what I feel like doing after this
This is an incredible video man, you’re really talented. I can’t believe you don’t have more subscribers. Definitely will check out your other stuff, already looking forward to your next video.
Aw thanks! I appreciate the kind words, and my next video, a couple of D&D homebrew videos, have recently started production! Hopefully I can put this talent to use and entertain you
That stupid tank in A Quiet Exit is the bane of my existence.
Well, you know what they say: misery enjoys company…
I have a tip for you on Traitor's Caravan.
Go to where the truck is stationed before it even moves, once the Skulls cutscene plays, IMMEDIATELY run to the entrance of Nova Braga Airport (where the watch tower is), the Skulls will teleport in front of you and IMMEDIATELY run back to the truck and fulton it (you can fulton stuff in this challenge right?). Once you're done with that just exfiltrate or call a helicopter, yes the Skulls will chase you but you can just juke them.
That’s exactly what I did in my Raiden challenge, thanks for the tip though, I love learning new tricks for this game so many years later!
How do you only have 100 views with this kind of editing? You deserve like 100k
I don’t know, but maybe if I keep at it, more and more people will come and enjoy!

As a non metal gear player, to this day I still don’t know the differences between big boss, venom, liquid and solid snake
First one is a dude, second is his stunt double, third is his recessive trait clone, fourth is his dominant trait clone

It’s definitely popping off from 62 to nearly 400, hope you stick around and become a regular!
You know what MGS1 didn't have? Time slowing down on detection. Run it back 😂
Might actually do a “Can You Beat MGSV with MGS1 Rules” run or something in the future
Bro this is awesome I just started playing mgsv for the 3rd time and wanted some entertainment. Glad you made this video
Good looking out, and good taste with that 3rd playthrough
There are parts of mgs1 with buddy’s notably the meria shootout so one mission isn’t an issue
Good point, I considered allowing buddies because of Meryl, but a once off should be more than enough
What a great video, I’m definitely excited to see more, although I’m happy for you to skip a quiet exit for most runthroughs, that level is pain without the parasite suit
Just might do it for my nerves, but I guess we’ll see next MGSV challenge run
I am SO glad someone else feels the same way as I do about Kaz saying GTFO
ITS SO FUCKIN COOL! Gives me goosebumps every time
"if you haven't played Metal Gear Solid 1, and don't worry, I'm right there with you-"
...God, I'm old.
I love how metal gear 5 is treated like a child, excuses after excused
As a fan of MgsV and the series overall I'm happy to have found you and subscribed and would like to see more MgsV videos also respect for beating the game as solid snake and also fuck Huey
Thanks brother, gunna make more MGS content for sure, and I’ll hate Huey every step of the way
I wish the weapons/item menu was instead of what MGSV used initially, I like the old ones where you used the trigger buttons.
I guess we’ll have to see what they do in MGSD, whether they stick to this system or go back to the old one
I've never seen someone play a metal gear game with so little stealth
Stealth has always been option in our favorite “tactical espionage operations” simulator lmao
@@redfoxrpg In five sure. In some of the others? Ehhhhh... MGS1 especially you'll not have a good time going in guns blazing most of the time. Oh and MG1 and 2? Ha yeah good luck with that lol.
One thing about rule 2: You are forced to have Meryl with you before Psycho Mantis, so it's fitting application-wise
True, but she also spends a portion of the fight controlled by Mantis, so between having her as an ally and having her as an additional enemy, I just called it an even split and decided not to do allies on the run, but that’s just my logic on it
Thank you for the laughs throughout the video. You definitely have a new subscriber, boss.

A Quiet Exit can be made a fair bit easier by going up to the hill at the back left of the ruins (if facing it from desert side), big ol rock for cover and far enough back that Quiet can take out foot guys while you can still hit tanks
EDIT: you did hide there once but moving left and right makes it significantly easier to avoid damage, peeking same side just means that tank is gonna target that peek
Alright, I’ll add that to the group of strategies I’m amassing from you guys, if I make it through it’ll be 100% because of you all helping me lmao
You never played MGS1?! Crazy sauce.
Ikr? Watched someone else play and it looks great, definitely want to play it and MGS2 sometime in the future
If you get the dlc or upgrade to the definitive edition, you could maybe do runs for Eva and the boss just playing as a female soldier. I think thatd be cool
I’ll certainly consider it!
TBF there is a turret section in MGS1, so I'd say you're A-OK using Pequod's
Yeah, totally forgot about until after the fact, the turret section after the Liquid fight. Thanks fam!
I really liked the video I don’t think I’ve seen anyone do something like this before I hope you make more
That’s the plan! I’m planning on doing a Fallout 4 and Skyrim run before hopping back on MGSV, but I love this game way to much not to come back!
Honestly love the vid, but half the game had to be you running to run from objective to objective which was probably the hardest part of the Challenge and next time you do one of these lower the level of your weapon or something to add extra spice to it
Has to be one the best videos I've seen from someone with such little subs, really hope you blow up and make more MGS content like this.
Thanks man, I hope so too! Definitely got plans for MGSV
for the oilfield mission, there's actually a glitch to get there faster, if you happen to go right and travel towards it in the open field, about the time you cross a puddle of water, the game will trigger the cutscene in the oilfield and instantly teleport you inside the facility.
I’ll try it next time, but I’ve got a bad track record of making Mfinda Oilfield glitches work
although it’s definitely a bit much if you’re not good at the game already, but solid can’t crouch walk(not until mgs4 at least), doesn’t have reflex mode, and doesn’t use cqc techniques(again, until mgs4). i think those mechanical restrictions would add a lot to the challenge and it’s accuracy
he also cant sprint
MGS1 Solid Snake can grab, choke, throw, and 3 hit ppk combo. Pretty much all the CQC moves.
you : i have 1000 hrs chalenge gona be fine (dies, does some weird stuff, wasted 500 hr on cleaning carma after nuke etc)

I don’t even remember how I use to beat it, but the last time before the challenge, I remembered it being not that bad, so I had my guard lowered for this one… we shall weep together, brother…
Use chopper support and airstrip and just hide behind the ruins
A quiet exit is extremely frustrating, the thing that kept killing you was the “mortars” that are described over radio chatter but that you can’t see or kill them. Not even the usual sound you hear when you fight mortars in other missions
@@greaterdanemark2397 oh, omniscient and omnipresent artillery units insta killing you while you battle against the strongest tanks with the best ai in the game, how fun lmao
Ah, you’re totally right! I remembered there being a guided weapon in the game but couldn’t remember what it was, and yeah, I wouldn’t have been able to use it, but if I’d remembered, I’d have at least mentioned something about it. Also, yeah, I dunno why I forgot you can just chopper extract everyone when I literally chopper extracted people I couldn’t Fulton, gunna remember that for next run.
Ah, sorry for the jumpscare lmao, I was going to put a headphone user warning but the video editor was being incredibly uncooperative that day, I’ll try to remember next time. Thanks for watching and for the suggestions, my dude!

For me, it’s only half the time tho for some weird reason! In the recent Naked Snake run it was a joke

@@jonaspen I wanna say I’ve done that in other videos? Can’t say for sure, but with over half a dozen MGSV videos limiting my equipment list, you’d think it’d happen at least once

The true Metal Gear Solid experience is 'On Site Procurement' for your weapons and items. The first game you only started with a pack of cigs that Snake smuggled in... and that's it. All other weapons and equipment were gotten on the site of Shadow Moses Island. :P
I'm saying that in a joking manner partially because I don't know what you can get from just scavenging around in this game.
I’ve been scouring the comments for an “Ultra Authentic” version of this run’s rules, and this by far is the most terrifying…
I love it
@@redfoxrpg Don't actually do it if you don't want to.
