On March 9, 2024, an officer spotted a vehicle with equipment violations in La Crosse, WI. Upon initiating a traffic stop, the male driver quickly diverted into a parking lot and fled on foot where he was able to successfully evade police by disappearing into his apartment. Little did he anticipate that the police possessed keys to his building, which ultimately led to his surprise apprehension.

My state 3rd is a mandatory 1 year in jail.

It's Wisconsin. They'll give him a cookie.
Agreed. Wisconsin is the most lenient state on DUIs.
It used to take 5 of them before it was a felony.
Within the last 5-10 years they changed it to your 4th is now a felony.
Usually carries 1-5 years for most people. A good lawyer and a rehab program could get it down even lower.

Im so tired of repeat drunk and impaired drivers. My son was killed by a drunk with 3 priors, no liscense and not even legally in the U.S.A.. And to throw it in our faces and make us feel our sons life wasn't worthy, he only served 2yrs and 14 days, With immediate deportation upon release. DUI'S, OWI, DWI, ect, needs to be harsher punishment and especially if there's injuries or death!!! It's murder if you shoot a gun into a crowd and someone gets shot, or throw a knife at a group and it kills one, so why not operating a vehicle while impaired. You know its a possibility you will hurt or kill someone and the chances are much greater when intoxicated!!! Max sentence for killing someone DWI is 10yrs in California but judges rarely give that sentence. 6 months sentences added for every DUI so 3 years max after 4+ DUI.... 29 death's daily across the U.S thats 1 every 50 minute's and we still haven't changed the law and the punishments! People doing more time for bieng drug addicts, and stealing! I've heard an officer ask why they bother setting up DUI checkpoints and field sobriety tests, when they could arrest the same person in 1 week for the same DUI 😢
I cant believe they gave him such a long sentence
That's so incredibly disheartening. You are 100% bang on the money that an out of control car is a deadly weapon, and operating it while impaired is a choice, that should have as serious consequences for the offender as for the victim
So very sorry Tiffany... thats so insulting.. I hope you can find some peace, love, and joy today. Happy Mother's Day ❤😢

Literally no one asked.
The entire legal system:
"I swear on everything, if you get a DUI another 13 or 14 more times.....we will seriously consider making you spend a weekend in jail!!" 💯
you would think that if a Judge watched even a few seconds of these tapes they would give out a proper sentence...the level of disrespect alone deserves a sentence. Basically by not giving ANY time in Jail your are telling them to go right ahead and behave like a savage, that no officer deserves any respect whatsoever.

Every DUI should be accompanied with a reckless endangerment charge. In some states it is a felony. Time in jail/prison ranges from 6 months to 7 years. Instead a woman driving under the influence managed to damage my childs brain when she was 3 (19 years old now), and she had to pay higher insurance for a few years. Spent less than 24 hours in jail, and paid a small fine. While my daughter is paying physically, mentally, emotionally for the rest of her life. My daughter also remembers the whole thing, and I think the woman who drove into my daughters bedroom should have had to pay for her therapy, medical care, and the thousand dollars of prescriptions per month. We sued civilly, and won, but insurance paid for it. It took over a year to get my daughter to sleep in a bed again. She stopped speaking for 6 months. She didn't feel safe anywhere and a drunk driver took that from her.
