Please note: Please don't attempt to copy what you see in this video without understanding of how to do it safely. I don't mean to sound bossy or tell people what to do. I just don't want people to get hurt. Just from watching my videos will not give you all the knowledge required to safely enter lift shafts.
Interestingly I recently went on a cruise ship that entered service in 2015 (lifts built 2014) and every lift on this ship did NOT have their shaft lights on, and they were also Kone’s exactly like the ones here. As far as I know I thought it was a compulsory regulation that all lifts shafts had to be lit permanently at all times on ships. Is this against regulation or have the regulations recently changed for newer ships?
Depends what countries jurisdiction it is under.
I was on a cruise in 1993 and the escape hatches were unlocked and there was a ladder in the shaft
Was the shaft light on ?
You could maybe have surfed the elevator ?
I remember when i was on a boat back in 2014 or whatever year it actually was, there were 2 lifts near the foot passenger doors (i dont know if there were any lifts in other parts of the boat), one of them was next to the stairs and the doors faced the stairs, the other was kind of behind the first one, both lifts were completly indipendant to each other, and the one which was next to the stairs went up 1 deck higher than the other one (athough that deck was crew only)
the lifts were a bit unusual, and i have no idea which company built them, the lifts had lights just above the call buttons (on the same panel as the call buttons) that indicated when the lift was moving up or down
Do they design lifts/lift shafts on boats a certain way so if the ship begins rocking a lot nothing will break?
No
Yes
Even the navy ships I work on still use Otis' original design, two tracks at the sides with wheels top and bottom of the car (food & ammo lifts). No reason it wouldn't remain stable despite poor conditions. The onboard dumbwaiters have the same design.
That is very interesting.

Beno what is your favorite modern lift?
Is the motor room padding insulation so it doesn't get too cold? I also noticed padding in part of the shaft.
I am not sure. It looks very weird.
excellent boat lift. it looks new.
PERFECTION

KDS-300 AUS buttons in the UK?
(Or is it not in the UK?)
Yeah kinda strange. Also notice is uses the KSS beep, Square button, and blue lights instead of the standard white.
Also if they wanted a high quality lift why did they not get a orona?
Luke Fanning orona is shit
Of course Oronas are the best. What other lift says "Canceled floor!" 500 times.
Oronas the worst
Cool! I’ve never seen a traction ecodisc before!
yeah, usually all Ecodiscs are hydraulic..
LiftsInGermany You mean MRL?
Al ecodisks are traction
"Never seen a traction Ecodisc before"????????? The term Ecodisc refers to the traction motor of the lift, but the term often refers to the entire lift. All Ecodiscs are traction.
KSS 670
Beno can you make a detailed look at a deve lift video?
DEVE's are hard to find in the UK... unless he goes to other countries.
There is only one left in the UK. It is a rather generic one. The motor room was unlocked a few years ago. Getting on top would be a challenge as it is glass. At the top floor the lift is 10cm away from the top of the shaft. It is the only lift I know that gets that close. I was thinking of putting eval owl on it and watching him get crushed.
Ben I think you should do it when you find one outside the UK.
@@benolifts 😂😂
The only lifts on jumbo jet planes are dumbwaiters that take trolleys down to economy class from upper class, and the lower deck is where the luggage is...
