    Can we acknowledge how Greg has burned through 18 diaries in his middle school years alone?

      The kid loves writing, maybe that’s why he’s so lazy, he’s exhausted all his energy into journaling.

      First of all, let me get something straight: This is a JOURNAL, not a diary. I know what it says on the cover, but when Mom went out to buy this thing I SPECIFICALLY told her to get one that didn't say "diary" on it.
      Great. All I need is for some jerk to catch me carrying this book around and get the wrong idea.
      The other thing I want to clear up right away is that this was MOM's idea, not mine.
      But if she thinks I'm going to write down my
      'feelings" in here or whatever, shé's crazy. So
      just don't expect me to be all "Dear Diary" this and “Dear Diary” That

    My head-canon is that Greg exaggerated many things, such as the janitor robot, some of the schools problems, and him being principal for the day. I also created made up backstories or what really happened for some of the moments, so it would be more realistic and make more sense to me

    tbh, I like the book, but I hate the ending. It literally just resets everything back to normal. Like what was the point of the book if we just end back where we started? You could've at least let Greg stay in slacksville school but no, they reset everything.
    --kind of spoilers from here but doesn't really matter in the book---

    I actually didn't like it. I know a lot of people liked the book but for me it was very laggy. 3/4th of the book is just greg complaining about school and all are just small incidents. Definitely funny tho😂. I did like the ending too. Overall I rate it 5/10

    In my opinion, it's pretty bad. Most of the book is spent explaining how bad the school is, and the ending is very, VERY rushed. Greg gets a girlfriend and breaks up with her in a few pages?! It's just a mess. A lot more time should have been spent on the moving school plot.

    Spoilers
    I was really expecting the older characters to show their faces like Holly, Patty, and Chirag, but unfortunately they were nowhere to be seen (aside from Mr. Gupta, Chirag's dad I guess?? But I think he had a different design in the older books). Also, I don't know, to me it felt like it was so over the top with the school crumbling to the point where it wasn't realistic. In the older books, Greg was the one causing problems, in this one things were just crumbling around him. It also felt like Jeff was really trying to stretch everything as much as he could, but I could be wrong. I also felt like the character designs felt a little samey because of the noses. The girls felt the weirdest because that's not usually how Greg draws them aside from the ones he doesn't like, like Ruby Bird. I hate to feel so nitpicky but I can't help but notice all these things and question them a little. I liked the book, but something about it felt off to me.
    also not to sound like a grammar nazi but there were a million wrong ways to start a sentence in that book lol

    • @aapsentertainment3159
      @aapsentertainment3159  11 месяцев назад +3

      You know what’s funny about half way through the book, I was really starting think about how many characters we haven’t seen in a while, like Fregley, Chirag, or even the damn pig that just ups and disappears for whatever reason.

    • @birddude2000
      @birddude2000 11 месяцев назад +2

      My thoughts exactly, even ROWLEY barely felt present in the book. My first impression of the book when it was announced is that all of the classic characters like the ones you mentioned would return in an epic way to save the school, but like Diaper Overload, it was kinda just Greg explaining everything going on around him. Also, in the earlier books, Greg felt like he actually deserved the bad stuff that happened to him, whereas now he just gets the business for no reason.

    • @rinn5238

      Yeah, and I like how Vice Principal Roy was mentioned one time and we didn't even see a drawing of him. I feel like he should've played a WAY bigger part in all of this. Honestly instead of that new principal he should've been the main "antagonist" in the character lineup.

    • @birddude2000
      @birddude2000 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@rinn5238 also, isn’t the purpose of a vice principal to replace the main principal when they’re gone? I don’t hate the book, I enjoyed reading it, but MAN do so many characters feel completely underutilized.

    Honestly, I didn't like the book AT ALL. There us so much to dislike about it; Probably one of the worst in the series. The worst thing about it is usually I'm not much of hater yet I'm sitting here rn in my bed writing this comment. I had some really high hopes because last book was actually my favorite in THE ENTIRE SERIES and that gave me hope that the series would rise again since Old School... 3.5/10
    Edit: Also, the book is basically Greg doing school and watching it fall apart.... how could anyone find that entertaining? Plus, it advertised itself as a "Oh no, Greg is going to a different school than Rowley! REALITY IS GONNA END!!!!" Even though, Rowley BARELY played a part in the book, AND that story was literally only in like, the last 20 pages. This book sucks, the only thing that is keeping me from eating 14 bowls of spicy general soy noodles, taking a dump and using the book as toilet paper is to complete the collection. Thats it. Nothing is unique about this book. I hate it. It sucks. The only things I slightly liked was the advertising part and Gregs sociopathic butt finally getting a chick and finding purpose in life. Thats it.

    Am I the only one that thinks Greg showed way way way less of his ‘sociopath’ side. Like he was actually kinda normal. The only slight sociopathic thing was when he didn’t have a problem with the school closing when he was going to the good school, but did when he was going to the bad school.

      @@aapsentertainment3159 I personally didn't really like those. IMO...Wrecking Ball's story was kinda dumb even with a good idea, Deep End has a dumb story and was the third vacation book, Big Shot kinda felt like it was talking down to the reader and vaguely ripped off The Little Giants, Just a little.
      But I can see why people like those books so opinion respected
      I mean we can all agree Double Down was the worst right?
      (Also, Am I the only one who feels like the series Books have become kinda divisive since The Third Wheel? I'm in the "Everything Old School and before was good" camp while others say the last good book was Cabin Fever. Some people like Wrecking Ball and Big Shot while others don't, And I can't really find a reason why we all start to have mixed opinions around 2012 and even more so in 2015 and beyond)
