No cuz when I was a kid I’d look at art styles I didn’t really like and I’d say “I could do better” and draw the characters in my art style. They looked like they had stage 10 Down syndrome, had gotten into 30 car crashes, had fallen off a cliff, and survived a rabid chimpanzee attack. This was supposed to be realism art. I thought it looked amazing.
This is fun to see. I've been journaling on and off for a decade now, and it's good to look back and laugh at yourself! I too was an odd kid with some unhinged journals.

I trew away my diary when i was 9-10 cuz my mom was reading it. It was those "pink pricess diary". It even had a lock, but my mom found a way to read it anyway. And she always juged the things i wrote. I don't know why, but she doesn't have any sense of privacy, and it's not just because of this diary- is everything. And the only thing she gave me more "privacy" was the internet... also known as "unsupervised internet for children". Probably because in that time, you were the best of your peers, or if adults said it to you, they realized you were advanced for your age group. 😂 I got it all the time. When I was younger. One of my uncles is a professional artist, and he looked over my and my brother's artwork when we were kids (we never got to see him, he lived across the country) and he was very encouraging. He cautioned us to save our old work. He told us "believe it or not, when you get older, you're going to want to look back on this. You'll go through a phase where you'll want to burn it, but don't. It's a record of how far you have come."

HELP im an artist i hate when people have way too much pride for their art 😭ur childhood story reminded me of this new girl she constantly bragged about how she could draw and was like “Hey! Did you know my drawing is super rare?! Yeah! Not much people have talent like me!“ and anytime someone complimented her she would say “I know its so good bet you couldn’t draw a sticm figure!“ and guess what her drawings look ten million times worse and people only complimented her bc she was so embarrassing and hilarious
