  • Young Money is one of the biggest labels of all time. It birthed artists like Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tyga, and more. Founded under Cash Money by Lil Wayne, the rapper mentored and scaled the careers of the biggest rappers of the next generation. But with beef and lawsuits between the artists and Birdman, the label took a sharp downturn and you wouldn't recognize a single new artist that's been recently signed on the label. In this video, we'll discuss the rise and fall of the label and everything in between.

    Look, they had their run. And it was a good one. Not my era, but give credit where it’s due. And it all starts off with Wayne going solo and dropping consistently until he reached the top. Plus, once he started featuring on other records, it was over from there. Quite impressive when you think about it. Also, with a team like that, I’m sure the other artists, musically, contributed to hooks and/or concepts, probably gave away songs to get the tracks the light they deserved…it happens all the time. In the studio, when there’s the right chemistry, it’s can truly be a team effort, if everyone’s on the same page. And for a minute , they were, that’s why they had their run.

    The worse thing you gonna ever hear about Wayne is somebody wrote a song for him 😂 young money never fell off the label was just a platform and they had a good roster, they just idolized Wayne to the point they lost their identity and sound in the game...the only artists that survived got their own wave...young money can never fall off as far as history though !

    • @rapaholicz
      @rapaholicz  20 дней назад +1

      Great question and thanks for watching. The difference was in size of deal. Birdman modelled his distro deal after Master P and just did it on a larger scale. No Limit signed a deal with Priority Records which opened the door for Cash Money to do the same with Universal - which was simply just a much larger, major record label. Universal is actually the parent company to Priority Records which is where No Limit signed their deal with

Then a bunch of people on one stage to hold "their funeral". 6 yrs Later Nicki Minaj is solidified as the greatest Female rapper ever and definitely one of the greatest female ARTIST ever!! Drake will fall off but if he hang in their his rise gonna be greater than they have ever seen

  • @joebrat6809

    YMCB are in many ways like the 'pop version' of Aftermath Records. Sure, they gave us 3 of the biggest stars of an entire generation (Nicki Minaj, Drake and Lil Wayne), just like Aftermath gave us Eminem, 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar, the former two are two of the 5 biggest stars in hip hop history. But WHO ELSE have they given us?
    Exactly, the majority of their signees (Busta Rhymes anyone?) were left to collect dust on the shelf and never got to actually release an album on that label?
    I mean where are the albums of Stat Quo, Bishop Lamont, Joell Ortiz, Eve, Raekwon, King Tee, etc?
    And where are the ones of Gudda Gudda, Lil Twist, Mystikal, Shanell, and more?
    EXACTLY!
