That type of shit is like regular Kanye. Also Donda 2 did at least fuck with his career, but then he went the bad german route so we'll never know what part of it is Donda 2 alone
Ye has been doing career ending shit for years now (not really related to music tho) and he's still going strong. At this point I believe that man's career will only end when he's six feet under. He could release the worst album we've ever listened to and still be famous
One more thing regarding the controversies around "Blurred Lines." The song was criticized for being a rip off of Marvin Gaye’s 1977 hit “Got to Give It Up.” And Gaye's estate went on to file a copyright infringement lawsuit against Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams that ended in a $5M judgment in the estate's favor.
The gayes sue everybody who they think even remotely used their music. They may have gotten 5m but they wanted 100% of all profits from the song so they kinda won i guess but not really.

Honestly, you don’t need to be putting out albums every year as an artist… it’s not manageable. Hip-hop and pop music in general is so fickle that attention spans are shorter than ever. Problem is, there’s so many clones, or one dimensional talents, it’s hard to keep things fresh, or evolve with the times. That said, Kanye is a fucking beast and a goddamn outlier.
that's what's wrong with the "fans" today. If it's not a top 5 album of the year in the charts everyone just says is whack. Artists can't just make music anymore, they gotta please the masses
Yeah that’s what I was thinking cause the “evolution of Robin thick” was and is considered he best work and that has “lost without you” on it back in 06.
Great video once again Matty 🔥Personally I would love to see a video on XXL I sometimes wonder to myself where it all went wrong 😔 as a kid I found myself looking forward to the XXL Freshmen but these days I just check back in to see how far from grace they've fallen It's sad actually
Todd does make good content. Jealous you just discovered him, with so many videos of his to watch. His Fun Style trainwreckords video is one of my favs.
@mattyballz the one with scatman John is heartwarming af. Pretty much all the one hit wonderland and Trainwreckords are awesome. Pretty much all his videos are worth a watch, and there are alot of them. Not sure if you're familiar with mic the snare. He's got great music related content also. Also, shout out Dignan, Riley and DJ Grant at hivemind. Gotta love them.
Think about it like this, Thicke ain't really big outside the R&B space. The guy making this video is white, not a slight against him but I doubt he grew up listening to the same radio stations as black folks. Cause R&B stations be bumping “Lost Without U” and “Morning Sun.” I've had to explain to a lot of people who the Fugees are beyond “Killing me softly” and who Jazmine Sullivan is beyond “Knock your Windows”
When it comes to making albums or songs about a loved one or an ex normally if you make one song and it doesn't do well you can still come back from pretty easily but if you make an entire album with multiple songs it's significantly harder to come back from as you can see with what happened with Robin Thicke and Chance the Rapper
Cause Taylor reputation and public image is built in a pathetic image of feminism mixed with poor accountability choices for the men she chose to be with as well as inspiring a angry rebellious generation go women who wanna be hoes or boss bitches than wives. The difference is her music is kind of enjoyable enough people wanna hear. Drake and even future makes songs about exes it’s all about marketing and how you try and filter it
It's more about how you do it and why you do it. Robin Thicke's Paula failed because it's corny and it really is more about robin getting his wife back rather than him making good music or expressing himself. Converge's Jane Doe and You Failed me are about a very specific relationship that ended badly for Jacob Bannon. The albums talk about more on how expectations, emotional immaturity and inexperience led to turmoil and destruction in romantic relationships. It's self introspection during a very painful moment and the music's aggressiveness plays out in it's favor. You can also make more angsty and corny albums about unlove and straight up hatred about your ex loved one if you are aware enough, tho. Type o Negative's Slow Deep and Hard and The Origin of The Feces are basically Peter Steele whining and complaining about his unfaithful ex girlfriend and how he wants to kill himself while calling her misogynistic slurs. But you know what? The lyrics and songwriting are full of irony and self deprecation so it never comes out as needy or "creepy" (one of the stupidest labels out there) as Thicke's Paula.
I subscribing only because I am impressed with your acknowledgement of other RUclips producers. So many people in effect steal the ideas and observations of others. You are genuine and should be proud of yourself.
I'm glad Roddy rich is planning to follow up his second album. It's good he is not being like chance the rapper and letting this bad album be his last entry.
Dude, I watch your vids and end up in a rabbithole of music without fail. Thank you for your wonderful source mentioning, dude. It's led to some really fun content.
Tbh The Big Day was t bad I still listen to songs from it every now and then, it was just a personal album for his wife, and it wasn’t what fans were expecting, it’s similar to the reaction Kanye got for DONDA because it was a personal album to his mom
The Big Day was awful, but I'm willing to pretend it didn't happen if Chance drops an album on par with Acid Rap/Coloring Book next. Yah Know is a really enjoyable listen imo
Meh that’s a shit attitude. If you don’t like it you don’t like it but you ALREADY HAVE Acid Rap and Coloring Book so you should just be great fun for the amazing music the man put out and you should have nothing but respect for a man coming from nothing working hard succeeding and then taking the time to be a father and enjoy his life. If you respected chance on the come up then you should respect him enjoying the good life right now. If he never made another song I’d still be a fan for life 👌🏼

THANK YOU for talking about “Lost Without You”. That song went crazy, everybody always talks about blurred lines (which was a huge hit don’t get me wrong) but I saw a lot of 106 & Park growing up and that song was on the top ten like almost every week at one point
Someone needs to get Todd this list cause he has his trainwreckords series and not only it’s informative but hilarious cause holy there’s a ton of artist that drop a hilarious awful album that basically destroy them
I am not a christian at all but I loved a lot of songs on The big day. Chance's albums are always an acquired taste. I didn't like it at first but there are really good tracks on there and vibey and lit dance songs. It's just focused on monogamy instead of hoes and money so I understand why it never was accepted by the mainstream. Sun come down, 5 year plan, Do you remember, are my personal favorites. Wholesomeness isn't marketable but it doesn't mean it's inauthentic. Idk loved it personally
Chance is really good everyone has that one bad project and he has a very good chance(pun intended) to come back and blow the top of the music industry
A lot of rappers don't have that same hunger after their first album. The hunger, passion and talent is what drives artists to make great music, in my opinion and when the hunger the drive and aren't there and any other negative aspects that's when the music stop being amazing, in my opinion.

Plus the kit Kat commercials I feel like he was on?
man i remember going to Chance’s family matters tour in 15 and it was such an insane experience it was also my first time seeing a Metro Boomin set live. was so excited for Big Day and the following tour but that album was so disappointing especially as a follow up to Coloring Book
It ruined their career because they didn’t keep going after receiving bad feedback. Now it’s the last thing we remember them for. Gotta keep pushing
Todd is a long time legend! So glad you discovered him recently you wont be disappointed
The big day absolutely deserved the hate it got. But chance himself didn't deserve the hate
10:57 the fact that y'all thought Roddy Richh Second album was trash says a lot we live in a pound town/ ice spice society
Exactly!! Shit sad out here
I don't even know who he is, or Ice Spice 🤷🏾♀️
that's what's wrong with the "fans" today. If it's not a top 5 album of the year in the charts everyone just says is whack. Artists can't just make music anymore, they gotta please the masses
todays artists can't make music period that's why they suck
@@pegallen6983 Are you a musician?
@@tolldoll1007 Why yes I am thank you for asking!
In Robin Thicke’s defense his first hit and bit of success was in 2006 so he was already past his “time” by 2013
Yeah that’s what I was thinking cause the “evolution of Robin thick” was and is considered he best work and that has “lost without you” on it back in 06.
Great video once again Matty 🔥Personally I would love to see a video on XXL
I sometimes wonder to myself where it all went wrong 😔 as a kid I found myself looking forward to the XXL Freshmen but these days I just check back in to see how far from grace they've fallen
It's sad actually
dangg
Love your grind, brotha!!! Keep up the good work, mane!!! 💯 Much love!!!
Todd does make good content. Jealous you just discovered him, with so many videos of his to watch. His Fun Style trainwreckords video is one of my favs.
really enjoyed what i saw so far, feel free to recommend some good ones!
Gotta be crazy to think Robin Thicke is just famous for blurred lines😭
It works for Taylor Swift though
@@sarahg1002 truuue
The highlight of Nahmirs career was beefing with Mattyballz
I'm glad Roddy rich is planning to follow up his second album. It's good he is not being like chance the rapper and letting this bad album be his last entry.
Nahmir crying in the NoJumper comments telling them to delete the post has me dead lmfao
Dude, I watch your vids and end up in a rabbithole of music without fail. Thank you for your wonderful source mentioning, dude. It's led to some really fun content.
chance got caught doing something, and that album was made to get him out the dog house lmfao
Tbh The Big Day was t bad I still listen to songs from it every now and then, it was just a personal album for his wife, and it wasn’t what fans were expecting, it’s similar to the reaction Kanye got for DONDA because it was a personal album to his mom
It’s so sweet how you share about creators who provided specific influence for your videos. A true gentleman and professional.
nothing could have aged more like milk than "i met kanye west, im never gonna fail"
An XXL decline video would be lit. Definitely want that one 🙏
Still wishing for Chance to release his country version of "It's hot in here". Not even a country fan but that was super good.
Please do the XXL video!!! I used to get so hype for those, their fall off was insanely disappointing
Having “Thicke” as a last name crazy
The video about the XXL freshman sounds like a great idea. I’d love to see that video
If he never made another song I’d still be a fan for life 👌🏼
@@mobilegameclips5628 Sure, that has nothing to do with what I said tho. I don't have anything against the guy. I just don't care for a project
Honestly bro, you could make a video about your room and I'd be down to watch. You come off like a genuine dude. Make that XXL video my dude!
Man I forgot about rob begging for hus wife back mid concert 😂
The shooutout to ToddInTheShadows was unexpected but made me smile tbh. Todd was my first music commentary related channel that i ever really got into and your channel is the second tbh
Keep up the good work, man!
Didn’t expect Roddy to fall like that … I understand every album can’t be a classic but LLFast was disappointing, hopefully he can bounce back though.
I said this before in a previous video but a capital steez video would be cool, keep up the good work always love to see u post 💪
I agree this would be cool video for Mr ballz
been brain storming some ideas around him, would love to cover him eventually!
@@mattyballz let’s goooo, it disappoints me that he never got the recognition he deserved
@@lil_guapo_xya capital steez was a beast on tha mic 🙌💯❤️🙏
The fact that it was his DEBUT album is insane I didn’t know that
with roddy he was also on donda and was easily a top 3 feature on the album
Definitely do that XXL video, I’d watch it for sure. W video btw
I had no clue Robin Thicke's father is the father from Growing Pains?!😮 Craaaaazy!
I think Roddy will be back with a smash...just a matter of time. He should stay off the internet and not rush anything.
Loving your vids bro! Awesome shouts for fellow music content creators. Look forward to watching your channel blow up!
I like you said man I remember when Chance try blame his manager who also been with him since day 1 from his first mix tap for his album flop but his manager expose him, show that manager show text message and other stuff that he told Chance don't do this album multiple times and but Chance wasn't having it and still release it and what worst when fans hate it, Chance even attack fans online call them hater and alot people said he didn't list to his manager cause he was on his high horse and thought his fans was going eat it up but they didn't and his producer sue him cause Chance didn't want pay him after it flop
THANK YOU for talking about “Lost Without You”. That song went crazy, everybody always talks about blurred lines (which was a huge hit don’t get me wrong) but I saw a lot of 106 & Park growing up and that song was on the top ten like almost every week at one point
Someone needs to get Todd this list cause he has his trainwreckords series and not only it’s informative but hilarious cause holy there’s a ton of artist that drop a hilarious awful album that basically destroy them
Suprised he hasnt done one on chance
@@mattyballz fr he did one for Katy why not Chance
Love the Todd shout out, absolutely adore the Trainwreckords series
You should make a vid on the parallels of early blues artists and drill rap. I can't use this idea, maybe you can
I am not a christian at all but I loved a lot of songs on The big day.
Love the idea to do the downfall of XXL you should definitely do it! Have been loving the videos keep on going!!!
I would love to see a Chance the Rapper comeback
Long live your channel bro❤️🔥💯
I discovered Todd in the shadows recently too, dude's amazing
Chance is really good everyone has that one bad project and he has a very good chance(pun intended) to come back and blow the top of the music industry
So glad you shouted out toddintheshadows, watched him for years and much loved in the community!
A lot of rappers don't have that same hunger after their first album. The hunger, passion and talent is what drives artists to make great music, in my opinion and when the hunger the drive and aren't there and any other negative aspects that's when the music stop being amazing, in my opinion.
What's crazy is Nahmir is making a comeback, he started releasing good music again.
You be bumping nahmir in the whip? 😂
Nigga how is that a measure of quality music I’m not bumping “to pimp a butterfly” in da whip that don’t mean it’s not good 😂😂😂😂😂
@@iamsheron7408 learn to use this shit goofy and replay to my comment and not the original one posted dick head
🎶 ooh i love my wiiiiiiife, let's go ride a biiikkkkeeee with my wife 🎶 😂 i can't with the internet sometimes
Im just watching this, and I read a couple of days ago- Chance the Rapper is divorcing his wife 😂
Lol I can understand why Robin Thicke went crazy over Paula Patton 😂😍
Chance The Rapper and Robin Thicke should make a really solid album together called, "I Love My Wife, I Love My Ex" their careers will come back stronger than before.
I wanna hear thoughts on if donald glover was saying something about chance in atlanta s2 with an industry plant character who had an engineer jumped for screwing up while recording
Todd in the Shadows one of my favorite RUclips channels. He’s hilarious. I also think the XXL decline video would be great.
I believe doing a XXL video would be an amazing idea
Matty! I love how comfy your recording setup feels 😍
It's probably just your bedroom but the lighting is what I love hahaha
"blurred lines wasn't about consent it was about rejection" WHAT DO YOU THINK CONSENT IS ROBIN.
