Dang your comment humbled me. That's facts tbh, most artists just want some ppl to listen to their music and make a living off their craft. It's hard to be any sort of artist in this world, but sadly ppl get caught up on the whole 'fame' aspect of it. Man is making music and has a loyal fan base, he may not be at the top but that's successful IMO. There's over 8 billion people now, it's something to be proud of to stand out even for a little while. And he was put in contact with ppl who will always help him remain successful even if not in music.
No that’s not how it works, if you do some corny shit then you as a famous artist, you are going to get called out and criticize for it. This isn’t a fairly tail. “Appreciate the climb to the top” 😂. That’s what his fans are for
Lol difference is a lot of fall off and are able to make a come back. Yet he hasn't and for his "fans" sure they like his old stuff but won't touch his new stuff with a 10 foot pole
Being a celebrity in the USA seems to mean you get popular, have a ‘downfall’ and have a comeback story, so Chance can absolutely get back. Fans (especially music fans) can be very fickle so if the worse he’s done is he danced with a woman in Jamaica I expect to see a comeback soon
Lol no it doesn't... how did you come up with that? There's lots of successful artists or celebrities with long careers who never had a downfall or period of irrelevancy, most of the time if you become irrelevant or have a "downfall" as you describe it, it's very hard to come back.
The worst part was firing his best friend as manager then putting out a trash album bragging about being in love and lecturing the fans. He proved to be an arrogant hypocrite
Close, I would say, he went to being what he thought popular people wanted him to be. Like the outside influence brought that, what was already inside to the surface.
This man gave us nothing but classics with Acid Rap and Coloring Book, I wouldn’t count him out because of a bad debut album. He has insane potential, maybe I’m biased because of how influential his music was to me in highschool but I’ll always root for Chance
Man I miss the early underground Chicago rap. Mick Jenkins, hurt everybody (my favorite group) chance the rapper, Saba, LUCKI ecks, kembe x, Alex Wiley, Noname gypsy, Vic Mensa all while lyrical lemonade was coming up. Glad I was around
Acid rap was my starting point into hip hop and to this day the album carries the nostalgia and memories from that part of my life. Listening to the big day crushed me because of how garbage it is compared to his previous work. I still hope that we will see a proper return to form from chance and get to see a proper album that lives up to his other projects.
Wait it’s been 10 years since Acid Rap???? Oh god I feel so old! I remember listening to that like it was yesterday and I played that so much in my car. It came out during my junior year of high school. Wow this makes me think back on all those type of like alternative rappers like chance and odd future, who I was also a huge fan of
fun fact another artist was smoking with him when he was suspended. It was an artist that is now in the band "twin peaks" they are incredibly talented, and you should definitely check them out. Also, I was dming Hoodie Allen today and he was cool. That is all
Cadien and Jack from twin peaks were part of a sort of smoking group with Chance called DOC (dudes of chief) that he mentions in the song windows. Also, they've been in twin peaks since sunken came out which is their first release to my knowledge
Honestly rapping shouldn't be a "career" because true longevity is lightning in a bottle and most rappers these days don't have it. Instead they should get their bread and make smart investments to make generational wealth
I've always thought this. And then they can just casually make music when they feel but not have to worry about the money. Rihanna is honestly so smart for what she has done. Her investments in her beauty brand and clothing brands have her set for life. She can just drop something whenever she wants and her established fan base will still eat it up. Even if it's 10 years from now. She's living the dream.
@@chenanigansRihanna isn’t a good comparison she’s one of those lifetime artists.. her fans still waiting on a new album even though she lasted dropped in 2016. She still has an active fan base “Rihanna navy” those weird ass stans. But no doubt she’s smart for what she did.
Once you get accepted by main stream artists and "arrive in the game" these artists are compromised... sad that their downfall is so obvious. Logic still gets my respect to a degree, seems like he still just doing his thing, and can actually rap
Very good video and cool topic. I was wondering if Chance would ever bounce back from his album flop, and it seems like he still hasn't. I remember the NeedleDrop half apologizing to Chance hoping he could brush himself off and come back with an album that redeemed his reputation and career, but I don't think that's happening. Chance's self esteem got shot to hell and it leaves me wondering if he even could make a good come back album. Chance's old manager, who ended up suing him, said he'd been super busy during the album creation and didn't dedicate enough time to the project. Allegedly he told Chance to not rush the release, but Chance released it unpolished anyway. I wonder if the album would be any better if more time was given. But I'm personally doubtful since some of the song's on the album were just corny and things like "I love my wife" just came off as overly artisan.
Chance is one of my favorite artist ever. I think he has another run left in him. But I’d be a fool to think that he could reach the heights he could pre 2019
Honestly, I'm not that sad about Chance falling off. His music was fun but it wasn't anything I ever considered among the greatest, and it was super annoying that Kanye was using Chance as an excuse to pretend like he's actually from Chicago when he's from fucking Atlanta, and everybody in Chicago hates Kanye already.
@@KWILKSP Chance said he met Kanye, and that Ye was a big influence of his growing up. Chance used to talk about how the first album he ever owned was College Dropout and he would play it on repeat. They made friends for obvious reasons but Kanye is always on that bullshit because he wanna be Chicago native so badly and everybody in the Chi knows Ye is a faker from Georgia, so he tries to surround himself with music artists from the Windy City to make it look like he's legit.
i grew listening chance and kid cudi and to this day i still listen to both even the older albums mostly kid cudi stuff had an huge impact on my life but its sad how they both went out and i hope they make a huge comeback
Kid cudi was amazing still remember when him an kanye were on 106 an park to promote his debut album honestly after he dropped that speedin bullet shit was over with chance though I never really got into him one of my exes loved his music an I just didn’t get the hype around him 🤷♂️
His career is not ruined at all. He's 3/4 on projects, has dropped good songs since then, and The heart and the Tongue from 2021 is one of my favorite songs by him idc. He can easily bounce back with another good album
Bro he’s not doing ANY numbers and has a minuscule social media presence compared to before the big day 😂 He’s completely washed. All that shit you mentioned literally doesn’t mean anything
I maintain that the big day has hitters that most people would still enjoy if they listened to it without bias. We Go High is one of my favorite songs chance ever made.
@@mosthatedty9585 half the songs are good, it’s not that bad. 5 year plan, eternal, and do you remember are really solid, and again, We Go High is a top 5 Chance song.
For me it was how they marketed the big day. It was supposed to be his debut studio album and that he had poured hours of his life into it. It comes out, it flops, and people start retracting that it was just another mixtape.
I never really liked chance like that, but I acknowledge his skill. Regardless I saw it coming from a mile away. People who have the rocket soar in a short amount of time fall hard.
To add: I didn’t think the big day was a bad album. It was mediocre and in all honesty I don’t think it deserved that level of hate. It just wasn’t his best album. Just my opinion.
I was expecting this to end off on a light note, but instead it ended without a single thing he has done in the last few years. I don't understand how a guy makes 1 album that was made solely for his wife and now that's all people remember. Here is a list of songs since The Big Day that can give us some hope: Wraith A bar about a bar The Highs and the Lows The Heart and the Tongue
He can still come back. If 2 or 3 albums bomb then it’s game over. However releasing 1 bad album and even being memed for it isn’t the biggest deal. People forget memes easily after a few months, especially a few years
Similar, yet different was Kool Keith when he went from East to West Coast and got trippy as fuck making music under crazy personas like Doctor Octagon & Black Elvis.
I don't completely believe that he has had a downfall because of the nay-sayers and new company as such. Chance is also a Christian who's had to balance making mainstream music with music that resonates with his Faith. He's just refocussing his career path in a way that doesn't aim to please everyone. The same with Kanye West, the moment he said he's making Godly music there was this wave of haters thinking he's gone down the rails. But when you look at the success of his new music it is actually more successful numbers-wise but mainstream platforms won't give him that credit and limelight because He's talking Jesus. There's a lot of political agendas involved in these types of industries. But Chance will be alright.
The religious thing is cap, after 10 Day and Acid Rap Chance kept his momentum off his gospel influences. I remember a lot of people were saying his sound was maturing. That last album was criticized for its pop sound and trash mixes. Hot Shower being the main example. Donnie Trumpet/Social experiment and The Coloring book were fire and he talked about his faith. The "corny image" kinda came from dorks complaining he loves his wife 😅
There's good religious music - "Jesus Walks," Coloring Book - and bad religious music - new Kanye, The Big Day. People don't hate it because it talks about god. They hate it because it sucks ass.
Bro. On god I was just saying this. 10-day & Acid Rap just hit different. It’s been a decade I don’t expect the subject matter to stay the same but the energy is missed.
Love Your videos & The content you push appreciate You covering this Topic. The only thing that can’t be argued is how Blessed our Family is. Appreciate You
I wanted Chance to win so bad, but after he kind of alienated his entire fan base with The Big Day I feel like it is so much harder for him to make a comeback since he would have had to release another album reminiscent of Acid Rap or Coloring Book immediately after he dropped TBD to redeem himself from the heat. But now too much time has passed and he has lost a lot of interest in his music, while his OG fans are either not interested in his music anymore or are scarred/tired of getting clowned on by their friends for still supporting him lol.
Funny that you made the “highs and lows” remark at the end there, not sure if it was intentional. Him and Joey Bada$$ dropped a song called that recently that I think is honestly great
I remember when in Lollapalooza Chile 2018 this guy was practically thrown out by the public bc we wanted the RHCP and somehow, for some reason, they put this guy before. Not another rock act, this random rapper that nobody in latinamerica knows or cares about. It was brutal. Then I heard in another festival the guy came late and the Peps just started their gig and he tried to perform after them but the entire audience walked out bc nobody knows or cares about him.

@@jjbeatz5025 Hater vibes fr fr
@@itsmoonlitbro I’m just living in the real world, not being delusional
Being a celebrity in the USA seems to mean you get popular, have a ‘downfall’ and have a comeback story, so Chance can absolutely get back. Fans (especially music fans) can be very fickle so if the worse he’s done is he danced with a woman in Jamaica I expect to see a comeback soon
Lol no it doesn't... how did you come up with that? There's lots of successful artists or celebrities with long careers who never had a downfall or period of irrelevancy, most of the time if you become irrelevant or have a "downfall" as you describe it, it's very hard to come back.
Yeah you’re right bro
The worst part was firing his best friend as manager then putting out a trash album bragging about being in love and lecturing the fans. He proved to be an arrogant hypocrite
Jamari always knows how to make my day
2:13 Great vid. Quick note, Soundcloud wasn't the "move" yet until like 2015-2019. 2013 was mostly WSHH, AudioMack, Datpiff, and LiveMixtapes.
He went from being who he is to being the person popular people want him to be
Close, I would say, he went to being what he thought popular people wanted him to be. Like the outside influence brought that, what was already inside to the surface.
@@Stoned420Guru I agree
This man gave us nothing but classics with Acid Rap and Coloring Book, I wouldn’t count him out because of a bad debut album. He has insane potential, maybe I’m biased because of how influential his music was to me in highschool but I’ll always root for Chance
"Chance the Rapper" went from being one of the most loved to the most memed rapper in the blink of an eye . Ngl I fw him hard back in the day tho
Excellent taste 💥
Acid rap was my starting point into hip hop and to this day the album carries the nostalgia and memories from that part of my life. Listening to the big day crushed me because of how garbage it is compared to his previous work. I still hope that we will see a proper return to form from chance and get to see a proper album that lives up to his other projects.
I'm sorry that was your starting point
So young kid. Listen to the late Prodigy and Sean Price for timeless catalogue
Starting point? Must be young.
Acid rap was incredible and I still listen to it to this day. I’d see chance for a concert of him just singing that album
This was a very well put together video Jamari!!!! Good work
Agreed
Wait it’s been 10 years since Acid Rap???? Oh god I feel so old! I remember listening to that like it was yesterday and I played that so much in my car. It came out during my junior year of high school. Wow this makes me think back on all those type of like alternative rappers like chance and odd future, who I was also a huge fan of
fun fact another artist was smoking with him when he was suspended. It was an artist that is now in the band "twin peaks" they are incredibly talented, and you should definitely check them out. Also, I was dming Hoodie Allen today and he was cool. That is all
Hoodie Allen is a creep lol
Lmao hoodie Allen
You lost me at Hoodie Allen 🤮
Cadien and Jack from twin peaks were part of a sort of smoking group with Chance called DOC (dudes of chief) that he mentions in the song windows. Also, they've been in twin peaks since sunken came out which is their first release to my knowledge
The problem is it wasnt just any album, it was his first *actual album* after years of hype
Hes been a judge on the voice, i cant believe this wasn't mentioned
That ain't no achievement man. That's the her ending of your career
That little clip of young Mac 😢 idk if I’ll ever stop feeling sad when I see him.. my heart still hurts man
Honestly rapping shouldn't be a "career" because true longevity is lightning in a bottle and most rappers these days don't have it.
@@pj8847 a good example woudlve been UglyGod.
5:25 I just recently made a whole song to that background instrumental you have playing 😂😂😂😂 mark my words it's fire AF dropping I'm 3 months
Crazy how you hit a million good job brother keep up the work love watching your videos always interesting
Once you get accepted by main stream artists and "arrive in the game" these artists are compromised... sad that their downfall is so obvious. Logic still gets my respect to a degree, seems like he still just doing his thing, and can actually rap
Man that coloring day concert in Chicago was such a good time. Great memories from a bunch of solid performances
This was an amazing analytical video Jamari
@@Green_Eyed_Monster dawg what the hell are you talking about 💀
@@KWILKSP Chance said he met Kanye, and that Ye was a big influence of his growing up.
Kid cudi was amazing still remember when him an kanye were on 106 an park to promote his debut album honestly after he dropped that speedin bullet shit was over with chance though I never really got into him one of my exes loved his music an I just didn’t get the hype around him 🤷♂️
Acid rap is one of my favorite albums of all time to this very day. Shit still holds up. A true classic of modern hip hop.
His career is not ruined at all. He's 3/4 on projects, has dropped good songs since then, and The heart and the Tongue from 2021 is one of my favorite songs by him idc. He can easily bounce back with another good album
Bro he’s not doing ANY numbers and has a minuscule social media presence compared to before the big day 😂
He’s completely washed. All that shit you mentioned literally doesn’t mean anything
its so insane how he went from making godly albums like acid rap and colouring book to ass albums like big day i hope he can come back
I was in Afghanistan when acid rap came out and omg that mixtape has a lot of memories attached to it.
I went to see chance years ago and it was so much fun. He even sang the Arthur theme and Family Matters theme songs lol it was lit
I maintain that the big day has hitters that most people would still enjoy if they listened to it without bias. We Go High is one of my favorite songs chance ever made.
Thank you!! The big day is not a bad album it’s just not acid rap which is ok
@@mosthatedty9585 half the songs are good, it’s not that bad. 5 year plan, eternal, and do you remember are really solid, and again, We Go High is a top 5 Chance song.
When he went down on his down fall... man I was so sad.... I loved his music but man, so sad
Who was that meme guy trying to remix moonlight? @00:11
Smokepurp i think
Your mama.
Logics last 2 projects were 🔥 🔥
Edit: also I love the quote “luck, blessings, hard work and shit.” When asked about how he got to where he was. 💯
For me it was how they marketed the big day. It was supposed to be his debut studio album and that he had poured hours of his life into it.
It comes out, it flops, and people start retracting that it was just another mixtape.
1:45 Young Chance rapped like a positive young Eminem
One of the lines he was freestylin with sounded a lot like Joey Badass Waves
GREAT video dawg. I'm glad you came up with this video 👏👏
I never really liked chance like that, but I acknowledge his skill. Regardless I saw it coming from a mile away. People who have the rocket soar in a short amount of time fall hard.
To add:
I didn’t think the big day was a bad album. It was mediocre and in all honesty I don’t think it deserved that level of hate. It just wasn’t his best album.
Just my opinion.
Waiting for this man to come back. His features are still fire. His talent is there. Come back to us chano!
to be honest, i never took chance seriously in the first place. ten years later i still dont know ANY of his songs lol
You’re not missing anything…
Same. I’ve heard of him but none of his songs.
Still appreciate this guy, really different from the crowd of rappers these days. I think he can still pull it off if he really try.
I was expecting this to end off on a light note, but instead it ended without a single thing he has done in the last few years. I don't understand how a guy makes 1 album that was made solely for his wife and now that's all people remember.
Here is a list of songs since The Big Day that can give us some hope:
Wraith
A bar about a bar
The Highs and the Lows
The Heart and the Tongue
sometimes you get grinded on when youre out kicking it. it happens. when youre tore back and it happens, not much you can do
He can still come back. If 2 or 3 albums bomb then it’s game over. However releasing 1 bad album and even being memed for it isn’t the biggest deal. People forget memes easily after a few months, especially a few years
Bro put that 3 cap on the map😂
Edit: lmaooo at 9:28
He can definitely make a come back
Dont do me like this ive been waiting for the new video to drop and you hit me with thr two hit combo. 👍🏿
You should create a series on artists who linked up to Kanye and sank
Similar, yet different was Kool Keith when he went from East to West Coast and got trippy as fuck making music under crazy personas like Doctor Octagon & Black Elvis.
I’m gonna say yes, he can make a comeback because he is very talented. This seems like another the hype got to him kind of story.
chance will never die what he’s done is still relivenant and he’s independent so
I don't completely believe that he has had a downfall because of the nay-sayers and new company as such.
Man I had to watch this with captions because I can’t understand anything the rappers are saying or trying to say. Great video by the way.
It was fire back in the day, but I stopped being able to take him serious after I thought he sounded like Doodlebob 😂
Bro. On god I was just saying this. 10-day & Acid Rap just hit different. It’s been a decade I don’t expect the subject matter to stay the same but the energy is missed.
Sometimes i forget the chokehold he had on rap at the time. Im still on chance's side bro
Get Rich or Die Tryin was my 1st album that i owned in the 9th grade 2003
Chance literally just rapped like black Eminem
I fw the music content man
Heart and Tongue is legitimately such a good song, definitely one of my favorites by him.
Funny that you made the “highs and lows” remark at the end there, not sure if it was intentional. Him and Joey Bada$$ dropped a song called that recently that I think is honestly great
Who’s her after his wife re-filed for divorce??
He's getting divorced twice?
I'm fucking with these more educational/informative vids, you do a good job of producing em
The big day just keeps aging like milk. Now their getting a divorce.
I fw the long videos🤓
I remember when in Lollapalooza Chile 2018 this guy was practically thrown out by the public bc we wanted the RHCP and somehow, for some reason, they put this guy before. Not another rock act, this random rapper that nobody in latinamerica knows or cares about. It was brutal. Then I heard in another festival the guy came late and the Peps just started their gig and he tried to perform after them but the entire audience walked out bc nobody knows or cares about him.
He’s not a random rapper you all are just metalheads
Gotta recognize 10 day and Acid Rap were iconic and validating backpackers who didn’t already know of other artists. I knew of Del and but the Chance came out and I felt like “Ok this still gets made”
Chance had that slim shady flow.
That was the first thing I thought took his whole flow
Very upsetting I found chance right after his peak so I really am hoping he can bounce back stronger then ever
Imagine coming to Jamaica and not dancing on our beautiful ladies, what do you expect the man to do?
Some of his songs made me who I am today, so sad to see this man😢😢
Never heard his music but he was an amazing host of snl. If his career ever completely tanks he should consider acting or comedy
1:50 Damn you can really hear Eminem’s influence solely Chance’s flow and tone!
