    what about host tether distance

    • @SongbirdGaming
      @SongbirdGaming  11 месяцев назад

      Sorry, just saw this comment. There is no host tether on a rented server. The "non-dedicated server" is actually just online multiplayer hosted on your machine, and this game takes too much processing power to run, for your home machine to host a bunch of people all spread out around the map. You can extend the tether a bit (there's a video on my channel about how to do that) but it seems to work for some people and not others and I'm not sure why. I also have videos on how to set up your own rented dedicated server. Or you can play on someone else's unofficial server. Either way, no tether there.

  • @hansl1534
    @hansl1534 Год назад +2

    we have a problem when we create a server, not Nitrado then our host has the problem that the other players move very laggy.
    Not playable, and that was the case for all of us, so everyone tried to host but ONLY the host had the problem.

    • @SongbirdGaming
      @SongbirdGaming  Год назад

      This is because you aren't actually creating a server. They shouldn't even call it that, just confuses people. It's just a multiplayer session that one person is hosting on their own machine. The same machine they are also trying to play on. That's a big strain on a lot of computers and consoles. That's why it's creating lag for the host. Renting a server is different because all the processing is being done on a separate, professional server machine in a big server farm. So no tether, nobody is hosting it on their own machine, and anyone can use it even if the other players aren't online. Tends to be less laggy in my experience.

      @hansl1534 I'm sorry, I don't set the pricing. Nothing I can do about that. You could all join somebody else's unofficial server then, you can't pick the mods and settings, but it would be free or much cheaper. Aaron Longstaff has free servers, so do some other creators. If I do my setting first before choosing difficult will it change my setting

    • @SongbirdGaming
      @SongbirdGaming  Месяц назад

      @@peg-hauk-warrior1780 if you have it set on single player mode then that will override pretty much any other settings.
      Outside of that though, difficulty setting pretty much only affects what level the dinosaurs will spawn at. Ark isn't really like other games and so the only way to really have an easy mode is single player mode.
      Personally I prefer to tweak the settings individually. And setting the difficulty on easy makes all the creatures spawn at lower levels, which may make it a little easier in the beginning, but makes it harder in the long term. Because everything you are taming is lower level and thus dies easier.
      And if you are attacked by a level 15 raptor on the beach you are just as dead as if it was a level 100+ raptor. There isn't really all that much difficulty in taming a level 35 creature versus a level 150 creature, at least not if your taming is boosted. Takes a little bit longer and a little bit more kibble but the process is the same. So is the game actually easier, with lower level creatures? Personally I don't think so.
      So I much prefer higher difficulty so I can find higher level things to tame.
      If you do actually want to make it easier, there are quality of life mods that can make it easier and those make much more of a difference than changing the difficulty level in the settings.

    • @SongbirdGaming
      @SongbirdGaming  Год назад

      I don't know for sure, haven't tried a non-dedi yet, but probably? If it's like ASE, then the tether was due to performance issues. If all the players are in the same part of the map, then only that part of the map needs to be rendered. But if players are in multiple parts of the map, then multiple parts of the map all need to be rendered... and with non-dedi servers, your home PC is hosting the game. That's a big strain on a personal computer, with a game that's already a strain on most PC's resources. But, even in ASE, you could at least increase the tether length.
      That said, I didn't see that setting. It's possible it's not there, or maybe it pops up when you go to create a non-dedi server.

      Has to be. Because home pc's struggle to run this game as it is. Your computer or console is not the same as a big server. When you run a non-dedi session, you are hosting other people to play on a game hosted on your computer, which takes a lot of processing power. With the tether, at least your machine only has to render one part of the map, around you as the host. Without the tether it would have to render multiple areas of the map all at once. If they got rid of the tether but the game crashed if you went too far from each other, that would be far worse, but that's likely what would happen.

In pve mode "unclaimed" counts as another tribe, and you can't harm other tribes' dinos sooo... if friendly fire is on, then you have to claim them and then kill them yourself with a weapon. Flooding your tribe log with death messages. If friendly fire is disabled you can't even do that. In PvP mode you can munch unclaimed ones with a dino and get some extra xp for that dino.

      @SongbirdGaming  Год назад

      Maybe? I'm not sure. Someone who might know is @meanren. She taught me how to download server save data... not sure how that would work with a non-dedi. If it's a rented server, I can get you a discount code btw, and could ask my Nitrado rep.

    Is there still a host barrier?

    • @SongbirdGaming
      @SongbirdGaming  Год назад

      I'm not sure what you mean by host barrier. Do you mean the tether?

    • @SongbirdGaming
      @SongbirdGaming  Год назад

      If you are referring to the tether between the host and guests, yes it still exists. This video explains why it exists, and how to extend it. Note on lower end consoles I've heard reports of this not working. MS/Sony aren't going to let you tinker with it to the point it would cause crashes.

      Yeah there is a tether and you can’t go more than like 300 or 500m I think that’s why I refunded the game cuz on ase my mate and I can go across the entire map with out issue until we come across a cave or something and couldn’t see a option to extend it on asa

    • @SongbirdGaming
      @SongbirdGaming  Год назад

      @@The2000scorpions you can extend it. Not to the degree you could on ASE but it is adjustable. Or, you can play on a server. The tether is only a thing in non-dedi sessions. It doesn't exist at all on actual servers. Lots of great unofficial servers out there to play on (including mine) or you can rent your own just for you and your friends.

      Dude nobody wants to play on a random server where you can’t even choose your own mods, most players play on non dedicated server with like 3 friends, the fact that crossplay isn’t extended to non dedicated servers in ridiculous

      A lot of people in comments are saying on console only the slider works, typing it does nothing. I don't own a console so can't test that.

    Do you know how to save your world on non ded multiplayer. We constantly have to start all over and it’s frustrating. We tried the save world command. What else can we do?

    • @SongbirdGaming
      @SongbirdGaming  8 месяцев назад +1

      How did you use the saveworld command? Was it the host that did it or one of the guests? And if a guest did it, did they use the admin password first to enable cheats?
      That command should work. I don't really know what to tell you other than that.
      Other than maybe consider renting a server? You can set the save interval that you want on a server, and also you can do the saveworld command whenever you want. It has a lot less lag, and you can leave it on all the time so your friends can hop on even if you aren't available, or if nobody wants to play for a while, you can turn it off so time doesn't pass and everything pauses until you're ready to play again. You have total control over all of that, and can even turn your server on and off remotely using the Nitrado mobile app. And there's never any tether. Also if you get arked you can roll the server back to a previous save.
      It's not super cheap, but if you get some friends together and pool your resources to rent it for six months or something in advance, then you do get a discount. And if you and your friends decide you don't wanna play ark anymore, you can switch the server over to one of the other over 100 different games that Nitrado hosts servers for.

      We both tried but I think it’s better to get the server. Thank you for responding!
