Only PC was in the patch notes, but based on the other comments here, they removed the tether adjustment slider for *all* platforms. The default setting might be different between the platforms, however. That shouldn't really affect crossplay though, because the tether is only a thing on non-dedicated servers, in other words, locally hosted online multiplayer. So if you are hopping into your friends' single player world or your friend is hopping into yours. In which case the tether would depend on who is hosting it because it's apparently shorter for some consoles or something. But on a dedicated server there is no tether and never has been. It's only if your own local little machine, your home PC or console, is both running the game for you and also hosting your friend to play the game; your machine is only set up to handle single player. So the only way it can handle multiplayer, is if it treats it like single player. By keeping all the players together in one area. That's why the tether exists. So that your computer only has to manage all of the data for one area of the map at a time. The rest of the map can be in stasis without creatures moving around or doing anything. The game is still pretty unstable and poorly optimized, so if they make the tether too long and allow players to get too far away from each other on a lower end machine like an Xbox S or a low and PC or some PlayStations, it would be more likely to cause crashing. Sony and Microsoft are super picky about that, they don't like to certify/allow games that crash, onto their consoles. So for now while they are still working on bugs fixes and optimizing it, they got rid of the ability to adjust the the length of the tether so it is just one length. Which is easier for them to test and make sure that it's not going to cause crashes. Hopefully over time as the game gets more stable, they will extend the tether or bring back the slider and allow people to adjust it themselves. That's what ended up happening in ASE eventually.

The game is still so unstable, so I'm guessing they were trying to eliminate one thing that can cause a lot of lag and crashing issues. Hopefully as the game gets better optimized and more stable, they will be able to bring it back as a setting that can be adjusted, and allow it to be extended more. Ark is a uniquely resource-intensive game, and when you host a non-dedi session your own lil machine has to both run the game for you, and function as a server to host others... the only way that's possible on lower end machines, is if it can be run basically the same as single player, so only one area at a time is out of stasis. But, that requires all the players to stay together in one area.

@@ArthurFernandes-rd5pk only custom cosmetic mods work on most officials. Except for the official modded cluster, that changes mods every few months, I don't know which mods they have going now. But no, most of these they don't have on official... just one reason why I vastly prefer unofficial. 😆

Also, Utilities+ is the one with spears that break, mine will **NEVER** break! :)

@@SongbirdGaming Good question, I know CS is true to the S+ for ASE and has almost everything that S+ has that is actually in Game.

@AndyScott67 same with B+, but it also adds other functions like the resizing feature and it also has a storage system you can set up (optional, I haven't used it yet and you don't have to) that's kinda more like Automated Ark, Where are you can set specific containers for specific types of items, and then you can hit an intake thing and it will put all of those things away in their special containers. So like not just things that can go in dedi storage, but you can have all of the saddles go into a saddle box all of the BP's going to a BP box, you could set up a box just for hide and pelt and wool or whatever, and it can sort and put several different things away in one container, unlike dedi storage.

@@scottwall7650 I do love Klinger Rustic and in fact my last video before this one was a build I did using that mod! I'm definitely going to make a video on structure mods at some point, but for this one I wanted to keep it to the very small mods that are under 100 MB.

@SongbirdGaming I love the Klinger rustic in combination with the architect structures remastered. I've made some pretty awesome houses with those two combined the glass windows from asr and rhe auto opening doors ect just pair awesome with the rustic. I also live their rope variants. The walls ect. And I love the rope beds. Building cool homes and finding/breeding awesome dinosaurs are my favorite things to do lol

Hi, and thanks! Great question. When you ascend after beating the Overseer (or the other story map bosses) you go through the awesome cutscene, and then it brings you to a respawn screen. As if you died. It doesn't automatically bring you to the next map. Your character is automatically uploaded, so if you wanted to go to another map it would be very easy to do so, but you can also just pick a bed back on the island and respawn there. If you want to get all of the tek engram unlocks and extra levels on the same character though, you may want to think about choosing one character to do all the boss fights. If you don't want to overwrite the other characters then what you would do is (make sure to set up a tribe of course) take the character that's currently on that map to an obelisk and upload the character, and just leave it uploaded. You can have several characters uploaded at the same time, no problems. And then you can move your boss fighting character to that map without overwriting the other one. Of course this character will not be in the same tribe as the other one, which is why I said it's important to set up a tribe first (actually open the tribes tab and click create tribe), because if you've done that then the transferred character can just walk up to your old base and do "cheat forcejointribe" so that they can use the dinos and structures that your other character has on that map.

Also here's a tip for boss fights since you haven't done any before. There's a recurring bug that has happened from time to time in this game ever since the very beginning, to the point that for people who played for a long time, anticipating/protecting against this bug has become a tradition. As soon as you beat the boss fight and you have the triumphant music you get about a 30 second countdown before the ascension cut scene will start. During that time run up to one of your surviving dinos and dump your inventory into its inventory. Everything. Take off all your armor, everything in your hotbar, all of it. Ascend naked. It's tradition. 😆 Your dinos will be teleported out of the arena, back to where they started from, so for the overseer they will be outside the door to the tek cave, for the manticore they will be at whatever obelisk you used, for Rockwell they will be at the terminal for that boss fight. Your inventory is a lot safer in your creature, Because of this recurring bug where people lose all their stuff when they ascend. Doesn't always happen, in fact it's fairly rare these days, but just to be safe it's a good idea to make a habit/ritual of this.

If they have actually quit and are not just taking a break (as many modders do from time to time), then I may need to do a quick little video on alternatives. Because I do know of quite a few other spyglass mods that work similarly. The mod itself is very simple though, and doesn't really need a lot of updates. Since it doesn't add any models or structures to the game, just an icon that gives a buff you can toggle on and off with the inventory icon. The buff opens a UI that reads the code (that is already in-game) for the creatures. That's why it works on modded dinos too. It would be pretty hard for Wildcard to break with one of their patches or updates. That's the real reason why mods need ongoing support and updates. 🤣 But then again, Wildcard is very talented at breaking things. lol

@@SongbirdGaming I agree we had this on our cluster until he quit then we moved to Super Spyglass Plus as it is the closest to what Awesome spyglass does. I also agree updates are likely to not break a spyglass mod...but coming from a server stand point i did not want to have to deal with swapping one out on the fly if it did ever break

I doubt it. There are technical ways of exploiting glitches with snap points to make things float. Cap did that a lot in ASE. The system is very different in ASA, Cap hasn't done a ton of technical building yet in ASA, but I know others have been exploring possibilities. Antonio Pepperonio for one. But, most people don't have the patience for that complicated stuff. The mod saves a lot of time... so we can be creative in other ways.

@@DamienLee69 hmm I hadn't heard that. The lowest I'd heard was 15 gb for mods on PlayStations. But I heard conflicting reports on that. Is that for Xbox S or something?

@@SongbirdGaming PS5, but I think it's console wide.I even added up my mods and sure enough, was nearly out of space at 10gb. Really wish they'd match Nitrado, it doesn't make sense.

Yeah that's annoying. But I do always try to stay well under 10 gb on my servers anyway, even as a pc player. Updating bigger mods takes longer and they are more likely to break, and if they aren't meant to go together they are more likely to conflict too. Especially overhaul mods. Seen SO many people playing Ark with mods for the first time, and going nuts and trying to add ALL the overhaul mods to the same server.... no. You don't want to do that. They are guaranteed to conflict with each other. Been thinking I might do a video sometime on how to build a mod list of mods that work together well.

Ark is a sandbox... your sandbox, your rules. My sandbox, my rules. :-) Everyone's way of balancing it will be a bit different. There are some mods I feel are OP and so I don't include those ones. There are some settings I feel make the game too easy so I don't use them. But, no shame on those who do. Everyone's situation is different. I've played this game completely vanilla too. It's fun either way. I have 6K hours in this game, all since 2020. I would have gotten bored of it long ago if it was always the same game, played the same way. Changing things up keeps it feeling fresh, and gives you different options for problem solving.
