Church guitarists are going nuts right now
$600 is a HX Stomp, and as many others have said $680 is close to the price of many other multi-fx pedals. I gotta agree with others that Strymon is about 9 years too late on this release, even as someone who uses and likes the BigSky.
Agreed, I just picked up an eventide h90 for $720 and it has so many effects in it
$680 USD is 60% the cost of a Fractal FM3 mk2 Turbo and 75% the cost of an Eventide H90, both of which are killer multi-effects processors with way more sounds. It feels like a price that is hard to justify for just a single effect type. Love that screen update, though.

Yep and the FM3 can do way more than this for Reverb alone because you can basically chain together layers of effects to build your own. Yes it takes some work, but way more capable.
The quality of the reverbs have to be off the charts with that kind of price tag.
And 99% the price of an HX Stomp.
I'd be a buyer at $499

The impulse response on the MX is the game changer here. The possibilities are endless if you blend it with one of the other reverbs in the MX. Awesome!
or dual reverb IR's :] Only bigsky mx and tasty chips integral in pedal format that can do that as far as I know!

Sounds good as all the strymon, but i am happy with my fm9, i don’t want to mess again with cables, power supply, velcro etc. Great playing!

It’s very cool!! I guess it’s time for me to finally replace my blue sky. lol. In addition to great sounds for playing live, I can really see using this for sound beds in recording instead of a keys based pad of some sort.
picked mine up for 550 in the use market very happy with that deal
Owned a few big sky’s over the years. But the last few years felt sound was not up to quality. Ended up staying with the MXR Reverb because in stereo the mod reverb was undefeated for hifi long trail sounds. This new strymon will remain undefeated for the next few years just like the big sky did when it came out. It’s so great to finally get rack class reverb in the pedal format.

For strymon, I think the prices are out of hand now… just too expensive when there is great cheaper options out there. $680USD is wild and here in Australia, it’ll be $1100ish after our lovely import taxes. Crazy money

I mean…the original one is already so good, that how much of the presets on that version would you actually use, let alone this one? Not to be a debby downer, but I am a guy of simple tastes, that likes to create with simple, high quality ingredients. If it’s doing a similar thing, then I’ll be happy to save the money.

The BigSky killer, Meris Mercury X came out months ago ;). Seriously though, this new unit sounds awesome, yet I'll stick with the Mercury X for "creative" and fundamental reverb fx.

Exactly!. Funny how Meris doesn't get the props like Strymon does..The Mercury X is unbelievable but it hasn't got the attention it deserves...
@@morneb01Fwiw...if I were in the market for only standard reverbs... easily selected via a knob ... I'd buy the BigSky MX. For me, the Mercury X wins hands down for "creative" reverbs while providing standard reverbs too. Also, as great as all Strymon pedals sound...Meris (and Chase Bliss) products just sound better to my ears.
Luckily you cannot go wrong with either.

I don't think their new release will do well. I don't see why I should get it instead of the regular Big Sky, and I can't justify the high price of the pedal.
If I can get through a 3 hour video on Twilight, and a 4 hour video on RUclips plagiarism, I think I can get handle a 5 hour WT video.
