If you want to know if a tapered bracelet would improve the SMP, just look at the Lange Odysseus, with similar tank track style bracelet, and you have your answer: resounding yes. Tapering improves comfort and elegance, since it draws the eye away from the bracelet and towards the watch case.

Yea talks about having fun, the Omega has more variants to go with and they got quite plenty editions unlike the Submariner keeps timeless piece and more serious. As the owner of the 60th Anniversary Bond SMP i can say this.
Rolex has much better proportions. Their watches are thin. Their bracelets are the best in business and actually make you wanna wear the watch. Time reserve is better. Accuracy is on par (based on experience). I’d choose Rolex over Omega any day, if availability isn’t a concern.
Nice vid ! I wear a very old 1967 5513 Sub with original riveted bracelet on weekends, but not in the water. Simply too precious. For the water, pool, beach and holidays, it's a SuperOcean Abyss 1500m on rubber and glidelock, or then one of my lightweight full titanium sword hands neovintage SMPs (2231.50 and 2232.80).
It’s not really a hard choice. They are so so different. The SMP is far from a bad watch if you like it’s weird atheistic, but it’s 100% the No.1 Submariner Rebound watch. Ironically, Omegas Planet Ocean is the actual Submariner alternative (dare I say ‘killer’ 😮) 😎
@@alfieakaronaldog Its unique aesthetic makes the SMP desirable. Fortunately it's very different from the Submariner: hands, bezel, lugs, crown guards, dial ... Don't be an atheist, Alfie 😉.

In comprison the submariner hype/marketing and false exclusivity vs SMP better complication, better material, better movement, better value. Price is equal, build quality equal.
I own 124060. Nothing can come close to the symmetry and the unapologetic Cold War like era design of the Submariner. The overly garrish looks of the SMP and the so-so bracelet: I would never pick it over the Sub. Own it along - maybe. However... The Sapphire Speedmaster 3861.. I would pick it over a Daytona
I own a 16610 Sub (bought in 2003) and a 2013 Seamaster. It's a personal preference thing but the Seamaster gets far more wrist time. I just find it more interesting to look at. And not that it's much of an issue but the SM keeps better time than the Sub (even while it was serviced by Rolex less than a year ago). The other thing is that you have to be 'aware' when wearing a Sub, which more and more I find a pain in the ass
@@BrokeWatchFanatic You're not kidding my friend. 10 years ago I wouldn't even have given it a second thought. But now? I also own a 50's gold Rolex OP. You can imagine how little wrist time that gets these days. Is the world becoming a better place? You'd really have to wonder....

The looks are subjective, and both look good, each with own merits. If i was a bracelet lover, then submariner would be my choice. That being said, equally attractive, now i want silicon strap...then SMP for me!
@@BrokeWatchFanatic Yes the blue on that edition is stunning, I agree. If you have to get one, would you choose NTTD edition or one of their blue dials?
I own both these watches - Seamaster in blue and a black Sub Date 126610LN. In all honesty, the Sub gets all the wrist time and I rarely wear the Seamaster anymore. It's just more versatile than the Seamaster which looks more sporty. It's also much more comfortable on the wrist, the Seamaster's bracelet is too sharp and uncomfortable and the watch is too heavy and "bulky" to be a true comfortable daily watch. There is no doubt either that the Sub is more iconic - it's instantly recognisable (which some people hate) and is "the" dive watch that everyone tries to emulate or takes some inspiration from in their designs (even the Seamaster). Technically, I would say they are the same in terms of specs and how "good" the watch is. The Omega wins in some aspecllllnd the Roex in others. In terms of value, again it's debatable. There is no doubt that you get more watch for your money with the Seamaster - it's half the price pretty much, even a third on the secondary market. But then if you are able to buy it at retail price and have the cash to get the Sub at retail, arguably the Rolex is better value, as it retains its value and actually can be sold for more on the secondary market than you bought it for, whereas the Seamaster will lose around 30%-40% of its value...overall, as an owner of both, I'd say if you have the funds for the Submariner then get it. If you don't, or you want bang for your buck, then go with the Seamaster. You can't go wrong either way - both are great!
There are definitely pros and cons to each watch. You can easily argue both sides. At the end of the day, if you’re happy with the purchase, nobody can take that away from you. Thanks for your comment!
@@cecaju9516 soz bro, Omega had no idea the Seamaster was being used in Golden Eye. Do some research the costume designer talks about why Omega was "Chosen". It simply made sense that Omega would subsequently formally engage with the production company. I recommend not buying into the narrative, there's a lot of fans of competing companies jealous of Omegas achievements
@@ALL-il1sw you make a lot of false assumptions about me. I have no particular brand loyalty. I own several brands, including Rolex and Omega. Nothing I wrote is incorrect. Omega pays millions in product placement fees to be the exclusive watch in Bond films. The costume designer made a choice in for one film like they have done many times before (Seiko, Pulsar, Breitling, Gruen have all been worn by Bond for similar reasons). The author of the books wore a Rolex and put the watch on his protagonist. Bond wore a Rolex in the first film and several more with no product placement fees from Rolex.
@@cecaju9516 no assumption about you, just those with brand loyalty pushing BS narrative with no research to back it up. Bond production chose Omega, I don't know how many movies it took for Omega to make a deal for advertising but from memory there was definitely more than one. Omegas marketing department is slow and bond movies used off the shelf watches for most of Brosnan's career. I'm not sure what the issue with product placement is anyway. Hans Wilsdorf practically invented it. Rolex were product placing before the term even existed. Look at Churchill's DJ in the 1940s, The explorer given to the Everest climbers or the Cosmographs given to Astronauts. Even today celebrities and intergramers are given priority at least, perhaps even free watches which are all examples of product placement. So who cares if another brand thought hey, let's pay that movie company to continue using our products, why is there a negative connotation to it.
It’s funny, I find the Omega Seamaster NTTD more interesting and refined than the Submariner which looks clunkier and is much heavier. Anyway, both of these high quality watches have their own merits. No one would be wrong buying either.
You should have compared the black dial SMP to the sub. I loved the blue dial on the SMP in the 90’s…..but this new blue doesn’t do it for me. The black SMP is gorgeous though.
The sea master has a much better movement and is more accurate. Also, the bracelet is far more interesting and beautiful. Plus, not only is it cheaper, but you can actually buy one every day all day. Furthermore, the omega crystal has antiglare coating on the inside and outside of the crystal. Finally, you get to see that beautiful movement with the exhibition back. The Rolex back looks like any other cheap imitation Rolex, which also leads to the final, everyone won’t be asking you if you’re omega is real.
My 2 cents. Nobody will use submariner or seamaster to go diving. They will buy a $500-700 Seiko diver for that purpose, so at the end it will be a personal preference.
La comparaison : l'une comme l'autre sont belles et bien fini la différence Oméga = moins cher ,plus facile à trouver c'est un + , moins de risque à porter mais perte d'argent et moins de monde intéressé si revente envisagé .

Thank you! I love the sword hands. Perhaps one day, they’ll bring it back. 🤞

💯 Speedy > Daytona
El primero > speed > daytona
I own a 16610 Sub (bought in 2003) and a 2013 Seamaster. It's a personal preference thing but the Seamaster gets far more wrist time. I just find it more interesting to look at. And not that it's much of an issue but the SM keeps better time than the Sub (even while it was serviced by Rolex less than a year ago). The other thing is that you have to be 'aware' when wearing a Sub, which more and more I find a pain in the ass
It is unfortunate that we have to feel that way when wearing a Rolex. But glad you’re enjoying them both.

If i was a bracelet lover, then submariner would be my choice. That being said, equally attractive, now i want silicon strap...then SMP for me!
There are some good third party companies making fitted rubber straps for the sub. 😉
Oh i just find rolex with bracelet look more aesthetically pleasing and SMP with rubber strap. They just look like they are made to wear that way.
Currently saving up for seamaster 300M no time to die edition, which I believe is the only omega diver watch that can surpass submariner.

@@BrokeWatchFanatic Yes the blue on that edition is stunning, I agree.
If you have to get one, would you choose NTTD edition or one of their blue dials?
@JS-hf1qg I’d have to go with NTTD.
Thanks for your comment!
sub looks great, what is your wrist size ?

@@ALL-il1sw Omega in Bond films is product placement. Omega paid the producers millions.
No one would be wrong buying either.
bracelet taper is underrated.
