It's stupid all Gamestop needs to do. Is when you go to purchase a used game have 3 versions. Complete, no manual, and disc only. And they can charge accordingly.
for as much as I would love for them to do that. the way GME takes, catalogs, and ships out games makes that impossible. Every game that gamestop takes has an identifying SKU, it's the six-digit number on all the stickers. This # only accounts for the game and not any inserts or the original case. When you order some thing off the website the algorithm checks which stores have positive amount of that SKU and ask them to ship it out. With retro it's completely the luck of the draw as to whether you get anything good, as more likely then not you are receiving a traded copy of the game since these games are not being produced anymore. And different stores have different standards when it comes to what is an acceptable trade. Changing this would be cost-intensive, time-consuming, and likely yield little to no profit so they would never do it. PS: the chances of him receiving complete ff ds game is almost 0 since they ask stores to throw away the case and just sell the cartridge. EVEN IF THEY ARE IN GOOD CONDITION! Of course I never followed that rule because it was idiotic and when my stupid co-worker did I fished out the case, cleaned it up, and but them out on the floor. Luckily my SL agreed with me.
This is why I stopped buying used games from GameStop tired of never getting the original case or manual. GameStop also shady with selling display copies of games as brand new when the seals have been broken and the display case has been all beat up. That’s used not brand new…
@@slayrval1733 Yeah that "new" display shit is bonkers. It's like when a car dealership manager uses a new car for personal use for a few thousand miles. They can still sell it as "new" since no title transfers have occured.
I'm surprised that Final Fantasy III was actually in its case since GameStop used to (and in most stores still does) throw away any and all DS cases/manuals. They essentially ruined DS collecting.
They’re a disgusting business that thinks the only value in a game is the disc or cartridge so you can play it. They even throw out PSP cases so they’ll fit into a little shelf with worthless games no one wants because they have no case.
There used to be a lot of mint condition DS games floating around gamestop's inventory system. I think its because they were sold open, but as "new" in stores. Found 20+ titles once in a single location, which became the backbone of my entire DS collection. $5 or less each. yeah.
So when I worked for GameStop when someone would trade in a ds game with the oh box I would not throw away the case and display it with all our other ds games.I even remember pulling a couple out of the trash a few times.

Regarding FF3... As a long-time RPG collector, and former game store employee, I can say that in general role playing games tend to be in better condition than most other genres. Probably has to do with the fact that people who play mainly RPGs tend to develop better organizational skills and a good grasp on the benefits of taking care of your possessions. FPS games usually are treated the worst.
There's a certain level of satisfaction that can be found when the price tag sticker comes completely off the game case, without any of the sticker leaving any remains. Great job. 👍🏾🔥🔥
When I was a kid my dad made it a point to teach me and my brother how to take care of our games. Games always went into their proper case and we never left discs laying out. He was spending a lot of money on games and didn’t want us to destroy them because we could not afford another copy. I also don’t understand how people leave discs laying around or put them in the wrong cases. This "Gamestop roulette section" is amazing, so much fun and full of surprises, please spent more money on this hahaha 😅 seriously tho, I love your content man, keep it up!
I could be wrong, but I don’t think the DBZ game ever came with a manual. Late era PS3 games would print info on the back of the cover art and then forgo the manual entirely. It’s usually a good indicator.
Hey bud.....that "Greatest Hits" version of Midnight Club is the one you want!!! It includes all of the previously released DLC on disc!! That's a win!! 😎👍

I ended up with a copy of Alan Wake for XB360 that was in a shattered black case but did have the manual. Had to go to eBay and get a new case, and it ended up coming with the manual too. Now I have an ultra CIB copy of Alan Wake on XB360. I think it happens when the game is traded in with a super jacked up case.
So I decided to roll the dice with Gamestop. I bought Dynasty Warriors 3, Sly Cooper Collection and Ratchet & Clank Collection for $65 total. I went a VERY surprising 3 for 3. All three were CIB and the Sly Cooper looks brand spanking new. Super happy with the dub!
I got a used Ninja Gaiden 2 last year that was real cheap, think $18 and it was in amazing quality. Felt like I won the pre-owned game lottery! Made my day.
To follow up on how games arrive with just the manual and disc but not the original case, I went around asking for extra Wii/DS/PS3 cases at my local GameStops as they were phasing these consoles out. Some cases that were cracked were just thrown away but the manual would get transferred. Not saying this is every possible scenario it one I witnessed.
I picked up Final Fantasy 3 for the DS for the same price a couple of years ago at a local retro game store. Mine was mint too, the manual is awesome as most DS games were. I've yet to play it but it's in the library for the future.

Multiple packages because they ship from multiple stores at roughly the same time. Gamestop doesn’t ship used games (and most “new” games) from warehouses anymore. The last 10 or so “NEW” games I ordered from Gamestop’s website, have all arrived opened because they were the gutted copies from a store.
