Hello DIMPLE :)
Today we invited two Air Force soldiers to talk about why they joined the military!
Keep leaving us comments and suggestions, we really appreciate it.

Again, thank you for watching and we'll see you again next time!
MINJI: @i.am.hongstar
I joined for the GI bill, and also to give back as I am a naturalized citizen. My parents never understood my decision, but I am happy and proud that I did.
We remember the Tiger Eye incident! Americans ignored Koreans! Tiger Eye Seal Made KF-21! Thank you! Tiger eye seal!
Thank you for your service. So proud to call you a fellow American.
God bless u and thank u for your service, Paul.
@PaulJosephdeWerk Your parents were right. Its because every war the US has been in since the beginning has been to take things from others. The military brainwashes you to never see this and turn you into a controlled narcissist so you dont register you murder or help murder people. You're just dumb. Its an illusion.
I joined the AF because I was two years out of high school working odd jobs and thought it would be a good way to get into law enforcement. Ended up doing 21 years active and air guard and also had a career as a criminal investigator for the U S Marshals. Best decision ever.
My friend joined the air force, he said he joined to get fucked over in mechanics, all in all, if you want a easy job, dont be a crew chief for 4th gen fighter, or kiss your back good bye.
Love watching videos like this. I'm prior service myself, but I was medically discharges. Patrol got hit with an IED. Thankfully we all managed to come home alive, a couple of us earlier than the others
I'm glad you all came home too. Thank you for your service!
Thank you for your service. I'm glad you came home.
Thank you both for your service
Loved seeing Jonathan back. Totally relate to the point about regretting decisions. You can’t help your feelings at the time, but once you mature enough you come to realize how important some of those moments were in shaping who you are today. Good stuff, hope to see more of you Jonathan!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
It's great to hear from a Female Air Force person! Please have her back again, as it was also great to see Jason again. Both of their stories were great. I would love to know more about Min-Ji.
I was in the U.S. Navy submarine force. I would love to be in one of these videos! 🇺🇸♥️🇰🇷
That would be cool. I would love that one. Hope they read this.
It says "one hour ago" so I will thumbs it up and hopefully more people see it
I joined the Air Force in 1966 because the Army drafted me and said I'd probably fly helicopters in Vietnam. I immediately ran down to the Air Force recruiter and luckily scored high enough on the Air Force entrance exam. I ended up "flying a desk" for 4 years!
Cool you must've travelled the world
I joined the Army to serve my country and just get away from NY State..I later joined the Navy to continue my career till retirement. I've seen ships sink, suicide's, survived a volcanic eruption topped with being hit with a typhoon at the same time. "Pinatubo, Philippines 1991) Fired missiles from our ship, visited 26 different countries and lived in 5 of them. I've never used my GI bill or sought the education benefits.
Cool. Thank you.
Hey! I was there in PI immediately after Pinatubo, USMC. Semper Fi Navy Brother.
@@travismcdiffett What a mess that clean up was..lol
@@ICY69HOT indeed it was. :)
Damn. Atleast you’re still alive and well 💪🏽
I joined because I had no other choice. Im a naturalized citizen-former national who did not "embrace my culture enough" and wasnt considered a full part of my race just because I was more influenced by american culture growing up. It had its ups and downs but I dont regret joining or being raised the way I was one bit.
Why I joined the U.S. Air Force. I was two years into college when I got into an accident. I was driving a car which was not mine. A friend went through 4 surgeries and the car was a total loss.
I was being sued for damages. Then one day I came across a recruiting office not knowing anything about the military. Took necessary test and joined the USAF within 5 months. Best move I ever made. Highly recommend the USAF if you know what you want to do. I spend 5yrs/10 mo's total. Three of those years in the Philippines, Clark Air Base. Near the end of my enlistment, I was sent back to the U.S. for 5 months. Since I did not get sent anywhere in Europe I got out rather than re-enlist. Oh yea, I paid for the car in three years.
Quick clarification! United States Air Force personnel are called Airmen not soldiers
My twin and dad are the ones that teach the SERE(Survival Evasion Resistance Escape) training in the Air Force. Super cool to see them talk about it in a video
I joined the military because I felt I had no other choice
I'm assuming it's because of the cost of college tuition, but if you don't mind my asking, why for you personally did you feel like you had no choice?
They're not called Soldiers if they are/were in the Air Force. They are called Airman
When you are in the service take any training offered. I was an electronics technician in the Navy when salvage boat training was available. We were in a boat used for amphibious landings learning as much as possible about every aspect of the exercise. Will I ever use that training? Probably not. Was it worth the effort? Definitely.
‘Airforce soldier’ sounds right lmao
Chair Force. 😂
Death's receptionist. We'll schedule you a meeting with the deity of your choosing.
Knew this comment had to be here 🤣🤣
@FormerlyCosmicKitty Yeah I remember you had to have a 41 to get in. I had a 74 so pretty sure I’m good. 😎
I was wondering if someone was gonna say this 😂 honestly the chair force rep is the main reason most people join 😂
I was a radioman in the service Jonathan. Joined at 17 in 1983 and got out b4 I could drink. U understand life good and bad and I wish u were a cop and each cop had your sense of reasoning. Best of luck to u and your Korean friend. Life is a gift. Enjoy.
I joined to see the world and I did. There were good and bad moments. No regrets here, I would do it again.
It's fascinating to see military culture in other countries. Here in Indonesia, a military career is seen as a permanent career. Unlike the US or some Korean, being military is a lifetime job. Even if they are not graduated from the military academy. This means, that you cannot go up higher in ranks. I never saw here anyone quit their military duty before pension.
Was it required to stay or were the benefits that good? I know some places have it mandatory that everyone has to serve at least a term before death, and others stay because it pretty much is the best paying job in the country.
@@12SlimJims it's not mandatory in here. The benefit is also not that much. I mean yes the get homes (although small and not luxury) during services, but the other benefit like salary is not that much. Maybe because pride, you know, up until 1998, Indonesia is govern by military dictactorship. After democratic reformation, the military role in government is very limited, but people still respect them.
Watching how to escape after having hands duct taped. Me running to try it out. 😂😂😂
Did you succeed?
@@Groffiti Not on the first try.
i remember when i was stationed in C7F PACOM area... i had a chance to work with ROK navy, air force, and Army... it was a total awesome experience.. heck my last name Lee gave these ROK soldiers and sailor thought that i could speak Korean... i was like, "no i am not Korean, i am from Taiwan". They were like, "but your name is Lee not Li.". later on their Cdr gave me some Korean noodles and some grape juice when we were doing some training together and ask me to come eat with them later in Chinghea and Busan... LOL
huge respects to the ROK military's folks and thanks for their service, stay safe Capt and stay healthy!
I nearly joined after 9/11 happened. I was in a military boarding school up in Alaska, watched it all unfold on TV, and listened to the very real fears of the possibility of targeting the oil pipeline up there. A few days later, the recruiters came through, encouraging students to enlist, study and prepare for the ASVAB (a vocational aptitude test.) I went so far as to take the ASVAB, scoring 88 out of a possible 99, performing a physical and hearing test (including stripping down and waddling like a duck! ~ FUN TIMES! ~) I also had to take additional testing because I didn't have my Diploma. Instead, I was bribed by family; they'll buy me a new car, they'll pay for my schooling etc. I dropped out of school and totaled my "new" car. I often wonder what would have become of me had I enlisted...
Never too late to enlist if you're under a certain age. 44 I believe for some. Otherwise, as long as you're living your fullest life, that is all that matters. Heroes come in all forms. Currently I'm joining at age 28 after I already got me Bachelors degree and all. Had a premonition and now I'm going in.
I had my Master degree when I joined the military. I guess I'm a werido. I joined because I felt that if I really believed in the experiment called the USA, I had to put up or shut up. I was nearly 30 and running out of time to make that investment in my country. I joined just before the Gulf War got started.
@WildBill Yes, it is an ongoing experiment in whether we can maintain our beliefs in a democratic Republic. It's up to each generation to decide if it is worth it. This isn't the first time, we've nearly gave up on our experiment. Hell, we went to war against ourselves over the dignity of all humans. And I was willing to invest my life in this country for the next generations. You really don't get what it means to be an American. You think our ancestors fought and died for what?! They fought so that their children could have a better life (not financially but morally and spiritually). A member of my family has served and fought in every war the USA has fought all the way back to the American Revolution and even further back to the King Philips War. We put our money were our mouths were and are. My nephews and neices have been in Iraq and Afghanistan. I expect my decedents will serve too.
@WildBill I don't owe you crap man. I served. I Am a VET. Get a clue, you don't get to tell other people anything. What are a freaking facist?
Wow, the duct tape escape is good for everyone to know, thank you!
So basically, neither one of them contributed to any kind of war effort. He gets no respect from me other than the basic respect you'd give to any human being. Same for her.
"This ain't the Air Force?" that made me snort
got lost when doing an errand ending up inlisting..😎😎😎
Really hope he cleared this material with PA and got approval. Good luck to you wingman.
Doubtful since he said he's not in anymore
Joined to serve my country and joined the Army in 1993. As a kid. I wished I was in Vietnam. That quickly changed when I got to talk to the last of the 25 year guys who were in Vietnam. Missed out on Somalia. I knew the guys who were there. Got out upset I never saw combat. 9/11 happened when I was 25. I knew my history. I told my wife. Then Gf. The Russians lost. Why would we do any better. I developed PTSD from not seeing combat. I had to deal with it for 15 years. I wanted to hurt 9/11 vets. When the fall of Afghanistan happened. My PTSD went away. I was validated and was right we would loose.
I feel bad for anyone who served in Afghanistan or Iraq…
Thanks for sharing.
Well, it's tough when growing up wanting to serve your country and fight for freedom, only to realize that in reality it is YOU who are the bad guy in the story.
THIS IS GREAT STUFF AND SHE IS SO CUTE 🥺 DIDDYBOPER ♥️💝💖💕
I joined the Army when i was 20 because i had no money in my name, got fired from a job, 2 kids. Wanted to go Marines but must be high school graduate, Army was the only service that accepted my GED.
She seemed intimidated or maybe she is just less forward than others.
Aim high! Fly! Fight! Win!
I think what he says is so true.. but it's true in no matter what branch of service you join.... SGT, USA served 7y7m6d under CIC Ronald Reagan
“US Air Force SOLDIER”
Someone in the Army is a soldier, someone in the Air Force is called an Airman
I was looking for this. People always think we're soldiers.
Why did you join the military
Singaporean: cus it conscripted....
Jonathan Groff?!?!?!? I've heard that name before! The voice actor for Kristoff in Frozen
I want to Join the Air force since I Was a Kid and then when I become an Adult I found out that We Dont have Fighter Jets so I give up joining!
What? We do have fighter jets
Her rank is Captain. One diamond is 2LT, two is 1LT, and three is Captain.
Airforce portrayed here is a joke, join the 4th gen maintenance crew and you can know what being screwed feels like.
The woman with a Pixelated face taped hands together
Just a nit pick on the title, Air Force personel are airmen, not soldiers.
Army-Soldiers
Navy-Sailors
Marine Corps -Marines
I joined because it was a way to stay away from the street gangs
Do you have videos on the battle of Yultong?
Both people should consider love whether Asian or Caucasian. Yes, I know, first hand, about the matter.
i think this missed a great opp by not having both of these people talk to one another. He's a linguist living on Korea so he know the language...why not have him ask her the questions etc...
I think Airforce is the most important Baruch in the millitary ,, you need somebody to watch you from the sky ,,, it's like supports from heavens above ,, Like God mighty hands reach down from heaven n destroy your enemy's on the ground...
Helloo ,I am Askar Allah ,aka lieutenant general datuk kywen tan
My brother in law retired from the Air Force. He did 20 years. His medical benefits suck. So much hoop jumping to see a specialist. It's bullshit.
Dude looks like a gears of war character
Just letting know its a big no no in the military to mistaken each others. Air Force are called U.S Airmen not soldier. A soldier is somebody who fights in the Army. The same goes for Marines they are called Marines, Coast Guard are called Coast Guardsmen, Navy is a sailor, Space Force is called Guardians. If you walked up to anyone as a military member and made a mistake saying this to a enlisted or even a officer you would get your head chewed off. I figured I let you know so there is more authenticity in your title. If you told that that airmen he was a soldier as a civilian military usually let it go but they prefer to be called what they are.
This is just blatantly false. Nobody is going to "chew your head off" for calling them one or the other. If they do, they're just an asshole in general, and almost anyone in the military would agree. I'm gonna assume you've either never enlisted, or you're one of the assholes. Most people don't even care if you mix up the branches
Don't waste your breath.
great couple, now send them to hotel room. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wish I could hide my yellow fever as good as this guy
I want to be in the military but I don't think my body and mind is up for it..
It’s pretty easy, no matter enlisted or officer. Just being in decent shape, run, and set the goal and you good. Then progress and be a leader you want to be. It’s all mindset
Hoe Dog, Horse dog, House dog haha!
That's an Airman, not a Soldier
there is no way she has never seen a airman... we literally have two bases in Korea....
Damn, she is tiny next to Air Force Chad...
👍👏
Dimple always seems to put people together with good chemistry. I know they're not, but am I the only one who thinks they make a cute couple?
Don't be weird
👍
air force airmen*
공군이니깐 저런 캐릭터가 있을수 있지.....
Airman*
You mean Airmen right? Soldiers are Army.
BTW, Air Force don't have soldiers...they have airmen.
American channel with asian bonds (esp girls ) ref to channel description
Seems kind of odd , i mean not in a bad way but usa and Korean is good , but Japan also come under asia and if one knows history then ..umm ...bit awkward innit . Btw very American ideology of thinking that asian girls /asian people in general are just limited to Korean , Japan and chinesse citizens . Sadly they are not ,ever heard of Thailand , Singaporean , indian , etc .
If you're making a channel on asia include them also , other wise just say Korean and American channel not asian . Stop the stereotype man . This is not hate comment , just reflection on your narrow ideas of a typical European countries view on asian definition .
Its a lot harder if they duct tape your hands BEHIND your back.
I just feel the guy would love to be kidnapped and then start an adventure by escaping.
I am a little surprised that he did not mention love for his country as one of the reasons he joined.
I am a bit, too. I'm sure he does love his country, but because it seems his job was as a linguist, I can see why money for education was the top reason. I think pilots (or combat troops in other branches) usually put money for education farther down on their list of reasons.
He's former air force. Air force people almost never mention love of country lol. Most people who join air force are a little more pragmatic and talk about the education, health benefits, and on the job training than anything else. If you want "i joined for my country" try career army soldiers or career marines
Many people don’t join because they love their country. For a lot of people it’s because they need direction, money, only option, staying out of trouble, etc
@@bookXbat yes, we don't really talk about it. I do love my country but it almost feels unnecessary or incorrect to mention it in public.
Its Airman.
Not soldier.
Soldier is Army.
Navy is sailor.
Marines are Marine Corp.
If we had affordable education and healthcare in the United States we wouldn't have to join the military for healthcare and education.
That's a very blanket assertion. Some people have affordable education and healthcare, but join the military for other reasons. Some people have other options than the military for affordable education and healthcare, but choose the military.
@@SilvanaDil Just look at the stats for reenlistments. Most go in for the benefits (having no other choice) and get out.
@@SilvanaDil People with affordable education and healthcare are most likely upper class in the States. That those who see clearly the true colour behind the banner of "freedom and democracy", that you are fighting for the benefits of corporations instead of your love for your country. But to those who are poor and optionless, the military is a way out for them.
@@ShawkyJames - A case of Chinese projection, methinks.
@@SilvanaDil A rational projection you meant
air force soldier lol
Its an U.S. Air Force "Airman" not Soldier.
Do the navy next!!!!
"Enduring Freedom" yeah lol do americans really think they are the only free people in this world ?? Its hilarious tbh
that was the operations name. its not like he just said it to say it
@@kidyaes9832 i know its operation name. But Americans are obsessed with this
We’re Airman not soldiers.
Airman, not soldier.
Yea they went on a date that night an he smashed. Just look at the way she's looking at him on the thumbnail 🤣
I think its hilarious how other branches make fun of the Airforce even though its literally the most powerful branch in the US Military 🤣🤣🤣
lol air force isn't the most powerful
@@SA-yt3kq Yes it is, both the Air Force and Navy are the most powerful branches in the US Military and are the most made fun off by others. Its actually silly when you think about it.
@@EReelz Navy I could agree with because they have Air, nuclear, and (somewhat small) ground capability. The reality is though that Without the ground capabilities the Army provides with sheer numbers and logistical capabilities The US military would not be nearly as feared as it is. Sure you can drop all the bombs you want, but that doesn't matter if someone else is sitting in you chair when you get back to base because you didn't have enough ground forces to defend it. Every branch has its role, and I don't think there is any genuine disrespect between them, the jokes are all in good fun
linguist so....translator
US Air Force airman if he is enlisted US Air Force officer if he's commissioned officer!
There are no soldiers in The US Air Force because it's not the army! The Air Force has airmen the army has soldiers the marines have marines the Navy has sailors or officers that are Navy aviators they're not called pilots in the Navy they're called Navy aviators!
So they can brag about it for the rest of their life
I wanted to join the US army so i can become gay and fight for the lgbtq flag
Air Force... Soldier? For goodness sake, they're airmen.
Air Force personnel are not "soldiers".
Dear Dimple, the term "soldier" refers to people in the Army. If you can't understand this simple terminology, why should anyone have any faith that the rest of your video isn't similar amateur-hour poppycock? A sailor, a Marine, and an airman are not soldiers. Stick to cat videos.
Well chances are it’s a language barrier but don’t expect a youtube channel to do research.
