Hello everyone :)
Today was the day Sanghak and Kangyoo first met!
We started shooting as soon as came in so they didn't get the chance to recognize each other at first!
Sanghak didn't know he was from the North until he finished watching the video!
Kangyoo got to share his story of how he escaped North Korea to Sanghak!
Keep leaving us comments and suggestions, we really appreciate it.
You can also get an easier reach via our instagram: / dimple_youtube
Again, thank you for watching and we'll see you again next time!

HE RAN FOR 4 HOURS WITHOUT CARING ABOUT MINES!? I’m surprised this guy could run with those massive balls
I am surprised those balls didnt set off landmines
when life gets tough, you learn how to run with balls
this just shows how HORRIBLE life is there.
He swung them to use the momentum to propel him forward faster.
@Richard Myers coming from NK he might figure “oh! Every time I wanna go to a free hotel I just gotta booze and drive?! Let’s go !”
Knowing about the mines and not caring really puts it into perspective the kind of hell he was trying to escape. I could be wrong but I doubt anyone from anywhere else on this earth would rather risk blowing up instead of just going back home.
It wasn't any different for the people of the German Democratic Republic defecting into the west. The only difference is that theliving conditions in their motherland was way better than in North Korea.
@@Lexor888 The living conditions in the west were also way better.
Its basically the same.
@@Lexor888 In german we call it fatherland and honestly, it was a puppet state. It was never ours
Yep, from what I have watched on yt, if the defector got caught, they would either be killed immediately or worse, get tortured and forced to do hard labors without anything in return. Some defectors even had rat poison ready in case they get caught
Anyone would go back home except for North Koreans, shi the inhumane things ive heard that happens there i would rather blow up than go back, tbh i think any North Korean would rather blow up . They have the highest suicide rate
His immediate response of just how cool kangyoo is is great. Like he knew he was sitting next to a real life action hero.
He didn’t describe what life in North Korea was like, but you can get a pretty good picture when he would have rather exploded with a mine while trying to escape than continue living there. I’ve watched other defector videos and it’s truly just unbelievable what they have to go through
Kangyoo just warms my heart. He's so kind, patient, and understanding.
it was hilarious how the other guy was like " I'm sorry..." and Kngyoo is like " Ehh...you're fine..."
Even though this doesn't effect me, as an American, I pray for the day North Korean people are free from their tyrannical government. And they can freely be in peace with their South korean brothers. It's so sad that even with S. Korea being such an unknown to them, anything seemed better than what they were dealing with.
What people do for freedom! What sacrifices they make! I’m so glad he made it safely.
Kangyoo has always been my favorite 'Dimple" person. He seems like such a solid, trustworthy person. I'm glad he is living his best life!
*Heaven, Oh Heaven* made me cry a little... i love his spirit
its because he's a spy.

Would love to see more Q&A type videos between north and South Koreans. This is great dialogue very eye opening
It’s A Small Scale Reunification
SO much respect for these brave refugees. glad to see them shine in a free country. I hope their friends back home can see them now.. and someday live free too. Salute!
how desperate does a person has to be to run across a minefields?and dmz has the most dense minefields..glad he made it out alive..
Love seeing Kangyoo meet a different member. And it's great to finally hear his story. Glad he made it over safely without loss of life or limb. And glad he got hooked up with a girlfriend! I wish the best for you, Kangyoo. I always enjoy your videos.
I really enjoyed watching a regular S. Korean ask real questions they wanted to know from a N Korean. Do this again!
Reality is often scarier and stranger than fiction
I love Kangyoo ❤️ and Haneul, another defector who often makes videos with him. They are so kind and so sweet, so gentle and caring even though they have been through hell. I wish that all the North Korean people were able to have basic necessities, let alone freedom and happiness. 😥 I am so glad that they escaped safely and that they are happy, healthy, and prosperous. 🙏❤️
Would like more videos of them together talking about this topic.
Such a brave man!! I’m so happy his bravery was rewarded with his freedom. Hope he has a long and happy life. 🙏
*Kangyooo!!* thank youu So much for not stepping on a mine! My friend, Now you can enjoy soji & free luv ❤️💯
Honestly, I would have thought everyone in South Korea seen that video of the man escaping North Korea. It makes me wonder if most South Koreans know how dangerous it is to escape North Korea?
Yes; that was my thought, too. I remember it being all over US news. On CNN a couple of weeks later, there was a story about how doctors found a never-before-seen species of parasitic worm in the soldier's large intestine through scopes and other tests.
They know. But, I think most Koreans, unless they are actually soldiers, don't think about North Korea too much. Honestly, compared to the US, everyone here seems much more blasé about it. It's kind of like... let's say you live in a neighborhood that has a really creepy house with a bizarre tenant that doesn't get out much. A long time ago, you got involved in the feud between him and his neighbor about where the property line was, but you live on the other side of the neighborhood and only pass by if you want to know what he's up to now. You're convinced one day he could snap and set the whole neighborhood on fire. That's America.
Meanwhile South Korea is the neighbor who has gone about renovating his house and basically ignoring the creep on everything except making sure he stays on his side of the fence. Sometimes one of his starving cats comes over to your house, so you take it in, rehabilitate and rehome it. Occasionally you might wake up in the middle of the night and hear weird noises coming from next door, and you just grumble in annoyance, rollover, and go back to sleep. Also, the nosy, paranoid guy from across the neighborhood keeps asking you what he's up to, and you kind of want to brush him off, but he did help you settle the property line dispute, so you just shrug indifferently and say "See for yourself" and go back to mowing your lawn.
@@MsKeane-lc8qs The parasites were known. Just not found in humans anymore. All because they use human excrement as fertilizer.
@@IzzyKawaiichi What a different but accurate way of describing it
@@IzzyKawaiichi I love the way you described this situation 😂
Nice job dimple
Former North Koreans, held against their will who escaped. They know stuff.
Preach it!
I'm curious about what happened to his family back in the north after he defected. Are they ok? Is he allowed to communicate with them & do they know he is ok? Bless you that was so brave of you. I'm lucky to live in the US
Unfortunately, the options if we can call it that are either labour camps called death camps or execution. He seems level headed and alright, so maybe he didn't have any family left, which is why he was willing to attempt it. can't know, unfortunately. Truly Sad either way...
Yeah the defector's family will always be executed or worked in slave camps without food and water until they die. Doesn't matter if the family member is 70 years old or 7 years old.
@@HelloEarthling I don't think that is the case anymore, too many families would be sent to camps.
@@ThisGuyRides Oh but they are. Some of these camps hold over a hundred thousand workers, and there's a high turnover rate as they are quickly worked to death.
Either he has no family left or he is not sharing his real name so that they can just say that he disappeared
Yoooo somebody need to make a movie about Kangyoo! Damn...
Loved the story. Thank you for sharing.
Great chemistry between those two. The story of his escape is exciting! They should make a movie out of that!
Dimple just keeps getting better.
This was awesome! So interesting and informative.
Terrifying; so glad you made it! Hope you are enjoying good vibes and plenty of food!
So many of our freedoms we take for granted. Amazing inspirational story to make us take a step back and appreciate what we have.
Great video! Love hearing personal stories.
Very enlightening, plus I shared to facebook, as these are one of a kind stories that are worth knowing, thank you Dimple
i know thats easier to say than to do but i really hope that the whole country can someday be united again and this disgusting dictatorship ceases to exist. im living on the other side of the world but seeing stuff like this just drags my mood down
what a brave and determined man.....my respect to you sir
MORE OF THIS DUO PLEASE AND THANK YOU
This duo is super refreshing 😂💕
Wow, very thankful you lived to tell us your life threatening escape, by crossing a mine field to get into to South Korea, you are truly blessed, someone was watching over you, also much lol to the co host, he understands the danger you were in and your simple response to a miracle is very humbling, you over come all obstacles to achieve it, even if it meant death is beyond my hearts comprehension, all the best for the future, take care all
This was so entertaining to watch. I found myself reacting the same as Sanghak. The way Kangyoo was telling his escape story, it was so casual that you’d somehow forget how dangerous it really is. Respect.
Hope the best for him. Also, these guys are great and show remarkable respect all around. Keep up the positive attitudes! It's very becoming on you guys.
The difference between the two of them, one growing up in freedom and not is crazy… you see how he is so light and joking and the other is more reserved. I feel like it’s the influence of America which makes the youth in Japan and South Korea, those born in freedom, begin to question a lot of the rules that come with the culture.
Wow. Brave young man.
Man I got goosebumps listening to his story. 😮
It was like a movie... Cheers for your new life and brighter future. 🍻
Like these guys. Time you brought in large amounts of different types of food for them to try!
Very interesting and nice interview. 😊 Thank you!
His story is a survivor's story; nothing was on his side and he could have died at any moment but he still made it. Hope he likes his new life now
He was very brave man! Wow! That's story was wild! 😲
Ran for four miles, climbed over a mountain, could have blown off his leg or died on a land mine at any time, and is like 'if you ask a question and you're rude you can always apologize". Dude has his priorities right!
That man is amazing. I'm glad he is safe now
Holy wow!!😮 that’s the first time I’ve heard his story. ❤❤
I wonder how are the food like in North
Imagine rations. Stuff you’d eat in a world war. Especially if you lived in poor rural villages.
You get burgers if you're Kim Jong Un. Everyone else gets pinecones.
I'm so glad you made it, Kangyoo! 행복한 삶을 누리시기 바랍니다.
Glad he made it through the DMZ and missed all the mines.
Guy is a sweetie.
ooooo Kangyoo! I love him. He is so sweet. and funny Sanghak. Sanghak is so friendly and made me smile the entire time when speaking with Kangyoo. I'm glad Sanghak's personality wasn't overwhelming.
🥰
Kangyoo such a sweetheart! so happy you made it through all of that 💕
North Korean defectors are incredibly brave. I hope the transition from restrictions to freedom is not too harsh. I watch a lot of these videos and appreciate what hardships you endure thanks to the information provided. Keep up the good work. This is a great way to disseminate the information about North Korea.
i always share these videos on my facebook! so much hard work in these videos. i love you all ♥
Mad respect, Kangyoo!
l'm happy for anyone who makes it across..no one should have to live like that!
Good combination. Great video.
Wow, so happy for Kangyoo to finally have a good life in South Korea! He's such a brave man...
Sanghak reminds me a lot to a youtuber from my country named Fiki Naki😂
His story deserves to be made into a drama
incredible story. his heart was free, so his body followed, mines and murderous guards be damned. would we could all live that bravely. i wish i could shake his hand. honestly i'm on the verge of tears here.
I like Sanghak he is cute has a dynamite smile love his laugh. I love his exclamation when he thought the guy got shot by the border guard, this shows he has a lot of compassion which I find very attractive. I wish I could meet someone like Sanghak.
I'm glad he made it.
this this so cool to hear
I remember seeing all this happening. It is crazy to see something like that.
This is an oddly light hearted reaction to something so serious
It would have been beyong freaky if this had turned out to be the escape of one of them, without anyone realising before recording the reactions.
I like this north korean guy, he seems like the most real person on this channel.
Sanghak is like... SO handsome. Why isn't he an idol lol
Please do more videos on this subject 🙏
Wow! What a story...
This really sounds like a Hollywood story ....its crazy that these things still exist in todays world. I am glad he made it though and can live now a way happier and safer life.
Also the video kind of reminded me about stories I would hear from Germans who lived behind the wall and tried to escape. They would also shoot if they saw someone trying to escape. Thank God that wall crumbled over 30 years ago.
I wonder though if N.Korea and S.Korea will ever become one in the future. For the people in N.Korea I would like that. These people shouldnt be living like they do. Freedom is really precious guys, we need to protect it at any cost and try to give it to those who dont have it yet.
When your don’t care about mines that’s when you know life was probably hell back there for him. Craziest for me is the family… imagine running from the country leaving them all behind… We aren’t in the same position so I can’t know how it is but I could never do that in my situation
Btw, that defector in the Reaction vid survived is now living in American it said. Thanks guys. Your harrowing experience in escaping from NK was nerve racking to say the least. Thanks for sharing. God bless to you both.🙏😇👪🌱❤️
I'm glad he was able to move to SK😌
마음이 아프다 😭😭😭
Hope for the best in the future of korea
These guys are great. Get them some cool swag, I'll help pay for it. South Korea is lucky to have them. Make a movie about this . . .
God video!
damm i'm jealous that he got out of here but also so proud someone did it-
I love it
Love the hair styles over there. I hope they catch on over here. 😳
Dude just ran head first inside a mined field for 4 hours and actually got through????? This isn't even luck atp this is a fucking miracle
When I seen the thumbnail I thought they were reacting to Bigfoot videos & now that's all I want to see 😂😂😂
Very smart taking the mountain route, less likely to have landmines....
That's crazy like what country would be like no you can't leave us.
Thats a really cool bomber jacket looks like the one from Resident Evil 4.
Brave gentleman. I'm glad he made it across, and that's happy! And got a girlfriend! Life is good! :)
holy shit looking at north korea it is so distant from my state of mind it feels unreal when he talks about it
Kang-Yoo! 🙋🏻♂️ Where's Han-Eul? 🇺🇸🤝🇰🇵🇰🇷
They are going to do very well together on Dimple. Hope the other ex-North Korean soldier is doing well. We will miss him. Kangyoo story should be made into a movie.
i wonder what goes through his head when he realizes he ran through 4kms of one of the most heavily mined place on earth if not the most... Lucky very lucky
Wow, Still can't wrap my brains around what Kangyoo said about just walking and not caring about the mines!!! Like wtf. Feels like a movie but it's not. OMG. and his demeanor is so nonchalant.
Sanghak needs to meet Hanuel
RE4 jacket. Nice.
8:12 Bro tried to give a high five and failed 💀
Freedom.
This was great XD I'm a huge kangyoo fan 😍 & so touched to finally hear his story
So he is safe living in south Korea, nice i thought they called him back or something
I wonder if a lot of the mines are duds by now? That might have saved him.
If planning was easier pr even possible and your families safety and livelihood weren't threatened, there would be so many more.
