I recommend the Patagonia Refugio 30L. It is under 2lbs, costs around $100 and the removable computer sleeve/admin pouch is perfect for slipping everything you need into the airplane pocket in front of you on a flight

Compared to a $300 Pakt, which I’ve been seriously considering lately as an Osprey Nebula replacement, these are kind of budget. However, they are not inexpensive great value packs. I realize you might (maybe perhaps) give up something in fabric quality, but it would be nice to do a sub $60 version of this and a sub $30 version for those people who are looking for something truly inexpensive. I’m always curious what you really give up when you buy a $20 Grfree sling (a popular themepark daypack with two water bottle pockets) instead of a $180 Pakt Everyday.

The LL Bean Mountain Classic is pretty good for what you pay for. 420D Nylon, YKK zippers, a seperate laptop sleeve at the back which is very roomy and I used it to hold a lot more technology then just a laptop, etc. Only annoyances I did find was this weird threading of the fabric but I just used a lighter to burn them off and the back isn't good for ventilation so when it is very hot out you start to sweat a lot on your back, but this usually happened mostly on the unusually hot summer days. I got this nice rust like color that isn't obnoxious orange.

Budget is such a broad and weasley little topic. I think you did great though. having the average be $100 usd is, for me, probs the best area bang for buck ratio. To be more specific $75 to around 130 is the sweat spot for me where you get good to great stuff but also where the law of diminishing returns isn't at play yet.

That sounds about right. Backpack companies usually charge a multiple of 5x, so a $20 backpack would usually be charged around $100 retail.

Okay, I've gone through many many many of your videos and I'm struggling to find my backpack. I Need a Backpack small enpugh for everyday carry, with mindblowing padding and protection, It has to fit a 16" Laptop inside the laptop sleve (false bottom), a separate pouch or pocket where I can fit a Big mouse (MX master 3), Headphones, Laptop Charger and some cables.
I've been Using an Oggio Gambit 17 for the last 12 years or so and I love it, But it has been with me for way too long and I need annother backpack (but I need it to actually fit My laptop in the laptop Sleve.
My budget is up to 200 or maybe 250 USD, but The company has to sell in Mexico too.

Asking for more padding on the Aer Go 2 is odd. It's a packable backpack. Putting more padding would affect its packability. Just saying.

I have both the v1 and v2 and I would say that v2 is a huge improvement even with the minimal padding it has. I just took it to Spain for 3+ weeks and it performed beautifully as a daypack AND as a minimal travel bag for a side trip on Ryanair. Great pack, if a tiny bit heavy for a "packable" daypack.
