My borealis, that I bought in August, has a hole in one of the water bottle pockets that leads straight into the main compartment 🙃. I use one of the big Nalgene bottles. Thought it would hold up better.

isn't that hole a feature? like for carrying a power-bank and have your phone charging but still accessible

What about comprehensive test of laptop compartment size? Many specs are borderline maybe fits maybe not. If they say fits 16", or is 25.5cm wide, is the compartment exactly 25.5cn, how do you force the laptop in, does fat gaming laptop fit in, like legion 5 pro?

Yeah its crazy tho, i know what i want:
Good capacity in the main compartment,
16 inch completely seperated laptop sleeve
      No Rolltop/Weird Toploader Solutions
At that point you are already paying 150
(Moments Everything, Day Owl Pro Backpack, Bellroy Transit Pack)
Any other expectations make it like 300+ in the EU (Aer City Pack Pro, Evergoods CPL 24, Black Ember Citadel)

Happy to see the Fjallraven Raven 28 is still on your list. That was basically the first real backpack I bought in my collection. Best value for the money you can get IMO. Still love it too. Have used it for both EDC and Travel, although recently have picked up a couple other slightly larger travel backpacks to round out my needs. Still-hard to beat the Raven 28.

Awesome bags all around, but simply aren’t in my personal EDC if they don’t have external water bottle pockets. Love the design of the Daily Carry Plus, but without an external bottle pocket, its a no go. Same reason I went for the CTB26 for EDC pack over the CPL 28.

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  9 месяцев назад

Thank you for watching and definitely a fair point on the water bottle pockets. I still prefer to have them if possible as well and I almost included the ctb26 in this one as it’s a great edc as well!

Thank you for your time and posting. There just aren't any smaller backpacks that are worth over $150, at most. You can only get so many zippers, pockets, and good material. To me, it's just a ripoff. And all the over $200 backpacks have something wrong with them. :) Always great reviews though. :)

The two top bags for me from your list is the CPL 24 and the Daily Plus in that order that are my absolute favorite bags. I would have added the Mystery Ranch/Carryology Unicorn 2.0 to your list to round out a top three in 2023 for me.

Hi Danny, thanks for these videos! This channel is such a a fantastic resource. I'm testing out a Fjallraven Raven 28 at home right now and have a question: Does the back/frame sheet break in or soften up at all over time? With a 14 MPB, phone, 20 oz water bottle, and not much else in the pack, the back feels pretty rigid and the bottom digs into my lower back and top of my hips. (I'm 5'10'' and 155 lbs.) I've got a chronic back pain issue, so this may be a dealbreaker. If so, sad, because I love everything else about the Raven.
And if so, any similar EDC packs you'd recommend that might be more ergonomic/friendly to folks with back issues? I should rewatch this video, and your dedicated Raven 28 vid. Thank you!

Thank you for watching and definitely one of the toughest questions for me! I could see many of the ones on this list being a great all purpose bag, if I had to pick one I’d probably lean towards the heritage gr1, but I know it might not be the best fit for most people

The problem with most backpacks are that they either look like boxy laptop backpacks for geeks and IT specialists, or backpacks for school (teenagers). Only the mystery ranch have an urban outdoor style to look stylish.
