Try painting! You'll be surprised at how much you can improve ditching fine lines

Ross : lets make the shape first-
Me : alright so we'll start with a simple shape base-
Ross : *draws high quality sketch*
Me : *burns my pencil case*

It just needs practice I can draw hair eyes closed buuuuut I can't paint it
i dunno if you can use these techniques traditionally...
-shapes
-base
-add shadows (airbrush)
-tighten up the shadows
-add specialty shadows (darker)
-add light (new layer - soft light)
-use a brush with hair strand style
- use curves (play with curves) (ctrl + M)
-new layer-overlay (soften shadows)
-add color dodge!!! Add lightings
- blend it together
- use mixer brushes
-use a slightly harder edged brush to add bigger strands
-add small strands on the hair

It's all about skin tone and variation. Keep it relatively saturated and make sure to combine plenty of cool colors to the warm ones:)

I think he means use dark tones or just a darker version of the Color in general. Don't use black or gradients cause it will look rough, as Ross said.
with "softly add shadows" he was referring to the type of shadow, hard shadow vs soft shadow, hence the soft brush. hard shadows are blocked in, rather than the gradient.
yeah it's mostly like a soft edge vs hard edge thing rather than soft colors!

I’d honestly love these type of videos, they’re so helpful!

Overall I love the hair tutorials in digital painting.
It helps me alot in making digital arts.
A big note is if you get stuck or need ideas for pretty hair shapes please don’t be scared of using references. Ross uses references for posing and faces, every big name artist needs references from time to time. Don’t worry about it.
Using clipping masks are also your friend when shading.

Every times ross draws start drawing wth the colour dodge : uwwooooo😮
Steps to draw hair according to Ross
1. Bread (shapes)
2. Sauce (base color)
3. Cheese (shadows)
4. Proteins (light)
5. Toppings (more shadows and light, mixer brush, overlay)
6. Super toppings (individual strands)

Then you would love Colby cheese and cheese curds. They are not as sharp as cheddar which is what you would probably eat. Colby cheese was always my favorite because of this.
