    My biggest struggle with art is the sketching phase. I genuinely struggle to not slowly and methodically make my first sketch look almost like final lineart, even though I know it's important and just way easier if I go quick and loose with the initial sketch to give me a base to work off of.

    • @amateurbarnabycreates
      @amateurbarnabycreates Год назад +17

      Dont really need to make your first sketch the same with your final, for me my first sketch is where i just predict the proportions are so it could be jack shit at first but as you work on it that is where it will all come together. Personally i really love the sketching phase because of how fun it is to see your art slowing coming to place as you work on it. Just dont sweat it dude like everything it just needs the practice and i'm sure you'll get the hang of it.

    • @williamshin9096
      @williamshin9096 Год назад +6

      As you get better and broaden your visual library, each stroke u make with your lines will take less effort to convey the same thing. In other words, as you improve, you’ll gradually start to use less and less lines when sketching.

    • @Ceilvia
      @Ceilvia Год назад +4

      Sounds like the perfect opportunity to make 2 social media posts about the same art, one for your sketch and one for the final

    • @mykellederickpalad7883
      @mykellederickpalad7883 Год назад +1

      That's because you don't have the skills to skip phases yet. I was the same, I used to do a more detailed lineart to make sure I'm not messing up my final piece. That's very understandable and is part of the process so don't be confused with this since you're still learning a lot.

    • @ksizjsbskzjdk2874

      It’s important to be confident. It depends but for me I don’t do line-art I just color over it

    My biggest struggle is color theory for sure. its always hard deciding what colors to use and how to make them work together. so this tutorial was REALLY helpful!

    • @speakersr-lyefaudio6830
      @speakersr-lyefaudio6830 Год назад +1

      Best way to understand is to just start doing. You'll mess up, but you'll learn more than if you did nothing at all. Fundamentally, color theory is all about feel... For the most part. You could try doing monochromatic stuff initially.

    For me the biggest struggle is my perfectionism. I have a huge problem to call drawing "finished" because I will always find some imperfections. This doesn't affects my daily sketches as much as my student assigments/potential portfolio piece. I put pressure on myself to make only perfect artworks, but I forgot that art isn't about perfection. Art is about feeling. I am working on that. :)

    First of all, thank you for the video!! Literally have always struggled with skin tones! I’d say the biggest struggle in my art currently is the transition between traditional and digital art. Now that I’m in uni and finally bought myself a Cintiq I’ve been wanting to do more digital art but its such a different experience compared to traditional, which I’ve been doing pretty much all my life! I’m slowly getting the hang of it and your videos are definitely a huge help so thank you again!!

    I think my biggest struggle with art is actually sitting down and drawing. I see a lot of talented artists, just like Papa Ross, and think I will never get at their level because they are far too good. The colors, shading, lineart, perspective, specularity, anatomy, character design, environment, everything Ross draws/paints is just so perfect that is overwhelming. I have so many ideas and so many illustrations done in my head, but I lack the skill, then I become disappointed with myself and never finish what I started. Thank you for the tips and the awesome video, as always!

    Yoooo!! Such a great and informative video! I def recall reading different color tones through the skin somewhere. But it makes more sense seeing it done visually. But I love how adding highlights with a more textured brush is like the perfecct middle ground for a sharp/soft texture on the skin.
    Seeing the b4 and after really does make it seem more realistic. Ive been working on my first assignment this week for the DABC. Im going to try and keep these tips in mind!

    hey ross! awesome video as always! i was just looking for something on the topic of painting skin too, so great timing on that!!
    the biggest struggle i have within my art is the ability to see it as… alive. i love to add lots of colors and fun lighting effects, and a lot of people have told me that my art style radiates with energy! but i can barely see it as more than lines and blocks of color because i have aphantasia (an inability to visualize in my head). sometimes i can get satisfaction out of flipping my canvas or even turning it upside down, but after a while, i don’t feel connected to the piece anymore and i can’t see the full picture as it is (even from far away). it makes it super difficult for me to connect with and enjoy my art process. but i’ve been looking for other artists with the same struggles for advice! things like taking a break, changing up my workflow, and making sure to get enough rest to energize my brain have all helped me a ton. and so, i’m still trying my best to learn and improve on my art journey! thank you so much for the constant motivation ans inspiration you give me every day! and good luck to everyone entering the giveaway! 💙

    I wanna say my biggest struggle right now is rendering and making the piece look cohesive and finished. Recently I learned that after I add my overlay/color doge layers sometimes my piece becomes washed out. The way I try to combat that issue is by adding more multiply layers on top and push the highlights and shadows as far as possible. So far this technique is working and helping me push to finish some pieces that I've been stuck on! Thanks again Ross for sharing your expertise. I really enjoyed this video.

I should probably work on that and practice more often. Btw, Great video tutorial, Ross! Very helpful and Fun!❤️

    Good video! Very informative and easy to follow. For me I struggle a bit with anatomy and perspective.

    Thanks so much for this! I've been struggling a bit with starting digital painting and I just felt like the face is getting lost! I'm going to try your tips to see if it helps. My main art struggle right now is actually the last 10%, the final render, finishing touches. I feel like I always overdo it or under do it! Or I just don't know how to get there!

    How am i just found your channel? It’s really surprising a great result like your painting only needed 2 main brushes, many artists told beginners like me to avoid the air / sofr brush, yet you are here breaking the rule and it makes me want to start learning using it as well even tho i’d still add more textures! And my struggle is always putting the light composition, every time i done a piece there’s always feels something missing and no matter how much i tried to look at references i still feel not confident enough of where to put it to make it looks more alive and in the end, it looks unfinished but i still shared them anyways hoping it wouldn’t stop me to keep improving, thank for your video it’s very helpful and entertaining at the same time

    Being a traditional artist and sometimes switching to digital, is hard. The blending, brushes, overlays, etc. is confusing. Thank you Ross! your tutorial helped blend the colors of my wip nicely!
